The Golden Gates
by C. R. Kliewer
On an empty beach a body burns . . .
It’s 1932 - Prohibition is still in effect across the United States, the Depression is deepening world-wide, Germany is seeing the rise of a charismatic new leader, and a set of plans for the US Navy’s newest airship, the USS Macon, has gone missing from the Goodyear Airdock in Akron, Ohio. So what, if any, do these events have to do with the grisly Raven murders along California’s golden coastline?
On the San Francisco Bay, aboard the illustrious Allura, where the elite of Hollywood have gathered to celebrate the successful launch of a new film as well as conduct some business over a few mixed drinks, reports of a murder that closely resembles those of a notorious serial killer bring SFPD’s Inspector Horace out to investigate. As the body count rises, will he be able to bring down one of the most brutal killers on the western seaboard before a national disaster occurs?
