An Unexpected Thing

“I know.” Marek nodded, then kissed Jason’s hand. “But let me do this. I think by now it’s obvious Arty went back to Keagan. I can confirm that with him for later, but with one warlock living in a dragon clan, you think the warlocks here will mind one dragon wanting to help them out?”

Jason blinked. He could hardly understand the amount of selflessness that came with making such an offer, but there it was.

Marek wanted to stay here with Jason. Jason had to admit, he was worried about the idea of where they would live if he and Marek were to keep this going.

Which Jason did want to do. A lot.

The fact that Marek was taking this burden from him was nothing short of astounding.

“Even after what they did to you? They locked you up.”

Marek shrugged. “Nothing I couldn’t get out of, as you’ve seen.” He stroked Jason’s cheek. “It doesn’t have to be forever. You don’t have to worry about trapping me here. We can always decide where we want to live later if you want a change. I just want to be there with you.”

  The sincerity in his words…

It was too much for Jason to bear.

He nodded, pressing his mouth to Marek’s chest. To the spot right over his heart. “So long as you’re there, I don’t care where I am.”

Marek kissed him as though he’d proclaimed his love once again, and Jason was content.

Now, if only he could figure out why those dragons had looked so spell cast when they’d fought. If there was another coven out there trying to get ahold of their property and resources, it would need to be dealt with. But for now, kissing with his mate in bed was what the doctor ordered.
