Stepbrother: New RulesPrologueShe went through her mental checklist: hands up, weight on toes, shoulders loose. She bounced, trying to hide her anxiety. It was the first time she’d ever been in this position—the first time she’d ever stared down another person whose goal was to completely physically dominate her. She was scared, and for a moment she considered turning around and walking away. She knew she didn’t have to do it, but some wild, primal part of her wanted to. She wanted to know if she could handle the pain. She wanted to know if she could inflict pain—deliberately hurt another human being. She wanted to test herself, push herself beyond the everyday tedium of her life. She craved something different—something raw and real.
Chapter OneEvelyn Caswell looked up and down the hallway one last time before she opened the door to the hotel room. She knew William couldn’t be more than ten minutes behind her, and she wanted to have enough time to change out of her uniform and into something a little sexier. As the heavy door closed behind her, Evelyn looked at her reflection in the full-length mirror that faced the bed.
Chapter TwoBefore Evelyn opened the door to the townhouse she and her mother shared, she knew William was inside. She could smell delicious aromas filtering through the door and enticing her to enter. Buoyed by the confidence she’d aced her exam, she bounced through the door.
Chapter ThreeEvelyn walked out onto the street, looked around, and took a deep breath. She’d felt like she was going to suffocate … or explode … or say something awful inside, and she’d just had to get out and get some air. She was a little anxious that William was alone with her mother and Malcolm, and she worried he might spill the news about his relationship with Evelyn, but even though she wanted to manage that piece of information, she simply couldn’t stay in that house for a second longer.
Chapter Four“Evelyn. You awake?”
Chapter FiveEvelyn looked up into his eyes. “I don’t like it either. And I miss you too.” She lowered her voice. “I want you.”
Chapter SixEvelyn dreamed she was outside somewhere warm. She was reclining in the sun, letting the warmth sink deep into her, body relaxed and stretched out, as if she hadn’t a care in the world. In the dream, she could feel the sun on her skin, and she realized she was naked. It was as though the sun physically touched her, running its rays along her stomach, dancing over her thighs, and finally settling on her breasts, teasing her nipples in a way that brought a rush of wetness between her legs. Feeling herself begin to wake from the delicious dream, Evelyn kept her eyes closed tight, not wanting the sensations to stop.
Chapter SevenIt was the middle of the afternoon before Evelyn realized she and William hadn’t planned a cover story—how to explain to their parents they were both going out. She figured she could just tell Ella she had to work on a group project for school, but she wondered if their parents would get suspicious if both she and Will left at the same time. And would they have to take two cars?
Chapter EightIt was after midnight when Evelyn heard the front door open. Her mother had gone to bed hours before, when Malcolm had returned home from work. The evening had turned out to be a good one, as far as Evelyn was concerned. She and her mother had talked about Evelyn’s change of career plans, and they’d agreed to leave the discussion of William and Evelyn’s relationship for another time. Evelyn wasn’t sure if her mother and Malcolm would talk about the newly revealed relationship, but she’d decided she would no longer try to manage the situation. If they wanted to talk about it, she’d let them talk about it.
Chapter NineEvelyn awoke to William’s erection poking her in the thigh, while his fingers sought out her breasts.
