Everly’s mind finally caught up to her body. She needed to touch Luc. She wanted to feel all of that hard flesh in her hand. She ripped at his belt and unfastened his slacks. Her hand dove into his boxers and found her prize. A solid length of pulsing cock, ready for her pleasure. She pulled up and down his length, getting a feel for his size and girth.

Luc lifted her into his arms and set her ass on the table a few steps over from where they’d been leaning against the wall. She looked down to find her breasts had been freed. The top of her dress was unbuttoned, and her tight, rose-colored nipples ached for contact. Luc was enjoying the view as well. Her dress was hiked up to her hips, and her panties were destroyed on the floor a few steps away. Her naked pussy glistened in the light from the fixture over their heads.

Luc’s nostrils flared. He was frozen there just taking her in, and she felt a moment’s embarrassment. He was a stranger, and he was looking at all of her hidden treasures. His eyes finally came up to meet Everly’s. His lips were parted, and his breaths were ragged.

“Will you let me in, Everly? Can I fuck you? I need to fuck you.” He was asking for permission. She was happy to give him whatever he wanted in that moment.

“I need you, too, Luc. Please. Yes.”

Luc released a relieved sigh and moved into position between her legs, forcing her to release his cock. Everly’s shoulders rested against the wall. Her knees were hooked over Luc’s elbows. She admired the fat crown of his cock as it pushed into her pussy. Fuck, it was so good. They both watched, mesmerized, as his length disappeared into her body. He retreated and returned gradually until he was fully embedded. Everly clutched helplessly at his biceps while her inner muscles fluttered. She was already close to orgasm and completely at Luc’s mercy. She couldn’t move at all in that position. She could only take what he gave her. Luc’s long, dragging thrusts drove her higher and higher. He watched himself fucking her. He watched her breasts sway with his movements. He observed in fascination as she came around his cock so hard Everly thought she might pass out.

“I’m going to fuck you now,” he told her.

Hadn’t he been doing that already?

Luc grabbed her hips and held her steady for his assault. He did fuck her then. His cock filled her so deep and so forcefully that she couldn’t find the breath to moan. He fucked her like a man obsessed. His expression was so focused. A bead of sweat ran down his face and dripped onto her belly. She came again and Luc seemed to lose all control. With one hand holding her hip and the other gripping her ponytail, he pulled her face up to his mouth and kissed her as deeply as he was fucking her. He drove home one last time and shouted his release. The pulsing of his cock inside her triggered another orgasm for Everly.

She perched there, helpless and wrung out. Luc looked down at her like he’d just realized who she was. He pulled out of her body and carefully helped her stand. She was useless. Her legs wanted to give out. Her brain had already done so. Luc retrieved her ruined panties and guided her back to the suite. He used his card to let them in and took her straight to her bed where he stripped her down and put her into bed. She’d begun to doze off when hot hands and a warm cloth tidied up the wetness between her thighs. Damn, she’d never felt so exhausted. She hadn’t even cleaned herself up. She was tucked in and the light went out.

  “Get some sleep, Everly.”

She opened one eye just as he exited her room. So much for a cuddle after sex. But she wasn’t there to be cuddled, was she? Everly rolled over and tried not to regret what had just happened or feel dirty because of it.

For the brief time she was in Luc’s arms, she’d forgotten who he was and why she was there. He was just a gorgeous man who wanted her as much she wanted him. It didn’t feel dirty at all. She hadn’t felt like a whore working off a debt. At least she hadn’t until he walked away with a look of disgust on his perfect face.

  * * *

Luc was so fucking disgusted with himself. He was the king of self-control. Nothing ever moved him. One look into those stormy, grey-green eyes, and he’d been all over Everly. He slammed his fist down on the table. He was nothing like his father. This didn’t mean anything. He’d tried to avoid Everly. He hadn’t actually wanted to wager with her. She was supposed to tell him to fuck off and go home. Not Everly. No, she had to call his bluff and cost him what little soul he had left.

Why hadn’t he just sent her away the day she arrived like a Fury out for vengeance? He had no reason to even listen to her. Only the fact that she’d been stomping around outside making patrons nervous had gotten her a moment of his time. It was the way she’d challenged him. That’s what it was. She’d all but called him a pussy. And that was after calling him an evil bastard. So he showed her how depraved he could be and this is what it got him. This was karma or some such shit like that.

Why did she have to be standing there when he stepped off the elevator? He’d left his suite early and returned well after he expected her to be asleep. He didn’t even want to see her in the hall between their suites. That way she wouldn’t see him and fear he’d be coming to claim his winnings. Not seeing her made it easier for him to ignore the devil on his shoulder whispering that she was his for the taking. To the victor go the spoils.

Luc paced the floor of his entry hall not sure if he wanted to go take a shower to get the seductive scent of Everly off of him, go down to the chapel and grovel on his knees, or go back to her suite and fuck her again. He knew which one he wanted to do but it wasn’t happening. He wouldn’t go there again.

She was there for a month. A whole month, and he knew he wouldn’t be able to avoid her for that long, especially since she was staying in the guest penthouse suite, but he’d believed himself strong enough to pass her in the hall without fucking her against a wall. Her temporary home was just yards down the hall and past the elevator. Close enough to visit as often as he liked without anyone else knowing, the devil on his shoulder reminded him.

“Fuck!” he cursed and glared at his reflection in the mirror over his entry table.

“Bad night?” Dolce’s voice interrupted his self-recriminations.

He spun around. She stood in his doorway with a stack of paperwork in her arms and a concerned look on her lovely face. She always brought up the day’s receipts before she headed home. If she’d come fifteen minutes earlier, she’d have gotten a hell of a show.

“Yes. No. Fuck, I don’t know!”

She raised an eyebrow. He walked into the living room and shucked off his jacket. He tossed it over the arm of the sofa and went to look out at the Vegas night lights. Christ, he had to get the smell of Everly off of him or he’d be back in her bed, and this time he wouldn’t leave. He focused on the city below. Luc rarely noticed the view anymore. He wondered briefly if Everly enjoyed the view from her rooms.

“Do you want to talk about it?” Dolce set the stack of papers on the dining table. She knew he would review them over breakfast and a pot of coffee in the morning.

“No. I just shouldn’t have put Everly on this floor.”

“Shall I move her down to the third floor for you?”

  “No!” he answered too quickly.

Dolce’s eyebrow made another reach for her hairline. She knew him too well. She’d know why he wanted Everly close to him and not on the third floor. Damn it.

The third floor of the hotel was an employee floor for those who found themselves temporarily displaced. It happened when big-eyed dreamers who’d come to Vegas chasing dreams woke up to a nightmare. It started with one room and then another. Before he knew it, the whole floor was a halfway house. They didn’t have maid service or room service, but they had a roof and a bed. It was coed, and many of the residents enjoyed each other’s company. He didn’t want delicious, tempting, and sexy-to-her-toes Everly down there with the randy bouncers and smooth croupiers.

“I take it you’ve been to visit her?” Dolce asked quietly. There was a hint of censor in her tone.

  She knew his parent
age was a black mark he’d never live down. She knew why he wanted to avoid Everly, too. But had he really wanted to avoid her? Why else would he have put her so close if he never planned to make good on the wager? Maybe he was a little more like his father than he’d realized.

“You’re nothing like him, Luc.” She patted him on the back. She knew exactly what he was thinking. Damn her. “I’m going home. Let me know if you want her moved. We can always put her in a regular room.”

Dolce stepped into the hall and pulled the door shut behind her.

Luc stripped on his way to the shower. He turned on the hot waterfall and tried to let the last half hour be washed down the drain. It wouldn’t happen again. He wouldn’t do it. He was still suspicious of her motives for accepting the wager. He’d remind himself of that the next time he saw her looking edible and lonely.

Luc told himself he didn’t need to see those full breasts swaying as he pumped into her tight, silken pussy. He would forget how her inner muscles had rippled almost constantly making him struggle for control. He’d forget how the fit of their bodies grew snugger and snugger, nearly strangling his dick until she exploded around him. She’d clamped down on Luc so forcefully he thought he saw stars. So what if he could fuck her raw? He’d never done it before. He wouldn’t miss the intensely sensual feel of naked flesh on flesh.

Fuck! His dick was hard just remembering how fast she’d had him ready to beg. It was like a chemical fucking reaction when he touched her for the first time. The smooth skin of her arms under his fingers and light clean smell of her had gone straight to his dick. He took the unruly bastard in hand and began to stroke himself. He’d never get any sleep like that and he wouldn’t be going back to Everly’s room. Ever again.

  SEVEN

Everly drummed her fingers on the bar at Dante’s, a restaurant in The Inferno. She sipped at her Long Island ice tea and tried to make sense of her muddled emotions. She’d been so conflicted after being literally screwed to the wall by Luc. They had chemistry like nothing she’d ever experienced. It was nearly explosive. She didn’t want to be attracted to the man. She didn’t want to feel disappointed when he didn’t stay with her, but she was.

After two days of waiting in her rooms and peeking out the door every time she thought she heard a noise in the hall like a creepy stalker, she decided to get out for a while. She should feel relieved that he was leaving her be, but the memory of their encounter haunted her constantly. He’d gotten his fill and walked away leaving her feeling dirty and used. So why was she annoyed that he hadn’t come back?

“You look nice,” a female voice said to her back.

Everly turned on her stool to find Dolce standing behind her holding a glass of wine.

“Hello,” Everly smiled up at the gorgeously tall brunette. Dolce was like Wonder Woman, a breathtaking Amazonian, only prettier. “It’s good to see you. Are you having dinner?”

“Yes, I’m waiting for a date.” She winked mischievously.

“I can’t wait to meet the man who wrestled a date out of you!” Everly laughed. “He’s got to be a dream.”

What kind of man would it take to attract a woman who could have anyone she crooked a finger at? Everly was terribly curious.

“Well if he doesn’t show soon he’ll miss his chance. I’ve been at the other end of the bar waiting for the last twenty minutes.” She wrinkled her nose dramatically. “Can you believe he’s keeping me waiting? That’s my job!” They both laughed.

“Have a seat. I’ll keep you company.” Everly gestured to the empty seat next to her. Dolce settled on the stool and waved to the bartender. She polished off her glass of wine and ordered another.

“Are you meeting Luc?” Dolce asked.

Everly knew Dolce was uncomfortable with the arrangement between her and Luc. She was worried about how it would affect both of them.

“No. I’ve only seen him once and that was . . . over and done quickly. It’s been a couple of days.”

Dolce was looking at her intently. She knew why Luc would have come to see her. Not that he’d actually wanted to see her judging by what he said at the time. Everly blushed. She didn’t want to feel dirty about it. How could you feel like a whore and then be hurt when it didn’t happen again? She made no sense at all.

“Oh, I just thought since you look so lovely and I haven’t seen you out that you might have a date.”

“A date? Come on now. Let’s not pretend that he might actually like me, Dolce.” Everly’s blush deepened. “He fucked me in the hall and then he was gone. I don’t think he’s going to bother romancing a woman he can fuck on command. Not that he seems interested in a repeat performance.”

Dolce’s mouth fell open. “He fucked you in the hall?” She looked flabbergasted.

Everly nodded and took a huge gulp of her drink. “We kind of . . . ran into each other.”

Dolce fought a grin and lost. “I see.” She cleared her throat and straightened her face. “I’m not a gambler Everly, but I’d put good money on a ‘repeat performance,’ as you put it.”

What? Did Dolce know something Everly didn’t? There were probably many things Dolce could tell her about Luc. She wanted to ask a thousand questions, but she didn’t want to sound like an eager groupie. She could just imagine a man like Luc, gorgeous, wealthy, and unattached, would have followers.

It was quiet for a bit while Dolce swished the deep, red wine around in her glass, and Everly tried to get her priorities back in order. She sounded like a rejected girlfriend. She wasn’t Luc’s girlfriend. One sexual experience does not make a relationship.

That was Everly’s problem, right there. She’d never had sex outside of a relationship. Like most women, for Everly, sex was an emotional, as well as a physical, attachment. Add to that the chemistry between her and Luc, and she was a mess. She didn’t know how she was going to get through the next twenty-seven days.

“Are you going out? Maybe you should hit another casino or a few clubs. Don’t let that sexy dress go to waste,” Dolce deftly changed the subject.

Everly looked down at her frilly, lilac baby doll dress and sky high heels. She did look cute. The short dress made her legs look far longer than they actually were. She’d brought all of the cute clothes in her closet she never had a chance to wear at home unless she went out with the girls in the city. Everly did a lot of online shopping, but ranch life didn’t give her the opportunity to get gussied up often.

“You think it’s cute?” she asked a bit shyly. She reluctantly admitted to herself that she’d gotten dressed in hopes she might run into Luc. She wasn’t sure why she wanted to look pretty for him.

“You’re gorgeous! Are you kidding?” Dolce looked her over with a smile. “Girl, every man in here is watching you.” She looked past Everly and scanned the room.

“What?” Everly looked into the mirror behind the bar, not wanting to actually turn and look around. There were several men watching her and Dolce. Her chest puffed up a bit. She was attractive. She didn’t need some too sexy casino owner to want her. She could find a date. Luc didn’t own her.

Dolce was giggling behind her hand. It was such a girly sound coming from such a sophisticated woman. Everly covered her own mouth and laughed. She really enjoyed Dolce’s company.

“What have we here?” A man stepped up behind Dolce and placed a hand on her shoulder. “You got started without me?” Dolce turned and smiled up at the ginger haired stranger.

“Someone had to keep me company.” She quirked an eyebrow and looked at her watch. “You’re forty minutes late, Seth.”

Seth wasn’t what Everly had expected Dolce’s date to look like. She didn’t know why she expected a big muscular man to accompany Dolce. This man was tall, for sure, but he was whipcord lean in his sharp suit. He was handsome in a Prince Harry sort of way.

“I’m sorry, my dear. My meeting ran over. I promise to make it up to you.”

Something flashed in Dolce’s eyes and Everly knew she was looking for
ward to Seth fulfilling the promise. She looked back to Everly as she got to her feet.

“Don’t let that man ruin your evening. You’re dressed. You’re out. Go have some fun while you’re in Vegas. Want to have lunch tomorrow? We can get out for a bit before my shift starts.” Dolce was right. There was no reason for her to be moping around. None at all.

  “That sounds great.”

“Good. I’ll meet you out front at one o’clock.” Seth took Dolce’s hand.

“I’ll see you then. Have a good evening,” she told the couple as they strolled away holding hands.

Everly didn’t miss the disappointed looks on the faces of several men who’d had their eyes on Dolce. While she finished her drink, Everly decided to hit the Strip. She’d just have a few drinks and maybe do some dancing. Dancing would help her burn off some of her nervous energy.

She was on the way to the door when a couple of men ducked down a narrow hall. She looked curiously after them. One of the men ran a card that was similar to her door key along a box by an elevator. There was nothing down there but that elevator. They laughed and looked in very good spirits as they entered the elevator and the doors slid shut behind them. It had to be a private elevator, like the one Luc and the security staff used. But where would it go. This part of the casino wasn’t attached to the hotel.

Hell. That was the member’s elevator to Hell. Everly had seen a guarded elevator when she was in the pit. She opened her little clutch purse and eyed the white card that opened the private elevator to her suite and she wondered if she had access to Hell. Everly looked both ways up and down the corridor like a child afraid of being caught before she ducked down the hall. She pulled the card from her purse and tapped the call box. To her surprise, it worked. The doors slid open and she stepped inside. This would be interesting. Everly had only been in the pit for a short time when she played Luc. Maybe she could find someone willing to teach her to play poker. Or she could play pool in one of the clubs she passed through with Rourke. She was good at pool.
