'I do not understand why you have given us this assignment, but we will make sure it is done.'

'That is all I can ask of you. And be assured yours is an important role.'

'Thank you,my lord. I have training to get to.'

'Of course. Let us hope not to speak soon.'

  'Indeed. Farewell, my lord.'

Uxurus hits a few more buttons on the metal disc, closing the conversation.

  EPILOGUE - The Watcher

Sejurus reclines heavily in his chair, looking out of the viewscreen that has been his vantage point for so long. No more hours in the laboratory, no more genetics. His days of creation seem so long ago that they may as well be a different life.

Now he is merely a watcher, keeping a careful eye on his children and their development.

He remembers back to those earlier days, the conflict that exploded between them. It still brings a bitter tear to his eye. Worst of all is the loss that it brought – The Book of Apius and The Book of Truths both no more. Both volumes with their own kinds of wisdom, both disappeared in the light of the Last War between the Noukari. Perhaps it is ultimately for the best – nothing more should drive a wedge between his children.

Much more has been lost since, of course. How long has he held station here? How many months, years, has he sat in this very seat, seeing those he created develop and grow? There was probably a time that he knew, but that has long since passed. He has seen many of his children die, many of them born, and many more grow.

And all the while, there has been peace. Noukaria remains an oasis in a galaxy being engulfed by chaos, threatened on all sides by a nightmare of unending war.

As long as this oasis remains, there will be a chance.

If war comes to Noukaria... then all hope may be lost.

And so Sejurus watches, and watches, and watches. And he shall watch until his eyes can be open no more.
