“Hey,” Tiffany called, when I walked in the door. “You want the same thing today?”
“Surprise me,” I told her and sat down.
I started scrolling through Instagram while I waited. It was the same old stuff until I saw a post from Karma. It was some chocolate dessert, but it was the name of the restaurant that caught my eye. I knew for a fact that La Crêperie had a wait list of several months and seeing that it was Valentine’s Day tomorrow I knew he’d had to pull some serious shit to get them in last night. I don’t know why that bothered me, but it did.
“You look like you’ve swallowed something sour,” Tiffany said, sitting down with me.
“I’m fine.”
“I don’t believe you, but here’s your muffin and coffee.”
“What kind did you make today?”
“Blueberry Streusel.”
“Sounds awesome.”
“They are,” she said, with a wink.
“So, how was Troy last night?” I asked, taking a bite of the muffin.
“He was fine, it was fine.”
“Just fine?”
“Yeah. We went for pizza then to that old arcade over on Pine. I mean, the pizza was good but I’m not really into video games, especially old ones.”
“So, no bonus points for Troy. Too bad.”
“I might believe you, if you didn’t have that shit eating grin on your face.”
“It’s the muffin, it makes me happy.”
“You’re such a liar, Bodie. You can’t dislike someone you haven’t met.”
“Sure, I can. If he didn’t wow you with the first date, he’s not worth your time.”
“And you’re an expert on first dates, Mr. I Don’t Date,” she said, raising her eyebrows.
“Kind of. I have an older sister who went on a lot of first dates.”
“Okay, so Troy didn’t wow me. That doesn’t mean I should write him off.”
“Well, that’s up to you,” I said. “But I guess the question is, do you want to go on a second date with him?” I watched a few thoughts flicker across her. “Took too long to answer. That means no.”
She laughed. “I guess you’re right.”
“Of course, I am,” I said and winked.
“God, you’re so full of yourself.”
“Sometimes,” I admitted.
A customer came in and Tiffany had to go back to work. I finished my coffee and muffin. She set my box of muffins on the counter and I handed her a fifty. She shook her head, but at least didn’t argue with me this time.
Chapter 27
Karma
I woke up Sunday morning with a smile on my face. Having five or six orgasms will do that for you. After taking a long hot shower, I got dressed and we went for breakfast. I decided to splurge with a huge waffle covered in strawberries and whipped cream.
“Oh my God this looks so good,” I said, when our waitress brought it to me. “I’m going to take a picture and send it to Kayleigh. She’s going to be so jealous.”
Anthony chuckled. “It does look really good.”
I think I moaned when I took the first bite, and I didn’t even leave a crumb on my plate. “I’m going to have to work out twice as hard to offset those calories, but it was worth it.”
Anthony laughed at me. “Did you have plans this afternoon?” he asked.
“I have a paper to work on for my Literature class and a few chapters to read for economics.”
“Are your classes and textbooks online?”
“Yeah, mostly. But I still need to go to class.”
“I understand that, but that’s not why I was asking. I have a present for you back at my place that I think will help.”
“Help with what?”
“Your schoolwork and spending time with me.”
“Now I’m really curious. Can we go see what it is? I mean, like right now?”
He laughed at my excitement. “Sure, let me just pay for breakfast.”
When we got back to his place, he told me to sit on the couch and close my eyes. A few minutes later he placed something on my lap.
“Open your eyes,” he said. “Happy Valentine’s Day.”
It was a laptop. I was kind of confused. “I have a laptop,” I said.
“I know,” he said, with a smile. “I bought this one for you to leave here. I thought if you had an easy way to do your work here, we could spend more time together. I actually bought it before the shit hit the fan last weekend. I was going to surprise you with it, but that didn’t exactly work out. I have my own to work on, so this one is totally yours to do whatever you need.”
I could tell he was unsure what my reaction was going to be.
“Thank you,” I told him. “I love it. And I love that you were thinking of a way for us to be together more often. Wait, you said Valentine’s Day.”
“Yeah, it’s tomorrow. I’d had this whole romantic weekend planned but then, well, you know.”
“So, the fancy dinner?”
“Was part of my plans. I’m so glad I didn’t cancel the reservation.”
“Me, too. I can’t believe I didn’t realize what day it was. I didn’t get you anything.”
“Yes, you did, you gave me a second chance. That’s all I wanted.”
“I think I have something I can give you. Come here and let me show you how much I love the laptop.”
I pushed him back enough, so he was forced to sit on the couch. I crawled between his legs and looked up at him and smiled. Running my hand over the outside of his jeans, I could feel his dick twitch. As I unbuttoned them, he pushed them down enough to where I could finally get my hands on him.
When I took him in my mouth, he was only semi-hard, so I was easily able to take the entire thing. I swirled my tongue around his dick, and he sucked in a breath. It didn’t take long for him to become fully hard and that made me grin. I loved being able to do that to a guy.
My hands found his balls and I massaged them while I sucked, which earned me a moan.
“Fuck, Karma, that feels good. You’re such a dirty girl.”
I grinned and kept going. I could tell Anthony was close when he started thrusting into my mouth. The only warning I got before he came was a few curse words, and then I felt his cum hit the back of my throat. I licked him clean and sat back on my heels with a silly grin on my face.
“Thank you for the laptop.”
He chuckled. “You’re something else, you know, that right?”
“I might have been told that a time or two.”
“I think a blow job that good deserves a reward. Come here.” He patted the spot beside him on the couch.
I got off the floor and sat beside him.
“Lay back,” he told me.
Leaning back against the arm of the couch, I watched as he slowly peeled off my leggings and then my panties.
“Open your legs, Karma.”
I did. He lowered his head and with the first swipe of his tongue on my clit, I could feel myself getting wetter. He licked all the way up then started circling my clit. Then he sucked on it
“Fuck I like that. More,” I breathed, and started moving my hips.
He inserted two fingers in me.
“I love that you’re so wet for me.”
“Less words, more tongue.”
He chuckled, but did what I asked. When he curled his fingers inside of me and sucked on my clit at the same time, I completely lost it. I came yelling his name and grabbing on to anything I could.
“Wow,” I said, when I could talk again. “That was mind blowing.”
He smiled. “Just what a guy likes to hear.”
After I got cleaned up and my clothes back on, he showed me all the things I needed to know about the laptop. Since it was newer than mine, there were a few things that were different. When I thought I’d gotten the hang of it he handed me a flash drive.
“If you save everything on this you won’t have to worry about forgetting something on either laptop.”
>
“You’ve thought of everything,” I said with a smile. “As much as I’d like to stay here, I really do need to get back to campus and work on that paper.”
“I understand. It wasn’t that long ago I was still a college student. I’ll take you home whenever you need to go.”
Once I finally found my phone, I grabbed my purse and Anthony took me home. Kayleigh was doing homework when I got there.
“Hey,” I said.
“Hey. How was the rest of the weekend?”
“Great.” I couldn’t keep the smile off my face. “Anthony bought me a brand-new laptop, so I can work on my school stuff there and we can spend more time together.”
“That’s … nice.”
“Why did you hesitate?”
“I barely see you as it is and now, I’m never going to see you. At least, you’ll have to come home and get clean clothes.”
“About that, a couple of weeks ago Anthony got me a whole closet full of clothes, so I didn’t have to worry about bringing anything there.”
Kayleigh didn’t say anything to that, but I could tell she was thinking something. “Spit it out,” I told her.
“I guess it just seems that you’re kind of moving fast with him.”
“You know me, I try not to think about things too much and just do what feels right at the time. And this thing with Anthony feels right.”
“Okay. I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I won’t. Hey, did you know tomorrow is Valentine’s Day?”
She laughed. “Yeah. You didn’t?”
“No. I haven’t really been paying attention to much this week. Are you and Major doing something?”
“Yeah, but he won’t tell me what. All I know is that I’m supposed to wear something nice. So, I guess that means yoga pants are out.”
“What time is he picking you up?”
“7:00. He knows I have practice.”
“That gives me an hour.”
“An hour for what?” she asked.
“An hour to make him speechless when he picks you up. And there’s no sense arguing with me. You’re mine tomorrow after practice.”
“Fine,” she said, trying to sound annoyed but failed.
“You love it when I play dress up with you.”
“I yield to your superior fashion sense.”
“Of course, you do,” I said with a grin. “Now back to reality. I have a paper to work on.”
I gathered what I needed and took a seat next to Kayleigh on the couch, spending the rest of the night on my boring literature paper.

Bodie
I sat in class Monday morning and waited for Karma. I had a card for her, hidden in my jacket. I felt like it was burning a hole in it. I wasn’t sure if I should give it to her or not, but in my defence, it wasn’t an actual present and I’d had it for a while. A few minutes later, she walked in and sat beside me. It was time to make the decision.
“Hey, how was your weekend?” she asked.
“It was alright,” I said, a little confused. All she’d said to me in class last week was hi.
Karma smiled. “I’m trying to forget about what happened and see if we can go back to being like we were. You’ve been a good friend and I think I’d like to keep it that way.”
I wasn’t expecting that, but I’d definitely take it.
“Oh, yeah, that sounds, awesome actually. In that case, I have something for you.” I handed her the pink envelope. “Open it. It’s not a Valentine’s present or something weird, I promise. This just seemed like the right day to give it to you.”
I watched as she read the card. It said something about friends, so I figured it was a safe choice. But it was the paper inside the card that was important. The smile on her face made my anxiety fade.
“Is this for real?” she asked.
“Yes. My sister helped me find the place, but I made sure it happened.”
Then she read the note out loud.
Dear Mr. West,
Thank you for your generous donation of the evening gown and $5000 dollars. You have no idea what we can do with that money. Our organization rarely gets such large donations, so we’ve added your name to our Wall of Heroes. We can’t thank you enough.
Sincerely,
Mary Peters
Director of Operations, Women Helping Women
“Awww, there’s that sweet side of yours again,” she said with a smile.
“Don’t tell anyone.”
“I know, you’ve got a reputation to maintain. Bodie West, the sweetest asshole you’ll ever meet.”
That made me laugh.
“But seriously, Bodie, thank you for donating that dress and for the donation you made. I imagine it’s going to help a lot of women.”
I nodded, unsure what to say to that. I liked that things with Karma seemed to almost be back to normal, but that only made my thoughts go to places with her that they shouldn’t be going.
The rest of the day was as normal as a Monday ever got. Two more classes and Karma and I worked on our Spanish project in the coffee shop.
Major was at the dorm when I got there. “I have a really huge favor to ask you,” he said, as soon as I walked in the door.
“Okay, what?”
“I need you to spend the night at the girls place instead of here?”
“What the fuck? Why would you ask me to do that?”
“This is my first Valentine’s with Kayleigh and I want to make it special. I’m taking her to dinner and then I was hoping we could come back here and have the place to ourselves. If it’s too big of a favor, I’ll just get us a hotel room somewhere.”
I went to the fridge and got out a soda. “Does Karma know about this?”
“Kayleigh is waiting to say something depending on your answer.”
“Fuck, dude. I don’t know if I can spend the night in the same space as her.”
“You like her, don’t you? Like really like her.”
“Yeah, I guess I do.” That was the first time I admitted it.
“That fucking sucks man. Never mind, I’ll book us a room for the night.”
“Wait,” I said. I must be crazy because what I was about to say next was probably the definition of stupidity. “Don’t book a room. I know Kayleigh has to be up early for practice and it’s better that she’s on campus. I’ll stay there tonight if it’s okay with Karma.”
“You’re the best man.”
“I know, and don’t you forget it.”
Major took out his phone and texted Kayleigh. Now, all I had to do was wait for Karma’s reaction. We just started getting our friendship back on track this morning. I had no idea if this was going to push it too far.
At 6:05, my phone made the text noise.
Karma: I hear you’re going to be my roomie for the night
Me: Only if you’re okay with it. I can find somewhere to stay if it makes you uncomfortable.
Karma: It’ll be fine. The couch is all yours. Come over anytime you want to.
Me: Ok. Thanks.
I still thought this was a bad idea, but I’d do almost anything for Major. Hopefully it didn’t blow up in my face.
Since it was time for Major to pick up Kayleigh, I walked over there with him. Once they left, Karma and I were standing there, just looking at each other. I wasn’t sure what to say when I heard her stomach growl.
“Have you eaten?” I asked.
“No, and I’m starving after practice.”
“How about I order something and get it delivered?”
“Sounds good to me.”
“Any preferences?”
“Surprise me.”
It had worked with the ice cream, so I was hoping it would work again. Thirty-minutes later, there was a knock on the door. Karma was in the shower, so I answered the door. I paid the guy and brought it in.
“Dinner is here,” I yelled through the door.
“I’ll be out in a minute,” she yelled back.
/> I took the food to the couch and took everything out of the bag. True to her word she was out right away. She sat down beside me, and I handed her a container.
“What is it?” she asked.
“Open it and see.”
She opened the container and I saw a small smile.
“This better be because I’m supposed to eat healthy during the week and not because you think I’m getting fat.”
I just about spit out my food. I’d gotten her a salad with grilled chicken and a bunch of other things on it.
“There is nothing about you that’s even remotely close to being fat Karma. Not that that would be a bad thing, but I know you need to eat healthier most of the time in order to help you train.”
“Okay then,” she said, pointing her fork at me. “And thank you. This salad looks absolutely delicious.”
We ate in silence for a few minutes until she turned on the TV. I was really hoping she didn’t put some stupid reality show on, but I didn’t get that lucky. We ended up watching three episodes of some tattoo show, which didn’t end up being that bad actually.
“How come you don’t have any tattoos?” she asked me.
“I don’t know, never thought about it I guess.”
“I think you’d look sexy with something on your upper arm or chest.”
“Like what?”
“Maybe something tribal or Celtic.” I rolled my eyes at her. “Wait, I’ve got it. You should get a surfboard to commemorate the day we met at the beach.”
“Or maybe I should just get your name tattooed on my ass.”
“I wouldn’t complain if you did.”
I laughed. “You’re something else.” I looked at the time. “Not that I’m not enjoying your company, but don’t you have to get to bed?”
“Yeah, probably.”
Karma found me a blanket and pillow, said good night and went to her room. I stared at her door for a few minutes after she closed it. I was glad that we seemed to be okay. She was a better person than I was for letting the whole spying thing go. I don’t think I could have done that. I got comfortable on the couch and found something to watch that didn’t involve tattoos.
Chapter 28
Karma
I thought it might have been awkward with Bodie sleeping on the couch, but it wasn’t. I was actually really glad I wasn’t in the dorm alone.
