“Malcolm, you don’t need to say anything more. You have proven yourself ten times over with me.”

“When I was six, I saw my biological father hit my mom and knock her into the wall. I ran at him kicking his only for him to kick me in my ribs and throw me half way across the room. My mom ran over to me and threw her body over mine and took his kicks that were meant for me. In the middle of the night she woke me and we ran. We came here and the next day I met Garrison. It wasn’t until I turned fourteen that he really showed his face while I was at school. Football practice ended early and I came home. Only to hear my mom scream, I walked in and saw the bastard on top of her with a knife to her throat; her clothes had been ripped off. I went to Garrisons safe, took out a gun and went back and planted a round into his head. I called 911 on myself. My dad told me a man always does what is right regardless of the consequences. I was sentenced to seven years in prison.”

  “Oh Malcolm.” She had said.

She then crawled over to him and wrapped her arms around his shoulders and hugged him.

The next day Lilly took her to the store per Malcolm’s orders since he had to make a run to another for his club to help out a fellow chapter.

They went to good old Wal-Mart. Lilly had told her not to ask why or to question any of it or else. She was told to get whatever she needed. She didn’t however Lilly, Garrison, and Malcolm only knew how much Albert had in his bank account and let’s just say that Malcolm would never want for money ever again.

She felt so out of place spending someone else’s money. She tentatively climbed from the car. She remembered the words Lilly had said to her and she didn’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings by not accepting the help.

She threw on her big girl panties and tried to enjoy the experience. Following Lilly after she had grabbed a cart, they headed straight to the juniors section.

In went leggings, flannels, long sleeve shirts. Also; few jackets and some jeans and a few skirts. Along with shorts and even a few camisoles and then they went to the men’s department. They got her some t-shirts and even some comfortable pajama bottoms. It was also there that she saw a shirt that read, ‘Knights do it better’ in big white bold letters on a red shirt. She grabbed an extra-large for Malcolm hoping it would fit. She grabbed a pair of sneakers, a pair of sandals and even a pair of flip flop.

Then they headed to the feminine department. Bras and underwear and socks piled into the cart. She had thrown in a few things but once Lilly found out her size she had gone kind of crazy. The odd thing was that she actually liked all of what she had picked out and definitely planned on wearing it. Then they went to through the feminine hygiene aisles. She grabbed tampons incase, along with razors, lotion, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Oh she had tried to argue with Lilly and that ended up with kids 3 in 1 in the cart so she hushed up. Back onto the shelf that went.

After they had gotten back Malcolm had finally been back and came outside, he came to her door to open it and helped her out. He went to the back of the car and got her bags out for her.

Taking a shower then she dressed in a pair of shorts and a long sleeved shirt. Once she was through Lilly came into the bathroom and trimmed her hair. She went to her room and began putting things away she saw a set of make-up brushes, some face crap and some… make-up. What the crap. She didn’t know that Lilly had her head peeked in keeping an eye on her, and when Paisley sat down on her bed holding the make-up she had looked so sad that Lilly couldn’t help it.

“Why are you upset honey?” She asked as she stepped closer to her.

She didn’t know what to say. She felt ashamed that she was eighteen years old and had no idea how to apply the stuff or even what went where.

  “I… don’t… I mean to say… how do you?”

“Paisley, no more feeling sad. Come with me.” She grabbed the stuff and waited until Paisley grabbed her crutches then she took her to her room and to her glam table she called it.

She spent a few hours showing Paisley how to apply certain things to which areas to make it look more natural but vibrant. She told her she could use eyeshadow as eyeliner sometimes. She continued until she could see that Paisley had lost her fear.

The next morning she woke up. Got dressed in some shorts and another long sleeve shirt and put on some make-up. Today after school she had an appointment to get a cast put on her ankle.

After Malcolm drove to the school, he helped her out of his truck and said he would stay here just in case. She hobbled inside with her crutches and went to the office. Upon seeing her they directed her to the guidance counselors office and she told her my decision that she would be attending UNC since it was extremely close to here. She said since my grades were high enough and she had passed all of her exams she needed to be back to the school Saturday for graduation. She also said that because of my grades she had made Valedictorian.

You see last night after Lilly showed her how to do her make-up her and Malcolm went outside. She told him about the schools and he helped her make a decision.

Since she didn’t have school they went to his new house and he showed her his shop. Later that afternoon she went and got a crimson colored cast. The next few days they took her to the clubhouse where she met a lot of the other members. She didn’t know it yet but those hard; rough around the edges men were nothing but big soft teddy bears once you made it into their fold.

That Saturday she stood proudly on the stage, her deep green robe and tassel and yellow sash she said her Valedictorian speech. In the very last couple of rows there stood all of the members of the Spartans MC along with Lilly. They had all eyes turned to them as they had clapped and congratulated her very loudly. It was perfect.

  Chapter 6

The next few months flew by.

After she had finally gotten the cast off she rode on the back of Malcolm’s bike whenever possible. She felt so free it was magical.

During the day she attended classes and he made sure she understood he was always just a phone call away. He worked on getting the shop ready to be opened in a month. Thanks to Albert knowing what worked and didn’t work and having equipment that was actually up to date helped a lot.

During the nights after one of the brothers picked her up from school she would come to my house and help me get it to how he wanted it. Whether, that was helping me paint which she left some clothes over here or helping me go through the various rooms that had a lot of stuff in them.

She worked on her homework if I was working on the porch or she worked on it when I was laying new flooring down in the upstairs.

Since she had started college she quit her job in the library so she could focus on her studies and have the time she needed.

“Paisley, can you do me a favor?” I took a chance on trying to help her.

“Hang on one second.” She finished writing something then said, “Sure, what’s up?” She laid her school book down.

“Wear a short sleeved shirt tomorrow for me. It’ll just be me and you. I need your help going through the garage and it’s going to be super-hot out there. Please?”

She didn’t answer but the next morning when I went to pick her up from my parents’ house she came out in her flannel; however, as soon as she climbed in the truck she took a deep breath and took the flannel off.

Then she buckled her seat belt and hugged herself. I glanced and saw a scar on her left arm, well it was really the flesh was messed up from her lower upper arm all the way down to her elbow and then continued to some of her forearm. Her right arm on her lower forearm had a little bit of messed up skin but it was nowhere near the severity of the left arm.

Carefully he reached for her arm and was glad when she released it; I then laid my hand over her arm,

“Paisley, I’m going to say something to you and I want you to hear every word I’m sayin’. You may think with these scars on your body that you’re ugly and that you’re ashamed but darlin’. These marks are nothing but your warrior marks and your tiger
strips. Look at you darlin’ you fucking made it. You survived. Don’t you ever be ashamed of where you came from because it made you who you are. And let me tell you something. You have the kindest heart of anyone I have ever met. You’re the strongest of women I have ever met. You took that I had been to prison and you trusted the man met and the man you knew. Any time you look in the mirror I want you to say, ‘I’m beautiful, I’m one of a kind’ no matter what.”

With that being said I pulled out and we headed to the house to go through the million boxes in the garage. I had expected a lot of older things however what I had not expected what came next.

Saying she need to use the restroom, he hadn’t of been watching out for her. He then got soaked in water. He turned around as fast as he could and in her hand held a super soaker water gun. He pumped it back as he said,

“You better now!” Well she had. She squeezed the trigger and blasted him in his face.

He shouldered the water then ran after her and began tickling her. She was screaming in mercy before he was done with her.

The day the shop opened had been a huge affair in their town. Since there wasn’t a local mechanic shop people had to drive out of town. So many people showed up on that Saturday and appointments were made and bookings were set for the rest of the month and onto the next month.

Three months after that he was shocked. He had run into Harper and Paisley at the mall and she had on, you guessed it, a short sleeved shirt. Why was he at the mall on a Sunday? Well he knew she was there and she had a date last night. He told himself he wouldn’t interfere. He just wanted to make sure she was okay. This had been the first date she had ever been on. Oh she had been out to eat with him and his family and even a few of the brothers after school but this was different.

  “Darlin’.” He said.

She looked up surprised and smiled her mega-watt smile that was reserved for him. He had seen her smile with others but he was the only one on the receiving end of said smile. And let me tell you!

“Malcolm, what are you doing here?” She was laughing at him.

Very rare did you see an MC Kutte in a mall.

“Mom said she needed me to grab her somethin’.” However…

“No I didn’t Malcolm Garrison, and you full well know it.” He wasn’t expecting that. Here came the woman in question.

“Mom, yes you did from that one store up there on the right.” He gave her a look and pleaded with her. Her eyes lightened and then she knew.

“Oh yes! I’m so glad you didn’t forget like you did last time. Come on ladies.”

The girls followed and then Paisley turned her head and smiled at him. Her mega-watt smile. He wasn’t sure how much longer he could continue just being her guardian.

The rest of the week went the same until Friday night. He had been at work and then came to his parent’s house for dinner night after he had gone home and took a shower.

Walking in the door he could here Paisley apologizing to someone and her voice waivered. I charged through the house bypassing my dad when he tried to grab ahold of me.

He had turned my frame to fit through her door and when Paisley looked up, shocked, he had to quell his temper. When he says quell he means fucking quell. There on her beautiful face was a deep dark red mark. Surly to turn into a bruise.

“Someone needs to tell me what the fuck happened.” He said in a menacing tone.

“Now, Malcolm, she needs you right now. Don’t you forget that!” He’s mom had told him.

“Darlin’.” He said as we walked to her and went down to one knee in front of her small frame. Her beautiful face.

She sniffed, “He got mad at school today when I told him I couldn’t go out tonight because it was family night. He didn’t like that and got mad that I didn’t invite him over. To tell you the truth I had been trying to find a way to tell him I didn’t want to see him any longer. Anyway, I had walked away and went to the parking lot and got on Stone’s bike because he was my ride for the day. We didn’t notice but Ricky must have been following us the whole way. He waited until Stone took off and then came up to me and grabbed me from behind.”

“He spun me around and called me all kinds of names and then said he figured I would’ve been like my mother… ready to spread my legs for anything. I spit in his face because he had his hands on my arms. That was when he did this. He would have done more if Stone hadn’t of come back when he did. He grabbed him and threw him in the air and punched his face quite a few times. I begged him not to tell you, I knew you were busy today with that bike.” She was sniffling.

No fucking way was I holding back any more.

“Darlin’.” I said as I ran my fingers over her bruise.

Not giving a shit any more.

He wrapped my arms around her, lifted her up and carried her outside to the hammock in the backyard. He made sure to grab a blanket first. Laying her down then he climbed in with her and wrapped her in his arms and covered them up.

“Darlin’ I swore I would always protect you. I don’t give a shit what I’m doing or how important it is. Nothing and I mean fucking nothing is more important to me then you. Second of all I don’t give a fuck if you don’t want me back or not but your mine now so get the fuck over it.”

“Malcolm…” She had started to say.

“No, I ain’t finished yet. Tomorrow and I mean fucking tomorrow you are moving in with me. The whole house was designed because it was what you liked and ain’t no way am I living in that place without you another minute longer. Deal with it, process it. Since you don’t have school this week you are getting your license and I’m getting you a car. Don’t you dare try to talk me out of it because my mind is already made up.”

“Ok Malcolm.” She said and he felt her smile that was reserved for him against his chest.

They could hear the crickets out in the way and the soft sound of someone, i.e. Paisley snoring lulled Malcolm to sleep. His six foot five frame and her five foot one frame curled together in a hammock under the stars.

“We did good love. That we did.” Garrison said as they quietly closed the door back and headed to their own room for their private night beneath the stars.

  Chapter 7

Packing her things up the very next weekend had been bitter sweet however she was so excited. She loved Malcolm dearly and was relieved to see he obviously cared for her as well. See Malcolm wanted her to move in that following morning however Lilly told him that they had to wait because Paisley had come to her and asked her a favor. She never told Malcolm what that favor was however he soon found out when she had moved in.

On the way to the house his mom had followed them and Paisley went and took the driving test and passed with flying colors. That week before she had taken driving lessons with Lilly, Garrison, and Malcolm and was doing pretty well.

The house was still white however it now had crimson shutters, and a crimson front door. The newest additions that had been made was a claw foot bath tub in the master, new flooring, new appliances, different colors on the walls and new counter tops. Plus in the living room Malcolm had built a huge book case for her.

Malcolm hadn’t told her but he had already gone and bought her a new car. It was a GMC Acadia and crimson in color, not to big but not too small and it was one of the highest rated safety vehicles out there. The look on her face had been priceless to say the least when they pulled into the driveway she went running to it staring at Malcolm.

“Malcolm! No you didn’t.” She screamed and flashed her mega-watt smile.

She then ran to him and jumped in his arms and he spun her about. Offering her the smile that he has just for her.

That night she had made dinner, she only burnt the bread and a few of the green beans were scorched.

The next night she attempted to make mac n cheese. She forgot she had even begun it at all and when she went to check all of the water had already boiled out of it. They ordered Chinese instead.

  He didn’t mind though,
the fact she asked him mother to teach her a few things made him happy all the same. She was willing to put in the work and so would he.

The one thing she could make really well was an omelet, pancakes, anything breakfast she could nail it. Over the next few weeks she learned how to make other things and she stayed in the kitchen when she had something on the stove that would need to boil to cook it.

“Harper, I don’t want him to reject me. I have something inside me that heats up every time he is near. What do I do?” She asked her best friend on the way home from class.

“You need to talk to him and tell him how you feel. Don’t be scared. I imagine a man like your Mac knows what he’s doing. Trust him. Yes it will hurt the first time when it finally happens but after that its pleasure.” Harper knew, she wouldn’t tell me how she knew but it was the one secret she had kept from her. She didn’t even know she wasn’t a virgin anymore until the day in the mall.

Getting home she was shocked that Malcolm was already home. Usually he was at the shop until six or seven at night, not at three in the afternoon.

Climbing out, she grabbed her book bag and headed to the house. There was a note on the front door. ‘Follow the petals’. Okay she thought. She had a grin on her face, opening the door she saw the petals went to the stairs. Okay, she placed her book bag on the kitchen counter.

She followed the petals up the stairs. Reaching the balcony she continued on to their room. Through their room and to the bathroom. She had seen there had been petals on the bed. Wait! She thought. Could it be.

Going to the bathroom she saw candles lit, their claw foot bath tub was piled high with bubbles. She walked over to it, there was another note ‘Enjoy your me time, relax my love’. Well then, there was also a bottle of wine and a glass. The room smelled of vanilla, one of her favorite smells.

Smiling she took off her jeans and t-shirt followed by her boots. She piled her hair high atop her head. Reached down and poured a glass, then she carefully climbed in the tub and sank down. She sighed in contentment. The water was just right. Looking around she saw a white bathrobe on the back of the door with another note. She couldn’t wait, but first she was going to enjoy this.
