  The Port Lowdy Occurrence

Tressa Buckland’s exhibition at The St Ives Gallery was a sell-out, with most of the works sold before the show opened.

Tressa was accompanied to the exhibition by her fiancé, celebrity journalist Dan Byrne who is now living in Cornwall full-time, writing for The Times and The New York Times.

Dan had their one-year-old dog, a placid Groodle mix named Nora rescued from the RSPCA, who Tressa said was obsessed with drawing and who wasn’t interested in chasing seagulls.

Wendy and David Buckland, the artist’s proud parents, were in attendance, as were many of her friends from the village of Port Lowdy.

Entrepreneur George Fox and his wife Caro, who was given the all clear from cancer, opened the exhibition and gave a rousing and emotional speech, where there wasn’t a dry eye in the gallery.

Dan and Tressa will be married on the beach on May the 20th next year and look forward to sharing their special day with all of Port Lowdy, who have all been invited to a beachside party after the ceremony, catered by the much-respected pub the Black Swan.

Tressa’s work is on display for all of September so head down before it closes, and don’t forget to look for the little mermaid hidden in all her paintings.
