Love Grows In The Dark

  In fact, each and every single thing in my life is all in mess and I have left with nothing except fighting for my rights.

  Do I have other choices to make, except taking revenge for my whole life that turned into nightmares since that night?

  What am I supposed to do, when I see the murderer of my mom and dad living a great life just before my eyes, without worrying about whatever he did to get to this position by betraying his own people?

  He did not just kill the alpha and luna of the Lunar High pack that night, he even killed me as a little girl along with them, leaving me no other choices than to grow up soon without the love and warmth that a child deserves.

  And not just that, we were not the only victim who had to suffer due to his sin. Cause there were others as well, who was as unfortunate as I am.

  So, there was only one answer to the question that Jacob had asked,

  “Until the end. I have nothing to lose, cause he had already snatched away everything from me years ago. And now it was time to make him pay for what he did to all of us. But, I will never grant him an easy death, as he must suffer...even beyond anyone can ever imagine.” All the words came out of my mouth effortlessly, as if I was living in those very words. I meant each and every one of the words that I said. For this moment I could not think about anything else, except the fact that I must end what I have started but I will make sure to write my own happy ending with the misery of someone else who once escaped from the justice of fate, but not now, not anymore.

  “Good then.” Jacob just nodded his head while he seemed quite worried about something else right at this moment. He must be struggling to decide where to start.

  “So, now, you tell me. How did uncle Benjamin get to imprison you for years, behind everyone's back?” I asked him, seeing that he was still thinking a lot while Kaith and I were both becoming more and more impatient to know the part of his story, so that I could recollect all the pieces of the truth from the past.

  And then, finally, he started,

  “Well, all these started so many years ago. Probably more than ten years if I am not wrong.

  Everything started when one day we found our alpha and luna of the Blood Bay pack lying dead at their own house all covered in blood. They were merely recognisable back then, cause their bodies were ripped apart ever so brutally and there were no places left on them where they were not scratched viciously.

  I must say that the death of the alpha and luna of the Blood Bay pack, indeed seemed mysterious back then. Cause there were no other clues left for us than to believe that this was the doing of no one but the rogues out there who kept attacking into our territory for quite some time. Even though everyone assumed that it was the rogues who killed them both without any mercy, strangely there was no evidence of the fact that it was rogues who dared to intrude into the house.

  Anyway, with the lack of proof, we could not do anything to take a step against such loss that our pack went through. So, I personally decided to keep looking for any kind of hint which will lead me to the real culprit.

  But, to the least of my expectation, one of the alpha's twin sons came to me. He was very young back then, but when he came to me after days, he was looking so terrified for some reason.

  I realised that it was not just us who lost our alpha and luna but these kids had lost their mother and father as well at such a young age. But little did I know that he was something more to say to me which absolutely explained his devastated state.

  I was completely shocked when he told me everything whatever he saw that day. Even I was trembling after imagining what he had to go through, whereas he was just a kid. But one thing was clear to me that if I let him tell what he had witnessed back then, his life might be in danger cause the one who did this must be a cold-blooded murderer.

  So, I made a promise to him that I will help him find the killer of his mom and dad, but for that, he needed to stay quiet about all these. Even though I knew that I was hiding the only clue what I have got, but I had no other choices back then, cause even when he saw that there was one who killed his parents, he could not identify him at all. So I needed to dig into the matter even more without anyone's awareness, only because I did not want to alert the culprit even before I could gather much evidence and at the same time I was intended to keep the Blood Bay pack safe, at least until I got each and every proof against the one.” Jacob stopped after a while, and again he zoned out to somewhere else in his mind.

  “What did you do then?” Kaith could not hold back his curiosity to more and ended up asking Jacob, without bothering the least about the fact that he was interrupting him to think.

  But Jacob did not show any sign to feel any disturbed for Kaith's such act, and answered his question in no time.

  “Well, I tried...I kept trying to find someone who was quite similar to what Kazan had explained to me. But I could find none back then. It appeared that the one who killed our alpha and luna, must mean away to hide in some place.

  Years passed, still I got nothing in my hand.

  During this time, I had to keep Kazan with the Blood Bay pack while Markus, his twin brother had to go with their grandfather. And Kazan became all alone but still, he never complained as he kept believing in the promise that I once made.

  And after so many years of struggle, one day strangely I saw someone on the streets who seemed similar to the one I was dying to find out. So, I decided to follow him and ended up in the Lunar High Pack.

  Even though I visited all the packs around us in the past few years in search of the one, but I found no one suspicious back then. Then he must have come out of his rat hole after all those years, thinking that his sin was long forgotten. But little did he know that I was still there to make him remember what exactly he did.

  And that was how, one day I decided to visit Lunar High Pack once again, and before that, I told everything to Seth who was the beta of the Lunar High, cause we became friends over years and he promised me to help. He arranged me a meeting with his alpha mad luna, so that I could show them all the evidence that I had collected over these years against one of their pack members.

  But little did I know that, my one single move will cause even more disaster in a later time. Cause even before I could tell them who was the one I came to take with me to make him pay for his deeds after showing all the evidence in my hand, we got interrupted by the very one whom I was looking for.

  Yes, Benjamin.

  He came running to inform that their only daughter, that means you, had gone after some rogues and that too alone. After hearing such news, anyone would rush to save their child without thinking about anything else. So, the did exactly the same and went to rescue you before time, while they even forget to verify if that was a trap for them or not.

  I guess that was exactly what Benjamin wanted. And I was left all alone in the office only to face this vicious murderer Benjamin who was no different than some rogue.

  Even after so, I was all ready to take him down no matter what but, he tricked me and injected me with wolfsbane in our fight inside the office which I was winning of course. But I was no more able to fight against him and blacked out.

  I did not know what exactly happened next, but when I opened my eyes the next time, I was already tied up by those treacherous shackles inside the pitch dark room.

  For so long I could not figure out where I was kept, but after living in there and observing each and everything I guessed that the place must be somewhere in this pack, cause he would never afford to keep me somewhere else if he needed to know how I was aware of what he did years ago when no one was around to witness his sin.

  During this time, I also figured out that he became the alpha of the Lunar High, that means he killed the real alpha and luna as well.

  So, except enduring his brutal torture for all these years, I had no other choices left, because no matter what I needed to keep the truth to me only, giving enough time for Kazan to find out the truth on his own in time.

br />   But I was expecting the least to see you, all of a sudden today.” Jacob stopped at last and looked at me.

  Everything started to become all clear to me bit by bit. But even before I could say something, Kaith asked all of a sudden,

  “Dad knew about all this, the whole time?” Kaith's pale face was enough to realise that he was completely shocked to know the whole truth.

  “Seth, is your father?” Jacob asked while his eyes widened unconsciously.

  “Yes. He is Seth's only son, Kaith.” I introduced him to Jacob, and said further,

  “And yes, Kaith. Seth knew about all this since the beginning and he did tell me everything that day when I went to discuss with him about what I was planning to do. So, you do not have to freak out. I believe he has more to tell. So, it would be great if you can call him and ask him to come here. I believe he would like to see his friend after so many years.”

  Episode 63

  Summer's P.OV

  ****flashback continues****

  We did not have to wait for long after Kaith called his dad to ask him to come over. And within a little span of time, it was Seth standing at the doorstep of my house already.

  “What is the matter, son? That you could not tell over the phone. Is it something serious? What did you do this time?” Seth confronted the poor Kaith while making his way in, through the front door, leaving my poor friend no chance to explain at all. It seemed that Kaith really took over his dad.

  Anyway, just when Seth entered the sitting area where the two of us, Jacob and I were waiting ever so eagerly for him to arrive, he got completely frozen right at his spot, while his eyes were already fixed on the new member in our house right now, whom he was seeing after a very long time.

  The expression on his face was clear enough to tell that he was completely shocked to find that the unexpected happened at last. He could not form any words for the time being and just keep standing while he was still trying to process all the things that he was seeing just before his eyes.

  “How are you, Seth?” Jacob spoke up, seeing that Seth was not at all going to say anything first due to utter shock. His warm smile showed how happy he was to meet someone whom he once called his friend.

  “Jacob? Is that you? Oh my goodness, is that really you? How are you here after all these years? You do not know, how much I tried to find you out.” With that, Seth rushed to his side and pulled him in a hug desperately, as if he just found out his long lost treasure. Their friendship was indeed something.

  I did not interrupt both of them neither did Kaith while the two, Jacob and Seth was still on the very process to recollect all the things about what happened before as well as what is happening right now.

  It was quite hard for both of them to believe that they would even get to meet today, in such a way, with the least of their expectations.

  “Yes, it is me, Seth. It is been a long time now. I have grown a bit old too, so did you.” With Jacob's words, both of them laughed together after so long.

  “Years, Jacob. So many years have passed. Even though I could not save you that night, but believe me I have never stopped looking for you, not even for once. It was just that I had other responsibilities to keep, so I could not take risks to come forth, even though I wanted to turn the whole world upside down.” Seth's eyes became gloomy for a bit, after remembering the time from the cruel past.

  “Dad, we want to know what exactly happened that night? Where were you? Why could you not be with the alpha and luna when everything happened that night?” Kaith asked, as he just could not hold himself back anymore to know all about that night. Seth turned to see him at last. It seemed that he had totally forgotten about our presence all this while, after finding his long lost friend. But now, he came back to reality once again.

  Seth looked at us all one by one, and he might have realised that it was now his turn to clear everything out.

  “Well, if I am not wrong, Jacob must have said most of the truth by now. Right?” Seth asked while settling himself on the couch along with all of us.

  “Yes, he did.” I replied in no time.

  “Then you know mostly all of what I know. That evening, I arranged a meeting for Jacob to meet our alpha and luna, after knowing everything about Benjamin and what he had caused to the Blood Bay pack years ago.

  So, I was assuming that Benjamin was not going to sit quietly if he ever gets the slightest hint about the visit of someone from the Blood Bay pack. And it was quite difficult to hide it from his sight, at least when he always used to roam around our alpha, as if he had some motive behind his each and every action.

  And exactly that happened what I had assumed. He somehow managed to know about the meeting, and I even overheard him while he was manipulating you with some fake news about the rogue. And it did not take much time for me to realise what he was planning to do.

  So, I needed to make sure that you stay safe and that was why I followed you that evening when you went alone. Yes, it was one of the jobs assigned to me by the alpha that no matter what, I always need to protect you from any kind of danger when he can not do that because of the pack business. And that was why I stayed hidden and behind you all the time without much of your awareness, cause I did not want you to get cautious of me.

  But little did I know that it was just a mere trap, not for Summer to get killed by the rogue, but he used Summer to kill alpha and luna that night.

  And when we came back, it was already late. Both alpha and luna were lying dead on the ground, all tattered with blood and dust. Even when the whole situation made me completely out of my mind for some time, due to the utmost shock and rage, one thing I knew very clearly that I was in no position to prove Benjamin as the murderer when it was easier for him to declare me as the killer, just like he accused you as the reason behind the death of your own parents.

  How vicious!!

  I could do nothing, as I was feeling completely helpless. But then I thought of Jacob, who was the only one who knew about everything the whole time. So, without wasting any more time, I rushed to find him. But it seemed that my luck was not in my favour that night. Cause no matter how much I tried, I just could not find a single trace of him, when I came back.

  He was gone. And I had no other choices left than keeping my mouth shut until the time comes, cause I needed to protect all those who might get us justice one day, only if they stay away from the vicious claws of Benjamin to grow up strong enough to fight for their revenge.

  I am not talking about you only, Sam. I am talking about Kazan as well. He also needed to stay away from Benjamin's suspicion. Cause, if it was him who took away Jacob, that means he would definitely try to find out how someone from the Blood Bay pack got to know about what crime he did years ago.

  And yes, except us now, he knows about everything as well.” Seth stopped at last and breathed a sigh of relief, as he finally got to tell everything that he was keeping inside himself for long.

  “You mean to tell that it was Benjamin who killed the alphas and lunas of both the pack Blood Bay and Lunar High?” Kaith asked, as he seemed still unsatisfied with whatever information he got.

  “Yes. That is what we were trying to say, if you were not listening carefully, Kaith.” Seth taunted his son, but I was wondering about something else. And it seemed that Kaith was thinking the same as me, as he asked right after,

  “Why? For what reason, someone would ever do that?” Even though his question made both of Jacob and Seth think over once again, but neither of them had any kind of answers to that.

  “Only he could tell that, Kaith. But to know the reason, we never got to confront him ever, till now.” Jacob replied.

  “And now, you tell me, how did you get here all of a sudden? After observing Benjamin for all these years, I figured out that it must be you whom he was keeping as a hostage inside the alpha's secret room, where he used to visit every night only to come out tainted with blood all over his clothes. I
assumed that it was you who was suffering in there but I could do nothing for you, except watching.” Seth's face fell down as he was seeing himself as a complete failure, which he was not for sure. Cause, to me both of them was courageous enough to stay quiet only for the sake of us.

  “Well, it is Summer, who brought me out of there this morning, through a secret tunnel that runs down this pack which no one knew before, except her, I guess.” Just when Jacob said that, another shade of fear covered Seth's face in no time.

  “What is going to happen if Benjamin goes in there to see Jacob tonight as well. What is he going to do if he finds that Jacob disappeared all of a sudden?” Whatever Seth said was enough to get worried, but what is done is done now. So, we needed to think about how we were going to face the consequences.

  “I do not know. But I think we should be ready to face anything and everything from now on.” That was what I had to say, but little did I know what was coming next.

  A sudden chill ran down my spine realising that Kazan was going to suffer the consequences due to what mess I had caused for Benjamin in order to take revenge. And I did not want anyone to pay wrongly for whatever chaos I had created.

  No matter if I hate him or not, I just can not stop to worry the hell out of my mind, thinking that it was me who pretty much provoked him to go out of my house, even when he did not want to leave at all.

  What if he already got caught by the army that uncle Benjamin had sent to kill him?

  What if he was already....?

  No.

  That can not happen.

  I can not let anything happen to Kazan.

  Leaving everything behind, I rushed out of my house in no time, without thinking much about what should I do or not right at this situation.

  The wind kept howling outside while I kept running here and there without any kind of clue about where exactly I needed to go.
