Alternate Universe--the world of the cat-like hadens of Ducran is doomed in this alternate universe as in The Lion's Woman, but this time its an asteroid that brings devastation. Enroute to a colony destination, they are witness to an extinction level even. A small party, including the very unwilling Monica, are sent to learn what can be learned ... and there she stays, stranded.
