Blindsided (Virginia Bluebloods Book 1) Page 19

by BJ Wane

Eve discovered something else this past week; she had gotten used to having regular sex and really missed those daily, awesome climaxes Nate was so good at eliciting as well as the variety of ways he got her off on. She could still feel the bumps of the anal vibrator, the heightened sensations stimulating that orifice gave her and couldn't wait for more. It worried her how much she still craved the sex, and the man. Thus far, she'd managed to ignore Nate's comments this was more than sex between them now. No matter how wonderful it would be if that were true, the vivid memory of the painful breakups in college and how much they had hurt kept her from agreeing with him. Best to continue thinking this was just sex, to continue telling herself one day it would end, as Holly had been telling her.

Eve carried the steaming cups into the great room and handed Holly hers before returning to the sofa to sit next to Nate. Nate put his arm around her and she shoved her misgivings aside, something she had excelled at lately.

"You should've been with me in England, Eve. You would've loved seeing the picture perfect beauty of the Cotswold's rolling hills and the quaint, thatched roofed cottages. And the Warwick Castle is unbelievable! We went over the actual drawbridge and the gardens surrounding the castle were in full bloom and, well, you'd just have to see that place to appreciate its historical magnificence."

Carl noticed Nate frowning at Holly's inconsiderate choice of words but it didn't keep him from scowling at him when he interrupted Holly. "Eve rides now, Holly. Beautifully, I might add."

  "So I've heard…"

"Alone. And all thanks to Nate."

"Carl," Eve warned, uncomfortable with his biting tone and his praise.

"What, pumpkin? You should be damn proud of your accomplishment. Nate unselfishly spent time with you, encouraging you…"

"I spend time with Eve because I want to."

"Well, I think England sounds lovely, Holly. Maybe I'll get over there some day," Eve interjected with false brightness, hoping to defuse the situation and lighten Nate's cool rebuke. "You've traveled, Nate. Where all have you been to?"

Nate recognized her maneuver and the tightening around her mouth, a sure sign of her irritation. He noticed how insecure Holly came across and how Eve tended to cater to those insecurities. He considered that a mistake on her part, but was willing to let it go for now. There were only a few minutes left until half-time was over and Nate filled the tense silence describing the annual trip to Belize he and Dec, Fin and Wes took each year, omitting the main reason they rented all five bungalows on the private island was so they could indulge in several days of uninhibited sexual fun in the sun.

"You'll love it," he told Eve, letting her know he was planning on taking her this year.

  "Really? It sounds like fun."

"Just make sure she doesn't forget her glasses, Nate. The sun isn't good for her eyes," Holly said, her tone disapproving.

"Bullshit, Holly," Mark snapped. "Eve's been going without her glasses for weeks with no problem."

"Her eyes are sensitive; she can't take any chances…"

"Enough!" Angry, Eve stood, irritated with all of them. "I'm tired of your bickering. I'm going to clean up the kitchen. Either watch your game or go home. I don't care which."

Eve was at the sink vigorously scrubbing the empty manicotti pan in an effort to relieve her aggravation when Holly touched her shoulder lightly.

  "I'm sorry. I don't know what I did…"

"Never mind," she sighed before turning and hugging her. Eve hated hearing that worried, subdued tone in her voice.

Eve felt Holly's sigh of relief as she hugged her back. "Come on, let's sit at the table and gab until their game is over." Taking a seat, she waited until Eve joined her before saying, "So, Belize, huh? That sounds like fun."

"That announcement took me by surprise but it sounds exciting." Eve knew Nate probably already had several adventures planned to broaden both her sexual and challenging activities. "Just think, for the first time I'll have a travel experience to share with you."

There was no way, if she could help it, that Holly would let Eve spend several days away from her on a tropical island. There was no telling what kind of nonsense Nate would try to convince her of while there. She planned on finding a way to share that trip with her, but until she managed to finagle an invitation, she would keep her desire to go along to herself. "And I'll want all the salacious details. Now, tell me more about this little mare you can ride so beautifully."

Nate turned off the television as Carl and Mark rose at the end of the good game. Glancing toward the kitchen, he saw Eve wave when the guys called goodbye, she and Holly still at the table, laughing and once again at ease. "Look," he told the guys as they walked to the front door, "I don't care why you can't get along with Holly, but for Eve's sake make an effort, would you?"

"Really?" Mark asked with sarcasm. "Are you as blind as she is to all the snide, inconsiderate remarks that girl makes in front of her. 'You'd just have to see it to believe it'," he mimicked. "How cruel is that? We tell her about the things she can't see. Holly throws them in her face."

Nate bit back his exasperation. "Inconsiderate, yes, but I think Holly is simply self- absorbed. She doesn't mean them maliciously."

"You're wrong, Nate," Carl told him, opening the door and letting in the cooler evening air. "But you won't believe that until you're around Holly more. By the way, the reason Holly insists on Eve wearing glasses is they emphasize her handicap and she thinks that will keep people, men and women, from getting too close to her."

Nate watched the two men walk next door without a backward glance before closing the door. They had been around both Holly and Eve a lot longer than he had, he acknowledged as he headed to the kitchen, but they'd also had Eve all to themselves these past months, that was until he came along. Nate pushed aside their warnings, but his frustration with Eve's friends reared its head again when he heard Holly say, "I'll pick you up from work tomorrow and we can grab a pizza."

"Eve's already got plans for after work tomorrow, Holly."

  "I do?" Eve asked perplexed.

"Yes, you do," he said, noting the irritation crossing Holly's face before she masked it. "The guys and I are getting together for a game of football and I planned on you being there. Katie will keep you company then there's someplace I want to take you afterward." And something he wanted to do that didn't include Holly.

Holly rose, sensing both Eve and Nate's tension and not above taking advantage of it. "How about if I pick you up, Eve, and we'll go watch them together? I'd like to meet your friends, Nate," she told him, deliberately putting him on the spot.

"Okay, thanks, Holly. You'll like the guys and Katie, won't she, Nate?"

  "I'm sure she will."

Eve walked her out before returning to the kitchen to face the anger she felt coming from Nate, wondering why he seemed pissed. "What?" she demanded when he came up to her, hands fisted on her hips, head tilted up at him.

"You'd rather give in to Holly's pushiness than go with me?" It was taking herculean effort for him not to take her decision to meet him at the ballpark with Holly in tow instead of allowing him to pick her up personally.

"I don't know what I want," Eve snapped back, once again put on the defensive because no one could get along.

"Like hell you don't," Nate snarled down into her defiant face. Wrenching off those God damn glasses, he tossed them on the counter and had her jeans shoved down to her mid-thighs before she knew what he was doing. "This," he said as he pushed two fingers inside her dampening sheath, "this is what you want. You can lie with your mouth all you want, Eve, but your body doesn't lie."

"That's not fair, Nate," Eve whimpered as pleasure replaced anger so fast it made her head spin.

"Fair? I'll tell you what's not fair, you refusing to even consider what's between us, you constantly taking one step back from me every time I get too close. Is this all you want?" He pulled back, rasping over her clit before plunging back inside her so hard she went
up on her toes, her green eyes glazing over with pure, unadulterated pleasure. "Or how about this?"

One second Eve was teetering on the edge of climax and the next she found herself braced over Nate's thick arm, her ass rapidly warming from the pelting slaps he was giving her. She couldn't prevent a cry from escaping as the stinging pain made her pussy swell and moisten further, adding to the pleasure just waiting for permission to erupt.

"I'm sorry, Nate, really. Please." It was humiliating she couldn't hold onto her anger, that her body, thank God, was once again making all the decisions for her.

Her soft apology and plea broke through his frustration and Nate took a moment to caress her reddened, hot buttocks before gliding between them until he sank his fingers into her liquid heat again. "Come for me, sugar. Now."

Her cry of release echoed in the otherwise silent house, her pussy clutching at his fingers as she writhed over his arm. When her body slowed, he raised her up, palming her ass just under her buttocks and lifting her until they were eye level. But before he could say anything, she was clasping his face and kissing him, her mouth as soft and wet and warm as her pussy. Despite how difficult it was, Nate let her have the lead, waited to see where this was now going.

Eve's buttocks were throbbing with warm pulses, the feel of those hard hands holding her up by her now tender globes highly erotic. Damn Holly, Mark and Carl, she thought as she kissed him, her lips clinging to his, her tongue exploring his mouth for a change, much the same as he did hers. She loved her friends, but not enough to risk losing Nate and the rare possibility that whatever was growing between them wasn't going away.

Pulling back, she ran her fingers over his rough face, once again mapping out the shape of his nose, feeling the crease in his lean cheeks, the raspy stubble of his five o'clock shadow. "I'd love to come to your game after work tomorrow. I wasn't choosing Holly over you. I was just trying to keep the peace."

"Then you need to spend some time tonight getting used to the larger plug I've got for you," was all he said even though the relief sweeping through him made him want to say much more.

  Chapter Thirteen

Holly frowned when she stepped into Eve's classroom and saw her laughing with a very attractive redhead and one of her students. It had been difficult of late to get Eve alone, and she missed having her all to herself. Even when they were in high school and Eve was surrounded by her popular friends, Holly hadn't felt as left out of her friend's life as she had since returning from Europe. Of course, this last assignment kept her away longer than any of her previous ones and part of that was her fault. She had been having too much fun overseas to be in any hurry to return home. She never imagined Eve would get involved with a man, let alone seriously and with a man like Nate. As her best friend, it had always been up to Holly to shield Eve from anything or anyone who could hurt her. Eve had always been so damn gullible, even more so after her accident. She didn't see people for how they really were, only how she wanted them to be. If it hadn't been for her, Eve would have had her heart broken more than once in college, not seeing the true character of the guys she chose to date.

Even later, after they graduated and Eve started working here at the school, she fell for the glib lines of a fellow co-worker and it had been up to her to set her straight. It was Holly's fault Eve had gotten into bed, in more ways than physically, so deeply with Nate. She had stayed away too long, hadn't been here to protect her from Nate's untrustworthy influence. Now it was up to her to see he didn't cause more harm. What she couldn't figure out was what Nate wanted from Eve. The man was rich, had the looks and body that incited wet dreams and could have anyone he wanted. Maybe it was the amusement of fucking a blind woman, she thought, watching Eve demonstrate her skill on the guitar for her student with enviable flawless effort. But that didn't explain the possessive look she had caught on his face when he was looking at Eve or his insistence on spending last weekend alone with her. He wanted something, had to want something from her that Holly wasn't catching.

Holly learned at a young age that people always had ulterior motives for being nice. She had been a shy, overweight geeky kid in grade school and an ideal target for bullying. Being the smartest kid in the class didn't endear her to her classmates unless she agreed to do their homework for them. Eve was the only one who ever came to her defense, to befriend her without expecting something in return. In high school, she was rarely asked out, and when she had been, it was with the expectation she would put out in return for a movie and a burger. By the time they started college, Holly decided she would be the user with everyone except Eve from there on out. With Eve, her role as both friend and protector was cemented when Eve lost her sight. For the first time, Eve needed Holly more than Holly needed Eve, and she wasn't going to let her down.

"You have someone waiting for you, Eve," Camille said when the dark haired woman just stood in the doorway glaring daggers at her and making her uncomfortable. "And I need to get Joshua home."

"Aw, just a little longer, Aunt Camille," Joshua whined, clutching the guitar he had been having fun learning how to play.

"It's just me, Eve," Holly called out making no move to enter the room. "I'll wait until you're ready. I'm sure the guy's will play for a while yet."

"I'm sorry, Josh. We have to call it quits for today." Eve stood and handed Joshua his practice sheet to take home, not missing the sarcastic edge to Holly's voice. She'd forgotten how much Holly hated to be kept waiting. "Right now, you're my best student and I'm very proud of you. I'll see in you class tomorrow." Eve squeezed his shoulder before cocking her head toward Camille. "Will you be picking him up Wednesday after tutoring?"

"I'll be here." Leaning down for privacy, Camille whispered aside, "Are you still seeing Nate?"

"Define seeing." Eve didn't want to get into a discussion about Nate right now; she'd have enough explaining to do when she told Holly she was riding home with Nate after their football game. Having Carl and Mark not get along with Holly had been stressing enough; having Nate and her best friend constantly at odds with each other was driving her crazy. Why couldn't anything be simple?

"Oh, you know," Camille responded airily, "going out, staying in together, fucking."

"Then yes, we're still seeing each other. As a matter of fact…"

"I have better things to do than stand around here," Holly snapped, causing Eve to jump since she hadn't indicated she moved closer. "Can we get going?" Seeing the two of them whispering hadn't improved Holly's sour mood.

"I'm sorry, Holly. This is Camille and Joshua and yes, we're done with Joshua's private tutoring. I'll be ready in a few minutes. I have to use the restroom first."

"Nice to meet you, Holly." Taking Joshua's hand, Camille told Eve good-by and left without looking at her rude friend again.

"You could've been a little nicer." Eve went to her desk and grabbed her bag, Holly's peevish tone irritating her. She wouldn't let it dampen her evening, but she wouldn't let it slide either. "I'm only running a few minutes late and if you're so put out, I'll remind you Nate wanted to pick me up."

The irritation crossing Eve's face and in her eyes forced Holly to rein in her own annoyance at seeing her without her glasses again and with the headache brewing from the chummy scene between Eve and the other woman. Eve had that rare, but immovable stubborn set to her chin and she knew from experience it was best to tread lightly right now.

"You're right, I'm sorry, hon. I've got a headache, but that's not an excuse. How about if I spring for burgers on our way to the park?"

"That works." Smiling at her, Eve headed to the faculty's restroom. "I'll meet you out front when I get out of the bathroom." She wished she could share the reason she had to use the restroom with Holly, but somehow she didn't think she would appreciate hearing Eve had to obey Nate's strict order to insert the large butt plug he had introduced her to last night before joining him at the park.

Using her cane, Eve left the restroom a few minutes later, the slight shifting of th
e plug as she walked making her sheath sit up and take notice. The stuffed feeling in her anus had anticipation humming through her for whatever Nate had in store for her after the game, making her wonder when, or if her body would be appeased from its long dry spell. From the way her pussy was dampening with each step she took and the tightness of her nipples, it didn't appear it would be anytime soon. She soaked up each sexual encounter like a desert absorbed a rare deluge of rain and would worry she was turning into some kind of sex addict if she didn't look forward to seeing and being with Nate again as much as she did the sex.

Someday soon she needed to give that thought deep consideration and what the implications were of admitting that she wanted the man as much as what he could do to her body. But not now, not today.

"I'm ready," she announced when she knew she reached the front of the school.

"Right here." Holly touched her arm, wondering at the flush on her face and her overly bright eyes. "You feel okay, hon?"

"Never better, except I am hungry for that burger you promised me," Eve replied, hoping to steer the conversation in another direction. She knew her face was warm and hoped her distended nipples weren't noticeable against her light sweater.

"Okay, if you're sure. Better put your glasses on though. You don't want your eyes getting irritated."

Eve fumbled in her bag and slipped her glasses on, thinking Nate was the one who was going to be irritated. Well, this was a small concession to make if it made Holly feel more secure.

One minute Nate was glancing towards the entrance to the park and the next he was knocked back on his ass from a head butt to his gut. Once he caught his breath, he sat up to glare at Dec. "What the hell was that for? I thought we were on the same team?"

"We are and I play to win, so quit looking for your girl and pay attention," Dec responded, showing no remorse even though he knew he hit Nate hard enough to make him see stars.
