Renee examined where Caesar pointed and nodded solemnly, "I agree," she replied.

"Alright, we'll let the horses rest for a bit longer and then start moving… thankfully we found this lake. Now we should have enough supplies to make it to your clan's residence," Caesar contemplated for a moment and then replied.

Renee nodded her head in agreement, and they laid on the soft grass while gazing up at the sky, they stayed like this in silence for another 30 minutes or so.

Once enough time passed, Caesar stood up and patted the grass off his buttocks. He walked towards the currently playing horses and brought them back to the carriage… After binding them, he brought out a new outfit from his storage ring.

It was a fancy-looking burgundy suit. It sported a black button-up shirt under and a crimson tie. He also brought out elegant black shoes with deep crimson laces. He completed the outfit with a pair of black silk gloves that further escalated his elegance.

"Hey, can you bring out my basket?" Renee asked pleadingly. The breeze was quite chilly.

Caesar did as she asked and brought out the basket she had given him prior, she pulled out a simple violet summer dress that exposed her shoulders and everything below the knee.

After she took out the dress, she went behind the carriage away from Caesar's eyes and put on some sexy black lace panties and bra… She slightly blushed when she remembered what that shop owner had told her when she bought them.

"If you wear these, it doesn't matter how hard-headed your man is… his thing will immediately rise to the heavens!" the chunky store woman told her with a wide smile.

Renee placed her wet underwear at the bottom of the basket and brought it back to Caesar. To which he then placed the basket back in his storage right and hopped on the carriage.

"Are you ready?" he asked gently and put his hand out to help her up.

Renee nodded her head and took his hand, she sat next to him and played with her thumbs shyly… Although she was embarrassed, she still wanted Caesar to notice the sleepwear she had bought just for him.

Unfortunately for her, Caesar was busy playing with his ice magic while driving the carriage, which caused Renee to pout.

"Hmph," Renee huffed and looked in the opposite direction, effectively ignoring Caesar.

Caesar looked at her confused and tilted his head, 'did I do something wrong?' he mused to himself.

This ride carried on in a similar fashion for the rest of the day until it reached nighttime, in which the storm was probably only about an hour away.

  CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE

Caesar observed the nearby terrain. He couldn't see any trees, mountains, or anything else that could potentially cover them for miles on end.

Caesar furrowed his brows and stroked his chin, to the right of him, Renee looked at the storm worriedly.

"Will the horses be okay running through it?" She asked curiously.

"Hmm, it should be fine… I'll think of something," Caesar replied with certainty, which relieved Renee.

The smell of rainwater and cold winds greeted them as they got closer to the storm, the horses started visibly looking uncomfortable and were reluctant to move forward.

With Caesar behind the reins, however, they still moved quickly, whether they liked it or not.

"Do storms often happen in the dark continent?" Caesar casually asked, as if he was not worried about the upcoming storm one bit.

"Not in particular… but, the temperature is most certainly colder there than it is in Rahvin kingdom."

Caesar nodded his head in understanding… 'it would appear this world is similar to earth with separate time zones, temperature, and terrain depending on the location' Caesar quietly thought to himself.

As they approached the foreboding storm, Caesar squinted his eyes and raised his slender hand… He started to freeze the molecules in the air and slowly form a specific shape.

Slowly, a sizeable slanted object was being formed above the horses and, of course, him and Renee.

Renee looked at Caesar suspiciously, "what will this do?" she asked.

Caesar smirked and explained calmly, "the rainwater will hit the slanted ice and fall to the sides of the horses, effectively keeping them dry."

"Won't the ice just melt after a few minutes?" Renee said with traces of doubt apparent in her eyes.

"That would be correct if I didn't continuously fuel my ice with my mana… Although I agree, it will be quite tiring for me. The horses will stay dry, and so will we,” Caesar responded.

Renee nodded her head in acceptance but still carried a reluctant expression, "will you have enough mana? You don't use your magic in fights very often. I had thought that was your weak point," She whispered just quietly enough for Caesar to hear.

Caesar smiled bashfully, "to be completely honest. I had thought my magic was useless…" Caesar responded.

He wasn't lying. The last time he had used his magic, he could barely even form a few spikes, let alone a solid object. The mana he contained was relative to the amount of power he could output. He had not tested his ice element for a very long time.

"Why would you think your magic was useless?" Renee couldn't help but ask.

Caesar scratched his head, "well, I never had someone to teach me how to use it properly…"

Renee nodded her head, "that much hasn't changed haha, the way you use your mana is very crude… you have an excess amount," She giggled softly.

Caesar looked at Renee curiously, "I move the mana within my body according to the book I read in the past… is that wrong?" he asked.

"Haha, every element is different… because my affinity is fire, my mana is warm while yours is probably cold. Just like each affinity is different, most of them have a natural way to move through the body. The way you use your mana is as if you didn't have an affinity in the first place," Renee explained.

Caesar somewhat comprehended, "so, what is the correct way to utilize my mana the most effectively," he asked.

Renee's face became troubled, "your affinity is very rare. Even the most common magical races, humans and elves can't actually handle the frigid temperatures within their body. Because of this, I haven't been educated in the ways of ice magic. You probably need to figure it out yourself," Renee said in a slightly depressed tone.

Caesar nodded while deep in thought, "do you know of any race or a specific person that can use ice magic?" he asked.

"There used to be ice fairies. Unfortunately, their race went extinct at the same time the vampires did," Renee explained.

"Tsk," Caesar clicked his tongue in displeasure. If no one knew how to effectively use ice magic, then he would have to learn everything himself to actually make it useful in combat, which took a lot more time.

The sounds of small droplets of water hitting the roof of the carriage temporarily halted their conversation… They should be at the very edge of the storm.

The winds were kicking up, and the horses involuntarily slowed down a bit, although not much rain was hitting then, the wind was still capable of carrying the droplets of water to the horses.

Suddenly the window behind both Renee and Caesar opened up, "is it fudging raining?" a rough voice rang in their ears.

"That would be correct, Joe," Caesar answered.

"Goddamnit, I hate rain… especially the humid temperature after" Joe grumbled and closed the carriage window.

Caesar shook his head with a wry smile and concentrated on forming new ice where needed. The droplets of water and strong winds made it quite hard for Caesar to make the ice stay in place and not swerve.

Fortunately, the sun was hidden behind the dark clouds and didn't speed up the melting process.

They traveled through the storm at a steady pace, and beads of sweat started to roll down Caesar's head. He passed the reins to Renee and entirely concentrated on keeping the ice above the horses.

"This was a lot harder than I had initially thought" Caesar couldn't help but complain audibly.

; Renee patted Caesar's back and kissed him on the cheek, "you can do it, honey!" she said teasingly with a wide smile.

The corner of Caesar's lips twitched. He could feel his arms starting to cramp and get sore. He could tell this would be one hell of a bumpy ride at this rate.

Suddenly, an interesting idea came to Caesar, causing him to smile broadly… "darling, my mana is running out, can I have some of yours" he asked slyly while flashing his protruding fangs.

Renee looked at Caesar with surprise and played with her thumbs "y-you can do it without my mana, right?" Renee asked hesitantly.

Caesar shook his head, "it would appear, that would be impossible," Caesar replied with a faked, exhausted tone.

"I-I see…" Renee scooted closer to Caesar and pulled her dress down ever so slightly, completely revealing her bra.

Caesar raised his eyebrows at the sight and subtly locked the carriage window with ice.

'This trip won't be so bad, after all,' he mused to himself.

  CHAPTER FORTY

Caesar grabbed Renee's waist with his free hand and sat her on his lap. He shifted her hair to go over her right shoulder, leaving the left side of her delicate neck relatively clear.

As he moved his mouth closer, he could visibly see Renee shiver like a frightened rabbit. Perhaps, a normal man at this point would stop; however, Caesar was no normal man.

In fact, Renee's reaction made his smile even wider. He shortly reached her neck and tapped her sensitive skin with his fangs.

"H-hurry it up!" Renee said anxiously. Her face was completely flushed.

Caesar was done teasing her, so he did as she asked and punctured her neck with his fangs.

He hungrily sucked the mana from inside of her. His nearly depleted mana reserves almost instantly started to rejuvenate.

He could feel Renee's legs tighten, and her warm breath exit her mouth. Caesar didn't understand why him sucking her mana out was a pleasurable experience for her, but he wasn't one to complain.

This continued for around five more minutes, Caesar reluctantly withdrew from her neck and couldn't help but make a satisfied smile.

Caesar never felt like drinking mana was required for a vampire to live. However, he felt as though it was more of an addicting drug… At least, Renee's mana was.

Renee sprawled out on top of Caesar's lap and hugged his neck tightly. Her legs were like wet noodles, which refused to move.

Caesar raised his right hand and once again increased the amount of ice above them, with his other hand, he increased his grip around Renee as to not let her escape.

"That's some interesting sleepwear you have on, were you trying to entice me?" Caesar brought his mouth close to her ear and whispered slyly.

Renee averted her eyes, "W-who would do that for you…" she stutteringly replied.

"Haha, you never cease to impress me with your cuteness," Caesar chuckled gently and decided to stop teasing the girl on his lap.

They continued through the storm with moderate ease. The horses were obviously getting tired, but the worst thing they could do was stop.

The carriage moved through the storm for another two hours until, finally, the blazing sun once again pierced through the clouds and lightened the surroundings. Small sprinkles of water still fell from the sky, though, it was still much more manageable than the storm.

Caesar pulled the reigns and let the horses rest for a while; he also evaporated the ice above them and rested himself.

Renee was sitting to the right of him with crossed arms and legs. She was angry that Caesar had taken advantage of her while in 'that' state.

Noticing her angry expression, Caesar decided to soothe her a little bit… he scooted next to her and put his arm around her shoulders.

"Hmph," Renee snorted and ignored Caesar's advancements.

"I apologize, but your charms were just too much for me to handle," Caesar said jokingly and pecked Renee on the side of her head.

Seeing that she did not react, Caesar sighed deeply and decided to use his secret weapon. He pulled out a piece of spiced jerky from his storage ring.

He audibly took a small bite from the jerky and could visibly see Renee's ears perk up, her nose moved ever so slightly, and her eyes glanced at the jerky in his hands.

The corner of Caesar's lips curled, he took out another piece of jerky, he purposely made it, so the scent transmitted through the air and entered into Renee's nose.

"Will you forgive me?" Caesar asked slyly while waving the piece of meat in front of her.

Renee gulped audibly, and the tips of her ears became red, "y-you can't control me with f-food," Renee said hesitantly.

Caesar's smile disappeared and was replaced by a frown; he took a big bite of the jerky and slowly chewed.

After a few seconds of loud chewing, Renee couldn't take it anymore and snapped. She pounced on top of Caesar and snatched the two pieces of jerky he had in his hands.

"Haha, now, do you pardon me?" he chuckled and stared straight into her eyes.

"I was never mad at you, you know? I-I was just… embarrassed" Renee said slowly and hopped

off of Caesar, she didn't pay any more attention to him and slowly nibbled on the pieces of jerky.

Caesar smiled wryly while shaking his head, he urged the horses to continue moving forward, and just like that, they continued their journey.

'We should be about two weeks out from entering the dark continent,' Caesar mused to himself…

Caesar tilted his head back and enjoyed the calm breeze. He squinted his eyes perilously as he gazed at the sky.

He raised his left hand towards the sun and made a grasping motion as if he wanted to grasp the entire skies.

"I think in this life, instead of adapting to the world… I will change it," Caesar whispered to himself.

Renee tilted her head and looked at him, curiously, "what did you say?"

Caesar smiled, "I didn't say anything," he replied while looking at Renee lovingly.

"Is that so?" she asked suspiciously and went back to nibbling on her piece of jerky.

In another continent, thousands of soldiers were lined up, they all carried gold-plated armor and were all relatively young men. The flag bearers held large insignias that depicted a large cross.

In front of the thousands of soldiers were six young teens that rode on gorgeous looking stallions, they looked down on the troops and pointed their swords forward.

"We will march towards the Northern forest! we will arrive in about three months… an evil monster has slain our elder brother, Richard" The young teen with short red hair spoke in a hateful tone… Almost as if he was used to talking with lots of people.

He paused for a second and continued.

"We are devastated at the fact that our elder brother was killed in cold blood, he was the hero to this world, and he died alone… We will avenge him in the name of a CRUSADE!" the young teen put his fist in the air and roared.

"HOORAH!" the young soldiers thundered enthusiastically.

The red-haired teen turned his horse around and smiled evilly… 'this time, I don't have you always walking in front of me, my older brother… in this world, I will forge my own path without being in your shadow haha' he laughed evilly inside and urged the troops to move forward.

  CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

As they got closer to the Dark Continent, the tension started to rise, and everyone's nerves were on edge. Renee was especially anxious. She had no idea if her ill grandfather was okay or not.

Along the way, they passed many different regions such as plains, mountains, rivers, and forests. Caesar spotted many different kinds of exotic creatures, the closer they got to the dark continent.

Huge birds, weird-looking tigers that have a much larger mouth, lanky elephants, and even a land crocodile… Caesar couldn't help but feel as though these excessively large creatures were strange, but to the rest, they were perfectly normal.

  This strange yet comforting atmo
sphere carried on for two weeks, until finally while urging the horses to go further, Caesar spotted a peculiar divide in the road.

He concentrated on his eyes and tried to read what the roughed-up signboard said, "dark continent border, checkpoint ahead," he whispered out loud as he read.
