Fallen Angels: Watchers and the Witches Sabbat
Page 6
As the leader of the Watchers, the knowledge of that which grows from the green earth and the uses of herbs in sorcery is what Semyaza inspires. The Watcher Amezarak is thought to be an inner-Ethiopic corruption of Semyaza. In Jewish legend, Semyaza is an alternate name to Samael and Mastema as Abezi Thibod ("father devoid of counsel").
Semyaza is described as a Seraph who was tempted by the maiden Ishtahar to reveal to her the Name of Power (of El) which allowed her to ascend to the skies. In the Hebrew myths, Semyaza is said to hang upside down between heaven and earth as the constellation Orion (the Hunter). Semyaza had among others two Nephilim sons, Hiwa and Hiya.
Semyaza is the patron Watcher of magicians and sorcerers, an inspiring spirit to the Witch or Warlock who seeks the Elphame path of hidden light of which to cast shadow. Visualize Semyaza, Shemyaza or Amezarak in your invocations and meditations. For further healing meditations and spells, Eshmun may also be invoked with incense and libation offerings. His inspiration of healing comes from both plants, herbs and pharmacological inventions of modern times.
Semyaza is presented here in two forms. The first is the Watcher united and partially composed of the earthly green and fertile vines and the witch-cult knowledge of our sorceries. The second is Semyaza, crowned in radiance of divine power, instructing cultists of the Hellenistic Pan and Dionysos with the rites of health, lust and renewal much like the temple-cults associated with Mt Hermon.
AZAZEL ‘Aζā'ζυηλ
Fallen Angel Who Taught the Making of Weapons, Armor and the Seductive Arts
‘ăzā’zyēl, Azāzīl, Azazael, Azael and Asael are alternates of this Deific Mask. One of the most renowned and illustrious of the Watchers, Azazel has many trails into the darksome path of selfempowerment and wisdom. Azazel in the Book of Enoch “Azazel is the origin of all evil and corruption” and all Hebrew “sin” was ascribed to him. In Enoch, Azazel is bound in Dudael (an opening in the desert) under jagged rocks. We see the origins of this concept from Mesopotamian and Akkadian magical incantation texts.
In Canaanite lore, the God of Death, Mot, was the son of El and was given the epithet ‘Mot is Fierce’ and ‘A Strong God’. Azazel is understood to translate “A Strong God” or “Strength of El”, Asael meaning “El has made”. The Arabic goddess Al
ʻUzzāﻯﺰﻌﻟﺍ is attributed is the planet Venus and had warlike
passions. The Arabic male Deific Mask of Venus as the Morning and Evening Star was the Aramaic Attar, Athtar (Southern Arabia), Ashtar (Moab, see Chemosh in Dragon of the Two Flames), Attar (Ugarit) and the Mesopotamian goddess Ishtar.
The Sigil of Azazel: Antimony (Saturn) and Copper (Venus) for balanced workings of Self-Improvement and Creativity. Darkness is used as a description of the netherworld. To then bind and tie the evil gods (demons), then casting the demon into the netherworld (called the darkness) and to finally shut the demon in the grave of the netherworld. Like Akkadian demons of the ancient near east, Azazel and the later scape goat was associated with the seru or steepe-lands/deserts. The description of the movement of demons and undead ghosts, the Akkadian verbs used to describe them was alaku-satu (to walk about, to roam). The desert and steepe-lands are hostile to man, the very abode of evil spirits of the dead, demons and the undead who prey upon humans.
In Judaic and Christian lore, Uzza is associated with Semyaza wherein the two Deific Masks of the Watchers Azazel and Semyaza can assimilate. Within basic workings, focusing on Azazel as the Lord of the Forge and Glamor Witchcraft (to dress and appear appropriately to support attaining goals in the world) is suggested first. Not only cosmetics, Azazel also instructed on the art of dying fabrics and the use of color in appearance.
The Hebrew spelling of Azazel isלֵזאָזֲﬠ Arabic is ﻞﻳﺯﺍﺰﻋ.
Azazel is the Fire Smith and Lord of the Forge; a higher manifestation later being represented as Tubal-Cain. The origins of Azazel are found in the Canaanite god of death, Mot, whose spelling of his name gave rise to his epithet in Ugaritic texts, “Mot is fierce” or “A Strong God”. Later, the Biblical theophoric name of LXX or ‘zmot slowly transformed him into the Goat-Demon deity of the wilderness and steepes.
The mountain associated with Azazel is also equated with an aspect of the Underworld. In Hebrew demonology, Azazel/Uzza has the retinue of “se'irim" and "shedim” (hairy demons) in which some Israelites made sacrifices to in open fields honoring the spirits of fertility and the balance of life and death.
The Sigil of Azazel the Black Goat and Seirim, for invocations specifically for workings in Mars = lust, self-defense, war, darkness and Sheol (Hell). The 13th Century Cabbalist Moses ben Nahmenides associated Azazel with the planet Mars and the demons under his command are the biblical ‘Seirim’. His realm is in the places of desolation. His power emanated that which causes destruction, he ascends to the stars of the sword, blood, wars, disorder. His rule was in antiquity included the tribes of Esau, those who live by the sword. To offer incense, food or libations to the Seirim as fertility spirits is to honor Azazel. To know of such spirits, divination via Necromancy may be performed using dreams and the black mirror among other techniques.
In the 3rd Century work ENOCH 3, Azza (Shemhazai) and Uzza (Ouza) were against the equal rank of the deification of Enoch into Metatron, while they dwelt in heaven. In later traditions, Uzza and Shemhazai were the tutelary angels of Egypt. The Zohar describes the union of human women and the Fallen Angels who then draw their strength and vitality from the North and “Left Side”. While weakened by being chained in the Mountains of Darkness, these angels are known as the “Men of Names”, anshe shem as they have knowledge of using holy names in their magical incantations13.
Azza and Azzazel have dealings with Balaam in the Zohar; while he practiced the Black Arts in Egypt, he wanted to prevent the liberation of Israel. He went to the Mountains of Darkness to seek knowledge from the two angels. They first surrounded him with great burning serpents, then a guiding spirit called the Unimata, a small beast in the form of a cat with s snake’s head, two tails and small paws. Balaam burns a white rooster as an offering, protecting his face from the Unimata. The spirit then leads Balaam to the great iron chain which is fixed in the earth and goes down into the darkness in the lower abyss.
The chain is tugged three times, the angels call to him which he must bow in respect and then go to them and open his eyes. In terror they appear to him, instructing him in magick for 50 days. Balaam knew a special word of power so he could remain with them through his study.
13 Fallen Angels, Bamberger, pp. 179 Azazel has many incarnations, yet a blazing essence of imagination and the freedom-giving wisdom inherent in the Black Flame. Invoke him with courage, determination and the will to become as you desire. Azazel is presented in several Luciferian grimoires: “Dragon of the Two Flames” from the Canaanite, Qumran and Hellenistic influences and herein specifically in the Deific Mask of the Watcher. With the Hellenistic cloak, his Staff and Wand of Authority and Power is both of Saturn, the Black Flame and the Black Goat. He wears a cuirass of iron and chainmail and a Macedonian shield of his influential design. His Greek helm is crowned with the Radiate Crown as depicted of Hellenistic Kings such as Antiochos IV, Ptolemy III and other conquerors and bringers of art, music, knowledge and inventions.
GADREELΓαδρεελ Fallen Angel Who Teaches the Art of War
The Hebrew spelling לאה רדג translates gader ha-el,
“Wall of El”. Gadreel, another name of Azazel is described in Enoch as the Watcher who showed all the deadly blows to the sons of men; led astray (illuminated). More specifically, Gadreel showed men how to use the weapons of death, the shield and breastplate, the sword for slaughter and from his hand humans went out against those who they call enemies to conquer and destroy. This is the proper Law of Nature; Survival of the Fittest. While Azazel teaches the art of forging and making weapons, Gadreel teaches the art of using weapons to make war. He is associated with the planet Mars.
Gadreel
is a ruthless Watcher who understands that to become great in spirit and flesh you must be balanced in your strategic plans of war upon that which stands against you. Gadreel also recognizes the balance between the Law of the Talon, natural predatory instinct and the weakness of unjustified mercy. If you have an enemy who cannot be won over or negotiated with, destroy (within appropriate legal limits) without guilt and enjoy the victory you achieve. Gadreel is the Watcher of appropriate consideration of options in life: women’s choice to continue a pregnancy or to abort, selfdefense against those who attack you and recognizing this world is cruel and to act accordingly.
The Sigil of Gadreel Gadreel is depicted in the style of a Hellenistic Celt from Galatia in Asia Minor. The Galatians were fierce warriors and mercenaries for the Hellenistic and Roman rulers from 280 BC until the Roman Imperial establishment of Octavian Augustus Caesar in 31 BC. Gadreel descends from a stormy sky, incarnating in an iron breastplate, greaves and with the red cloak of Mars. Gadreel’s Spirit fills the Galatian-styled iron mask, worn by Hellenistic Celts in Asia Minor and Syria; equally the armored cataphracts of Antiochus III and IV. His sword is of a Greco-Roman design and he is crowned with the Radiate Crown signifying Angelic and Deified Force incarnate.
ARAKIELΑραθάκ Κιμβρά
Fallen Angel who teaches the Signs and Auguries of the Earth
Ar’teqif, Urakiba, Arâkîba , Arkas, Araqiel,
Araqael, Araciel, Arqael, Sarquael, Ar’taqoph and Arkiel are all spellings of the name of this Watcher.
The Aramaic spelling is אלפ.
Ar’teqif itself translates ‘the earth is mighty’, Ar’taqoph means ‘the earth is power’ and is generally understood as ‘the land of the Mighty One’. Arakiel instructs on recognizing the subtle association between the elements and nature-spirits and agriculture. The signs of the earth include instinctually interpreting omens you observe in nature, animals, reptiles and birds including interactions you have. This is one aspect of the pact of Witch Blood, having hidden wisdom. Arakiel is also known as Aretstikapha meaning "world of distortion", relating to the chaos or disorder the Watchers bring to the order of the world of the Hebrew God.
Arakiel should be invoked to gain knowledge concerning rational and practical goals to manifest according to your desire. This is real world choices which are balanced between willed focus of energy and strategic application of Thoughts, Words and Deeds. This is akin to Belial and the Mastery of the Earth.

KOKABIEL χωβαβιήλ Fallen Angel who teaches Astrology, Auguries of the Stars
The Angel of the Blazing Star
Kôkabîêl , Kôkhabîêl, Kakabel, Kochbiel, Kokbiel, Kabai el, and Kochab are variants of the name of this Fallen Angel. Astrology is the study of the planets, stars and their movements which have a perceived influence over the living world. His name means “Star of El”. In a Book of Enoch commentary by Matthew Black, Kokab’el may be connected to the Isaiah 14.13 angel, “Lucifer Son of the Morning”. To maintain consistency, the Lucifer archetype would be considered the “whole” of the Watchers, with elements of each beginning with Azazel and Semyaza with the most considerable traits and origins.
In 1st Century A.D. demonology in the Ancient Near East, Fallen Angels (as with the example of the Testament of Solomon naturally equates Fallen Angels as Demons as well as the Giants/Nephilim) can reside in constellations and are associated with Stars. Kokabiel inspires the Forbidden Knowledge and balance between the Illumination of the Black Flame found from the Higher Faculties (articulated consciousness, wisdom, angels) and the Demonic (earthly desire, primal instincts).
The Aramaic spelling is לאבכוכ. Kokabiel is represented
as a Macedonian-Syrian Hellenistic Basileus (king) who as Lucifer is the guiding star bringing forth dawn. His authority leads the symbolic phalanx of Argyraspides (an elite military unit of the Seleucids, “silver shields”) towards conquering and settling new lands. Kokabiel wields the lightning bolt of daimonic inspiration and the forbidden knowledge of the planets and stars.
Invoke Kokabiel in focus of establishing your will and orderlydesign to conquering new obstacles and journeys in life. The Sigil of Kokabiel
TAMIEL, KASAYDEΤαμιήλ Fallen Angel Who Astronomy and Smiting Enemies
Tamm’el, Tamiel’s etymology generally translates ‘Perfection of El’, ‘Angel of the Deep’ and is also known as Kasdaye and Kasdeja, from the Aramaic wordיָדּ ְשַׂכּ, kaśdāy,
Chaldean meaning "inhabitant of Chaldea", "astrologer". In Chapter 69 of Book of Enoch, a beautifully inspiring association to the Left-Hand Path is suggested: Kasyade (compound of
הָסָכּ kasah—"to conceal" and דָי yad—"hand", "power"; literally
"covered hand", "hidden power". Astronomy is the science of the study of space, celestial objects and the universe.
The Aramaic spelling of Tamiel isלאימות.
In Enoch Chapter 69, Tamiel is associated with instructing "the children of men all of the wicked strikes of spirits, [the strikes of] demons, and the strikes of the embryo in the womb so that it may pass away (abortion), and (the strikes of the soul), the bites of the serpent, and the strikes which befall through the noontide heat.”

ASBEELΑσβεελ, KASBIEL Κασβιελ Fallen Angel Who Imparted Council to the Angels to Illuminate Humanity
Asbeel, Kasbiel, Kaspiel are variants of this illustrious Watcher. The name Kasbiel is derived from the word for sorcery. Kasbiel is “the chief of the oath.” Asbeel is a powerful symbol representing the Left-Hand Path. Asbeel is one of the architects of offering the gift of consciousness, forbidden knowledge as the Black Flame and along with his fellow Watchers, devising the Black Alchemy of Union with Spirit and Flesh.
The Hebrew spellingבזע azab, "to abandon” as well with לא el "power", "divinity".
This translates basically “Deserter of God (El)”. The power Asbeel represents is the self-determination to forge a path your own, against the monotheistic slave-religions that so dominate society. Inner-strength and Will-power are two traits inherent in the energies of the Fallen Angel Asbeel. He is the 2nd of 5 satans (literally ‘enemies’) who introduced the descent and copulation with human women to the Grigori. The path of Luciferianism will bring tests, struggle and challenges of which you must overcome. Focus and identify with Asbeel as a model for isolation and the strong, rebellious power which detests servitude and submission.

RAMIEL ‘Ραμιήλ
Fallen Angel Who Teaches the Secrets of the Volcanic Fires and Storms of Earth
Râmîêl, Ram’el, Ramt’el are various spellings of his name. Ramiel means “Thunder of El” and Ramt’el translates “Burning Ashes of El”, associated with volcanic activity of the earth’s crust. Ramiel is similar in nature to the chaos-bringing Typhon of Greek myths, storms bring both disorder and destruction which clear the way for regeneration. Fire destroys and creates depending upon how it is employed.
The Black Flame is a symbol of Apotheosis and the fires of Azazel’s Forge are that in which by struggle, strife and discipline the Adept may become in union with the Daemon. The volcanic fire beneath the earth’s crust is symbolic not only of the subterranean and molten core which destroys and brings fertility; it also represents the core of the Adept who illuminates his or her Black Flame. From the burning depths of the earth can great weapons and tools of man be forged and shaped to our desire. The sigil and talisman of Ramiel utilizes the elemental symbol of Fire and Sulphur, that which represents the blazing violence of the subterranean volcanic furnace of destruction and creation.
The Aramaic spelling of Ramiel is לנאמער and the Hebrew spelling is לאימער.
The Sigil of Ramiel
EZEQEEL, CHAZAQIELΕζεκιήλ Fallen Angel Who Teaches Knowledge of the Clouds, Meteorology and the Element of Air
Ziq’el, Êzêqêêl and Chazaqiel are also spellin
gs of his name.
The Aramaic spelling of Ezeqeel is לאיקיז. Ziq’el teaches
the auguries of fire-balls (shooting stars, meteors) and the coming forth of a deity to the earth. Often, shooting stars were good omens and have deep associations with the temple cults in the area in which they fell to earth. For the modern Luciferian, the “fire-balls” if viewed in the night sky represent the Watchers descending as stars to impart forbidden knowledge to earth.
Ezeqeel means ‘Cloud of El’ and Ziq’el translates “Fire-ball of El” and “Shooting star of El”, related to ‘lightning flashes, comets, fire-balls’ and is associated with meteors and lightning. The element of Air is associated with Ezeqeel and on this level, is astral projection, riding upon the air or wind. This Watcher also inspires the observation of earthly weather and all that such encompasses. Other Deific Masks associated with Ezeqeel are Zeus, Baal-Hadad, Adad, etc.
Like Baraqiel, Ezeqeel bestows the initiatory Fulgur Summanum, the Nocturnal Lightning Bolt which is the inspiration and conscious knowledge of your Daemon. This is the omen-bearing flash which expands insight of dreams and the Gnosis of imagination within the rapture of ritual. Ezeqeel as the Watcher representing a shooting-star or ‘fire-ball’ in the imagination is the Celestial Order in which the Fallen Angelic host still possesses authority in. Ezeqeel most consistently holds dream and ritual meditation the symbolic epiphany of an angel with a blazing aura and a terrifying fire in his eyes.
