Eden's Children Page 21

by Sandy Johnson

“Meet me at the hotel.” I said.

Then I pulled over and got out of the car. I had to get to her. I knew I could get there more quickly on foot. I had the dogs running at my heels. They knew what was happening, and I wasn’t there to protect her. It was all my fault. If I hadn’t have come on to her and left her there she would still be with me. I couldn’t feel her anymore. I ran faster but when I got there Caitlin was waiting.

“Where is she?” I snarled at her.

“She’s gone.” Caitlin said with tears pouring down her face.

When I saw him I saw red. I could feel people around me and I could hear them shouting at me. He was going to suffer for what he did. I had him up against the wall.

“You ever touch her again I will personally rip you to pieces.” I spat at him.

“I’m sorry I didn’t even know I was doing it.”

“That’s no excuse!” I snapped at him. I could feel Caitlin trying to pull me away, but I didn’t budge until I heard what she said.

“Evelyn’s going to give herself to the agents.”

My chest constricted, and I couldn’t breathe. I looked at Caitlin in panic and then I saw Jake pull up outside. I grabbed Caitlin and practically threw her in the car. I pulled Jake out and got into the driver seat. He quickly ran to the other side, got in and I drove away. I wasn’t letting Eli come near her again.

“Dude where’s Evelyn? What happened?” Jake asked, but I couldn’t speak.

“She’s going to give herself up so that we won’t be in danger anymore.” Caitlin explained.

“But that’s stupid. How can we go on with our lives without her?” He replied. I loved Jakes logic.

“Well she said she never going to be able to live a normal life. She tried with Eli. luckily, I walked in, but she said she was letting it happen. That maybe if she just slept with him it would get easier. She would have gone through with it, but I stopped it, so she said she wants to be with her mom.”

I could hear the devastation in Caitlin’s voice. Now I knew that Evelyn felt the same about me as I did her. She never recoiled when I touched her. Even when I pulled her against me she was happy. She wanted it as much as I did. I could hear a ringing somewhere, but I couldn’t look so I screamed at Jake to find it. When he pulled out the phone he looked at it then at me.

  “It’s Mathew.” He said.

I took the phone off him. “Mathew what is it?”

“Aiden, where are you? Evelyn is back at your house and she’s sprouting magic flowers everywhere. They are going to detect her power. They will be here soon.”

“I’m coming.” I said then hung up.

Sprouting magic flowers? I could imagine her sitting in field with flowers popping up around her. The image made me love her more and fuelled my rage. Wait till I get her in my arms. I’d show her what she means to me and she’ll never leave me again.

  Evelyn

The cab pulled into the long road that led to the house, and I asked him to stop there. I wanted to walk up to the house myself. I was so scared. I needed to take it slow. I got out and waited for the cab to leave before I started walking up the path. As the house came into view it took my breath away. The tree was still there where it had torn through the house, but now it was covered in white flowers. It was surreal. Looking at it I thought maybe I had imagined the whole thing, but there it was staring me in the face. Brilliant white wood covered in pure green leaves. As I looked closer I could see that the flowers were ghost orchids. It made me smile. It seemed that orchid would follow Aiden and I to the grave. I walked up onto the porch and put my hand on the white trunk. I could almost feel a heartbeat coming from inside. When put my other hand on I could feel its life source. Now I recognised it as the green light I’d seen coming away from me and growing up through the house. It was so beautiful. I looked down at my arms and now I could see that the light actually looked like glowing ivy vines dancing along my skin. When I stroked them they moved a little?

Then I saw its memories. I could see myself. I watched as I poured all my love and anger out of my body and saw it fly across the ground where it crashed under the soil. I could see it spreading out under the ground and shoot up through the house. I could feel the pain when the bullets hit. I was never too sure before if I had done this. I know now it was me. I recognised the light was mine. This was my gift. I gave life and I could take it away. I fell to the ground. This is why they wanted me. I had power over life and death and that made me a monster. Or a weapon. Nobody should have that power. I looked around and could see someone in the trees. I could tell he was an agent calling for help. All I had to do now was wait. Now that I had accepted that the light was mine I could feel it flowing all around me. I felt my power growing. I could get out of here if I wanted to, but this was I what I was here for. I missed my mom. I wanted to be with her now. As I sat waiting I watched my light fly and dance around me. It was so beautiful, so I used it to grow a flower. I wasn’t sure how I did it. I only knew that if I pictured it and pushed the light away, it happened. When a lilac orchid grew out of the ground I smiled. I had made something beautiful before I ended this. I wanted to make where I spent my last moments of freedom beautiful, so I spread out my light and the whole area filled with different coloured orchids. The agent had walked closer now still on the phone waving his arms around as if he was annoyed. I was surprised he was alone and walking toward me through the blossoming field. I looked up at my tree and I put my hand on it withdrawing its light. As I did the tree started to shrink into nothing. It was the least I could do considering I broke the house. At least they could fix it now.

  “Evelyn?” I recognised his voice.

“Mathew what are you doing here? New suit?” I asked looking him up and down, but I didn’t move. I felt at peace now. Nothing really mattered. I leaned back on my hands and relaxed.

“Evelyn what are you doing here? You shouldn’t be here. They’ll get you.” He seemed concerned.

“I thought they would have been here by now. I thought I saw you calling them.” I said staring into the forest.

“No, I was calling Aiden.” As soon as he said that I knew he’d be here soon.

I stood up and looked at him. “Call the agents now. Tell them ill meet them somewhere else.”

“It’s too late. Look what you’ve done here; they’ll be here any second. How did you even do this?” He said gesturing around to all flowers.

“They’ll be here, and you called Aiden here?” I asked terrified.

“I’m sorry Evelyn I didn’t know what else to do. I’m part of all this now.” He was close now and I could see he was scared as well.

“What do you know?” I asked.

“I don’t know much. Only that you and Aiden are dangerous, and you have to be stopped, but they are more interested in getting you first. I was told not to approach you under any circumstances, but you’re my friend. I know you wouldn’t hurt me, but they will hurt you so please run.” He said begging.

I could see a car coming now, but not the car I wanted.

“Hide inside and don’t come out Mathew.” I said. When he didn’t respond I pushed him away.

“Get in the house!” I shouted at him, and then he turned and disappeared around the other side of the house.

When I looked back Aiden was already out of the car and running for me. I could see the relief on his face when we found me unharmed, but he needed to leave, and he was never going to go without me. Then I saw my faithful hounds running alongside him. I told them to stop him.

Within seconds they got in front of him and snarled. Aiden stopped and looked at me confused.

“Please Evelyn tell them to stop, or I’ll kill them to get to you if I have to.” Aiden looked serious, but I knew him better than that.

“You need to leave.” I told him.

Now I could see the pain in his eyes. He begged me to stop, but I had no choice. I knew he must have power as well. We were stronger together, but I hadn’t se
en his manifest yet. I watched as he was looking at me, but suddenly my hounds had relented. Now there was nothing between us. He started walking towards me again and I could feel my resolve slipping away, but then I could see their cars driving up the road, there were at least 8 of them. They were here, and Aiden was here. I connected with my green life-force again and pushed it out towards Aiden. I had to protect him. I made sure I showed no emotion while I watched the vines grow out of the ground and wrap around Aiden’s legs. He was dragged to the ground and couldn’t move. He tried pulling them away but more came out and wrapped themselves around his arms and chest.

“Evelyn please stop I can’t go on without you.” Aiden’s pain was ripping my heart in two. I walked up to him and bent down so we were face to face.

“I love you and I’m sorry.” I told him. He smiled until I got up and walked away.

“Evelyn come back!” He was shouting and pleading but I kept going towards the black cars. I could see Caitlin and Jake standing by the car looking at me in shock.

“Jake stop her.” Aiden was shouting, but he couldn’t move.

I knew he wasn’t even going to try to stop me now. They were both frozen and that’s exactly how I wanted it. When I got close enough to the cars I saw Mathew’s dad get out.

“Evelyn it’s so nice to see you again although I never thought in these circumstances.” He said, sneering at me.

“I’ll go with you if you let the others go.” I said flatly.

Now he was smiling. “Really, you’ll come without a fight? But that wouldn’t be much fun would it?”

“You want to take me on?”

“Aw no come on Evelyn. You’re a good girl. I never imagined someone so close to my son would be the enemy.”

“I’m not your enemy, you’re mine.” I said.

“No, you’re the human races enemy!” He spat.

  “I am human!”

“No, you and your brother are vermin.” He said with malice.

“If I come with you, will you let everybody else get on with their lives?” If I was the enemy then surely if I surrender, the war would be over.

“Ok Evelyn because my son is fond of you I’ll grant you this.” He said opening the door of the car.

I started walking towards them when a howling came from the forest. I looked back at the mutts, but they were silent. More howling was bellowing from all sides of the woods. I looked at Aiden. He was free now. The vines were ripped apart at his feet, but he wasn’t moving. He was standing staring straight at me. The whites of his eyes weren’t visible anymore they had filled with pure black. I could see a glowing light flowing around him, just like mine but it looked like it was made of black thorns. He looked terrifying and powerful. He looked like a God.

  Chapter 24

  Evelyn

I could see the wolves dashing out of the forest now behind Aiden. They were coming straight for us. Watching the wolves run to our aid was hypnotising, and I knew that Aiden was doing this. He was calling them to save me. I could feel Aiden was pulling me towards him. I tried resisting but he started walking towards me and the anger was rolling off him. Everything else happening around us, was nothing now. It was just us defying each other. He tried to grab me, but I moved too quickly.

“Leave!” I shouted at him. I couldn’t handle him touching me anymore.

“No, you are mine.” He said almost dominating me.

  “I'm not yours!” Wrong move.

He came at me now full force. He picked me up and took me into the house and into the kitchen. He pressed me up against the wall. I was scared and excited as he looked down at me, his eyes filled with rage. I could feel his light flowing around me. It was almost dancing with mine and when it caressed me it felt like heaven.

“You are mine.” He said as he held my face in his hands.

I could feel him pushing his hardness against me. I gasped as I could feel myself pulsing. He was so tight against me I couldn’t move. I could feel the blush forming in my cheeks. He could see now how it was making me feel. I felt embarrassed. I tried to move my head, but he wouldn’t let me. His eyes were fixed on me, holding me there as he pushed against me again.

“Aiden please.” I said as I moaned with pleasure. I didn’t know what I was asking for, but he pushed against me again.

I looked at him and he was searching my face looking for a sign to tell him to stop, but I wanted him so much. He let go of my cheeks and put one hand around my waist. He tipped my chin up with the other hand, leaned in slowly and pressed his lips against mine. He moved his hand to the back of my head as he pushed his tongue into my mouth. I opened willingly and pulled him closer to me. He was kissing me deeply and desperately like he would never get the chance again. I put my hands against his chest and I could feel his heart beating rapidly. I moved my hands downs his body until I got to the hem of his shirt and slipped my hand under it, moving up feeling all his chest. I could feel him trying to pull away from me, so I bit his lip and he crashed back into me. This time he was moving his hands down my body and pushing his body against mine. His kisses slowed and deepened, and then he pulled away sharply. The loss of contact felt like my soul was being ripped in half, but then I knew why he pulled away. Caitlin and Jake had walked in and seen us. Aiden walked away with his head hanging down but didn’t look at them. Then he doubled back straight into my arms and hugged me.

“Stay with me please.” He whispered into my ear.

“Forever.” I said back to him.

He had his head in the crook of my neck and I could feel him kissing my collarbone and across to my shoulder. He knew they couldn’t see what he was doing with my hair shielding our shame. I also knew he couldn’t keep away now. He felt the same as I did. When he pulled away, it hurt.

  Aiden

I pulled as hard as I could against the vines, but they wouldn’t budge, and Evelyn was walking towards the agents now. I started screaming. I couldn’t let this happen again. I could feel my body starting to shake. I needed to lose control, so I let the darkness consume me and felt myself growing stronger. I could hear my calls had been answered when I heard the howling coming from deep in the woods. The same howl I had heard before, but I needed more. Then I heard howls coming from all directions charging through the trees. I tore away from the vines and turned to face her. When she looked at me I could see fear and desire in her eyes. I could feel the ground pounding as the wolves tore their way out of the woods, but I kept my focus on Evelyn. I tried to get her to come to me while the agents were watching the wolves coming, but she didn’t move, and I wasn’t leaving her there. I started walking towards her. She was staring me down, fighting me. I tried to grab her, but she slipped away again.

“Leave!” She screamed at me. Leave? Never.

“No, you are mine” I said. She had to understand that I wasn’t letting her go.

“I’m not yours.” She said forcefully but I could see what I did to her body.

She might be able to tell me no, but her body told me differently, and if I had to show her that I would.

I moved so quickly so she didn’t have time to react. I picked her up and took her inside where no one could see. I pushed her against the wall. I could feel my anger taking control of me. I put all my weight against her, so she couldn’t escape. Feeling her body against mine made me want to possess her. I wanted her to belong to me and no one else.

“You are mine.” I said holding her face to mine, so she knew how much I needed her.

I felt so frustrated being this close to her that I pushed myself against her. She gasped when she felt me, but she didn’t push me away. I was trembling with excitement as I saw the same blush on her face that I’d seen before. She tried to look away, but I didn’t let her, I needed to know how she felt. I pushed against her again.

  “Aiden please.” She gasped.

As she closed her eyes I could feel her writhe against me. When she looked at me, I searched her eyes for fear or disgust, but I only saw desi
re. I moved my hand onto her waist, slipped my hand under her top and pressed my hand to her lower back. I moved my other hand and lifted her chin, so she was couldn’t move away from me. I was scared she’d stop me, but she waited as I leaned down and lightly kissed her lips. She was shaking now. I let go of her chin and held my hand to the back of her neck. I forced her mouth open and slipped inside caressing her tongue with mine. I wanted her to know she would always belong to me.

I could feel her moving my hands up my top. Moving her hands over my chest was sending me over the edge. I needed to stop, or I’d have to take her here, but as I pulled away she bit onto my lip and I lost all control. I pressed myself against her again. Took her mouth with mine. I was feeling all her body, now I needed to be inside her. I slowed myself down. It couldn’t happen like this. Then I felt them standing there watching. I pulled away immediately and walked away from her. I didn’t look at them, but not being able to touch her now was impossible. I walked straight back into her arms. I leaned my head into her neck. She smelled so amazing that it only exacerbated my want for her.

“Stay with me please.” I whispered into her neck. I couldn’t handle her leaving me again.

  “Forever.” She said.

I couldn’t help myself. I started kissing her neck and across to her shoulder. I knew they were watching, but I had to hold onto her. I thought she would never want me like this again. It was like a dream I never wanted to wake up from.

“Guys we have got to go. The wolves have scared them off, but they’ll be back.” Jake said. I knew Evelyn was looking at him, but I couldn’t face him. I wanted to stay connected to her. To hide within her.

“Aiden, we need to go.” Evelyn said to me softly.

I knew once we went with them we couldn’t be like this again. We would have to pretend in front of them. I know they saw me kissing her, but that was it. They didn’t really know what had happened. They knew I had stronger feelings for her than I should have. They would judge me and not her. I pulled away and headed outside walking towards the car.
