Angelic Attraction

by Nicole French

I follow like a sheep towards the alcove. I want to make sure I’m near the end of the seating—there’s no way I’m getting trapped in the middle with Chris blocking my exit. But when we get there he hangs back and gestures for me to sit down leaving me no choice. ‘Damn—what the hell am I doing here?’ A strong feeling of wanting to get drunk and dance washes over me but for the present time I’m stuck right where I am.

He leans into me making pleasant chit chat for a while; throwing in some hints and double entendres to gauge my reaction. I laugh them off as best I can and try not to give out any sexual suggestions trying to ignore the faint smell of garlic coming from his breath. Maybe he’ll take the hint. Maybe he’ll sense I’m not attracted to him; although the chances are slim as he’s not the brightest spark—which is another reason I’m turned off. I sip my Mojito through the straw to make it last—I need to keep a clear head. That straw has become my life saver and I keep it firmly planted in my mouth every time he leans forward close enough to kiss me. I look over at Jody and she’s kissing Mike passionately. Her hands are moving around inside his shirt as she’s caressing his back. I look back at Chris and he moves a little closer. ‘Oh shit and shit again. Where’s that straw?’

I look back at Jody hoping that she’s going to break contact and announce she’s going back to the apartment to let loose in private. But Mike and Jody are getting even more turned on—locking into their own private world; oblivious to Chris and I sat there like a couple of voyeurs. Then Jody throws her head back in pleasure and I see Mike’s hand moving rhythmically at the top of her dress and it’s obvious he’s pleasuring her. I carefully glance over at Chris and he’s watching with a hungry look on his face—like a teenager watching a porn film for the first time. I’ve got to get out of here. I put my Mojito down and announce that I need to go to the restroom. I figure if I can just get out then I can make my getaway. I’ll be long gone before he realizes I’m missing. I turn and start to rise a little in my seat to show I need to get out but there’s no way he’s going to let me free that easily and before I know what’s happening he’s lunges forward for the kill. I close my eyes tightly waiting for impact wishing this was just a dream—a terrible nightmare that I’m going to wake up from any minute.

Then....nothing happens. No slobbering Chris—nothing. I open my eyes, and for the second time today I’m awestruck. Brad is stood at the entrance to the alcove and has his hand on Chris’ shoulder.

“Excuse me buddy” he addresses Chris politely “Hey Angel, there you are—I’ve been looking for you. Are you coming?” he says to me and it’s obvious that he’s seen my predicament and is trying to spring me from the situation I’ve got myself into. I think quickly thanks to keeping a clear head.

“Oh hi Brad—yes, I’m ready when you are. I was just chatting to Chris.” I’m almost as impressed with myself as I am with Brad’s quick wits and suave way he’s handling the situation. Chris immediately backs off and stands up to let me out; shaking hands and smiling with Brad to ensure he hasn’t caused any offence. He must think that Brad’s my boyfriend. ‘Nicely played Brad—nicely played.’

“Jody” Brad acknowledges her curtly and nods. His expression cold and filled with disgust. She pushes Mike away and pulls her dress down to cover herself up then sits up straight like someone who has been caught doing something they shouldn’t. I manage to scramble out from the semi circle seating and he turns to me and smiles.

“Shall we go?” he says assertively, and to keep up the pretence I reply with a ‘yes’ before turning to everyone in the alcove and bidding them goodnight, shooting a mean glance at the waitress who seems to be so fascinated by what’s going on. Brad gives a quick smile to Chris and Mike that fades into an icy glare at Jody before we turn away to leave.

“Having boyfriend trouble Angel?” Brad asks as we gain some distance.

“Boyfriend? No way” I snort. “To be honest he’s latched onto me and I’ve been trying to get away—is that bad?” I look at him expecting to see disapproval but instead he throws his head back and laughs.

“Oh dear, and here’s me hindering your escape” he smiles. “Just walk out with me Angel and I’ll make sure he gets the message” he says protectively. I’m so glad he’s here although how.... and why? There are hundreds of clubs in LA—what are the chances of him being here the same time as me?

“What are you doing here Brad?”

“Okay, you’ve got me. I messaged Jody to find out where you’d be tonight and despite her best efforts I luckily managed to find you” I look at him unable to take in his words. ‘So that’s why her phone kept alerting her and she’s been acting suspiciously’. It’s all falling into place.

“Why did you want to find me?” I ask. I kind of want to see him blush and set him off balance like he has done to me but he looks me straight in the eye without a hint of a tremor.

“I want to get to know you better. You dazzled me earlier today and I know you felt it too” he says with total calm. Now I’m blushing and feeling flustered again. I glance over at the alcove and I can see Chris craning his neck to look at us.

“Don’t worry about him” Brad intercepts with confidence. “Let me drive you home.”

“Oh I don’t know about that Brad. I mean....er...I really don’t know you”

I can’t believe this is happening. Only a few hours ago I saw this gorgeous vision walking alongside the restaurant. So hot that he rendered me speechless and here he is in front of me—wanting to meet me and I’m playing hard to get.

“You look a little worse for wear Angel. Have you eaten?” he says calmly, still holding his gaze without blinking. I pause for a minute as his caring tone makes me feel bad for being so evasive.

“Actually no, I stupidly skipped dinner. Not to worry, I’ll get something when I get in”

“I’m feeling a few pangs of hunger too, what do you say you let me take you for something to eat” he says charmingly. I can feel myself squirm as I wrack my brain for a plausible excuse to say ‘no’. Through the dimmed lights I can see the outline of his muscular arms; his slim face and chiseled jaw-line with soft androgynous features—that baby-faced look that really makes me tick. Sensing hesitation he adds “look Angel, you can either stay here in which case the whole place is going to be wall to wall fucking in approximately half an hour and I’ll leave. Or I can take you to somewhere you’ll be more comfortable and have some food. What’s it to be?” Wow, talk about being assertive, this man is so direct it knocks me sideways. But he’s right; small pockets of voyeurs have already started gathering around some of the alcoves. I stared at him wide-eyed with my mouth open in surprize. “I’ll take that as a ‘yes’ then” he smiles confidently. His hand is soft but strong as he grabs mine and I feel that same electric flush I experienced earlier on at the restaurant. We swiftly make our way across the balcony, weaving our way through the mass of people and towards the stairs.

“Perhaps I should go home Brad, I’m tired and I need.....” but before I could finish he grips me around my waist and stares hard into my eyes; cutting me off mid sentence before I can come up with an excuse.

“Come on—time to eat” his strong arm sweeps me down the stairway, out through the big oak doors and into the grand entrance hall—only stopping briefly to collect his jacket before stepping out onto the sidewalk. The cool night air in combination with the hunger makes me give off a small shiver.

“Here; take my jacket” and he quickly drapes it over my shoulders. I study his perfect androgynous features as he watches intently for the valet to arrive with his car. He is so well groomed. His dark blonde hair precisely cut, tapering into his clean neckline where it has formed small soft spikes. Perfect, evenly toned skin that is cleanly shaven and so smooth it looks like he hasn’t started shaving yet. Large green eyes; so soft and kind. ‘No one with eyes like that could be cruel’ I think to myself as the valet pulls up in the black Aston Martin. The valet, passes Brad the keys and, despite protocol, q
uietly says “beautiful car Sir” with a glint of envy in his eyes before stepping back to open the passenger door for me. Brad escorts me over then strides around the front of the car to the driver’s side.

“Thanks Vincent” ‘Oh, so he knows the valet? I wonder if he comes to places like La Boheme often and more to the point; what does he get up to?’ He is, after all, a loose friend of Jody’s and that usually means sexual liberation is never far away. I stiffen; beginning to feel like the idea of leaving with him may be a mistake. This guy is utterly stunning and way out of my league. I am so inexperienced that maybe I have misread the kindness and gentlemanly offer of dinner as a code for ‘let’s have sex’. He must sense my tension as we filter out of the La Boheme concourse.

“Are you okay Angel? You seem a little tense” I pause for a minute, wondering how I’m going to convey my concerns without actually having to spell it out.

“Are you a regular at that place then?”‘Oh why did I say that? I sound like his mother’. He smiles, revving the car into third gear and hitting the gas. I can feel myself being pushed into the black leather seat with the force of the sudden acceleration.

“Not during opening times” he replies with a smirk. ‘What did that mean? Now my head is really spinning.’ After a pause, he continues. “I own it. If I’m honest it really isn’t my scene at all. The things these people get up to...” he pauses shaking his head and laughing, “.... but as an investment it does very well”. ‘So that’s how he knew the valet’ I feel myself relax a little as I manage to control the rider-less horse that has taken a hold of my mind. “Do I look like the kind of man that goes to orgy’s?” he says with a cheeky smile that makes me blush, and I become aware that I’m doing that cuter than cute mannerism I did whenever I get embarrassment. He shifts the car into fifth as we cruise along and hits a number on his car phone. A woman’s voice answers—she sounds mature.

“Valerie, it’s Brad”. The voice returns with a courteous greeting and calls him ‘Sir’. “Would you be kind enough to fix a little light dinner for myself and my friend Ms Nichols please? We’ll be arriving in about thirty minutes”.

“Of course Sir, will there be any special dietary requirements?” Brad turns to me, looking for an answer.

“Are you vegetarian, vegan, allergic to anything?”

“Oh er no—no I eat most things......but really, don’t go to any trouble. I’ll get something to......”

  “Did you get that Valerie?”

“Yes Sir, I will have it ready for your arrival. Will there be anything else Sir?”

“No Valerie, that will be just fine, see you shortly” and with that, he clicks disconnect. “Valerie’s my house keeper over at the beach house. She lives in with her husband; George.” I smile awkwardly, realizing that my last chance to go home had been lost. At least we are going to eat and it wasn’t just a lame excuse to get me to leave with him. This is a whole new world to me, a distant cry from living on my parent’s ranch in Texas; riding horses and helping my brother. I feel as though every part of me is wide awake, like I’m experiencing an adventure. I stare at Brad’s strong hands and slender fingers as they grip the sporty steering wheel. I love a nice pair of hands—and Brad’s hands are very sexy. I hold back a smirk as it suddenly strikes me as being funny that I was sat in this hot, sex-God’s car being whisked off to his place for dinner and here I am giving his hands a ‘hot or not’ rating. Jody’s right—it is time I let my hair down. I don’t know anything about this man, apart from him being drop dead gorgeous and stinking rich. The way he walks and carries himself, his manners, not to mention his clothes, car and the glint of a Rolex that caught my eye while I was gazing at his hands earlier. I feel very small and vulnerable and am puzzling why this man would be interested in me when he could have his pick of any woman in LA. This man—this beautiful man—could chew me up and spit me out. The question was; would he? I compose myself as best I can, clearing my throat gently.

“Do you mind telling me where you’re taking me Brad?”

“I have a house on Manhattan Beach. I often stay there weekends unless my mother – or one of her friends—wants it.” ‘His mother?’ “It’s my place Angel” he says as if replying to my thoughts “but she borrows it sometimes. She has places too and it works the other way as well, sometimes I use those. I have an apartment that I use during the week”. ‘Just how many places has this guy got?’ As I really can’t think of anything else to say without it sounding like an interrogation, I decide to resign myself to the situation and sit back and watch the scenery flash by. Snuggling into the warm leather bucket seat with his jacket still wrapped around me. I listen to the engine fluctuating between purring and roaring with every gear change as he maneuvers the car around the tight bends. After a while the car slows down and we turn through some large iron gates and into a well lit driveway.

“We’ve arrived Angel, didn’t take too long did it?” He pulls the car into the circular area at the front of the house, parking up next to a black Range Rover Sport. He swiftly gets out and moves around to the passenger side to let me out. I have never been treated this well before; his manners and the way he treats me make me feel so special and at ease. Taking my hand gently he leads me to the door, which opens just before we get there. A round faced, stoutly built lady wearing a smart black tunic comes to the door to greet us.

“Evening Valerie. This is my friend Ms Nichols”

“Good evening Sir. Everything’s ready for you Mr Singer, as you requested”.

“Slip off your shoes and make yourself at home Angel. There’s a bathroom just down the hall if you want to freshen up before we eat” I make my way down the hallway. ‘What the hell am I doing here? Going off into the night with a man who is practically a stranger—this is so out of character for me I usually kiss them and leave alone.’ I begin to wonder if my pledge to live a bit more on the wild side might have been taken a bit too far. He could murder me and bury me in the garden for all I knew. I stare at myself in the mirror for a minute while logic takes over my racing mind. Jody knows I’m with him and Valerie’s seen me too, so people know I’m here.

“Be gone racing mind; pull yourself together” I whisper to myself as I wash my hands with the luxurious soap that is offered to me on a gold carved hand. The bathroom is pure white, with a white marbled floor. The wash basin is set in white marble with an ornate gilt edged mirror above it. I inspect myself closely to make sure I look presentable—a little tired looking around the eyes—probably from last night’s over indulgence—but otherwise not too bad. Nothing I can do about it now anyway; I’ll have to do. I return and Valerie is nowhere to be seen. Brad is over by the table pouring Champagne into fine Swarovski crystal flute glasses.

“Come, take a seat” he smiles and beckons me over.

“Your house is lovely Brad, have you had it long” I say trying to make conversation but finding that I am feeling increasingly relaxed around him.

“About five years now—do you like it?”

  “Yes, it’s very swish”.

The dining area is set against a full window that extends the whole width and height of the wall. Through it I can see a luxurious swimming pool surrounded with spherical lights. Beyond the swimming pool, there’s a garden with a lighted pathway that leads down towards a stretch of private beach and the evening lights twinkle, making reflections on the ocean. To the side of the dining area there is an open plan kitchen with more marble worktops all designed in black, gray and stainless-steel. It’s spotless and gleams as if it’s brand new. ‘He really likes his marble—even the dining table is black marble.’ I sit down and Brad hands me a glass of Champagne. In front of me is a white china plate with freshly poached salmon covered in a light hollandaise sauce with a tossed salad.

“Eat Angel, or the Champagne will go to your head” Brad says in a concerned tone so I pick up the fine, heavy, solid silver cutlery to begin. “You must be hungry—I know I am. Relax and enjoy the food Angel, I don’t b
ite—unless you want me to”. I look startled at his confidence and he returns my shock with a laugh and a playful wink. I blush and bow my head in that special way that I seem to do.

“Has anyone ever told you, you’re extremely sexy when you’re embarrassed?” he says looking totally serious as though it were quite a natural question to ask. I smile again, but this time, make a conscious effort not to do the cute mannerism again in case he thinks I am teasing. Before I know it, the meal is over and I sip the exquisite Champagne while we engross ourselves in casual conversation. I hadn’t felt this relaxed in the company of a man since Wade. He has an almost hypnotic effect on me as his smooth, deep voice entwines perfectly with the headiness of the Champagne. Brad clears the dinner plates and takes them over to the kitchen, quickly loading them into the dishwasher before gracefully walking back over to where I’m now standing, looking out onto the pool. I can see him getting closer in the reflection of the window and soon I can feel his presence; the warmth of his body as he stands close behind me. He places both hands gently on my shoulders and strokes them down my arms sending a shiver of pleasure right through my body. Before I can recover his arms have wrapped around my waist and he begins planting soft kisses and gentle licks to the base of my neck. I feel that same flush of electricity that I had felt earlier on that evening only this time it’s far more intense. A warm pool begins to form at the top of my thighs and I can feel that I’m becoming wet with desire.
