The Inquiry Agent
by William King
London 1841, a city on the edge. The poor are starving in the streets. The wealthy fear an explosion of violence. Corruption is everywhere. Jack Brodie, former Bow Street Runner, associate of thieves, is hired to recover incriminating documents by a wealthy old merchant and his beautiful ward from the lawless rogues that took them. It seems like a simple job but an old and vicious enemy has returned from the penal colony of Australia seeking vengeance for the death of his brother, for which he blames Brodie. It is a matter that can end only in blood.
