The Portal to Sidhe: Book 3 Page 12

by Kelsey Schaeffer

“Damon, take my hand!” I screamed, as I needed his magic to keep me going.

Taylor dragged my manic husband towards me, until I took his hand into mine. My vision was turning gray and everything was turning to a blur. I knew I only had seconds as I looked at Taylor and said, “I’m going to pass out Taylor. You have to push Damon through first and me second.”

Taylor nodded his head as he held Damon down , and tears poured from his eyes. Through blurred vision, I tried to look into Taylor’s eyes, but I felt something warm begin to pour from my eye sockets. I wasn’t sure if it was tears or blood as I said, “I forgive you Taylor. I love you.”

  Part Three

  Chapter 12

My eyes shot open, and as they began to move around, I quickly realized I was back home—in the infirmary.

“Miranda!” I heard a familiar voice cry out.

I quickly looked towards the sound of the voice, and I saw a smile across Ben’s face.

“Ben!” I cried as I tried to sit up, but I was still in horrible pain. “I remained lying down as I said, “How long have I been home?”

“Just a few hours,” Ben said. “Vic found you and Damon unconscious by the portal. Benny and I have been here since you returned.”

“I’m so sorry we were gone for more than a day,” I said softly as I tried to remember everything that happened.

“Miranda…” Ben began, “you were gone for over three years.”

“Three years!” I nearly screamed. “But…”

“It’s okay,” Ben said before I could say more. “Just relax.” I shut my eyes as I tried to relax. Soon I heard the sound of my husband’s voice again. Miranda, I need to tell you something,” he said.

“What is it?” I asked as I opened my eyes.

Ben sighed and looked to the ground, “Promise me you will stay in bed and you won’t panic.”

“What is it?” I asked again, already beginning to panic.

Ben sighed again as he quickly wiped a tear away. Then he looked deep into my eyes and said, “Honey, your father had a massive heart attack…he died. The kids and I…”

My heart stopped beating, or at least it felt like it did. I knew Ben’s mouth was moving, but not a word was coming out. He was running his fingers through my hair as tears fell from his eyes. That is when I heard the blood-curdling scream, and I felt something wet begin to fall from my eyes. Responding to my scream, I saw several healing fairies stampede my way. As they gathered around me, I suddenly felt tired and my vision was beginning to blur. Like many times before, the world went black.

When I awoke again, I was able to remain calm as Ben told me the details of my father’s death. I felt oddly calm and tired, and I assumed I had been given a sedative.

My father had died only a few months before my return. The heart attack had been so horrible that he died only a few days later. Immediately after my father’s funeral, my mother moved into our home. For the last month, Ben had been taking care of my mother, as my absence and my father’s death had caused her more grief than she could bear.

“She’s pretty heavily sedated.” Ben said, “Allison is with her now, but I think once she see’s you, she will recover fast.”

Tears fell from my eyes as guilt flooded my mind. I had been gone so long; I never had the chance to say goodbye to the man who had raised me—the man who I had considered my father for my entire life. Not only was my father dead, but because of me, my mother was crippled with grief.

“What about the children?” I asked. “How has Luke been?”

Ben sighed and twisted his face. “Luke has been doing okay, but he’s been keeping to himself quite a bit. Isabella has been doing good of course, but Alice…she’s…”

“What’s wrong with Alice?” I asked, hoping nothing bad had happened to her.

“Nothing…it’s just…she moved in with Nick.” He sighed. “I haven’t been around as much as I should have been, and she’s not taking…things well.”

I nodded my head. It wasn’t the worst news. Nick was a good kid, and I trusted him as if he were my own son. I just hoped that now that I was back, Alice would come home.

With the help of supernatural healing powers and fairy magic, I was able to return home shortly after my return to Sidhe. Unlike my many physical wounds, Damon’s wounds were mostly mental. He had to be sedated again shortly after our return home. Once my mother had been made aware of my return home, her grief became bearable, and she was soon taken off sedation.

The months following my return, our house grew quite full. Help was needed, as Damon’s moods were unstable, and Luke’s vile behavior was beginning to show through the sweet personality he had as a child. Luke was now fifteen years old, and growing up much too fast, as our time with him was running much too short—especially after missing over three years of his life. We had not come to a decision as to whether we would send Luke to Hell, but our options were running slim.

I confided to my mother about Luke’s vile nature shortly after she was taken off sedation. Along with several others, my mother helped supervise Luke regularly. After my return home, it seemed that Luke was becoming quit unstable. Some days he would be his sweet loving self, while other days he had violent outbursts that required the vampire guards to step in. Even though I knew Luke loved his sister Alice—maybe more than any one in the family—I was grateful she was staying with Nick. I knew it would destroy my very sensitive daughter, to see her brother change into something so hateful

The first year after my return from Hell passed by much too quickly, and Luke had now turned sixteen. In only a few months, Desmorelda would make her return to claim one of my children.

After Damon and I had returned from Hell, Delia and Emerlee had been working on a potion to help stabilize Damon’s twisted mind. Just after Luke’s sixteenth birthday, they were finally able to test their innovative new magic. The remarkable potion proved successful during testing and appeared to be without consequence if consumed regularly. Within one month, Damon was gradually taken off sedation, and able to control his moods in a proper manner. Thanks to Emerlee and Delia’s magic, my relationship with Damon began to grow once again, but since our return, Damon refused to talk about what happened in Hell.

During Luke’s sixteenth year, I was grateful for my husband’s stability, as Luke grew even more difficult to manage. Luke’s journey into his teenage years proved challenging, but it was two months after his sixteenth birthday, I realized his vile DNA was truly beginning to dominate his personality.

I had just returned from training with my warrior unit. After returning from Hell, I finally had joined the warriors—even if it was years later. Nathen had been put in charge of looking after Luke while I was away, so I quickly marched up the stairs to take a quick shower before relieving Nathen of his duty. As I headed to my bedroom, I began to realize the house seemed extra quiet. I knew that Damon and Ben were spending time with my daughters, but the rest of the family seemed to vanish.

As I headed down the hall, I saw that my mother’s bedroom door was wide open, so I quickly peeked inside—no one. I checked Delia and Nathen’s room to find it was also empty. Growing curious of my family’s whereabouts, I quickly checked the other bedrooms, finding each one empty, which was until I reached Luke’s room. I found it odd that Luke’s bedroom door was the only door shut on the entire second floor.

I was going to knock, but I found the whole situation quite odd, so instead I pressed my ear against the door. To my surprise I heard giggling and squealing coming from inside. It sounded as if there were multiple girls in the room, and their voices were unfamiliar.

“Luke,” I said as I knocked on the door.

“What!” he yelled from the other side.

“What are you doing? Where are your grandparents?”

  No reply.

I knocked again, “Luke, what’s going on?”

There was still no reply. I tried the handle, but found that it was locked. I reached atop the
doorframe and realized the spare bedroom key was missing, so I quickly pressed my fingers out using simple magic to break the lock.

“Get out!” I heard Luke scream before I could even see what was going on inside.

I gasped when I saw my sixteen-year-old son sitting on the bedroom floor next to two young topless girls. I didn’t know either of them well, but I knew they were both fairies that were in their early twenties. The one on his left was a blond, and their girl on his right had jet-black hair. Luke sat between them, with a hand on each of their breasts. I didn’t know what to say, as I stared at my son in disbelief.

“Luke!” I screamed, “Oh my god.” I threw my hand over my eyes, as to try to avoid seeing more. “You…you shouldn’t be doing this.”

“Oh yeah?” he challenged. Through my fingers, I could see that he wasn’t pulling his hands away from the girl’s breasts.

The two young fairies looked stunned by my appearance. “Girls,” I said, “Please put on your shirts and go. They didn’t move as fear struck through their eyes. “Now!” I screamed.

The two young fairies jumped to their feet as they stumbled around to find their tops.

To my surprise Luke screamed, “Don’t you fucking leave! Either of you! Not until I’ve had you both!”

“Luke!” I screamed in anger. “They need to leave right now. You shouldn’t be acting like this. Where are your grandparents?”

“Who cares,” my son hissed as the girls stood frozen, unsure of whom to take orders from.

I turned to the girls and said, “Go! Now!”

I saw them trembling while they finished dressing as quickly as they could. Just as they began to stumble towards the door, Damon thrust his fingers out, using magic to slam shut the door.

  “No!” Luke’s voice thundered.

The two fairies looked horrified by my son’s actions. They looked at me for help.

I thrust my hand towards the door and used my magic to quickly open it back up. My son was too quick though, and he threw his power towards me, slamming me against the wall. Pain shot up my spine as I crashed into the drywall, shaking the entire room.

“Luke please stop,” I cried as I lay, shivering in pain. “You hurt me.”

“Don’t tell me what to do!” he shouted as he took hold of the dark haired girl and threw her on the bed as if she was a doll. The blond fairy began to whimper as she ran for the hallway, but Luke was too fast for her. Just like me, he used magic from his fingers to slam her into another wall.

The pale-headed fairy’s sobs grew loud as bones cracked, and she fell onto the ground. She began to scream in pain as Luke screamed, “Shut up!”

I tried to get up, but my spine had been injured, and I couldn’t move my legs. “Please sweetheart,” I said as I lay on the carpet, “lets just talk about this.

As the injured fairy screamed in horror, Luke ignored us both as he began to rip the clothes off the dark haired fairy.

“Luke please,” I pled, but he didn’t seem to hear me.

The injured blond continued to scream and cry as she begged for help. I tried to come up with a plan, but I was wounded and confined to the ground. As my son forced his lips to the fairies mouth, I watched in horror as she tried to pull away. He wouldn’t allow her to escape. Instead, he only gripped her arms harder and yanked her closer.

“Don’t do this,” I begged as I threw my fingers out to do the only thing I could think of.

Using my fingertips, I launched a protection barrier between Luke and the young girl. The moment the barrier sliced between them, it pulled them away from one another, sending them both crashing to the floor.

“You bitch!” my son screamed as he charged towards my wretched body. He let out a horrifying growl as his lips snarled in rage, and he lifted his leg back ready to attack.

“Please no! I yelled as he thrust his leg forward with a murderous look in his eye.

I quickly pulled my protection magic away from the fairy, and threw the barrier over myself just as my son’s foot slammed towards me.

“Owwwww!” he howled as his foot slammed into the invisible wall, sending him falling to the ground. My body trembled from the blow to my barrier, but at least I hadn’t been injured more.

My protection magic was only making my son angrier. When he stood up, rage was pasted across his face. His blue eyes were glowing as his lips sneered in wrath. He growled as he came at me again in anger, but I held my magical barrier up strong to keep myself protected.

“Please Luke. Please. We can talk about this. I won’t be mad at you. Just settle down,” I said calmly as my son climbed off the ground.

I thought he was going to kick at me again, but my son was too smart and returned to the terrified fairy by his bed. She was still lying on the ground and trembling in fear. Once he reached the young fairy, he lifted her from the ground as if she was nothing but a feather. Until now, I had been ignorant to my son’s incredible strength—it also didn’t help that I had been away from over three years.

She began to scream as he tossed her onto the bed, ready to have his way with her. I turned my head towards the injured blond fairy. She was still lying on the floor near the door and crying in pain. I quickly caught her attention, and mouthed “go” while Luke was focused on the other young fairy.

She shook her head as she trembled, but I opened my eyes wide as I furiously mouthed “go” once again. This was her only chance to escape my son. My expression gave her enough motivation to quietly crawl out the open door.

It only took Luke a moment to realize his victim had escaped as he howled in fury. He pulled away from his black-haired fairy as he threw his hand out to stop the blond, but it was too late. The blond fairy had already made it out the door in escape.

“Bitch!” Luke screamed. He ran towards the bedroom door while dragging his fairy by the hair. She was crying out in pain as she stumbled behind him.

Just before he reached the door, I threw out just enough magic to slam the door shut. As the door slammed shut, my angry son turned around and shot me a look of rage. He tossed the fairy to the ground and charged after me again. He tried to kick me, but to his dismay, I was still protected by my magic.

Knowing that I was highly skilled with my powers, my son finally gave up on me and returned to the poor fairy girl. He yanked her off the ground, dragged her by the hair and tossed her on the bed.

“Luke, don’t!” I begged as he tore off her bra, leaving her screaming in fear as he tossed it to the floor.

“I will get what I want!” Luke growled as he began to fondle the fairies breast. His facial expression was a blend of delight and pure evil.

“Luke, please,” I pled as I looked away in humiliation and fear. Tears were beginning to fall from my eyes as my sons behavior was becoming more than I could bear.

I heard her scream again as he tore off her bottoms, leaving her completely undressed. I felt sick and turned away as my son undressed himself and held the girl down.

“Luke, please. You can’t come back from this. Don’t do this. Let her go.” I begged.

I felt disgusted. I couldn’t let my son rape this poor girl, so I threw out my fingers towards the two. Before my son could take what he wanted, he slammed into the protective barrier I had placed over the fairy girl.

“Bitch!” my son screamed again as he flung his fingers towards me. I watched in horror as his eyes turned silver and began to glow. Just as quickly as his eyes changed, I watched a flashing light bolt from his fingertips and stretch across the room. The bedroom lights began to flicker as the walls began to shake. As the bolt of lightening flashed through the room, I tried to move my protection to cover myself, but it was too late.

The lightening slammed into my arm, burning me as I screamed in pain. The shock of electricity zapped through my body as I trembled and lost control of my magic and my entire body. Drool began to ooze from my lips as blood fell from my nose, and I continued to quiver uncontrollably. As I lost control of myself, my
son took the dark haired girl once again and held her down as he prepared to have his way. I tried to move my fingers out to protect the girl once more, but my fingers were shaking and my mind was foggy. I could hardly see straight, and I knew my consciousness was drifting away.

“No,” I whispered as my son crawled on top of the fairy girl.

I shut my eyes. It was too late.

  Chapter 13

Just as my eyelids fell shut, I heard the door burst open and a loud booming voice yell, “Stop!”

I quickly yanked open my eyes as I saw my eldest son Benny storm into the room.

“Dad, Damon! Help!” he screamed as he charged towards Luke and ripped him away from the girl before he could do something unthinkable.

“You bastard!” Luke snarled as he charged back at his brother and threw his fist right in the center of Benny’s face.

Benny cried out in pain as he instinctively threw his hands over his bleeding nose. While Luke was occupied with his brother, the fairy girl used this chance as her escape. She quickly grabbed a blanket and bolted towards the door. Unfortunately, Luke was much too fast as he threw out another bolt of lightening straight towards the young fairy girl. The girl screamed as the lights flickered once more, and a burst of electricity zapped into her side. She collapsed to the ground and began shaking as drool poured from her lips. A pool of urine pooled around her body as blood began to empty from her nose. She can’t be dead, I thought, she just can’t be.

Luke began laughing as he looked towards the broken fairy girl as if she was an achievement. As Luke was laughing like a mad man, Benny caught him off guard and slammed him onto the bed. He pulled Luke’s hands behind his back to disarm him. As Benny held him down, Luke began to shake and scream in anger as he tried throwing his brother off of him. Luke may have had deadly magic running through his veins, but his older brother was still bigger and had years of intense superhuman training.
