Shoot The Moon (Scorpio Stinger MC Book 6) Page 15

by Jani Kay

  Ahhh shit.

My sassy mouth was getting me in trouble again. I buried my face in his neck, taking the opportunity to sniff in his masculine scent. God, I missed this.

Razor stomped off toward the exit, everyone cheering loudly as the door slammed closed behind us.

“It’s time we got this whole thing worked out. I’m sick of wanting you and you fighting me every step of the way. We settle this my way tonight, Alexis Clarke.”

Oh boy, it was going to be a long night. I couldn’t wait.

  28 — Razor

With Lexi in my arms, I could conquer the fucking world.

I kicked the door to my room closed behind us and turned the key. It grated in the lock. I pulled it out and put it safely into my pocket.

  Deja fucking vu.

Seemed my life was on replay until I got it right.

I placed Lexi back on her pretty little feet and we just stood staring at one another for a few moments, our eyes roaming one another’s bodies until we had our fill. I’d expected her to mouth off or scream and fight me, but to my surprise she was dead calm.

Maybe it shocked me more because I could read the hunger in her eyes. She wanted answers.

“You really inked my name on your cock?”

I grinned impishly. “Yeah. For real.”

  “Why?”

“I told you. You’re my woman forever. Ain’t gonna be another after you.”

Her head tilted in the typical Lexi way. “Why do you want me? Please help me understand. Is it because I resist you and your ego can’t handle it?”

I scratched my chin while I thought about my answer. Only the truth would do.

I nodded. “Yeah, that’s definitely part of it.”

Her face dropped and she stared down at her feet. I lifted her chin so I could see her eyes. “But there is more to it, Spitfire.”

  “I’m listening.”

  Where did a man start?

I pulled her into my arms, needing to feel her heartbeat against mine. She didn’t resist. I leaned in and rested my forehead against hers.

Clearing my throat as I gathered my scattered thoughts, I began. “It’s like this. From the very first moment you walked into this club, you had my attention. My cock craved your pussy and everything about you intrigued me. I had to get to know you better . . . in every sense.”

“Hmmm,” she hummed against my chest, urging me to continue.

“But you didn’t see me. You only had eyes for Ryder. In the beginning, it was about the challenge. Of me winning you over so that I was the conqueror.” A smile twisted my lips. “You already know I’m a betting man and I just couldn’t lose to Ryder.”

Lexi pulled away and stared up at me, her dark eyes demanding answers. “So, it’s all about winning?”

“Yeah, it was a big part of it. I’m not going to insult you by lying. But there was also so much more. You weren’t the first woman who wanted Ryder over me—I was used to that. But you were the first woman I cared enough about to want to win. Does that make sense?”

  She nodded. “I guess so.”

“Good, because this is where it gets interesting.”

  “How so?”

“The more I saw you, the harder I fell for you. But of course, I was in fucking denial, wasn’t I? Nobody could love a man like me. Damaged. Broken. A born killer. I wanted better for you. Better than a man like me.”

  “That doesn’t make sense.”

“You getting what you wanted was more important to me. And if that was Ryder, I wasn’t going to get in the way. Until I realized that Ryder was a gonner for Jade. The way he loves her, no other woman stands a chance in hell.”

Biting her lip, Lexi nodded her agreement.

“It’s the same way I love you. There’s nothing Ryder wouldn’t sacrifice for Jade. I’ve seen him in action. Jade is his air, his reason for living. You, Lexi, are that for me.”

Her voice was small and thin. “I am?”

“I wanted to protect you from getting hurt. And I also believed I wasn’t good enough for you. Fuck, you kinda told me that, anyway.”

  “No, that’s—”

I placed my fingers over her lips. I’d give her a chance to speak soon enough. First, I had to get everything I’d been carrying inside me off my chest.

“My fear held me back. I was scared I was gonna choke when you needed me most. And I almost fucking did.”

She pulled my hand away from her mouth and held on to it. “But you didn’t. You saved me and Mia.” Her voice hitched. “If you hadn’t come—”

“I still owe your ass a spanking. What the fuck were you thinking, Spitfire?”

“It’s the rebel in me. I can’t help it. I just needed to breathe . . . be free for a while.”

“Promise you’ll not do anything like that again. You wanna go somewhere, it’s with me.”

  She raised an eyebrow. “Everywhere?”

“Yeah. This world we live in . . . it isn’t safe. Bad shit happens all the time and I don’t wanna be worrying that you’re safe.”

“It’s my fault what happened to Mia, so to be honest, I’m not going to pull a stunt like that again. Anyway, it’s not a bad idea that I’ll have my own hot bodyguard with me, I kinda like the sound of that.”

“Ahhh, but my services aren’t free. There is a catch.”

“Haha, there always is. I know how you’re gonna make me pay.”

“I also take payment in advance, so don’t hold back, okay?”

She shook her head. “Men, you don’t stop thinking about your dicks for five minutes, do you?”

“Nah, guess we’re attached to it.”

She swatted my arm. “Show me the tattoo. I’m dying to see it.”

Fuck, I didn’t need to be told twice. I pulled down the zipper. “I thought you’d never ask. My cock is rock hard, baby. It needs attention.”

  *****

“Razor, you showed me that you valued me for who I am. You didn’t expect me to change before you could love me. That means more to me than I can explain.”

His fingers trailed down my body, traveling inch by inch down my ribs and over my stomach. How was I supposed to focus on the conversation while my skin craved more of his touch?

“Just because you’re different doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you. Maybe your father didn’t understand you because you’re more like your mother.”

She sucked in a sharp breath. “Wow. I never thought of it like that. Yeah. Aunt Sylvia, Jade’s mother, told me that Mom was a creative kind of person. She didn’t have tats or a belly ring, but she was ahead of her time in a lot of ways.”

If only Lexi could see herself through my eyes.

“She would’ve loved the woman you’ve become.”

Lexi sighed. “I wish I remembered her. Just something small to connect to her. But I don’t. All I have are photos and other people’s memories of her.”

I stroked over her hair. “That’s tough, baby. At least I knew my mom for a while.”

“Wasn’t it worse? Knowing her and then losing her? I can’t imagine what that must do to a kid.”

I rubbed my chin, deep in thought. “The worst was that she wasn’t there to protect me against Daemon. He tormented me as a kid. Chopper told me to grow some balls if I complained to him, so other than Ox and Cobra, nobody really looked out for me.”

“Ox is kinda like a father to you, isn’t he? I’ve noticed how close the two of you have become. He has such a big heart for such a scary man.”

“Ox is the real deal. He doesn’t take shit from anybody. Yet he’s the most loyal person I know. He’s always been in the background, always there to pick me up when I fall. It’s a real pity he never had any kids of his own. He’d be a great dad.”

Lexi laughed. “How do you know he hasn’t sown any wild oats. Ox can be pretty sexy if he isn’t pulling his ugly mean face.”

My insides coiled. “You think Ox is sexy?”

  “Wanna know a sec
ret?”

  “Yeah?”

“When I came for my first interview, I thought Ox was your father, not Chopper. Somehow the two of you are so similar.” Her hand cupped my cheek and her thumb caressed my skin. “You don’t look anything like Cobra or Daemon. Or Chopper.”

I laughed. “Thanks. Are you saying I’m the ugly odd one out?”

“No, silly. I think you’re handsome as fuck. Maybe you look more like your mom? I’d like to see a picture of her.”

I didn’t like uncovering old wounds but suddenly I was curious too. I’d always been the odd man out in this family and maybe that would explain a few things. Especially why I was closer to my mother than my father. It wasn’t just because I was the baby of the family. She treated me slightly different than my brothers. I’d always put it down to the twins fighting all the time and making her cranky.

“I’ve got one buried away somewhere. I’ll show you when I find it.”

“I’ve never really thought much about what affect our parents have on us. How where we grow up and how we’re raised can affect the outcome of our whole lives.”

“Deep things for such a pretty head to worry about,” I teased, kissing her on the tip of her nose.

“That’s why I never want kids. I’d fuck them up from the day they’re born. Poor babies wouldn’t stand a chance in hell.”

I narrowed my eyes at her.

“You don’t want kids? But you’re so good with Cobra’s and all the other little ones.”

“Not everyone is destined to be a parent. I love kids. Other people’s kids. I just don’t want any of my own. It’s just too much responsibility bringing a life into this already fucked up world.”

Disappointment washed through me. I’d never really given the kid thing much thought, but since I’d hung out with Jamie, I the thought kinda grew on me.

“You have so much love to give, baby. You have this tough bitch thing going on, but I’ve watched you over the years. You’ve got a soft heart. I think you’re just trying to protect yourself more than anything else.

“That may be true. All my life I’d had to look out for myself, so it’s quite possible.”

“That’s my job now. I wanna be the one to protect you. Will you let me?”

She swallowed hard. Tears brimmed her lashes.

“That’s the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me.”

  “Answer my question,” I croaked.

She stared into the depths of my soul for the longest time. Nobody existed but us.

“Yeah.” She nodded. “Yeah, I’m ready for you to take that role.”

I lifted her off the ground, swinging her around and then as I stopped, her mouth came crashing down on mine. She kissed me. Hard. Brutal. Teeth gnashing and tongues warring.

I couldn’t have loved it more.

  Couldn’t have love her more.

She released my mouth. Breathless, we both sucked in air.

“I love you, baby. So fucking much.”

  Her voice quivered. “Razor.”

“Tell me you love me, too.”

Her eyes closed for a second and when they opened again, they were brilliant like stars in a dark night.

“I love you, Razor. I always have. I was just too blind to see it.”

  “Lexi,” I choked out. “Baby.”

“In fact, if you want kids, I mean really, really want kids—” She froze as if she was too scared to talk further.

“We’ll talk about that later. I’m in no rush. First, I wanna just enjoy the two of us being together. You know my dick’s gonna be inside you night and day, don’t you?”

She laughed. “Exactly where I want it.”

“I have a crazy fucking idea.”

  Her eyes widened. “Oh shit.”

“Yeah, its fucking perfect. I bet you—”

  She slapped my arm. “Stop.”

“No. Listen, if we get on my bike, we can be in Vegas in a few hours. I wanna marry you tonight.”

  “You’re serious.”

“Sure am. Say yes.” I hoped to hell she wasn’t going to make me go on my fucking knees again. That shit wasn’t for me. Didn’t mean I wanted to marry her any less. My heart thumped against my ribs as I watched her face light up.

  “Yes!”

I scooped her into my arms and did another twirl.

I knew it. She wanted to be my fucking wife! No time to waste.

“We can stay for a few days and have a honeymoon.”

“Haha, you just wanna fuck me.” She crinkled her nose in the adorable way she always did when she was testing me.

“Exactly. Alexis Malone. I like the sound of it.” I kissed her hard and when I let go, I said, “Ready to go?”

  “What? I haven’t packed—”

“You don’t need anything. We’ll buy what we need in Vegas.” I waggled my eyebrows. “After we’re married you won’t be needing anything but a toothbrush. I’m gonna keep you naked and fuck you blind for three whole days. It’s what my cock demands after the way you’ve neglected him.”

  “Yeah?”

“To be buried deep inside that sweet tight cunt of yours. Come on, if we don’t leave now, I’m gonna throw you down and screw you first. Although it’s tempting, I just wanna get to Vegas and get married first.”

Once I had an idea in my head, I wanted it executed immediately. This was no different. “We have the rest of our lives to fuck.”

She giggled and held out her hand to me. “Okaaay,” she drawled, “what are you waiting for?”

For a moment reality struck. My smile faded. I didn’t want her to have regrets later. This was meant to be the most important night of our lives.

“You okay missing the party back there?” I nodded in the direction of the clubroom. After all, she gone to a fuckload of trouble organizing it all.

She nodded. “It’s not my party.”

I grinned. “Let’s go make fireworks in Vegas, Spitfire.”

She reached up on her toes and kissed me. “Yeah, biker. Let me just have a pee and grab my leather jacket.”

Life with Lexi was going to be fun. We’d work out the details as we went along, one day at a time.

  29 — Lexi

If anyone told six-year-old Lexi that she was going to get married to a biker in Vegas, she would’ve nodded wisely and totally agreed. Nothing about me was conventional, so it was just right that my wedding wouldn’t be traditional either.

As if Razor read my mind, he said, “I think it’ll be the coolest wedding. We don’t need anyone else, baby, just you and me.”

How fitting. Just the two of us, promising to love one another eternally.

I straddled his Harley and shifted to the back.

“I love it,” I said, staring into his eyes as he fastened my helmet under my chin.

He ducked his head and kissed me. Quick and hot, impatient.

“Let’s go before somebody finds out what we’re doing.”

It was early evening and it would be dark soon.

I glanced back toward the clubroom from where music and laughter drifted to us. My stomach grumbled. I wished I’d eaten something from the platters of food I’d prepared. I’d been so busy all day that I’d forgotten to have a decent lunch, only nibbling here and there while setting everything up.

“How long will it take us to get to Vegas?”

“Around four hours. We’ll stop along the way to get some food.”

I rubbed my tummy. “Thanks, I’m getting hungry.”

“I’ll call a few hotels and see what’s available when we make a stop.”

“Yeah, that sounds like a good idea.” The impulsiveness of our actions started to register in my mind, sending a thousand butterflies swarming in my belly.

“Ready?” His voice was low. Serious.

  “Ready.”

He got onto the bike in front of me and I placed both arms around his torso. Gripping his ass tighter with my knees as he opened the throttle, I leaned into him, pr
essing my tits against his back.

What the hell was I doing?

The best thing in your life. That’s what.

I’d be hard pressed to find a man who was more perfect for me.

  Razor got me.

That was more than enough for anyone, including me.

When we came back to Longbeach, I’d be Mrs. Malone. My heartbeat quickened and my mind raced. It’s surreal.

Once we got to Vegas I was going shopping for a dress. I didn’t care much about the other frills, but buying a special dress was not negotiable.

I closed my eyes and imagined exactly what I wanted. The chance of finding a mermaid style dress was probably close to zero, but a girl could dream. I’d thrown makeup and a few necessities into a small backpack, together with my toothbrush.

Going naked for a few days wasn’t a problem—I liked my body and so did my man. I’d slipped some sexy underwear into the bag too, hoping that Razor would like it enough to take it off as soon as he saw it.

I smiled at the irony of it, a sensation of contentment washing through me.

I wanted Razor to drool over his bride, to not be able to take his fucking eyes off me.

Within about thirty minutes Razor pulled over at a small café. The rumbling of the bike had drowned out the rumbling of my stomach.

  “Pizza. Your favorite.”

I grinned. “I want a large one with the works. And I’m not sharing.”

Razor threw back his head and laughed. “Fuck, you have no idea how big Joe’s large pizza is. But if that’s what you want, that what you’ll get.”

“This is the place you get those awesome pizzas from? But it’s so far from home.”

He nodded. “This is where me and the boys come for a ride when we’re really hungry.” He took his helmet off and then helped me with mine. “Haven’t had one for some time because of lockdown.” He patted his belly and smacked his lips together. “Can’t wait to sink my teeth into a slice.”

With his hand possessively in the small of my back, he steered me into the pizza place. It smelled of garlic and baking bread and my stomach went into overdrive, grumbling as if I hadn’t eaten for a week.
