“If I told you I can’t discuss my father’s business would you respect that?”

  “Do I have a choice?”

“We all have choices.” He released my hand. “I thought you understood my father’s dealings were off-limits. You know who we are. I didn’t think I had to explain it.”

“Can you tell me one thing?” It was the only thing I cared about.

“Depends on what it is.” When he sighed, I sensed his frustration.

“Is there a possibility that something bad will happen to you today?”

“Not at all.” He took my hand again, softening his tone. “Do you think I’d take any risks now that I’ve found you?”

I hope not... with all my heart.

  GIANNI

“I had the best night.” As Angelique twirled around my family room, her carefree attitude made me smile. “Your family is everything I’ve ever wanted.”

“They’re quite taken with you too.” Almost as much as I am.

I leaned against the couch, watching as she lost her balance when she took off her boots.

“Whoa.” I caught her by the arm. “I think Sal gave you too much wine.”

“No, I was there for hours. I paced myself.” She draped her arms over my shoulders. “I’m not sore anymore.”

“You’re probably numb from all that wine.”

“I’m not drunk.” She kissed me slow, swirling her tongue inside my mouth until my cock stirred in my pants. “I’m tipsy but I’m very aware of my surroundings.” She swept her hand over my erection. “Do you want me to recite the alphabet or something?”

“Oh, I want you to do something.”

“Something like this?” She dropped to her knees and reached for my belt.

“What are you doing?” I gazed down at her, too aroused to make her stop.

“Guess.” She giggled as she unbuckled my belt and undid the button. “Do you need another hint?” She lowered my zipper and tugged on my pants. “Have you figured it out yet?” Her warm breathed danced along my flesh.

“I know what you’re doing.” I twisted my fingers in her hair when she pushed my boxers down around my ankles. “I just meant we don’t have to do this.”

“I’ve wanted to do this for a while.”

  “Ah...”

She wasted no time taking me into her hot, wet mouth. She grasped the base of my cock in her hand, pumping in time with her deep, throaty thrusts. When she placed her palm on my thigh for support, I pushed my hips into her face, moving in tandem with her. She slid my shaft into her mouth, I pulled back out, savoring the heat of her tongue. I pushed in, coating my cock in her saliva and she pulled me back out of her mouth. Over and over until the anticipation building inside me shot straight to my balls.

Tightening my grasp in her hair, I lowered my hand to her chin. “You never cease to amaze me.” My voice was low and breathless. “Oh...”

“Hmm...” she hummed around me as she squeezed her legs shut.

“Angelique...” I moaned. “I want to get inside you.”

She released me from her mouth and gazed up at me. “I don’t mind finishing.”

“We’re going to finish.” I helped her up before unbuttoning her jeans and sliding them down her legs. “Over here.” I guided her to the couch. “Turn around.”

She graced me with a curious glance but obliged my request. Getting on her knees, she held onto the back of the sofa. I moved in behind her, sliding her thong to the side as I pushed my finger into her tight, slick core.

She jumped at the contact but once she settled in, she made the sexiest noises. “That feels good.”

  “You’re so wet.”

“Having you in my mouth had an arousing effect on me.”

  “You dirty girl.”

“Gianni!” She screamed when I entered her. “Oh...”

“As much as I enjoyed your mouth, I wanted this more.” I slammed my hips forward. “I want you to come like this.”

“Yes...” She arched her back and met me thrust for thrust. “Harder.”

“I’ve created a sex demon.” Gripping her hips, I plunged deeper, increasing my pace with each pass. “You’re so tight.”

“A perfect fit for you,” she moaned. “Only you.”

“Angel...” My muscles tensed as my climax rapidly approached. Sliding my hand across her belly and between her legs, I ran my finger along her clit. “I want you to come with me.”

“Hmm...” She breathed out as she placed her hand over mine, guiding me, controlling the pace. “Like that.”

“Anything you want.” I’d give her everything. “I...”

As she clenched around me, I spiraled out of control. Our collective moans, turned into rapid pants until we both exploded in a simultaneous bliss. I held her close, not wanting to release her from my hold. When she slumped forward onto the back of the couch, I trailed my lips along her spine.

“I’m really curious.” I continued to kiss her soft, heated flesh. “Where does a virgin learn to use her mouth like that?”

  “Ha!”

“Not that I’m complaining.” I slipped out of her. “I’ll be dreaming about that for a very long time.”

She wiggled around to face me. “I told you, I’ve been reading Cosmo for years. It’s very informative.” She winked. “I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

I pushed her down on the cushions, laying my head on her stomach, nestling between her legs. Her fingers in my hair created a calming sensation. If I closed my eyes, I’d probably fall asleep.

“Thank you for the clothes,” she said after a few minutes. “They’re so beautiful.”

“I’m glad you like them.” I kissed her hipbone. “Take whatever you want home with you. I can have Kendal send more items here for you.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“What’s your favorite thing she picked out for you?” I ignored her statement because, let’s face it, I did what I wanted. Making her happy was my new mission in life.

  “The shoes.”

“Manolo Blahnik.” Those were Kendal’s signature shoes. “They are spectacular.”

“They’re wonderful but I don’t think I should keep them.”

“Why?” I’d never heard of a woman who would turn down those shoes. “I want you to have them.”

“I looked them up today. Do you know how much they cost?”

“No.” I didn’t really care. “If you like them, it doesn’t matter.”

  “Gianni, they’re a thousand dollars.”

“Five hundred a foot.” I shrugged. “That’s not bad.”

  “You’re crazy.”

“I am crazy.” I slithered up her body and gazed into her eyes. “Crazy for you.”

  “The shoes are gorgeous.”

“I’m glad you like them.” I crushed my lips to hers, kissing her, indulging in the idea that she was mine. “Because Kendal has a no return policy. I’m stuck with the shoes.”

“Well, in that case.” She ran her hand up and down my back. “I guess I’m keeping them.”

  “I’m keeping you.”

  “Wow!”

  “What?”

“My oral skills were really that good?” She ran her fingers through my hair. “Who knew?”

“Now that I know, I may never leave you alone.” I kissed her neck as I trailed my hand between her legs. “Are you up for more?”

“I’m up for anything as long as it’s with you.”

“This is only the beginning, my love.”

When she gazed into my eyes, I noticed the surprise in hers. That’s right, Angel... I’m not afraid of that word.

  Chapter Thirteen

  ANGELIQUE

  My Life Is Yours

The Saturday after Thanksgiving, we all went to the winery to celebrate Vincenzo and Nadia’s engagement. This had to be the most elaborate party I’d ever attended. If this was the engagement celebration, I couldn’t wait to attend the actual wedding.

  The winery
was transformed into a gorgeous holiday spectacular. Thousands of twinkling white lights, towering evergreen trees, and beautiful sparkling wreaths and decorations filled every space of the already beautiful restaurant.

The wine and champagne flowed all evening. People danced, ate, and drank as they celebrated the ecstatic couple. Nadia looked like royalty, and Vincenzo played the part of her perfect prince. Jennie and Dante worked the room, making all of their guests feel special and appreciated. My father seemed to be having a good time using the opportunity to score votes.

“There you are.” Gianni came up from behind me and kissed my neck. “I lost you.”

“Your mother wanted to introduce me to more cousins.” I turned and kissed his cheek. “How many cousins do you have?”

  “A lot.”

“I can’t keep them all straight.”

  “Would you like to dance?”

  “I thought you’d never ask.”

He took my hand and led me to the dance floor. The band played a dreamy melody as he twirled me around in a circle. Holding me close to him, he set his hand on the small of my back. “You’re the most beautiful woman here tonight. I keep asking myself how I got this lucky.”

“I’m the lucky one.” I rested my head on his shoulder. “You’re awfully sexy in that tux.”

All the Marchelli brothers looked rather dashing this evening. They were the buzz of the party. I noticed how many women had made it their business to find a reason to approach Santino, Dominick, and Sal. A few tried to get Gianni’s attention but he prominently introduced me as his girlfriend to every one of them.

“Nadia and Vincenzo are an impressive couple,” I said. “They’re so beautiful. You can feel their love. It’s so romantic.”

“Nadia is a beautiful person inside and out.” He kissed my temple. “Vincenzo couldn’t have found a more perfect bride.”

“I love how you’re all so happy for them. You can almost touch the admiration and joy in this room. It’s surreal.”

“We celebrate one another.” He spun me around again. “We’ve always been there for each other. It’s what we do.”

“I’m blessed to be a part of it.”

“I’m blessed to have found you.” He pressed his lips to mine, kissing me, igniting a blazing passion inside my soul. “Watching Vincenzo and Nadia has made me realize something.”

  “What’s that?”

“You’re right about feeling their love.” He stopped moving to the music and when he stared into my eyes, everything in the room faded into the background. I no longer heard the band or the chatter of the other guests. It was as if it was only the two of us. “When Vincenzo looks at Nadia, I know exactly how he feels.”

“You’re very in tune to your brothers.”

  “It’s more than that.”

  “What do you mean?”

“I know how he feels because I’m experiencing the same thing when it comes to you.”

“You are?” My stomach fluttered when I realized what he was saying.

“You were an unexpected surprise when you came into my life.” He kissed the corner of my mouth. “When I’m with you everything seems right.”

  “I know what you mean.”

  “I love you.”

“You do?” I did a fist bump inside my head. “You, I mean...” I took a deep breath because now was not the time to be awkward. “I love you too.”

“I really hoped you would say that.”

He dropped his gaze to my lips, taking his time to bring his mouth to mine but when he did, my whole world rejoiced. Gianni Marchelli loved me! Way to go! The kiss went on a little longer than we anticipated. We both had forgotten we weren’t alone. Too caught up in the moment. It was the spontaneous applauding led by Sal that brought us back to reality.

“Aren’t they the perfect couple?” Sal asked.

“Sal?” Gianni shook his head. “Seriously?”

I wiped my lipstick from Gianni’s lips.

“What?” Sal put his hands in the air. “I’m making a prediction.”

  “What’s that?” Gianni sighed.

“You and this stunning woman are going to follow in Vincenzo and Nadia’s footsteps.” Sal grinned at us. “It won’t be long before the two of you are next. You’re all going to keep me busy with planning engagement parties, showers, rehearsal dinners, and weddings.”

“I’ll second that.” Santino popped open a bottle of champagne, spraying the fine mist in our direction.

“Are you getting married?” Gia pulled Dominick over to us. “Two weddings?”

“Whoa, little one.” Gianni lifted her up. “Let’s get Uncle Vincenzo hitched first before we go making any more plans.”

“He’s not getting hitched.” Gia sounded exasperated. “He’s not a horse. He’s getting married.”

We all laughed as Vincenzo and Nadia came onto the dance floor.

“What did we miss?” Vince asked as he took Nadia’s hand.

“Uncle Gianni’s getting married to the princess.”

“Really?” Vincenzo smirked. “That was fast.”

“See what you started?” Gianni pointed at Sal. “One wedding at a time.” He handed Gia to Santino. “Uncle Santino wants to dance with you.”

“He’s not as smooth as you.” Gia kissed Santino’s cheek. “No offense.”

“None taken, kid.” He threw her in the air as she squealed in delight.

We all made a circle, dancing and clapping. Gianni wrapped his arms around my waist and whispered the sweetest words he could ever say to me. “I love you.”

I turned in his arms and took his hands in mine as I looked around me. “Thank you for giving me this life.”

  “My life is yours.”

As the music picked up, we continued to dance. Being in the midst of all this was electrifying. I never wanted it to end.

  GIANNI

Angelique made a trip to the ladies’ room as I went outside and gave the valet my ticket.

“I’ll get your car, Mr. Marchelli.” I was grateful when he scurried off into the lot because I wanted to have my car heated before Angelique came outside.

The night had taken an interesting turn. I had planned to tell her how I felt at some point this weekend. I wanted the timing to be right. When she gazed into my eyes on the dance floor it was as if no one else existed in that room. I had to tell her. Loving her was as necessary as breathing.

“Gianni,” a deep voice called out.

“Senator.” We’d made small talk earlier in the evening but he was too busy campaigning to really enjoy the party. “Did you have a nice time?”

“It was an over-the-top function as usual. Your mother has a knack for entertaining.”

  “She lives for this stuff.”

“My daughter said goodbye to me.” He shrugged. “I guess she’s not coming home again tonight?”

“She usually spends Saturday at my house.”

“She’s been with you since Wednesday night,” he reminded me. “I suppose I should be happy she came home for Thanksgiving dinner before returning to you.”

“Angelique is free to do whatever she wants.” We’d both gone to have Thanksgiving with her dad and his family. After dinner, we went to my family’s for dessert. “It’s a long weekend and we wanted to spend as much of it as possible together.”

  “I see.”

  “Is there a problem?”

“I’m just wondering what it is you’re doing with my daughter.”

Before I could answer him, the valet brought my car as Angelique joined us in front of the winery. It was time to go.

“Daddy.” She hugged him. “I thought you’d left.”

“I’m waiting for my car,” Jack told her. “I was chatting with Gianni.”

“Wasn’t it a wonderful party?” Angelique took my hand. “I had so much fun but my feet are killing me.”

“Maybe the shoes are too high?” Jack glanced at her feet. “Just an observation.”

“These shoes are fantastic even if I won’t be able to walk tomorrow. Gianni’s friend owns a boutique in the city. She has the best stuff.”

“Why don’t you get in the car?” I opened the door for her. “It’s cold out here.” I glared at Jack. “We should get going.”

“Bye, Dad.” She kissed his cheek. “I’ll text you tomorrow.”

“Please.” He hugged her before she got into the passenger seat and I shut the door.

“I’ll walk you to your car, Senator.” I pointed as the valet drove up behind mine in Jack’s sports car. “My intentions are good when it comes to her,” I assured him even though I knew he didn’t believe me. “She’s a special woman and I care deeply for her.”

“Save it.” He laughed. “She’s a novelty. She’s rich, smart, and beautiful but she doesn’t belong in your world. I’ve known you a long time. My daughter is naive. She’s caught up in your charm and intrigue.”

“She means more to me than you realize.” I didn’t want to have to justify myself to this jerk but he was Angelique’s father and no matter how I felt about him, I had to respect him. “I hope I can prove that to you.”

“I hope so too because I’m not sold.”

“Have a good night, Jack.” Anyway you shake it, she’s coming home with me.

That bothered him more than my last name ever could.

  Chapter Fourteen

  GIANNI

I Don’t Want to Lose You

I gazed up at the skylight, studying the stars and the moon as I listened to Angelique sleep soundly in my arms. Her breathing was soft and even. Her contentment surrounded me in calming vibes. The mere presence of her settled my mind.

It had been a week since I declared my love for her. Seven days since I had become a better man. That was what Angelique had done for me. I could never be a good man. Not as long as my family engaged in illegal activity but for her, I could be a better man. That was what I kept telling myself.

I glanced down at her, wondering if I could give her the life she deserved. I’d never given it much thought before. I didn’t have a reason to rethink my career choices. It had always been me. I did what I wanted and made no apologies or excuses. Now I had a reason to be more careful, more aware of my choices. It wasn’t just me anymore.
