Trian's Spark

  “Trian?” Amelia asked.

His eyes flickered to Amelia’s sparkling green eyes.

“You asked me a question, but you don’t seem to have heard my reply,” she said.

“Sorry. My mind tends to wander to other things so fast recently. May I hear your answer again?”

Amelia’s plump lips raised a fraction on the right-hand side. A blush rushed to her cheeks. Oh, how he would love to see that flush after she’d come in his arms.

“Why do you ask how I would feel if I was yours? Do you think I’m your mate?”

“Yes,” he simply stated. Now can I touch you?

She chuckled. “Short but sweet. But to answer you, I—”

Suddenly the ship rocked to the side, making Amelia stumble. Without thought, he reached for her, only for a single blue stream of energy to leave his body and enter hers. She looked startled before beginning to slump. Trian caught her and pulled her up into his arms.

Hope and happiness filled every cell in his body. She was his! He was hers!

A boom could be heard before the Gemorph rocked again to the side.

“Report, Iryano,” he shouted to his comm as he carried Amelia to her bed. He sat beside his mate, staring down at her as Iryano gave his report.

“The Kopla brothers have returned, and they brought another Lesh ship with them. We’re trying to determine how they got past our sensors at the blackhole. It looks like they really want the females on this planet.”

The decision to leave Amelia was heart-wrenching. If Hover was right, she needed him as any other female would need their spark. But his crew and ship needed their captain. Before he had a chance to call Hover to Amelia’s cabin to sit with her while he dealt with the Lesh, Iryano asked one simple question that changed his thoughts.

“Before you even think of doing what I think you’re going to do, is she yours?”

Trian smiled for the first time in what felt like forever. “Yes,” he replied.

“I have the ship, Captain. Iryano out.”

The relief Trian felt was amazing. His best friend and second-in-command was the next best thing to him for the ship. His crew would listen and obey, giving Trian time to be with his mate.

Trian touched his comm. “Hover,” he barked out.

  “Yes, Captain.”

  “Do you have wounded?”

“Only two currently, sir, but I’m not needed,” the medic replied, seeming to realize Trian wanted him.

  “Please report to Amelia’s cabin.”

As Iryano had done earlier, the medic zapped to Trian’s side instead of answering.

“Is she hurt?” Hover asked, walking toward Amelia with his medical scanner.

  “No. She is my spark.”

Hover glanced up at Trian with a gleeful look. “Potest solum unum.” There can only be one.

Trian nodded and returned the medic’s smile.

Hover read his scanner and turned his gaze to Trian. “She’s fine. Her iungo is beginning to grow. Only one warning, Captain, that I have yet to add to the reports. I’m finding that the human females are unaware a shorter time than our own females are after the first energy exchange. Instead of three cycles, you have just over one.”

Trian glanced down at the sleeping woman. He felt both dread and happiness. Human women were so much different from his own. Would she be mad that she’d been claimed before he had… What was it she’d told him? Oh…wined and dined her. He made a vow that when and if she accepted him, he would do all that and more for the rest of their lives.

She looked so peaceful. He couldn’t wait for her to awake and gaze up at him with her beautiful eyes.

“Hover here,” Hover said as his comm flashed. “I’ll be right there,” he replied to whoever had spoken to him.

  “Trouble?” Trian asked.

The medic smiled even though it didn’t reach his eyes, which confirmed to Trian there was in fact just that. “Not for you to worry about, sir. Iryano has given specific orders that you are not to be disturbed.”

When the frinx had his friend issued that order? Hover zapped from the room before Trian could ask.

For the first time since becoming the captain of the Gemorph, Trian ignored all thoughts of his crew and ship. Instead, he gave all his attention to his mate. The one who would forever and a day be the core to his life.

  Chapter 11

Amelia could feel a slight buzzing at the back of her neck, and it was disturbing her lustful dream of one alien captain. His thick, tanned arms were settled either side of her shoulders, caging her against his body. She was glad for the cool sheets underneath her as her body warmed from his touch. He was licking down the valley between her breasts, leaving a trail behind that he blew over occasionally, causing goose bumps to rise.

A moan left her throat when he licked over to her right breast and captured her nipple between his lips. He sucked on her perked bud and rubbed it between the hard palate of his mouth and his tongue.

The feeling he was causing was indescribable. Electric zings shot from her breast to her clit. She rubbed her thighs together and felt moisture from her pussy already slickening them.

“Awake.” Trian’s deep, chocolaty voice could be heard close to her ear that was currently being nibbled on.

No, she didn’t want to wake up.

“Please, me unum. I want to see those beautiful green eyes gaze upon me.”

Arousal shot through her body once more at hearing his voice. He sounded so close, and her dream felt so real. She supposed she would have to wake eventually. But a few more moments wouldn’t hurt, would it?

Trian’s manly scent washed over her as once again Amelia envisioned the hunky, alien male she’d been dreaming about the last few days lick and nibble over her pulse on her neck, leaving a wonderful feeling behind. The slight humming sensation at the nape of her neck stopped when Dream Trian removed his hand from there to sit up and gaze dreamily down at her with swirling, purple eyes and a sexy smile.

“Wake now,” he ordered once again.

Amelia growled. Why was the man so demanding? It was her dream!

Her mind slowly awakened fully. She still felt aroused; her nipples were sensitive, and her clit throbbed uncomfortably. But that was nothing unusual. It had been happening a lot the last few days. She’d dreamed of Trian so many times now it was normal.

The thought of another cold shower had her groaning and opening her eyes. She was shocked beyond belief to see Trian lying beside her. On her bed. Heat pooled at her center as she imagined him over her, inside her.

“What the… Shit… Hang on… Let me think…” Quickly, she tried to gather her thoughts. Trian had come to her room and asked if she was drawn to him. What had she replied? She couldn’t remember…

Trian’s sexy smile disappeared. Concern edged over his face. “Amelia? I cannot say I’m sorry to be here, but before I was forced to touch you, I wish I could have heard your reply to my question. I also would have liked to do as you requested and spent some time talking with you.”

Question? He wasn’t sorry to be here? He was forced to touch her? She had to make her brain work. When he made a move to touch her, she held up her hand, stopping him. If he was to so much as lay a hand on her now, she’d be sitting on his lap taking what she so badly wanted. Her clit throbbed, and her breasts felt heavy. If she were a male, she swore her balls would be blue right now.

Finally, through the haze, or waking, and her arousal, she managed to remember the last few moments before she lapsed into the unknown. Trian had asked her if she felt drawn to him. And in a roundabout way, he’d asked her if she was his mate. Then the ship had lurched to the side and he’d stumbled into her. No, she’d stumbled into him and he’d gone to catch her.

“What happened to the ship?” She glanced around her room to see nothing out of place.

“The Lesh decided to start something they couldn’t finish. They’re no longer a threat for now,” he stated simply. “You do not have
to worry. You females and those of Earth are still protected.”

  “Oh. Was anyone hurt?”

“Only a few men, but they are well and back at their stations now. There was one incident with a female, but she is safe.”

Amelia’s heart lurched. “Who was it? What happened?”

She had to go see for herself, make sure this woman was fine. It wasn’t that she didn’t believe Trian, she just wanted to make sure with her own eyes. Amelia stood, and a wave of dizziness swept over her. Sitting, she breathed in and out for a few seconds.

“It’s okay, Amelia, I vow.” Trian had shuffled closer to her. “I can help if you feel weak.”

She looked at his offered hand. “How long was I out?”

“A little over one of your days.”

Amelia wondered how long one of Trian’s days were. She was about to ask when he asked one of his own questions.

“Please put me out of my misery and tell me your answer to the question I so desperately seek. Do you think I’m your mate? Would you allow me to touch you again?”

Oh God, would she. Remembrance of her dream had her thighs clenching together. A flutter of excitement rippled through her body.

“First, tell me who the female was,” she said.

  Trian withdrew his hand. “Zoe.”

Amelia gasped. Zoe had just turned thirty and wasn’t handling life very well. She had told Amelia about her husband leaving her after she’d lost their baby and was told she might never be able to carry a child due to her funny-shaped womb. She had kept herself going for a while getting lost in her job, but when her company downsized, and she was made redundant, she slipped even further into depression.

The day she’d been taken by the Lesh, she was standing on top of her office building about to jump to her death. She hadn’t handled being on the Gemorph well at first, but several days ago, she’d confided to Amelia that she had found she could fit into the vents and crawl around the ship. Her knowledge of electronics also helped in her movement.

“What happened to her?” Amelia demanded.

“One of the Kopla brothers managed to get aboard the ship, and he came upon Zoe, who was on level four for some reason. My men have yet to find out how she got off this level, and she won’t say.”

Amelia knew how Zoe moved around the ship, but she kept it to herself, because she’d seen Zoe smile more often now that she had a secret over these Gracian males. Amelia had also seen Zoe laugh once or twice in the last few days when she’d come across a male named Basup. She would follow him in the vents and play pranks on him or gather information about him. Amelia couldn’t take that away from Zoe yet, not if it made her happy.

Amelia pressed the button on her communicator. “Zoe.”

A second later a female voice replied. “Zoe here.”

“Trian just told me what happened. Are you okay?”

Amelia pictured a smile on Zoe’s face as she answered, “I’m fine. One of those Lesh dudes decided to nearly ruin my day, but they didn’t succeed. And Basup thanked me for saving his butt.”

Amelia chuckled. “I look forward to hearing your story.”

  “See you soon. Zoe out.”

Amelia glanced down at the small, leather band she and the other women had been given to communicate with the ship, Gracians, and each other. It looked like a simple friendship band. No electronics could be seen at all, bar a light that flashed if someone sent you a message. It was brilliant.

Amelia sighed in relief. Zoe was fine and even sounded happy.

“Amelia.” Trian said her name with a questioning tone.

Raising her head and gazing at the fine specimen sitting next to her, Amelia smiled. “She’s good. I know you know this, and you were trying to tell me but…”

Trian moved so fast across the bed with pleading eyes, her words dropped away. “Tell me, me unum. Answer my question. Are you my mate?”

“Yes.” She let the word slip from her mouth without thinking. But something else did register. “But if you’re here and I’ve been unconscious, you already know that, don’t you?”

Amelia remembered the slight buzzing before she woke up. She immediately moved her hand up and felt the back of her neck. A small, fingertip-sized lump had formed at the base of her skull. She had what the other three sparks aboard the ship had—an iungo. Amelia had her answer before Trian nodded.

“When I first laid my eyes on you I felt something.” Trian moved closer to her. “Your hair was the first thing I spotted, then as I gazed at you more...” He smiled, showing straight, white teeth. “I didn’t want to admit you might be my mate. I had the ship, crew, and your group of women to sort out. Plus, with me being so close to flaring, I was in trouble. But no matter what was going on, I found myself needing to see you. When you were in the medical bay, I zapped into the room to watch you sleep. When you were here in your cabin…” A contrite look appeared on Trian’s handsome face. “I have watched you sleep for many hilns—hours—over the last few cycles.”

Trian’s small tidbit of information didn’t particularly surprise Amelia. She had felt watched over the last few days. It was as if she felt safe in the new world she’d been plunged into. But something nagged at her.

“Is that what Fortua meant yesterday in Bell’s cabin when he referred to ‘your present condition’? Was he talking about you flaring? If you were so close to ending your life, why did you not touch or talk to me sooner?”

A flash of embarrassment flickered through Trian’s swirling eyes. “My crew and ship, they have been my family for so long.” The huge, handsome, alien before her squirmed. “They have always been my priority. I found it hard to put myself before them. The feelings I had for you were…” He sighed heavily. “I was afraid to take the risk of finding out you weren’t my mate.”

“I understand.” Amelia shifted closer to Trian and placed a hand on his. A flash of heat went through her body and seemed to suck the breath from her lungs. Glancing up to Trian’s tornado eyes had her clenching her thighs tightly together. The promise of hot, sweaty, all-day-and-night sex swirled in his eyes. “Remind me later how I do know…”

Another flush of heat swam through her body, making her clit feel as if it had a pulse, and her nipples grew so perky and stiff she thought they might cut their way through her gown to be free. She knelt on the bed, shuffled on her knees toward Trian, and straddled his lap. His face was the picture of shock before heated lust claimed it.

She licked her lips, glancing at his. His eyes followed her tongue. In a flash, Trian’s mouth covered hers, kissing her. His soft, warm, pliable lips pressed against hers before his tongue licked along them. She opened and delved her own into his mouth.

Amelia shifted her hips closer to his groin. The feel of his thick girth touched her most intimate parts. She groaned into their kiss. Trian growled and banded his arms around her, pulling her tightly against his body. Excitement rippled through her. She felt like a teenage girl getting ready to lose her virginity, although it wasn’t her first fumble in the jungle. She knew what sex felt like. But with Trian, she knew it was going to be more than she’d ever had before.

Trian’s chest rumbled with a deep, guttural growl as he thoroughly kissed her. Her tongue stroked along his as his fucked her mouth with the promise of what was to come. Amelia wrapped her arms around his neck as one of his hands brushed up and down her spine, eliciting a shiver of delight.

“Potest solum unum,” Trian mumbled against her lips. “Me unum.” He growled, pulling away from her.

“Why doesn’t that translate?” Amelia asked, confused.

Trian smiled, and his swirling eyes twinkled. “Potest solum unum means there can only be one.”

Amelia swore she could see honesty and love swirling in Trian’s eyes.

“You, Amelia, are my me unum.” His warm hand cupped her right cheek. “My one, mine.”

Staring into Trian’s eyes and feeling his hand against her face, Amelia felt at home. Only one man had
ever cupped her face before and that had been an old man by the name of Jim.

Amelia’s life hadn’t been too bad, but she’d had her fair share of hard times. Her parents were drug addicts, and she was taken into care at an early age. When she was two years old she had been adopted by a lovely couple, David and Penelope Heart. Alas, even that didn’t last long. When Amelia was four her adoptive father had surprised his wife with a balloon ride for their anniversary. Both of them had lost their lives in a freak accident that left their burning balloon plummeting to the ground. An elderly couple who were friends with Amelia’s adoptive parents came forward and fought for the young girl to live with them.

Annie and Jim, who were a lot older than the average foster parents, won the right for Amelia to live with them. However, just after Amelia turned thirteen, Jim developed Alzheimer’s. Amelia and Annie watched as he gradually changed from a kind-hearted soul to one who became angry because of his worsening condition. He would lash out in frustrated tempers. Although Annie again fought to keep Amelia in her home, she lost the battle when she refused to put Jim into a care home.

Amelia didn’t miss a chance to visit Annie and Jim. She visited after school and every weekend. She held no animosity toward Annie for choosing her husband over her. Not long after Amelia turned fourteen one of the children home’s social workers pulled her aside before she left for school one morning. Amelia was told a carer who visited each day to help Annie had found the elderly lady at the bottom of the stairs, deceased.

For two years, Amelia rebelled against the life she’d been handed. She drank and smoked and found trouble wherever she could. The one thing she did do through her troubled years was keep in contact with Jim. It made her anger worse though when he didn’t recognize her. She wanted the old man to acknowledge Annie was dead and had left Amelia alone. She wanted Jim to love her as he had done before he was sick.
