Battle Royal
Page 35
When the king continues to alienate powerful nobles, such as the Earl of Salisbury and his son the Earl of Warwick, first blood is shed at St Albans in 1455. The desire for vengeance greases the long slide into outright war – with little mercy shown by either side.
Charting a clear course through the dynastic and factional minefield of the era, and offering an authoritative analysis of the battles that ensued, Battle Royal is the first part of a compelling and rigorously researched two-volume account of England’s longest and bloodiest civil war.

RAZOR’S EDGE
‘He understands how battles are fought, and explains those of the Falklands perhaps better than any other writer has done.’
Max Hastings, Daily Mail
‘It may seem impossible for anything original to appear about the Falklands War, so much has been written about it, but Hugh Bicheno’s book is that thing... readers will find this book gripping and discomfiting.’
John Keegan, Daily Telegraph
