“Alright, Lenada it is,” he said, putting his hands on his hips and giving a curt nod. “Weigh anchor! Raise the sails! We make for the island this very moment!”
Zoey sucked in a breath before exhaling sharply and flashing a knowing smile. “Aye, aye, Captain,” she said. “But I think I should say one last thing.”
“What’s that?”
“As I said, I honestly don’t know how skilled Marcus is,” she replied. “We could still wind up as skeletal hamsters.”
Ethan shrugged, not wanting to dwell on all the ways this next leg of their adventure could go wrong. “Could be worse,” he said. “But I’ve got Luck of the Devil. We’ll be fine. You’ll see.”

It’s hard to race without a crew, and Ethan’s hope to find one before the Grand Regatta begins is dashed to pieces the moment he lays anchor at Lenada. The citizens are gone. The buildings are razed, and mysteries abound. What happens next continues the grand adventure across the high seas, one filled with more swords, cannons, pirates, and ships; not to mention a voracious ahuizotl with his own plans for the future—plans Ethan would never approve of should he find out.

When not writing, Galen Surlak-Ramsey has been known to throw himself out of an airplane, teach others how to throw themselves out of an airplane, take pictures of the deep space, and wrangle his four children somewhere in Southwest Florida.
He’s also recently taken up murder yoga, and thus discovered a passion for choking friends out. Thanks to his long legs, he tends to favor triangles, but won’t pass up a good cross-collar.
