Warm Kisses: A Curvy Girl Romantic Comedy (Warming Up To Love Book 6)
Page 4
An evil glint fills Knox’s eyes as he walks over to me. “You know, I just thought of something.” I realize his idea is going to be painful and prepare myself for the worst. “Every young boy needs a dog.” Good God. That’s just what we don’t need. A freaking pain in the ass animal like his English Bulldog, George.
As Phoebe’s eyes light up, I silently plan to buy his twin two-year-old boys a drum set for Christmas. Revenge is a dish best served on the holidays.

PHOEBE
Six years later
“JASON, don’t feed Belle from the table,” I groan. Human food does terrible things to our French Bulldog’s delicate system. We’ll all suffer this evening if he continues sneaking bites of his broccoli and cauliflower to the dog.
“I don’t like it, and Belle does.” My handsome son looks so much like Drake that my heart squeezes in my chest. Ignoring the sensation, I remind myself he knows how to argue and get his way just like his father, too.
I stand over him and shake my head. “Jason.” As he looks up and does his best contrite impression, I barely resist laughing.
“Okay, Mom.” Not Mommy. I guess he’s frustrated with me. Belle sits on the floor and watches the exchange between us. We both know as soon as I turn my back, Jason is going to accidentally drop more food for her.
Drake walks in the door a few minutes later and leans over to kiss me. “Sorry I’m late. I had to rework the Effusion deal.” He sighs. “Knox’s panties were in a big twist.”
Groaning, I point my head at Jason and mouth, “Watch it. Little ears.”
Later that night, I’m tucking Jason and Belle into bed when he looks up at me and frowns. “Mom?” He sits up and plays with the covers. “Is Uncle Knox going to be okay?”
At first, I’m shocked by his question, but then my husband’s earlier comment runs through my mind. “Honey, you don’t need to worry about Uncle Knox. He’s just a little busy at work.”
Jason seems to be convinced by my reassurance, and I read him a bedtime story and tuck him and the spoiled dog into bed.
As I’m walking to the door, he asks from behind me, “Did Daddy untwist his undies?” Luckily, he can’t see the laughter written across my face.
After getting myself under control, I turn back to the bed and attempt to explain to my son that not everything he hears means exactly what he thinks it does. It takes some time, but he seems to understand me. I kiss him and the dog goodnight and tuck them in. “I’ll see you in the morning,” I promise before turning off the light.
I find my husband stepping out of the bathroom and laugh. “I just spent the last ten minutes explaining to your son that you didn’t really untwist Knox’s underwear today.”
As he throws back his head and laughs, I walk up and wrap my arms around his waist. “You’re lucky to have me to fix your messes.”
He smiles down at me. “The luckiest day of my life was the day I met you.” He hugs me tight. “Your warm kisses thawed my ice-cold heart and showed me what happiness really is.”

LEAP YEAR BABY…
My horoscope said, “For all those Leap Year Babies out there, it’s your day! Take a leap into something fresh and exciting.”
I don’t think my horoscope fairy meant for me hop into Mr. Walker’s pristine, Egyptian-cotton sheets. I had no idea my roommate's gorgeous employer was in the shower when I let myself in to take his dog for a walk. I surprised him, he was shocked to see me then I lied and insulted him, royally.
I was only supposed to walk his dog for a day to help out my roommate, but now Knox is offering me a whole new job. One I may not be able to turn down. After all, this is the new Leap Year me.
This over-the-top quick read is just what you're looking for if you like insta-love romance with a little bit of humor.
