The Portal to Sidhe: Book 3

“Why!” I cried.
“He’s not well.” Delia looked heavily concerned. “Everything about this place…hurts him. What he did with Gabby wasn’t right, but every time he sees that living room, he has to remember that his own son killed his unborn child.”
I looked down in sadness and said, “That wasn’t the only child he lost.”
“What do you mean?” Delia asked.
“Damon and I lost a baby many years ago…before Luke…before we were even married.”
“My God,” Delia cried, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” I said, “But I know it does hurt him.”
“I knew he held in a lot of pain,” Delia said, “but after what you told me tonight…it’s worse than I thought.”
I nodded my head
“Miranda, I know Alice is mad at Damon…for everything, and she has a right to be…but the things she says to him, and the way she treats him hurts him.”
“I know,” I said, “But the way Damon has acted…it hurts her.”
“I know,” Delia said nodding her head. She paused. Then she said, “I just…think it would be best if the two of them were apart…and maybe even the two of you.” She smiled, “I love you like my own child.” She wiped a tear away, “I tried to be a mother to you, when your own mother was gone, and I will always love you like one of my own. This isn’t just what I think is best for Damon, I think it’s what would be best for both of you—and Alice.”
She paused and wiped another tear away, “You have Ben, and he is a wonderful husband to you. He’s a wonderful father. You have Benny, and your daughters.” She paused. “Now that Luke is gone, Damon doesn’t have a place here anymore.”
“I know he loves you,” she said, “I don’t even know if he’d be willing to leave, because he loves you so much. I just think he needs a break…some distance, to get himself well and clean.”
As tears fell from my eyes, I nodded my head. I didn’t want to admit it to myself, but deep in my heart, I knew she was right.
I gave Damon some space, and decided to talk to him a few nights later.
“So you want a divorce?” Damon said when I told him what his mom suggested.
“No,” I said calmly. “Just a break…so you can focus on getting yourself better, and I can focus on Alice. There’s something going on with her, and she really needs me.”
Damon gave me a blank stare, then he shook his head, and to my surprise he said, “Fine.”
“Really?” I asked, surprised that he agreed so quickly.
“Yeah,” he said. “I love your kids…despite what they may think. Your right.” He continued, “I’m not good for them right now…Alice needs you.”
I nodded my head, grateful that Damon understood. “Thank you for understanding,” I said quietly, as I reached my arms out to hug him.
His body remained firm as he accepted my hug, but he didn’t try to hug me in return.
“So I guess this means were not trying for a baby anymore.”
I shook my head. “Not now,” I said. “Maybe in a few months.”
Damon nodded his head with a blank stare. The two of us sat in silence for a few moments. Then he said, “When do you want me out?”
“Damon, you can stay for a few days or weeks. It’s up to you.” I paused. “You can return as soon as you’re better, and we can start trying for a baby again!” I tired to sound enthusiastic.
“Uh huh,” he said with no emotion in his tone. He paused again, then his expression seemed more hopeful as he said, “I’ll leave this weekend but on one condition.”
“What’s that?”
“I want to have a dinner Friday night, black tie, I’ll invite all our friends and family.”
“Okay,” I said feeling curious.
“I’ll clean myself up, and tell everyone I’m going back to Earth to help Addison and Ayden.”
“Do you think that’s a good idea?” I asked.
“I’m not going to drink too much,” Damon said casually, “I promise.”
It was settled, Damon, Delia and Nathen would be returning to Earth in only a few days, and Damon would be holding a dinner to bid Sidhe farewell.
Damon’s final days on Sidhe were those of mixed feelings and hope. Hope that without Damon’s insanity, we could recover from all our losses and hope that Damon could change. But with hope came sadness, that I wouldn’t see Damon regularly, and that this split could potential end our marriage. Even through our separation would mean Ben would have me to myself, even he seemed melancholy towards Damon’s departure.
“I know you love him,” Ben said one night, “He’s still your best friend, and I don’t want you to lose your best friend.”
I nodded my head, knowing that Damon’s loss would cause me pain, even after everything he had done.
The week went by much too fast, and Friday arrived much too quick. Damon ordered the event be black tie, and he didn’t spare any expense. I had one of the finest seamstresses on Sidhe design a stunning sequin dress for me at the last minute. She did a spectacular job of creating a sparkling silver dress of sequins from my chest to my toes. The dress was a simple straight, floor length dress, with thin spaghetti straps, but the stunning material is what made the dress stand out.
Delia and my mother, who both appeared much younger than their true age, also had beautiful dresses designed for this special occasion. They both looked radiant in their formal attire as we met in the sitting room and awaited the men.
Damon insisted he arrive at the event to ensure it spectacular, so Ben would be escorting me alone. Moment after Ben entered the room, Nathen quickly followed behind. Both men looked stunning in their black tuxedos. The five of us headed to the grand dining room, where the event would take place. My mom was attending the event without an escort, as she was still mourning the loss of my father.
By Damon’s request, the five of us were the firsts to arrive, and each of us was blown away by Damon’s efforts. To my surprise, not an expense was spared in this extravagant event. Massive champagne fountains and ice sculptures flourished throughout the room with accents of massive floral arrangements in every direction. Several servers stood throughout the room with trays of appetizers, just waiting for guests to arrive.
When Damon saw the five us arrive, he quickly came to our side. I was shocked by Damon’s miraculous transformation. His eyes were clear, the swelling in his face had subsided, and he had an elegant new haircut with a neat beard trim. He was dressed in his finest tuxedo as he held his head higher than I had seen in a long time.
“Damon…you look wonderful!” I cried as I wrapped my arm around him.
“Thank you,” he said with a surprising coldness to his voice. I quickly patted his shoulder and smiled, as I hoped that this dinner marked the beginning of his new start.
Shortly after our arrival, Aunt Allison and Brandon arrived, with Roger close behind. Our small group began to sip champagne and nibble on appetizers as more guests began to arrive. I was having such a wonderful time with Ben, I didn’t immediately notice the blond woman standing by Damon’s side. Rage flourished my mind, when I realized this woman was the same woman Damon had been with the night I caught him.
I felt my face turn crimson in anger, and I suddenly went quiet and still.
“Is everything alright?” Ben asked, taking notice in my sudden change in behavior.
I shook my head. “I’ll be back,” I said as I quickly headed towards my husband.
When I arrived at Damon’s side, he was opening flirting with the woman with a huge smile across his face. Although Damon didn’t seem to mind my presence, the woman suddenly went cold.
“Well hello Miranda,” Damon said with a smile, “I don’t think you’ve met my friend Debbie.”
The blond woman looked horrified as I gave her a cutting glare. She began to tremble, but she moved closer to Damon as if he would protect her. As I was able to look closer at her, I could tell by her looks she was a fairy. She was
smaller than me and stood at most five foot tall. She had pale, almost translucent skin and hair, and very pale blue eyes. She was very pretty, but she looked to be quite fragile. I was certain she was an ice fairy.
“Why is she here!” I snapped.
“She’s my friend,” Damon said casually.
“You’re sick. Do whatever you want!” I hissed as I quickly walked away in furry.
I was heading back to Ben, but I couldn’t reach him as a familiar face stopped me.
“Well, hello doll,” I heard him say.
I looked up to see Glenn standing in front of me with a smirk across his face.
“Hi,” I said hastily.
“Where are you headed off to in such a hurry?”
“I’m sick. I’m leaving,” I hissed.
“Now wait,” he said as he stroked his hand down my shoulder, “I’m sure we can get you something to make you feel better. Maybe a drink? Some potion?”
“No,” I said as I tried to walk away, but right then, Damon began clanking his spoon against his glass as he stood at the head of the table.
I froze, hoping he would be quick, so I could escape. The lights in the room dimmed as it grew quiet, and a spotlight shone on my husband.
“Welcome everyone!” Damon said with a smile. “After serving this realm for many years, I’ve invited everyone here tonight for a feast as I say goodbye.”
I sighed, hoping he would talk fast, as I wanted to get away from both Damon and Glenn as quickly as possible.
Damon continued on as he told everyone how he would be heading to earth to help Addison and Ayden run Pine Lake. Finally, Damon invited us all to find our seats.
I quickly scurried away from Glenn as I looked for Ben, but when I found him, I realized the seat next to him wasn’t mine. A young redheaded fairy was sitting to his left and an older blond fairy was to his right. He looked at me in confusion and shrugged. I rolled my eyes and looked around, wondering where Damon had seated me. I quickly looked to the head of the table, assuming Damon had sat me next to him, but once again, I was surprised to see his Debbie sitting to his right and Glenn to his left.
In aggravation, I was about to sneak out when I saw Glenn waving me over. I figured Glenn had taken my seat on accident, so I headed his way.
“Well,” he said when I was by his side. “Looks like I get to sit with the Queen Mother.”
I quickly looked down and realized my place setting wasn’t next to Damon it was next to Glenn. I gave Damon a dirty look, but he only smirked as he stood at the head of the table like he was the King.
I pouted, but I quickly took my seat, hoping to leave the moment dinner was over.
Once everyone was seated, Damon cleared his throat and said, “Once again, I want to thank everyone for wishing me farewell, and before dinner is served, I’d like to offer a treat.”
Without hesitation, Damon threw his hands out, released two massive handfuls of purple dust.
“Oh no!” I cried as I quickly stood up. Some of the other guests looked confused, but many of Damon’s new friends began to cheer.
“Have a seat,” Glenn laughed as he smiled at me while purple dust fell onto his head.
I tried to get away, but Damon had been too fast, and I was already covered in the magical fairy dust. I tried to brush off what I could, but the magical dust was fast, and I could feel the effects quickly setting in.
The room seemed as if it were made of water, as it seemed to spin and bounce around. Voices and sounds around began to echo as servers began brining in food. I felt a warm hand grab my wrist and I turned around to come face-to-face with Glenn. As he smiled, he suddenly seemed less obnoxious, and I realized he was actually quite attractive.
He quickly guided me back to my seat, and the two of us sat down together. As we awaited our plate, he smiled at me and said, “I hear my son’s been living with you.”
I smiled wide and said, “Yes, yes, he’s a good boy.” I giggled.
“Maybe I could move in too,” he said with a charming smile. “You’re practically already his mother. We could marry.”
I smiled and giggled like a young girl, “Okay,” I said taking his request much to light.
“You know Damon and I are practically best friends,” he said.
“I know,” I smiled as I leaned in closer, only inches away from his lips.
“I know Damon wouldn’t mind…and I’m sure Ben wouldn’t either…look at him,” he laughed as he pointed towards my husband.
I looked towards Ben and saw the red headed women sitting on his lap, while the blond was feeding him food off her plate.
I laughed at the sight and looked towards Glenn once more. His lips were only inches from mine, and his eyes were shut. I giggled, but then I pressed my face towards his, and planted a kiss on his lips.
It was a short kiss, but I felt roped in by his intense charm and chemistry. Just after we kissed, as server set our plates down in front of the two of us, and walked away.
I quickly eyed the meal, and my stomach began to growl in excitement. Just as I was about to dive in, Glenn waved a scoop of mashed potatoes in my face, and I quickly ate it. Just after taking a bite, I felt Glenn’s lips pressed against my neck. Glenn kissed me as I devoured a few more bites of food and washed it down with a gulp of champagne. When I was finished, I couldn’t resist his seduction, and I quickly collapsed into his arms.
The moment I fell into Glenn’s strong arms, he lifted me up and straddled me against him, as he pressed his face into my breasts, kissing me just above my dress. As he kissed me, I didn’t care that my husbands, my son and several family members were in the same room. It felt as if passion had devoured my mind.
Glenn and I kissed wildly for some time as my mind continued to grow fuzzy. As the room spun around me, I felt Glenn suddenly lift me off the ground, and I watched and he headed towards the door. On the way out, I saw Damon and Debbie kissing hard as he pressed her against the wall, and I saw Ben laying on the ground, hot and heavy with another woman. For some reason, watching my husbands with other women didn’t seem to bother me, in fact, I found it funny.
With my arms wrapped around Glenn’s neck, I continued to laugh hysterically as we headed out the dining room doors.
“What’s so funny,” he snickered.
“My husbands are with other women…and I’m with you.”
“Why’s that funny,” he smiled wide, showing his perfect sparkling white teeth.
Through laughter I said, “Because, you’re so dumb and annoying. I absolutely hate you.”
Glenn stared at me for a moment, then he began laughing so hard, he had to stop and put me down.
“I know!” he cried as he continued to laugh, “I’m so annoying…and awful!” His face turned bright red from laughing. He laughed so hard, he started wheezing, and when he took control of his breath he fell to the ground and began rolling around, grasping his stomach and laughing.
His laughter made me laugh harder, and I sat on the ground near him and leaned against the wall. Finally Glenn got control of himself and lay still for a moment.
As he lay in stillness, he snickered, “My wife and son fucking hate me. My wife’s so depressed she can’t even care for my son, and my son can’t stand the sight of me. All I do is drink and party and cheat on her.”
I giggled as I curled up next him, “You sound like Damon. I’m starting to hate him, just like your wife hates you. My daughter already hates him,” I laughed.
As Glenn and I lay in the middle of the hallway talking, I couldn’t believe the words that were coming out of my mouth. For some reason I didn’t care about anything and even found our very disturbing conversation funny. Glenn laughed as he talked about how his wife’s depression from her mother’s death had pushed him into cheating, and I told him how the sight of Damon was beginning to sicken me.
“I only married my wife because she was stunning,” he said, “But after our son was born, I got tired of her.”
“T
hat’s pathetic!” I laughed. “You’re so so pathetic!”
More some reason, my insults turned him on as he jumped on top of me and held my arms against the ground.
He planted a deep kiss on my chest and said, “Shut up! Your wickedness is turning me on.”
I laughed and said, “I’m not trying to be wicked; I just can’t stand you.” Then I pulled my hands out from his grip, and pressed his face into my breasts.
I quickly pulled my dress down as I moaned from the pleasure of his kiss.
“You’re so beautiful,” Glenn said as his voice was muffled into my bare skin.
I giggled.
As Glenn kissed me, my vision grew blurrier and my senses became disoriented. I was so wrapped up in pleasure; I began to forget where I was and who was kissing me. Before I could tell what was happening, I felt the cool air against my naked skin, and realized I was completely undressed. I looked up and saw Glenn was as naked as I, and on top of me. I had no idea where I was anymore, but I smiled and laughed as we made love.
Everything was turning gray, as Glenn and experienced great passion, and soon the room began to spin faster and faster. Moments grew blurry and actions began to pause in front of my eyes as if they were snapshots instead of real life. Our laughter grew disoriented and echoed around the walls as my mind felt as if it were shutting down. I felt clammy skin, and heard strange noises, but my mind was only full of pleasure and joy. Events began to slow down, and then speed up until my vision came to a stop. The world went dark, but a dim laughter still echoed in my mind as I felt my body rocking back and fourth.
Suddenly all went still, and my mind stopped.
When I opened my eyes, I was in the room I shared with Damon, and it felt as if I had awoken from a crazy dream. I lay there for a moment, trying to decide if my dream had been real, or if it was only a vision. I couldn’t even remember when I had left Damon’s dinner party. As I lay still for a moment trying to recollect the night before, I felt Damon begin to move around. I quickly glanced over and felt my heart begin to race when I saw a head of thick black hair instead of Damon’s golden blond locks.
I screamed as I jumped from the bed, and was surprised again, when I realized I was completely naked.
