Branwen sighed and slammed her math book shut, flipping onto her back, “what is the matter Little Raven?” Kodiak asked, having adopted the nickname that her family called her.

She opened one eye and looked up at him, “I’m bored, I’m sick of schoolwork, I want to feel the freedom of summer,” she griped.

Kodiak gave her a lazy smile, his dark hair, which was almost as dark as hers flopped down over his forehead. His dark chocolate eyes roamed over her face. He was incredibly handsome and in the last six months, it seemed that he had grown even more. Kodiak was tall like both her brothers, just not as broad as them, where they were broad shouldered and wide, Kodiak was tall and lanky. Kodiak moved closer to her and put his head beside hers, he took her hand and linked their fingers together.

“I am bored too,” Kodiak said looking over at her, “I am looking forward to summer, this will be my first one here, but winter in Northern Ireland is not as bad as winter in Russia.”

“Tell me about Russia?” she asked.

“It is a good country if you have money, but if you are poor, it is not so good. We lived in the forest, surrounded by trees. I spent much of my childhood running through the forest, here it is busy and crowded. I miss the forest. But I do not miss the cold. The wind in Russia, it is lazy, it blows straight through you,” he said with a small smile.

“Will you take me there one day?” Branwen asked looking over at Kodiak. He frowned and rolled to his stomach, looking down at her.

“You would want to come to visit Russia with me?” he asked seriously.

Branwen licked her lips and nodded her head, Kodiak gave a small smile, and continued to look down into her eyes. Branwen hadn’t been kissed before, but in that moment, she wanted nothing more than to be kissed by Kodiak. He seemed to be thinking the same thing as he slowly leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers. The kiss was sloppy and felt a little uncoordinated, neither knew what they were doing. Their teeth clashed, and their tongues tangled. None of the sloppy and awkwardness in the world, mattered now, as she kissed her best friend. Kodiak ran his hand up through her hair and rolled his body between her thighs. Branwen parted her legs and felt how hard he was as he ground down into her core, causing a small moan to escape her lips. Her moan’s spurred Kodiak on as he continued to grind against her. She lifted her legs and wrapped them around his hips.

Suddenly Kodiak was ripped from her body with a shout. Branwen opened her eyes to see Finnbarr standing with Kodiak by the collar of his shirt and his fist coiled ready to smack Kodiak in the face.

“Finnbarr, stop,” she shouted, standing and shoving between him and Kodiak.

“You don’t touch me sister like that,” Finnbarr growled, shoving Kodiak to the ground.

“Finnbarr Murphy, you fuckin’ stop it right now, you have no right to come out here and make demands about my body. I wanted Kodiak to kiss me, if I didn’t, he wouldn’t of, so just fuckin’ stop it,” she shouted.

“You’re too young to be kissin’” Finnbarr snarled at her.

Branwen raised her eyebrow and crossed her arms across her chest, “how old were you when you fuckin’ Saoirse? Or Aife? Or Siobhan, or half the fuckin’ female population of Northern Ireland?” she growled, poking Finnbarr in the chest, “Hmm? What age were you when you lost your virginity?”

  “That’s different, I’m a man,” Finnbarr answered.

“A man? Fuckin’ hell, did Northern Ireland lose women’s rights?” she spat.

“I don’t want you kissing or anything else,” Finnbarr said before turning to where Kodiak was standing with wide eyes, “you keep your fingers off me sister.”

Branwen growled and stomped her foot, “Finnbarr, no, you don’t get to do this. If I wanna get naked with Kodiak, or any other boy, I fucking well will.”

Finnbarr stepped forward, his face turning red with anger, she knew that she was poking a bear, but she didn’t care. He didn’t get to tell her who she had sex with. He didn’t get to decide that for her. It was her body and she was going to give it to who she wanted to, and she wanted to give it to Kodiak. Finnbarr took her chin in his fingers and tilted her head to look up into his eyes.

“I love you Little Raven, I don’t wanna see you get hurt,” he said, his eyes softening under his vulnerability.

“I love you too Finnbarr, but you should know by now, that Kodiak isn’t going to hurt me.”

“Which is why I didn’t kill him,” Finnbarr said with a smirk.

Branwen rolled her eyes and shook her head, “you’re a caveman,” she sighed.

“I can’t help it, you bring it out of me,” he said leaning forward and kissing her on the forehead, “now behave, if it had been Karney that caught ye, you both woulda been in a world of trouble.”

Branwen sighed again and slumped against Finnbarr’s chest. She knew that was the truth, Karney was even more protective and worse than Finnbarr. He was a complete Neanderthal. Finnbarr let her go and reached out a hand to Kodiak, taking Kodiak’s hand in his.

“You look after her, and if you dare hurt her, I’m comin’ after you,” Finnbarr said, narrowing his eyes.

Kodiak nodded rapidly and shook Finnbarr’s hand. “She has my heart,” Kodiak said touching his chest with his free hand.

“Good, just be gentle with hers,” Finnbarr replied before turning and stalking away towards the house. Branwen let out a breath she had been holding. That could have been so much worse.

  Chapter Six

  6 months later.

Since the day that Kodiak and Branwen were caught by Finnbarr they had been inseparable. They were always by each other’s side. She couldn’t imagine life without him.

“Happy Birthday,” Kodiak said with a small smile.

Branwen giggled when she looked up to see Kodiak standing in the doorway of her room. He came in and sat on her bed beside her, before handing her a small gift-wrapped box. When Branwen opened the gift, her eyes widened at the beautiful necklace that sat inside. The pendant was a small infinity symbol on a gold chain, on either loop was a small diamond. Kodiak reached into the box and undid the clasp on the necklace, reaching out to place it around her neck.

“The infinity symbol means I will love you forever and the two diamonds are you and I,” he explained.

Branwen looked down at the pendant, tears prickling at her eyes. “I love it, thank you,” she said, before turning and taking his lips with hers.

They hadn’t done more than kiss, but Branwen had plans. It was her sixteenth birthday, and she wanted to tell Kodiak she was ready to take their relationship to the next level. Branwen wanted to have sex with Kodiak. By all accounts from what her mam had told her, she wasn’t a virgin in the physical sense, but she had never willingly given her body to anyone, and she wanted Kodiak to be the first. Before she had an opportunity to tell him her desires, loud footsteps rang through the hallway, signaling that her brothers were heading her way.

“Happy birthday Little Raven,” they both chorused together.

Raven giggled at their enthusiasm. Finnbarr leaped on the bed, causing her body to bounce slightly, while Karney slid in beside her on the other side, giving her a kiss on the cheek. His kiss lingered slightly and Branwen closed her eyes, soaking in the feelings that surrounded it. Ever since she started to see boys for more than just beings to wrestle with, it had been Kodiak, Karney and Finnbarr that her eyes were drawn to. She knew it was wrong to think about her brothers that way. Technically they weren’t her real brothers, it wasn’t like they shared blood, but she still knew it wasn’t right. Opening her eyes, she saw Kodiak watching her with a frown on his face, while Finnbarr’s eyes twinkled with mischief and delight.

Branwen sighed and shifted, so that she was closer to Kodiak, putting a little bit of distance between her and Karney. Kodiak’s body was stiff against hers, but once Finnbarr started rambling about all the things they had planned for her, he soon relaxed and he put his arm around her shoulder, pulling her tight against his chest.
/>
When her brother’s finally left the room, both leaving her with kisses on the forehead, Karney’s eyes lingering longer than what she thought normal. However, Branwen couldn’t tell if she was imagining the stare or whether it was really happening. She turned to Kodiak who was still sitting curled up on her bed.

“Kodiak, I wanted to ask you something,” she said.

Kodiak looked up at her with a small frown creasing his brow, “you can ask me anything Little Raven,” he said.

“I want you to make love to me,” she whispered.

Kodiak’s eyes widened, before he nodded his head rapidly. “I have not had sex with anyone, I worry that I will be no good,” he confessed, his cheeks pinkening as he looked down at his lap.

Branwen bumped her shoulder into his, “I’ve not had sex with anyone either, well none that I can remember, and then Da and Uncle Dyfed aren’t sure that someone raped me,” she said.

Kodiak hissed and winced, “I do not wish to talk about that time, it hurts my heart to think that anyone could hurt you, and if those people were not already dead, I would kill them myself.”

Branwen smiled at his protectiveness. Maybe it made her sick, but she liked that Kodiak and her brothers were prepared to kill for her. “So, will you make love to me?” she asked again.

Kodiak nodded his head, before he leaned forward and kissed her lips ravenously. She had felt Kodiak hard under his pants, and he had, had his hands on her breasts but they had never taken it further than that. Now though, it felt right, it felt like the right time. Gently Kodiak laid her back on the bed, continuing to kiss her senseless. His hands roaming up and down her body. Branwen moaned quietly as he ground himself against her core.

Slowly Kodiak began to strip Branwen’s clothes from her body. His hands were trembling and his eyes wide as he took in her nakedness spread out on the bed for him. He kissed over her neck and down over her breasts, taking each nipple in his mouth as he went. Branwen reached out and took Kodiak’s shirt in her hands, lifting it from his body. Before long he was just as naked as she was. It was her first time seeing him completely naked, and to say that he was one of the most beautiful boys she had ever seen would be an understatement. The only other boys that could give him a run for his money was Karney and Finnbarr.

Branwen shook her head, to toss aside the thoughts of her brothers, as she reached out a trembling hand, circling Kodiak’s length. He hissed out a breath as his eyelids drooped. Branwen alternated looking between her hand moving up and down Kodiaks hardened cock and his face. She couldn’t decide what she wanted to watch more. It wasn’t long before Kodiak stilled her hand and opened his eyes.

“If you keep going, I will cum,” he whispered.

Branwen smiled, before leaning over to her dresser draw to pull out one of the condoms, she had stolen from Karney’s wallet the night before when he was watching television. She figured he wouldn’t miss one. Branwen handed the condom to Kodiak with a look of embarrassment.

“I don’t know how to put it on,” she confessed.

Kodiak smiled and opened the foil wrapper, and slid the rubber down over his length, before he gently guided himself inside her. There was a small pinch of pain, but nothing that she couldn’t handle. She watched Kodiak’s face, and the look of concentration he wore as he filled her up. Kodiak opened his eyes and looked down at Branwen.

“I love you Little Raven,” he said, his voice husky with need.

“I love you too,” she whispered as he started to roll his hips, to move in and out of her.

It didn’t take long before Branwen was crying out Kodiak’s name as pleasure like she had never experienced washed over her entire body. She felt like every nerve ending was singing and her heart rate was about to pound out of her chest. Kodiak thrust another few times, before he was crying out her name and stiffening his whole body, breathing hard.

Kodiak opened his eyes and looked down at her, giving her an award-winning smile, it was a smile like he just won the lottery. Branwen giggled as Kodiak leaned down and kissed her gently on the lips, cheeks and neck.

  “Kodiak?” she said.

He looked down at her and she smiled, “I want to do that again, very soon,” she confessed.

Kodiak laughed and nodded his head, “I really want to do that again, however, I do not want your brothers to kill me, so we best not stay in here too long. They will come looking for you soon.”

Branwen laughed, she wondered what they would honestly do if they knew that she and Kodiak had just had sex. Would they be angry? They knew that it was going to happen one day.

  Chapter Seven

When Branwen and Kodiak came downstairs after making themselves somewhat presentable, everyone was standing around her mam in the kitchen. When Mam looked up, her eyes were sad and she forced a smile, before standing and walking towards Branwen.

“Happy birthday my Little Raven,” she said, however, her voice sounded strained.

Branwen smiled at her mam and kissed her cheek before frowning and looking around, noticing the somber faces of all that were in the room.

“What’s goin’ on?” Branwen asked, her frown deepening on her face.

Mam cleared her throat, before taking Branwen’s hand and sighing. “I’m sorry Branwen, I didn’t want to ruin your birthday with this, the doctor just rang, I’m sick.”

Branwen’s heart started to speed up and she took in the look on her mam’s face. “What do you mean sick? Like the flu or somethin’?” she asked, hopeful, but underneath she knew that this was more than just a bug.

Mam shook her head and squeezed Branwen’s hand, “no dear, I’ve got cancer.”

The breath was punched out of Branwen’s lungs and tears prickled at her eyes, “but you can fight it right? Have an operation to take it away?”

Mam shook her head again, “I’m afraid not, Little Raven, it’s too far gone, it’s in my brain, the best they can do is make me comfortable until I pass.”

Branwen shook her head rapidly, that wasn’t good enough. Her mam couldn’t die, there was something the doctors had to be able to do. “What about the medicine they give, chemotherapy? Mam you have to fight,” she cried, the tears finally breaking through the dam she had built up.

“Little Raven, I’m sorry,” her mam said, with her own tears streaming down her cheeks.

“No, Mam, you gotta fight it, please, Mam,” Branwen sobbed, before turning and running from the kitchen. She had to break free, she had to get away, the room was stifling, and she felt like her entire body was on fire and itching.

Branwen ran, she heard shouts of her name behind her, but she didn’t look back, as she fled from the house and down the long dirt driveway of their family home. A home that their mam had made so loving. She couldn’t lose her mam, not now, not until she was old. Mam was only forty years old; she was too young to die. Tears blurred Branwen’s vision as she continued to run, out of the gate and into the fields with their sparse trees that surrounded their property.

She continued to run, aimless in her direction, just needing to outrun the pain that had taken residence in her heart. Branwen had never experienced loss before. She didn’t remember her biological parents, and from what everyone had told her about how they treated her, she didn’t give a shit that they were dead. But her mam, her mam had done nothing but love Branwen and shown her affection. The potential of losing her mam was crushing her. It felt like her heart was in a vice and she couldn’t get enough air in her lungs to help ease the pain.

Suddenly two arms engulfed her and lifted her feet from the ground. From the scent of sandalwood, she knew the arms belonged to Karney. “Let me go,” Branwen cried between clenched teeth.

“I’ll never let you go, Little Raven, I love you too much to let you go,” he growled into her ear.

Branwen stopped struggling and slumped into Karney’s arms, sobs falling from her lips. Karney turned her around and pulled her into his chest, holding her tight, allowing her to cry every tear. Fin
ally, when her sobs eased to hiccups and her tears started to dry, Karney pulled her back and looked down into her face. He ran his thumbs under her red and puffy eyes, wiping the stray tears from her cheeks.

“Beautiful Little Raven,” he whispered, “so fucking tempting.”

Branwen frowned, “what do you mean?” she asked.

Karney shook his head, before leaning forward and kissing her on the forehead. “We will get through this Little Raven, but Mam, she’s scared, we need to be strong for her.”

Branwen sucked in a shuddering breath and nodded her head. The pain had consumed her, but she couldn’t even begin to imagine what it would be like for her mam to face death. Branwen tried to imagine it, but it was like the thought was just too terrifying and her brain couldn’t conjure it. She nodded her head and slumped against Karney’s chest again, allowing his scent to envelope her and bring her comfort.

“Karney?” she said, Karney looked down at her, “I don’t want anything special today, I want this to be a day about Mam.”

Karney gave a small frown but nodded his head, “of course sweet girl, we can do that.”

Karney took her hand in his and started to lead her back towards the house. As they walked in silence, she noticed Karney watching her from the corner of her eye. She didn’t know what was going on with him, he had been strange all morning and then his comments about her being tempting. Did that mean he was struggling with feelings towards her? The same sort of feelings she had towards him. She knew they couldn’t act on it, not only because they were family, well technically not blood related, but still everyone that knew them, knew they had grown up as siblings, but also because of Kodiak. She would never cheat on Kodiak. She loved him.
