In spite of Lundyn's prayers, her mother never stopped using drugs and the bridges children were removed. The anger and frustration of being separated from her siblings was compounded by Lundyn's placement with a suburban white Christian family. Away from everything and everyone she had ever known and being thrust into a world of comfort only reinforced Lundyn's anger - Why didn't her mother love her enough to stop using drugs? Why couldn't her siblings stay together? Who was she to deserve being placed with a loving foster family? It took years before Lundyn was able to receive the love and blessings given by the Woodard's. Her growing faith allowed her to accept that an unanswered prayer doesn't mean God isn't listening. Although initially consumed by self-pity, Lundyn also came to realize that sometimes God gives us the things we need before we know to ask.
