“I’m never gonna leave you, Lawrynn. Do you hear me? This is it right here, just me and you from here on out. You feel this shit between us? I’ll never walk away from this shit. We stuck with each other. Now throw that pussy back at me, and make your man cum,” he told her as he licked her neck and ear.

Instead of waiting for her to do what he said, Murder took it upon himself to speed up his strokes.

Lawrynn could only moan and let the tears fall from her eyes. There was no way he could know what she was thinking. Maybe he is the one for me is what Lawrynn started to realize.

  Chapter 15

Lawrynn and Murder laid in each other’s arms after cleaning themselves up. They were both lost in their individual thoughts. Murder was the first to break the thickening silence that encased the room.

“How did you find out that Pain was with Nikki?” Murder asked.

He’d always wondered why he never heard about her fucking up either of them. He had lived in the hood long enough to know that any female who found out her man was creeping, especially with family, her next move would be to go he hell off on everybody, but she never did that he had seen.

“For one, we were already broken up when I found out. Then, on top of that, I figured I just had fucked up luck when it came to the men in my life and my cousin. I was at the doctor the same day they found out she was pregnant. I was leaving from the back when they were coming in. I ducked off in a room, only for it to be one of those connected rooms. Of course, they would end up in the room next door. The only separation was a heavy ass curtain. The side I was on had the light out, so they never thought anyone was over there.

“I could hear everything that was said. I heard her ask him what he was hoping for her to have. He answered that as long as the baby had ten fingers and toes, and was healthy, he would be happy. My heart stopped right there. I was already too broken, so crying wasn’t gonna happen. I had already been crying and trying to figure out what I did so wrong for him to leave me like he did. Just a fucking note on the fridge. Who the fuck does that?

“Anyway, I heard him say he had to go to the bathroom, so I waited for him to leave, and then I left after that. I didn’t even make it to the car before a message came through from him saying he was sorry and he made a mistake. I turned my ass around and headed back to the room they were in. I handed her the phone with the message showing, hoping she would realize that he was still trying to reach out to me to try and fix what he did. Instead, she twisted it all around, saying he was telling me that I was the mistake in his life. Saying that I was a mistake, not her or the baby.” Lawrynn paused, remembering that day like it had just happened.

“Please tell me you hit her ass. You’re too fucking nice, man. I get it, though. I know you don’t want to deal with the bullshit. However, this shit right here is grounds for knocking the shit out of her,” Murder said, feeling himself get upset for Lawrynn.

“I hit her hard in the face. We ended up fighting right in the room. I ended up having to change doctors after that. I don’t know if they had to or not. For two weeks after that, I looked over my shoulder, thinking that she was going to call the police on me. The police never came. I don’t know what stopped her from going to them. She’s always been the type to start a fight just to call the police when she got her ass kicked,” Lawrynn told him as she shook her head.

She never understood why her cousin was the way she was. She used to think that Nikki had some kind of mental problem from the way she acted. Her Auntie never got her tested for anything, so she stopped thinking about it and chalked it up to Nikki just being a hoe.

  “Damn,” Murder said.

“At one point, Nikki, Nell, and I were all really close. My grandmother used to call us the Three Musketeers or Three the Hard Way. We would do everything together. If you had a problem with one, then you had a problem with all of us. She went away one summer and came back acting like the hoe she is today. Nell and I would joke that she drank some hoe water or a hoe potion wherever she was. We asked her how her trip was all the time. She would only say fine, and that was it,” Lawrynn said.

“Do you think somebody did something to her? You know, like molested her or some shit like that?” Murder asked. He knew that a lot of times, when little girls turned promiscuous, there was a reason behind it. Most of the time, sexual abuse was involved.

“If they did, she’s never said anything to anybody about it,” Lawrynn said. She hoped that wasn’t the case, but nobody would ever know if Nikki never said anything. “Enough about me. How did you get the name Murder? I’ve always wondered about that,” she asked.

“I kill niggas, straight like that,” Murder simply said.

“I know there’s more to it than that,” Lawrynn hit him in the arm and laughed.

“If I tell you, then you’re gonna have to promise never to leave me,” he said.

“Why do you keep saying that?”

  “Saying what?”

“Saying that I’m never gonna leave or you’ll never leave me. We’re still fresh, how can you say that we’ll always be together?”

“Because we will, period, point blank.”

“Then why keep asking me about it?”

“I’m not asking. I’m just gonna keep saying it until you get with the program,” he said seriously.

“Don’t get off the topic. Tell me why they call you Murder, Maurice,” she told him, letting him know his little trick of distraction didn’t work.

“My pops was killed when I was thirteen. The day he was killed, me and some friends were playing basketball at the courts. We heard the shots and everything. One of the guys thought it would be a great idea to go over and see the dead body. We didn’t know if they were dead or not, but in our hood, nine times out of ten, they would be dead. Imagine my surprise when we got over there to see my father laid out on the ground with three big ass holes in his chest. I stood there with his body until my Uncle Jimmy came and got my ass up to carry me away from there. Uncle Jimmy would come down all the time from Jamaica until that day. After that, he would send for me to come over there every summer. He swore that he would never step foot in the states and hasn’t yet. They may not have been blood brothers because Uncle Jimmy is my mom’s brother, but blood wouldn’t make them any closer. They damn sure rocked with each other as if they were blood.

“Anyway, like I said, he would bring me over there and teach me the ropes about street shit. One day, we were riding around looking for some nigga who owed him money. When we found the dude, he started talking big man shit. Saying how he wasn’t going to pay my uncle shit. He told us the only way my uncle would get the money from him was to kill him. They were going back and forth and shit, and I got tired of it. I took my gun out and shot the nigga right in the middle of his forehead. Uncle Jimmy pulled off, leaving the dead nigga in the street.

“By the time I left Jamaica, I had twelve bodies under my belt. My uncle started calling the house for me and asking for Mr. Murder Man. One time, my boys heard it and started calling me that shit too. Eventually, they just started calling me Murder, even in school. The teachers and shit would hear them call me that and look at me all crazy. They never asked why I was being called that, but they damn sure looked nervous as fuck when they would hear that name,” Murder said and laughed.

“Do you know how many people you’ve killed?” Lawrynn asked.

“I hope your ass don’t get all scared and shit. If that’s what you’re gonna do, then we might as well end this fucking conversation right now. I’m not trying to have my girl scared of me,” Murder said.

He liked the fact that Lawrynn never acted scared of him or too scared to tell him what she had on her mind. She didn’t hold her tongue at all, and he loved that the most. The last thing he needed was a woman with no backbone.

“I don’t have a reason to be scared of you. I know you’re dangerous, but you only are when you need to be. If I don’t push you, then I get to live,” she said with a big smile.

Murder could only laugh at her.

“Why are you so damn goofy, man? You’re right, though. The only way I will kill you is if you try to go out here and cheat or if you wanna dance fuck some nigga on the dance floor. You can dance with anybody you want as long as I can walk through y’all without touching either one of y’all. All that twerking on a nigga’s dick will surely get you hemmed up,” he told her. Murder got pissed by how quiet she was. “I’m telling you straight up, if I run up on it, I’m snatching your ass up. So when it happens don’t do all that screaming and asking what am I doing. You know how y’all girls are. You always wanna do some shit then cry like y’all the ones hurt when ya man go off. Knowing damn well that we’re gonna go off anyway. I would hate to have to do it to you, so just make sure you don’t put yourself in that situation for me to show you first hand why they call me Murder,” he told her.

“I think I’m falling for you,” she told him softly.

“Oh yeah, that’s some good shit to hear. I already know I love you, though. Just know with all this falling and shit, I will still snatch you up,” he told her with a smirk.

  She laughed at him.

They talked until they went to sleep. Murder couldn’t believe that he loved being constantly caked up with Lawrynn. This feeling made all the bullshit with them getting together worth it.

  Chapter 16

“Can you tell me why you would even ask his ass to help you?” Pain asked Nikki.

They had been going back and forth for the last hour. He was slowly getting pissed at her to the point that he was going to have to leave if she kept this shit up.

“I really thought something was wrong with the car. I had been sitting there for almost an hour before he got there. Do you think I would just sit there like that if I could’ve just gone home?” she pleaded with him.

“You say you sat there for almost an hour?” he asked, knowing that she was lying her ass off, but, he couldn’t understand why she felt the need to lie to him. “So, you’re telling me that nobody came in or out of the store until Murder came up? The fucking store was open. You could’ve asked the damn cashier for help. As for you trying to call me, I was at my pop’s house. I had my phone on me, yet I don’t have one damn missed call from your lying ass. I don’t know what your fucking problem is or what you’re up to this time. Leave Law Baby and Murder alone. I would hate to have to fuck your pregnant ass up. LEAVE THEM THE FUCK ALONE, NIKKI,” he said, standing in her face.

  She rolled her eyes.

“You didn’t even ask me about the car. All you’re worried about is your precious Law Baby. The same bitch that chose your best friend over you. You were the one who told me to try to push upon Murder, now all of a sudden, it’s leave them alone. I can’t believe you’re gonna let that shit slide. It couldn’t be me,” she said.

“It couldn’t be you what? Huh, what would you do? I know what I said before, and I was just talking out the side of my neck then. Ain’t no need for either of us to be at them. If they wanna be happy together, let them do that. I’m the one who fucked up with her. Keep in mind that Law Baby and I were already broken up because of me fucking with you. YOU’RE HER FUCKING COUSIN. What the fuck you talking about? I swear you have to be mental. There’s something truly wrong with your ass. If I’m supposed to fight him, I might as well take your dumb ass with me so Lawrynn can fuck you up at the same time then, huh?”

Pain could feel it in his gut that Nikki was on some bullshit.

“You know what I mean,” she said.

“Nah, I fucking don’t know what you mean. You know when I first met Lawrynn’s brothers, they told me to watch out for you. After we started messing around, I thought that maybe we would be able to settle down. Now, I can see that nobody was hating on you. They were all telling the damn truth. You’re only attracted to men who are already married or in a relationship. If they’re with your cousins, then you do all you can to get with the guy. You’re pregnant with my kid and trying to get on Murder’s dick. I’m gonna tell you just like this. When you have the kid, I’m getting a blood test. Stay out of my way, and I’ll stay out of yours. You can keep trying Murder if you want to, but that nigga has no problem killing your ass. Choose wisely. All I can add is being that my kid is in you, I would prefer that you don’t try him until after you have the baby. You being pregnant is not gonna stop him from killing your dumb ass,” Pain told her and then he left the house.

Nikki stood in place just watching the door that Pain just went out of. She didn’t understand what the big deal was. She always got to sample her cousin’s boyfriends. She had been going behind Lawrynn and Nell’s back for years sleeping and with their men. She had to make them hurt some kind of way. They couldn’t just sit around and live happily ever after if she had to live with what happened to her that summer. She knew they had suspected that something happened, but to this day, she’s never told anyone what really happened.

She never liked to see her cousins all happy and lucky enough to have men who wanted them and not just their sex. She had learned that sex was what all men wanted. If you could give a man the right type of sex, then he would do any and everything for you. It didn’t matter if he had a girl, wife, kids, or anything else.

Nikki had gotten all types of shit from men over the years. She had one now that she didn’t even mess with anymore, but he was still paying her rent, and whenever her car broke down, he fixed it. All of that because he never wanted his wife or family to find out about the three year long affair they had.

Nikki felt that everybody was putting Murder on a pedestal like she couldn’t put him under her spell like the others. Yes, she had Pain, who was the father of her child, but she had always wanted Murder even before he got with Lawrynn. It was just that now he was a lust filled infatuation of hers. She HAD to have him. He could go along with it or not. She just had to come up with a plan.

Murder was chilling with the fellas at his carwash today. He needed a change of scenery from the barbershop. It was a sunny ass ninety-three degrees, so he knew the fellas would be rolling through to get their cars and motorcycles washed. It wasn’t even noon yet, and it was already crowded.

“Aye, there go ya boy, Pain. Do I need to start taking bets on who’s gonna win?” Murder’s home boy, Allen, asked him.

“If he come over here acting stupid, then you just might, nigga. It’s too fucking hot for the bullshit,” Murder said as they watched Pain walk over with determination in his steps.

“Murder, I gotta talk to you about some shit,” Murder said nothing as he looked at him. “Fuck it then. You need to watch out for Nikki. I don’t know what she’s up to, but I think she’s trying to get you to fuck around on Lawrynn with her,” Pain said.

Allen started laughing, which made both of them look at him.

“Y’all niggas are crazy as fuck. Of course, Nikki’s hoe ass is trying to get at him. He’s with Lawrynn now. That means she’s gonna do all she can to get him to fuck her,” Allen said.

“How the fuck do you know?” Pain asked.

Murder was quiet because they weren’t talking about Lawrynn directly, so he would just listen for now.

“That’s what she does. Just like that nigga Kirk on Love and Hip Hop, he likes to fuck other broads while he’s married. Nikki likes to fuck her cousin’s men. I don’t know what the hell they did to her when they were younger, but she always makes sure she pushes up on their men. Pain, your dumb ass need to be sure the bitch don’t run out and get a damn abortion now that you and Lawrynn ain’t together no more. I’m telling you, the bitch is crazy as fuck. I know firsthand because I used to fuck with Nell a few years back. Soon as Nikki found out, she started popping up everywhere I was. Making sure she was wearing the smallest shit she could without getting arrested for being naked in public. I told Nell about it because it was creepy as fuck. She told me that Nikki had tried to fuck her and Lawrynn’s men before. Nell stopped fucking with me a few weeks after that
out of nowhere. She just kept saying she didn’t want me to turn out like the others. So, she broke up with me because her hoe ass cousin was trying to get at me,” Allen said, shaking his head.

“You know how I am about people trying to hurt Law Baby,” Murder said, looking at Pain.

“I told her ass that if she kept trying you that you were gonna kill her. She’s on her own. As long as she’s alive, I’ll try to be there for her and shit like that but do what you gotta do. I know you’re not gonna hurt Law Baby like I did. It’s gonna take some time for me to come around and chill with y’all, though. I understand I’m in this situation because of me. We’re good,” Pain said to Murder.

They dapped each other up and half hugged.

“Ain’t this some Hood Hallmark shit. On some real shit, this is some grown man shit that y’all doing. I don’t know if I could do that shit, even if everything was my fault. I guess I ain’t that grown right now. I wanna get invited to the wedding, though,” Allen said. Just talking about Nell made him miss her. He hoped that Nikki would do what she does and keep pushing up on Murder, so he could kill her ass and he could go get his woman.

  Chapter 17

Pain never thought the day would come that he would be okay with Law Baby and Murder being together. He knew what he had done to her had changed her in a bad way. After the talk with his father, he decided that his father was right for the most part. He was going to take his father’s advice at least on the part about letting Law Baby be happy for once in her life. It was the part about him marrying or even being with Nikki that he wasn’t gonna be able to do, at least until he figured out what she was up to. He hadn’t even thought about a future with Nikki. What he did think about was the fact that Nikki hadn’t brought her friendly pussy ass home since he left yesterday.

He had sent her a text asking if she was okay, but she hadn’t answered him or even texted back a fuck you nigga. Instead of waiting for her to bring her dumb ass in the house, he went to the gym to burn off some of the frustration he was feeling. Nikki had life fucked up. If she wanted to be a hoe, then she would have to do that shit while she had another place to call home. Even if he didn’t fuck with her like that anymore, she would have to give him some kind of respect. The first thing on that list of respect was bringing her pregnant ass home at night. A close second was returning fucking text messages. There was no telling what she was out there doing while she was pregnant with his kid.
