Shaitan Wars 2: Wrath of the Shaitans
by Sudipto Majumdar
This is the second book of the series 'Shaitan Wars'. The first book was 'The Battle of Titan'. The book and the series continues telling the story of humanity's rapid but perilous journey from a technologically primitive species to a major power in the galaxy.
The story begins where it left off in the last book. Humans having defeated the last invasion of the aliens called Shaitan on Titan, go about studying the alien technologies. Meanwhile a shockwave goes through the Shaitan worlds. They have never been defeated in a battle for eons, much less by a primitive species like the humans. They plan their revenge to teach the humans a lesson before exterminating them.
The story then moves 20 years later. Humans have improved their technologies, some by directly learning from the Shaitans, others on their own. Humans have also organized themselves better to fight the next invasion which they expect any time now. They now have a unified space command and a common space marines.
The Shaitans return in greater numbers as was expected, but no one had expected so many and from unexpected directions. The Shaitans also surprise with newer and more powerful ships which they had not bothered to send before.
A huge cast of humans from soldiers to scientists to engineers are able to defend humanity despite inferior technology, due to the ingenuity and bravery of the human defenders. Many characters from the previous encounter, fight along with a newer generation. They create their own dynamics and complex relationships, which is the hallmark of any human story.
The battle on Mars takes surface battle to new heights, and during the battle the humans discover an amazing and shocking secret.
Human fleet fights the Shaitan fleet in space and on Mars and the Moon. Humans barely manage to prevent the Shaitan fleet from reaching Earth.
Just as the humans believe they have beaten back the enemy, they realize that they have not seen the real wrath of the Shaitans.
About the Author
Sudipto was born a year before humans first set foot on the moon. He has felt cheated all his life that his generation is not roaming across the solar system as was the promise at that time. He has gone about his life stuck on earth, doing mundane things like earning a degree in Computer Science & Engineering, and as if that wasn't mundane enough going ahead and getting a Masters in Business Administration to seal his fate of leading an ordinary life as an earthling. He has tried to extract a measure of revenge from the society for robbing him of his space adventures, rightfully due to his generation, by turning entrepreneur a few times and unleashing his products on the society. He has started up a software product company, an e-commerce company and a mobile application studio at various times during his career, while being a corporate slave in the interregnum. He has tried to fill the void left by the unfulfilled promise to his generation with his rock guitar and his books, traveling in his mind not just in space, but in time both future and past. In the later part of his life the void has been further filled by his family consisting of his wife and two daughters. Golf has also tried to fill the void, but it just can't find enough space left over after the family. Sudipto lives with his family in New Delhi, and would love to hear from you.
