He cursed under his breath. “Don’t tempt me. Not when there’s no way I can have you.” He tilted his head to the field.
I kissed his throat, and his big body shuddered against me. He growled, and I chuckled softly. “Sorry.”
He squeezed my ass. “You will be.”
Now I was shivering, too.
He took my hand. “You know how much I hate leaving my wife wanting, but I promise to take real good care of you later.”
“Your wife is more than agreeable with that idea,” I whispered.
He gave me a squeeze. “Stop teasing and come with me. I want to show you something.”
He led me across the yard and into the barn. Both doors were wide open, which meant he hadn’t taken me there for privacy…more’s the pity. Beside the workbench was something covered in a sheet. “What’s that?”
“Your surprise.” His cheeks darkened, and he bit his lip.
God, I loved it when he did that. “Well, are you going to show me?”
“If you don’t like it, or it’s not what you want…I won’t be offended, okay?”
He was so serious, nerves started dancing in my belly. “Sure, okay.”
He pulled off the sheet and stepped back, crossing his arms and watching me closely. A cry burst past my lips. I stood there rooted to the spot, blinking rapidly.
“Abi?”
“Oh my God,” I whispered, tears gathered in my eyes.
“Does that mean you like it?”
I smiled so wide my face ached, then I clapped my hands, doing a silly little dance. “Do I like it? It’s the most exquisite crib I’ve ever seen. Did you make it?”
“Yes.”
I rushed him, and he scooped me up in his arms. “I love it.” I peppered his face with kisses. “And I love you.”
He wrapped his arms around me tighter, then I carried on covering him in kisses while he threw his head back and laughed.
