“Your sister has left.” She muttered as she took a piece of flesh from her dining table.

  He nodded, “Yes, I know.”

“Then you truly have no queen.”

As if placed by his mother, the queen, he thought on the pointed statement. “I still have you.”

The queen had breached the twenty lengths between the two in a matter of moments so quick that Agkhor hadn’t even had the chance to impulsively respond. Her talons were on his neck and her mouth wide open exposing jagged and dangerous shards of teeth. A growl came from her. “I remain queen and if you ever make a move against me, I shall rip the flesh from your neck before you have the time to scream.”

She released him and Agkhor fell backward. “Yes, yes, you are queen.

“Then leave me. I have much to plan before you are to become king.”

Agkhor allowed a grin to escape his lips.

“Before you leave, I will say this. Do not think for a moment I will ever forget you have murdered my husband. Also, do not think I am so blind to your treachery as he was.

At that Agkhor stepped from the queen’s chamber in time for one of his guards to find him.

“It has been done, my prince. The Cavern of the Ancients has been sealed off. They cannot escape. Ever.”

  “The princess?”

  “Inside.”

Agkhor nodded, “You’ve done well.” Agkhor then pulled a hidden blade from his leather chest armor and plunged it into the first heart of the guard. “I am a king. If you ever call me prince again, I will send my blade into both hearts. You are so lucky to have a benevolent Lord.”

Aput and the princess were off in another chamber as Shook held Shakja near him in what would become their bedroom chamber. Neither knew how long they’d been alone, but the eerie silence was difficult to grasp. Thousands were entombed with them and yet not a sound was made. Perhaps it was fear, perhaps it was awaiting orders. The one thing all knew is that their future was uncertain.

Shakja, closed her eyes, trying to pull out even the slightest words but could find none. Though, soft and fearful vibrations bounced from the walls in exponential growing fashion.

Shook puled her close, “It will be okay,” he said as he drifted off to sleep.

Shakja allowed a faint smile, but as she felt one of her fangs slide along a lip she wasn’t so sure, but knew if there were anyone she needed more now than ever, he was laying next to her.
