AIDS in America by Age
The odds that a person will be diagnosed with AIDS in a year are 1 in 5,747. But this risk varies dramatically with age. For children younger than 13, the risk is 1 in 250,000, reflecting the fact that most persons in this group are not sexually active and are only likely to have been exposed if their mother was HIV-positive during pregnancy. The odds rise sharply once Americans become sexually active: for people age 20–24, for example, the risk is 1 in 2,710. The next highest likelihood occurs between ages 25 and 29, at which the odds of being diagnosed with AIDS are 1 in 2,841. After this age the risk decreases, falling to 1 in 43,498 for a person 65 or older.

When It Comes to STDs, Who Tells the Truth?
The odds a male 15–44 has ever been tested for HIV are 1 in 1.7; for a female, 1 in 2.4.
Now, what about honestly reporting the results of STD tests to your partner? In a 2008 survey of 75,000 men by AskMen.com, 2% of respondents admitted they have lied about their sexual health. But before you decree this as proof that men are pigs, consider that an accompanying survey of 10,000 women got the same result.

Discriminating

Experienced daters know what they want and don’t want. Among unmarried adults 40–69 who date, 1 in 1.6 is comfortable dating outside his or her faith, but other things are real deal breakers. And women age 40–69 are even pickier than their male counterparts.
