I might as well pick up my last paycheck and cardboard box.

Once parked, he sat inside his SUV until he built up his courage. Jackson took a deep breath and strode into the large glass and metal building located in downtown. Dressed in a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, he stuck out like a sore thumb. Instead of getting on the elevator, Jackson headed straight for the reception desk.

“Good morning, how can I help you?” an overly chipper woman with short blonde hair and a fake smile asked.

“I’m Jackson Murphy. I was hoping to see someone in Human Resources.”

“Sure, one moment.” She picked up the phone and Jackson stepped away from the desk, looking around the lobby.

He’d never paid attention to the welcoming area as he rushed to the elevators and went to work each morning. Looking around now, he felt out of place and uncomfortable. Jackson stared out the large picture windows and watched the traffic. After a few minutes, Jackson was ready to leave. They can just mail the damn check.

“Jackson Murphy?” He turned and saw one of the owners walking toward him wearing a very expensive-looking suit.

  “Yes, sir,” he murmured.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you. We weren’t expecting you to come back from your vacation, but it’s good to see you. I’m James Baxter.” He held out his hand and Jackson took it, even though he was completely confused. It didn’t seem like the man was going to toss him out on his ass.

“I’m not…I’m sorry, I’m confused. I was told that my cubicle was being packed up. I only came here to pick up my last paycheck before I move to Colorado.”

“Move to Colorado? Last paycheck?” He shook his head. “I had my assistant move your things into the new corner office. Your proposal won. We were waiting for you to return so that we could start the project.”

Jackson stood dumbfounded, his mouth wide open in shock. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. His project won. His things were already settled in the new corner office with the giant windows. He got the raise and promotion.

Oh, my God. My project won. My design will be the new museum.

The only thing on his mind was Wyatt. He wanted to share the news. Pulling his cell phone out of his pocket, he stared at the screen for a minute.

“Let me show you to your new office, Mr. Murphy. We have some papers to sign and then, we’re going to start building.” He smiled, silently encouraging Jackson to follow him to the elevators.

There were so many thoughts running through his mind. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. His dream of building an amazing work of art that would outlive him and stand the test of time. He would finally be able to leave his mark, right here, right now.

At this moment, he could see his road splitting in two. One path led him to the dream he’d always wanted and the other led him to Colorado and the man he loved.

Jackson held out his hand and Mr. Baxter grinned widely at him, taking his hand in a tight shake.

“I’m sorry, sir. I’ve already made another commitment in Colorado. I only came here to pick up my last check. I’m sorry for the confusion. If you want to use my project, I’m more than happy to give the go-ahead and take the bonus.”

“If that’s what you want.” He shrugged, looking at Jackson as if he was crazy to pass up the opportunity.

Jackson couldn’t deny it. He was crazy in love with Wyatt.

  Fourteen hours later…

Jackson arrived at the ranch in the early morning hours.

He was so tired that he was having trouble keeping his eyes open. Along the way, he’d almost fallen asleep, but somehow arrived on time. He’d only stopped to fuel up and use the restroom. Otherwise, he’d kept going. Trent only gave him a couple of days to settle everything in LA and although it was tough, he’d managed. The only thing that kept him going was knowing he’d be sleeping next to Wyatt. He’d missed his cowboy.

Pulling the car to a stop in front of the small cabin, Jackson shut the engine off and climbed out of his vehicle. He left all his belongings inside the SUV, and swayed as he walked straight into Wyatt’s home.

He closed the front door and strode straight for the bedroom. When he reached the side of the bed, he stared at his man—curled around one of the pillows, sleeping soundly. Jackson took off his clothing and slid into bed, his head hit the pillow, and his eyes closed instantly. With the last of his strength, he wrapped an arm around Wyatt’s waist.

Wyatt woke up warm and comfortable. Stretching out, he leaned back into a naked body and immediately sat straight up. He moved fast, practically falling on his face as he jumped out of bed. Who the fuck is in my bed? He scrambled up off the floor, his heart pounding rapidly in his chest.

“Hey, are you okay?” Jackson asked, concern lacing his words.

It took Wyatt almost a full thirty seconds to realize that Jackson was in his bed. His body visibly relaxed as a slow smile spread across his lips.

“When did you get in?” Wyatt got back in bed, pulling the comforter over them both.

“Really late last night.” He yawned and stretched out before moving closer to Wyatt. “Or I should say, early this morning. I’m still so tired.”

“Why didn’t you stop along the way?” Wyatt couldn’t understand why Jackson had pushed himself so hard to rush back, but he was glad that his man was back in his bed.

“Trent said I had a couple of days. I didn’t want to risk being late.” Jackson closed his eyes and laid his head on Wyatt’s chest. He wrapped his arms around him and kissed the top of his head.

Wyatt rubbed Jackson’s back in slow, comforting circles, lulling him back to sleep. “Honey, I don’t think he literally meant two days to pack up your life and move here.”

“I didn’t want to chance it.” He yawned once more and wiggled his body closer so that he was lying flat against Wyatt’s chest. “He’s the executor and he said a couple of days.”

“I’m so glad that you’re here. Close your eyes and go back to sleep, lover.”

“I don’t think I can with your hard cock poking me.” Jackson moved his hips, slowly humping Wyatt’s leg.

“Mmmm…I can’t help it. Having you this close makes my cock hard.”

“I’m not complaining. Are you going to do something about it before I fall asleep?” Jackson challenged.

Wyatt quickly reversed their positions, flipping Jackson underneath him. Leaning down, he whispered a kiss across Jackson’s soft lips. “I love you.”

“I love you, too,” Jackson said as he opened his mouth for Wyatt’s tongue.

The kiss started slow, but became savage. It seemed that neither of them wanted to wait any longer. The short separation had been difficult for Wyatt. When Jackson walked into the terminal, he knew that the man would be important in his life. Reaching blindly, he grabbed the drawer handle and pulled it open, grabbing a condom and the small bottle of lubricant.

Jackson pulled up his legs, exposing his ass, and Wyatt leaned back to get a better view. He ripped the package open and rolled the condom down his hard shaft before clicking the bottle open with the flick of his finger. He poured a generous amount on his hand before stroking his dick. With the extra amount on his fingers, he rubbed the slick fluid on Jackson’s hole. Leaning back down, he rubbed his chest against Jackson’s and took possession of his lips once more.

Wyatt held the base of his cock with one hand as he slowly worked his cock past the ring of muscles. Jackson arched his back and his ass sucked Wyatt’s cock right in. “Oh, God.” He groaned. “Your ass feels incredible, baby. Fuck!”

Jackson’s ass squeezed his cock tight and Wyatt panted, trying to make it last a little longer before shooting deep inside his man. Taking a deep breath, Wyatt pushed slowly in to the hilt. Closing his eyes, he rested his forehead against Jackson’s. “Home,” he whispered. “You feel like home, lover.”

“I love you,” Jackson murmured, running his fingers through his hair. “Now, move. I want you to f
uck me.”

With a quick kiss, Wyatt wrapped his arms around Jackson’s thighs and spread him even further. He looked down as he moved in and out of Jackson’s body in a slow rhythm. “Damn, I like watching my cock slide in and out of you.”

Jackson leaned up a little and looked down at their joined bodies. “Fuck, you’re right, that’s hot.”

Wyatt picked up his pace and swiveled his hips, pegging Jackson’s prostate on each stroke. Jackson started making loud, sexy sounds, which spurred him on.

“I’m not gonna last long.” He thrust even harder, his balls slapping Jackson’s ass.

Jackson fell back down onto the bed, holding his knees. “I’m so close…” He panted.

“Come for me, baby,” Wyatt said, and Jackson grabbed his erection and started stroking himself to Wyatt’s pounding rhythm.

“Oh, fuck! Coming…” The sight of Jackson’s cum spurting from his cock was beautiful, sending Wyatt over the edge.

His entire body shook at the force of his climax. “Jackson,” he yelled to the ceiling.

Wyatt fell forward and wrapped his arms around Jackson. Without losing contact, Wyatt rolled them both onto their sides so that he wouldn’t crush Jackson with his weight. He felt his cock slowly start to soften, and knew they wouldn’t be joined for much longer.

“I love you,” Wyatt told him. “I’m so glad that you’re back. I missed you so damn much.”

Jackson smiled before leaning in and kissing him, rolling their tongues together in an erotic slow dance. “I love you more.”

Wyatt watched as Jackson’s eyes closed and his muscles relaxed. When he started to snore softly, Wyatt pulled back and carefully removed his condom. Sliding out of bed, he quickly disposed of the latex and cleaned himself up. He climbed back into bed with Jackson and pulled him into his arms.

Closing his eyes, Wyatt took a deep breath and inhaled his lover’s unique scent. He smiled as he fell asleep with thoughts of Jackson playing through his mind.

The future had never looked so perfect and he was looking forward to spending the rest of his life with Jackson.

  Prologue

Robbie Robertson stared down at the pile of bills and groaned. Past Due. Final Notice. Service Termination. Notice to Vacate. He didn’t know anything about business. It was now blatantly obvious. His only dream was to run his own business and now that dream would be over. When his mom died five years ago, he’d had enough money to finally do something to make her proud. Opening a small motorcycle shop was a pipe dream that turned into a reality. And now, he was drowning. The bills were piling up and each month, he was falling further behind.

Pushing himself back from his small desk, Robbie ignored the paperwork and went to his shop. It didn’t really matter, his time was running out, and he couldn’t pay. He might as well finish the jobs he had. Shutting the door to the office behind him, he strode into the garage. He loved this place. Working for himself, making his own hours, and doing something he enjoyed made life worth living. He had no idea what the future held, not anymore.

Kneeling next to one of the bikes he was working on, Robbie got lost in what he was doing. He liked being a mechanic. It was one of the only things he excelled at. He’d never been good with numbers and he barely received his high school diploma. Where would he go after this place was closed down? Exhaling loudly, he tried not to let his mind wander toward negative thoughts.

“Excuse me…are you Mr. Robbie Robertson?” a male voice asked, and Robbie stood up.

He grinned at the older man. “I’m not sure if I’d consider myself a mister, but I am Robbie. How can I help you?”

“My name is Thomas Creed and I’m a private investigator. I was hired by William Rickett to track you down. Here…” He held out a large manila envelope and Robbie reluctantly took it. “The information in there is time sensitive.” He tilted his head and Robbie’s brow furrowed in confusion. “I hope you have a nice day.”

The man turned on his heel and left Robbie standing inside his garage. He had no idea who the P.I. was, or William Rickett, the man searching for him. He looked at the envelope and shrugged. What the hell. Lifting the small metal teeth, Robbie opened the envelope. He scanned the documents and frowned. Why is there a copy of my birth certificate? Grabbing a stool, he took a seat and started reading.

  I have a dad.

Robbie swallowed the lump in his throat, shaking his head. He couldn’t believe that after all these years someone was claiming to be his father. There was a plane ticket and cash. It seemed that his father was a very sick man and wanted to meet him before it was too late.

Could he really leave the garage right now? His whole life was falling apart around him. It was only a matter of time before he would be closing and locking the doors for good.

The garage would probably be transformed into some fancy shopping mall or coffee shop. Everything was changing, out with the old and in with the new. Placing the papers on his workbench, Robbie went back to work. He couldn’t think about this, not yet.

Later that night, after closing up the shop, Robbie climbed the stairs leading to the small storage space he used as an apartment. He spread the paperwork on the card table before stripping off his clothes. He used the portable shower to clean his body and wash his hair. As the lukewarm water sprayed down on him, Robbie realized that his life in Nevada was over. It was time to move on.

It would only take a couple of days to pack and clear out. He could load his tools, clothes, and motorcycle into the back of his truck and drive to the ranch in Colorado. He didn’t have anyone important in his life holding him back. It was depressing. He’d been single for so long that he was beginning to worry that his dick might not work.

Shutting off the water, Robbie got out of his mini-shower and grabbed a towel. He quickly dried off and pulled on a pair of sweat pants and T-shirt. He strode over to the card table, pulled out a folding chair, and sat down. He looked through the papers once more, and questions started forming inside his mind. What would his dad think of him? Would he be disappointed? Would he welcome him inside his home?

William Rickett had given him a plane ticket and cash. With the money, he could drive there with all his belongings. Maybe Colorado wouldn’t be a bad place to start over. He didn’t know much about the Telluride area, but he was sure there had to be a mechanic shop somewhere. It might be better to close down the shop on his own before someone came in and kicked him out.

Exhaling loudly, Robbie went to the small fridge and grabbed a beer. He popped the cap and turned up the bottle, guzzling down the contents.

  * * * *

  Two Days Later…

Robbie pulled off the main street and onto a dirt road. It was dark and he was tired after spending the whole day behind the wheel of his truck. When a large ranch-style home came into view, Robbie started feeling a little less confident.

The whole drive he’d had visions of meeting his father. He didn’t know what to say or even how he felt about the whole situation. He’d lost his mom and now he was going to lose his dad. Could he watch another parent wither away and die?

Pulling to a stop in front of the large home, he shut the engine off. It was pitch black out except for a small lamp by the front door. He took a deep breath, trying to build up his courage. When the front door opened, he finally stepped out of the truck.

Another set of footsteps caught his attention and Robbie looked over and saw a man wearing a cowboy hat walking his way. With the dark night and tired eyes, he couldn’t make out what they looked like very clearly.

“Hi, I’m Jackson Murphy and this is Cody White.” Jackson tilted his head toward the cowboy and was momentarily stunned silent.

Cody had dark, thick brown hair, shorter on the sides and longer on top. His face was perfectly symmetrical with high cheekbones and a perfect little nose. His lips were full and tempting—begging to be nibbled on. As he stared at the man, he noticed his brown eyes sparkle with interest.

“Can we help you?” Jackson asked.

“Yeah.” Leaning into his truck, he grabbed the manila envelope off the bench seat. “I’m Robbie Robertson, I was invited.”

“It’s nice to meet you.” Cody—the man wearing a T-shirt, tight jeans, and a cowboy hat—stuck his hand out.

Robbie looked him over once more, checking out the entire package before shaking his hand. He was sexy as fuck—tight, muscular body, and Robbie wanted to investigate more of him.

“You’re one of William Rickett’s sons, right?” Cody asked and Robbie couldn’t help but chuckle. Of course, he wasn’t an only child.

“One of his sons, huh?” He raised a brow. “How many kids does the guy have?”

“Five. I just got here.” The other man—Jackson—stuck his hand out, smiling brightly, and Robbie shook it. “Why did you decide to drive instead of fly?”
