CHAPTER 13

  Jake met Zac first time when he goes out of the town alone first time to buy silver necklace for Kate’s 17th birthday.

  Then Zac contact him through Face book and starting to call him. When Jake and Kate goes to club, where Zac invited him. Jake was searching for Zac but he did not come, he sends someone else to give him a message that he has to go out of the country for business.

  He tells him that his father is a business man, Jake get impress by his bold personality. Zac show Jake so many clubs and offer him to join him.

  Zac introduced him to Emma, she’s young but mature girl. She doesn’t talk much. Jake likes her, when he met her first time. She was Zac’s adopted sister as Zac told him.

  Jake did not show her his interest he still remember his humiliation about Sophie and he didn't want that to happen again because he think he’s not her type. She was smart and confident person, she very beautiful too and he thought she never take interest in him.

  Sometimes Jake have thought that “why Zac is taking interest in him so much” but then let that go. Because he like his company and Emma, also Jake getting too much attention in his company. Everyone here likes him. He did not want to leave them.

  The night Jake and Kate fight over club. Jake was with Emma. Talking about her she told him not to call Kate as Jake feels guilty for lying Kate. “That way she understands you want to be alone” Emma said holding Jake’s hand. Zac know as long as Jake is with Kate he'll never come back to them.

  “Why are you calling Zac, I told you don't call me, I can't come OK” Jake said loudly.

  He was in his room getting ready for graduating party. It was two week Jake was not taking Zac's call or text. He’s spending time with Kate.

  Zac has been calling since morning

  “It’s me… Emma...” the voice other side of phone said, Jake heart pounds so fast.

  Jake never thought Emma call her because whenever they meet she never look at him that way.

  “Sorry I thought Zac's calling ...you call me?” Jake said he sat on his bed.

  “Yes... you're not coming for the party... Zac is pretty upset he thought you are his friend” Emma said in her British accent.

  “I am but I can't come, I have to go in our graduating party I promise Ki I won't talk to you guys again... I am sorry” Jake said in low tune

  “Oh..., Zac told me that, but I don’t believe him. I thought you are taking time to think about your relationship…I mean with Zac and”

  She takes a pause then continues “me… I thought we have something common... Well I think your date is lucky tonight ... bye” Emma said and hang up.

  Jake feel shocked and wanted to call her back but this time Zac attend the call Jake said

  “Emma... I'm...”

  “Emma is gone what did you says to her? I never seen her so upset” Zac said “I can't come” Jake said. Zac can feel Jake's upset, so to make him more upset he said

  “I thought you'd like her, well she was excited for tonight ... for you I thought we're a family dude!! Guess the only person happy tonight is Katharine... Right... Jake” Jake disconnects the call and then prepared for party without thinking anything what Zac said.

  He took Alice as his date, Alice was so happy. She was wearing white and black stripes gown her hair are down on her one shoulder. At the ball Alice was staring at Jake as they dance then she said

  “I'm going to New York University too Jake” Jake was shocked because he get in NY University too. He smiled at her than said

  “Great it means we are going to stay together for a long time... Right and I got stuck with you there too” Alice smile as Jake smile. He can see she was so excited about that and he know why.

  Kate going to say yes to Paul tonight for their relationship. She told Jake about this but she notice that he is lost.

  She asked him about what’s going on but he nod in negative. He’s still thinking about Emma and Zac, he want to go with them but he also can't broke Kate’s heart.

  He was standing in the balcony of Jennifer's house thinking about Emma he call her but she didn’t attend his call and disconnect it. Suddenly Jake feel so much rage he want to break his phone but someone call him from back and he stop.

  “Jake what are you doing up here man... Didn’t see you in a while, the weather is pretty bad maybe it's going to rain what say?” Paul said looking at the sky.

  Jake look at him then said “nothing I was busy ...well you are happy than usual” Jake asked as notice him glowing

  “Yeah... Kate said yes man!! I'm flying... I really like her Jake and I promise you I will take care of her than you do...” Paul said he was smiling. Jake look at him then have thought.

  “Why Kate have someone if I don't” he smiled at Paul and put his left arm around him then said

  “I'm happy for you man... really Ki is so lucky she got you... I heard that you are going to M.I.T ... well do you know who else is going there”

  “Who” Paul asked in serious mood, Paul was not going to M.I.T he got admission in Boston College but he didn't tell that to Jake and Kate knows it. But he wants to know who's going there.

  “Tyler Flaws... his dad told my dad and I told Ki... I thought you knew... you know she never notice you, but since she know that you are going to M.I.T. She likes you… I don't understand why...do you know?” Jake said.

  He wants Paul to think that Kate wants to go with him because of Tyler and Paul was thinking exact same.

  After that Paul run downstairs Jake smile and follow him. Paul runs outside to go home. Kate saw him leaving she calls him but he didn't listen to her.

  Kate was wearing light yellow sleeveless gown. She run to catch him outside the house she crab Paul's hand when he turn she saw his eyes full of tears

  “What happen to you Paul why are you leaving?” Kate asked with confusion

  “Do you love me Kate?” Paul asked looking at her. She leaves his hand then smile and said

  “Yeah Paul of course ... why you asked that?”

  “LIAR... I CAN'T BELIEVE KATE YOU STILL LYING TO ME... I TRUST YOU WITH MY LIFE AND YOU WANT TO BE WITH ME SO YOU CAN MEET TYLER... BECAUSE HE'S ALSO LIVE IN BOSTON” Paul said loudly.

  He was very angry, he feels betrayed. He takes off his glass and wipes his tears.

  Kate was in shocked to hear him

  “What are you saying ... I do... don't know that... I swear that I don't know that” Kate lies because she didn’t want him to get more upset she tries to hold his hand but he move backward. She feels that.

  “Well great than I tell you, you know now happy” Paul said and moves to his car.

  “Stop Paul who told you... I mean how can you do this to me?” Kate said

  “Jake told me Kate and he knows you better than anyone. You did tell him about all of this and your plan. But he told me about all of this and I trust him because he never lied about you...I really like you Kate...and you lie to me and break my heart ... I'm just giving you free pass to go” Paul said then move but Kate stop him again to say

  “Paul please... please trust me ...may be Jake get misunderstand ... please don't leave I really like you... I do please give me a chance... I swear you won’t regret it” Kate said her voice gets heavy but Paul didn't listen

  “OK tell me do you love me Kate?” Paul asked as he opens his car door.

  “Paul... Just give me some time I can make things work” Kate said with smile

  “I take this as no and now I’m regretting why I think about you” Paul said and sits in the car.

  Kate tried to stop him “please ... Paul do go like this... Trust me”

  “Leave me Kate... I can't ...and Jake never lie to me I trust him.”

  The weather get bad, Kate was standing looking at Paul's car leaving. She takes cover as rain start. She feels someone was standing at her back she turns. It was Jake she looks at him with wide eyes. She was astonished, she can't believe that Jake did this to her.

nbsp; She wants to give him slap but then think he doesn’t deserve that too. She turns away and get in her car. She left leaving Jake wet on guilt.

  She hate rain so she driving too fast to get home. As she reached home. She runs in her room. Maria gets worried as she sees her like this.

  Kate closed her room door. She was standing in front of mirror. She was enraged. She's taking deep breath to calm her down. But when she sees a picture which was placed on her study table she takes it and throws it.

  It hit the wall and the glass breaks in to pieces like Kate’s heart. It was a picture of Jake and Kate make faces on Jake's birthday. She can't believe that Jake took revenge with her.

  She cares about him so much and that’s what he do in return. He destroys her dreams. She sat on her bed and cry loud. Maria knocks the door several times but it was lock and Kate didn't answer.

  Jake walks toward his home in the rain, all the way he was thinking about what he did to Kate. He can’t believe himself that he makes Kate cry. His heart, his soul was cursing him. He opens the door of his house as he was walking toward stairs he saw Mariana was working in kitchen.

  She shut the kitchen’s light off then move toward her room, suddenly Jake call her with painful voice “mom...” she stop as he calls her she can feel the pain in his voice, of course she was his mother but she did not turn to see him and move toward her room.

  Jake again calls her “mom... Please I need you, I did something... I want you mom... Please I feel so alone, I need to tell you something…I don’t mean to do that…but I did it and now I feel so pain inside of me…I need to take it out”

  Jake tears falls on his cheeks but Mariana still not turn she feels his pain, she’s controlling her tears but there was something that was stopping her as she was squashing her hands together to control her tears but she let them go when Jake said

  “Mom... Please I am so scared... Please”.

  Before she turn to hug Jake Dr. Drew calls her “Mariana where did you put my file I ca...” Dr. Drew stops as he see Jake “I’ll put in your cabin... Let me take it out for you” Mariana said and left before Dr. Drew can see her tears. Jake stands there weeping, Dr. Drew move toward him. He put his hand on Jake’s shoulder, Jake look at him then hugs him so tightly “I’m very bad person dad... I did something bad ... Please forgive me... I don’t want to be bad a person dad” Jake said as he was crying.

  “You are not... You are not a bad person Jake” Dr. Drew said but his word was not real come out of his heart.
