Can't Stop the Love of A Boss 2

“I have one stop to make. I can be to your office in forty-five minutes,” she told him.
“I’ll be here waiting for you,” he told her before they ended the call at the same time.
Laura smiled all the way to the bank. Her poker chip was in a safety deposit box. It was time to put that poker chip to work. Her sister would most likely fight her when she finds out that Laura was behind the events that are sure to take place once she drops this folder on the lawyer’s desk.

Scott Taylor looked at the woman sitting across from him. If he would’ve met her under different circumstances, he would try to take her out on a date or two. Instead, she was there on business, very important business. If he was able to get Michael Aries off and get the bad detectives at the same time, it would be like a Christmas sale in the middle of July.
“What do you have for me?” he asked Laura.
She pulled out a large envelope and tossed it onto his desk.
“Look in there. Once you get past the pictures, it makes for a very good read,” Laura told him.
He opened the folder and out fell a small cassette tape, what looked to be phone records, and some more papers
“Is this Michael’s baby mama?” he asked as he looked at the raunchy pictures.
“Yes, that’s my sister, La-La,” she answered.
“Sister?” he asked looking up from the pictures.
“Yeah, my sister,” she confirmed.
“You do know this is some heavy shit that you’re handing me. Your sister could go to jail for this shit,” he told Laura.
“Yup,” she answered, making sure to pop the ‘p’ at the end.
“Are you sure you want me to use this?” he asked.
“Yes, I am. I just want justice to be done. Michael Aries was set up and perjury was committed, all because of some bitter woman. Too bad that woman is my sister,” Laura answered.
Scott Taylor didn’t know what this woman’s sister did to piss her off, but he would be sure to not get on her bad side.
Chapter Twenty
The sound of the handcuffs clicking shut make Nikki cry harder. She thought she had the perfect plan to get Pain back for turning his back on her when he tried to put her out, and she didn’t understand what went wrong. She was hurt and confused all at once.
“I don’t understand why you’re saying I’m the one under investigation and not the man who pushed me down the stairs,” she told the detective.
“You may not be aware, but your fiancé had security cameras set up in his house that ran twenty-four seven,” the detective said.
He watched the color drain from Nikki’s face.
“Can you tell me that again?” Nikki asked the detective.
“At the time of your accident, there were cameras rolling and recording the whole thing,” the detective told her. He waited a few moments for her to digest the information before continuing with what he had to say. “Is there any reason you want to bring harm yourself for your child?” the detective asked.
Nikki didn’t have the strength to answer the detective. She felt like someone had punched her right in the stomach. How could she not know that he had cameras set up in the house? All that time she spent alone and out of the eyes of the nurses, she spent going through his things. If her accident was on camera then so was her rambling through the house. She understood now why he told her he wanted to kill her while she was sedated.
“Ma'am, can you please answer my question?” the detective asked.
“No, I don't want to harm myself or my child my unborn child,” she told him.
“There is no other explanation for you to dive off the top of the stairs like you did. Are you suffering from any kind of mental condition such as bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety?”
“No, why would you even ask me that?” Nikki asked with her face balled up to show how offended she was by that question.
“Well, to make sure, we are going to issue a court order for you to be mentally evaluated. If you don't comply with the evaluation; you will be arrested and put in jail,” the detective said.
“Arrested for what?” she asked.
“For starters you knowingly filed a false report. Then, that dive you did off the top of the steps guaranteed you a murder charge,” the detective said.
“How can you charge me with murder and I'm the one carrying the baby?” Nikki asked.
“The same way you accuse your fiancé of murder and was trying to make us believe he pushed you down the stairs,” the detective answered.
“I don't know why this is happening to me. It seems like all bad luck is coming my way. I try to do good things and be a good person, but things always seem to happen to me,” Nikki whined.
“I don't know what type of good person would dive down some steps knowing she's pregnant, and an at risk pregnancy at that,” the detective said.
“Am I allowed to have any visitors? You know since you have me all handcuffed to the bed and shit,” Nikki said.
“Only immediate family, preferably a parent,” he said.
“What? That means I'm not going to have any visitors. The only people who come to visit me are my two aunties. My mom is a damn drug addict and most likely trying to stay out of jail herself,” she said.
“I don’t know what you want me to say to that. I guess all I can say is if your aunties come, I’ll let you know,” the detective said.
He was all out of sympathy and compassion for Nikki. She was the worst type of woman in his eyes. The ones that try to pin a man for some horrible crime that they didn’t commit. He would make sure the fact that Nikki had killed her own child and blamed an innocent man got out to the other prisoners. He knew they would deal with her ass soon as word got out.

Laura sat in the waiting area of the prison waiting for her turn to be searched so she could go back to her waiting prisoner. Attorney Taylor had reviewed the information that she had given him the other day. When he was done he had no time to waste to get her on Mike-Mike’s visitor’s list. He knew that Mike-Mike would have some questions for her.
After the call to the prison, he called Laura to let her know that she was on now Mike’s visitor’s list. He also advised her to visit him as soon as possible. They didn’t have any time to waste. So, here she was, uncomfortable and second guessing her actions. It was too late for her to do that now. She knew Scott had a meeting with the governor later today.
Walking up to the guard who was going to search her, she rolled her eyes. Laura was not in the mood to be felt up by a man looking woman right now. Judging by the smile on the guard’s face, she knew that’s exactly what was about to happen. Stepping up, and trying not to show the attitude she had, Laura smiled as big as she could.
“I haven’t seen you here before. Who are you here to see?” the guard asked.
“Michael Aries,” Laura answered.
“Oh yeah, did you know him before he got in here?”
“Yeah, he’s my sister’s baby daddy,” she told the nosy ass guard.
“Hmm, you not up here with your sister, so what’s up with that?”
“Do I have any other papers to sign?” Laura asked, not wanting to continue with this line of questioning.
“Step forward and hold your hands up,” the guard instructed.
Laura did as she was told.
Laura had to hold her breath as the guard walked around her, looking her up and down. The guard stayed behind her and ran her fingers through Laura’s hair. Immediately, she felt the manly hand rub her neck and back. She expected to feel the hands on her ass, but instead, she was shocked to feel the hot breath of the guard on her neck and ear. The guard’s hands moved to the front of Laura’s body. Each hand grabbed a breast.
“Let me know if you wanna changes teams, softie,” the guard whispered in her ear as she ground her lower half into Laura’s ass.
Is that a fucking strap, I feel? Laura asked herself.
“Oh,
you feel it,” the guard said as she finished molesting Laura’s body. “You’re definitely good to go. Don’t forget what I said,” the guard said and licked her chapped, nasty looking lips.
Laura wasted no time walking into the visiting area. She scanned the room for Mike-Mike and saw him sitting at a table in the middle of the room. Their eyes met, and she headed toward him. He looked at her like he was trying to figure out what the hell was really going on.
“Hey, Mike,” Laura said as she sat down.
“Fuck all that. What the fuck is really going on?” Mike asked. He knew something had to go down that was really bad for her to turn on her sister like this. “What’s the real reason why you’re helping me out? I’m saying, I been in this motherfucker for damn near twelve years. What the fuck you doing all this for?” he asked.
Mike-Mike wasn’t one to hold his tongue, and he knew her so-called help was dressed in a garment of bullshit.
“My conscience started getting to me. I just want all the secrets out in the open,” she said, telling a half truth.
“You don’t have a soul, so that conscience lie, you can keep. I’m a smart nigga, so I already knew that it was La-La who set my ass up. Back then, she was like second skin to me. That’s what I get for putting my all in some bitch that’s some kin to your grimy ass. I didn’t know you knew about the shit, though. I’m gonna tell you now, thank you for helping me out. My lawyer told me whatever it was that you gave him will set my ass free immediately.
Now that all the soft shit is put to the side, let your sister know I’m coming for her ass sho’nuff. I haven’t decided what I’m gonna do with you yet. I’m sure once I get out, I’ll be able to find out why your ass pulled this card in the first place,” Mike-Mike said, and then he rose from the table and walked away, leaving her there alone and scared.
Chapter Twenty-One
Murder had pushed the party back a week after Lawrynn found out that Nikki was her sister. Lawrynn tried to act like it didn’t bother her at first, but everyone knew better. Murder was right there by her side, just like with everything else. Pain had even been coming to check on them. Today was the day, though, and Murder was relieved. He was tired of keeping this secret from her. He knew that this would put a smile on her face, which he desperately needed do.
Murder had left the house after telling her he had a meeting but he was sitting at the club with Allen simply because he knew if he stayed home she’d be questioning him to death.
Murder was nervous and amused at the same time. He had one of the barbers go pick up Lawrynn to drop her off at the so-called birthday party. She was pissed when he called and told her that he had a last minute business meeting to attend. He laughed at the conversation.
“Law Baby, I’m sending Ali to come pick you up. I have a last minute meeting to go to. It’s about the new club I want to open. I know it’s cliche as fuck for a nigga to open a club, but this shit may pay off for both of us,” he told her.
“If you’re not gonna be there yet, then why the hell do I need to be there? You do know my sight is back. I can just drive my damn self,” she said.
“Why would you drive, and I already have a car out? That don’t make sense to have two cars out at the same spot. Just be ready when the man gets there. Don’t give him a bunch of bullshit either, Lawrynn. He’s doing me a favor. Please be nice,” he said while holding in his laugh.
“What time are you getting there? I’m not trying to be there without you for too long. I might have to fight some thirsty nigga off,” she teased.
“Just make sure you’re ready when Ali gets there. He’s gonna call me then I’ll call you to come out the house. You know how I feel about niggas being in my house when I’m not there. I promise I’ll make all this shit up to you tonight,” he coaxed.
“I guess I can get in the car when he gets here, but you owe me. You know we’re supposed to walk in together,” she whined.
“I know, but I got you later, I promise. I love you, Law Baby,” he said, trying to sweeten her up.
“You better love me. Let me go get ready since I can’t drive myself,” she told him.
“Thank you so much. I don’t know what I would do without you,” Murder said before ending the call.
Murder put the phone down beside the blue velvet box that was sitting in front of him. Tonight was the night he’d finally stop saying he was going to propose. He was nervous because he knew how she felt about surprises that are this big. Flowers or a surprise trip out of town were as far as she liked in the surprise department. This, on the other hand, was something on another level. He had her family in attendance, even her damn mama. All of his people were going to be there as well.
“This is it for you, nephew,” Uncle Jimmy said as he watched his nephew contemplate what he was going to do.
“Yeah, I’m nervous as fuck, though. I shouldn’t be so messed up about this. We’ve been practically stuck to each other since Nikki did that fuck shit. I would lose my shit if she wasn’t at the house with me every night,” he said.
“Then what’s the problem? I know she’s the one for you, but if you want to keep pussy footing around here then call the shit off. I know I’m not gonna lie and tell her it’s my damn birthday. I’m old enough as it is, so I don’t need any other birthdays fake or not,” Uncle Jimmy fussed.
“Does Pain know about this shit?” Uncle Jimmy asked.
“He should, but I haven’t talked to him about the party other than asking him if he was coming. He’s been at the house checking on me and Law-Baby. He just stays for about ten or fifteen minutes then he leaves. I think he’s bringing Connie with him. He said that he’s been talking to her more since Nikki’s shit came to light. He did tell me that she’s been calling him, but he doesn’t know what for, and he’s not accepting her calls,” Murder said, shaking his head. “I did talk to him about being the best man a while back though,” he added.
“Talking about the shit and seeing the shit are two different things. Just keep an eye on him tonight. I don’t trust him for some reason,” Uncle Jimmy said.
Murder nodded, but in the back of his mind, he wasn’t even listening to his uncle.
“How’s Ms. Ella? Is she coming with you tonight?” Murder asked, changing the subject.
“Your auntie and I are just fine. I’m happy as hell that we’re both old as hell. If we were younger, she would be knocked up every year,” he said with a smile.
“Too much information,” Murder said and laughed. “Let’s go downstairs and make sure everything is set up right. I need this shit to go smooth tonight, no fuck ups,” Murder said.
They walked downstairs, and everything was set the way he asked. The room was decorated in yellow, silver, and tan. When Nell said those particular colors, he looked at her with a side-eye, but once everything was together it looked damn good. There were balloons that spelled out Lawrynn’s name and the phrase ‘We Love You’ was as well in alternating colors. He knew that she would be pleased and surprised all at the same time.
“She’s on her way. Is everything set the way you want it. Are you ready?” Uncle Jimmy asked.
“It’s go time. Is everybody here?” Murder asked.
“Everybody that matters,” he answered.
“Well then, I guess it’s show time.”
“Get your life right, nephew,” Uncle Jimmy said.
Murder got an alert on his phone that the car with Lawrynn was about five minutes out. He got his stuff together and went to the stage of the club.
“She’s five minutes out, everybody. We’re gonna turn the lights out and can you all clear the dance floor?” he asked everyone.
The crowd did as they were asked. The lights were cut off. Everyone heard the door open then the spotlight went on Murder. Everyone was looking at the door that opened. They were shocked to see Lawrynn on the arm of an unknown man. She tried to make it look like everything was okay, but Murder knew different. He gave a head nod to Allen, and then he dipped out of t
he crowd. The look of fear and unexpected terror on Lawrynn’s face made Murder want to kill the nigga beside her. He didn’t know the nigga from what he could see but he also saw Kelvin come up from the back of the crowd. Once Lawrynn and the stranger got in front of Murder, who was standing in the middle of the dance floor. He could see the tears coming down her face.
“I hear you a nigga who means something out here in these streets,” the man told Murder.
Murder neglected to say anything in response. He just kept his eyes on Lawrynn. He could see Allen coming up out of his peripheral vision, but he didn’t want to let of that fact to the man in front of him.
“Who the fuck are you, and what do you want?” Murder asked.
“I figured since you the man, and you’re sprung on baby girl here, you could get her folks to come talk to me tonight. Everybody knows Lawrynn is the favorite of this fucked up family of hers. In order to get their attention and yours in the quickest way possible, I had to use her so all of y’all can know that I’m not fucking around. I need some answers and some blood. It doesn’t matter to me the order or who it comes from. All I know is there ain’t nobody leaving here tonight until I get what I want,” the man said.
“Then you should know you picked the wrong one today, nigga. I ain’t got shit to do with this damn family. She is my only concern. You can kill all they asses if you want. Just leave her out of it,” Murder said through clenched teeth.
Murder knew he didn’t have any answers for this man, so what the hell was he gonna do?
“When the fuck did you get out?” he heard Aunt La-La say out of nowhere.
“I know this is a shock to you. Where the fuck is my daughter, bitch? I need her to see her mama let the world know what the hell she did,” the man said.
“Fuck you, Mike-Mike,” La-La said.
“Daddy, is that you?” Nell asked as she walked up.
The man looked at her and got tears in his eyes.
