Lauren laughed. “The way you think like I do—or else read my mind—is pretty scary.” She placed her hand against his cheek. “Your family—I never want their feelings to get hurt.”

He turned so he could kiss her palm. “If we tell them before we leave, they’ll send us with their blessings. And they can keep a secret. Besides, if the wedding's here or in Vancouver, the paparazzi could get crazy.”

“You mean the nasty puck bunnies?”

“Good point. We didn’t exactly keep a low profile today. Another reason to elope.” He pulled her closer and kissed her. “Romantic, simple, nothing to get stressed…”

“…or overwhelmed.” Lauren’s eyes sparkled. “You know what happens when I get overwhelmed, Marty.”

She takes off, disappears…nope, not happening. “Babe, if you think you'll get overwhelmed in the next few days, I’m not letting you out of my sight. Even if I need to use handcuffs.”

He watched Lauren’s eyes dance with sudden mischief. “Why, Mr. Martin, I do like the way you think. Maybe you should keep those handcuffs handy—just in case. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed right now.”
