Becoming increasingly aroused as he watched Antonio stand at the kitchen counter to uncork the bottle, Kirby walked up behind him, placed his hands to either side of his hips and pressed his pelvis to Antonio’s ass so that he could feel Kirby’s bulging erection. “You’re looking mighty fine in those PJs,” Kirby said as he softly kissed the back of Antonio’s neck.

Antonio pushed himself back into Kirby. “Feels like somebody’s a little horny down there,” he said before trying to steady himself against Kirby’s grip. He did his best to concentrate on pouring the wine while being unable contain his own growing erection and excitement at the feel of Kirby’s hard-on pressed up against him. “Okaaay . . . hold your horses, big boy,” Antonio said playfully, attempting to push Kirby off him. But Kirby held on more tightly, wrapping his arms around him fully as he began to suck on Antonio’s neck while groaning deeply and hungrily.

“Looks like you came over for something more than a simple toast.”

Kirby snickered at the comment as he let Antonio go at which point Antonio picked up the two glasses of wine he’d just poured and turned to face Kirby holding one up for Kirby to take.

Noticing Antonio’s more than obvious erection poking stiffly against the soft, smooth fabric of his PJs, Kirby grinned. “And it looks like you’re ready put out for me,” he said, taking the glass with one hand while reaching to tease and stroke his mate’s boner with the other.

Antonio’s eyes glazed over at Kirby’s sensual touch of his member and then Kirby kissed his lips softly. Then he kissed him again, again, and again before stopping. “Cheers,” Kirby said, as he held up his glass to clink it with Antonio’s.

“Cheers,” Antonio said. “Here’s to your future as the producer of the next top rated sitcom on network television.”

Kirby chucked and smiled broadly. “I’ll definitely drink to that,” and then he kissed Antonio again, and this time with more intensity and zeal. Setting his wineglass on the counter, he then placed the palms of his hands on either side of Antonio’s face and kissed him hard, inserting his tongue into his mouth. Antonio slowly placed his wineglass down too, on the counter behind him, as he kept his mouth pressed insistently to Kirby’s, both basking in the taste and flavor of the red merlot on their tongues. And then he wrapped his arms around Kirby’s waist and lifted his hands up under his shirt to feel his smooth skin and to caress his hard, strong back.

“Grab your wine. Let’s get more comfortable on the sofa,” Kirby said as he picked up his glass and Antonio picked up his. Kirby placed his right hand firmly on Antonio’s butt cheek as they walked slowly over to the sofa together, while continuing to kiss, licking and pressing their tongues together fervidly.

Once they made it to the couch, they continued to kiss passionately while petting aggressively, rubbing and grabbing the other’s crotch. Kirby stopped to pull off his shirt, and then he unbuckled his belt and unzipped his pants. He lifted his hips to pull them, along with his boxers, down to his ankles before spreading his muscular thighs a little more widely and flexing them a bit. As he licked his lips and stared at Antonio, Kirby began to pleasure himself with both hands, enjoying Antonio’s eyes on him as he stroked, stretched, and slapped his large specimen around as if he didn’t give a fuck who watched.

Antonio’s eyes widened, full of desire as Kirby waved his cock at him as if it were a magic wand dictating a command. Seizing on the not so subtle invitation, Antonio bent down to lick it, up and down and all around, lubricating the long, hard shaft with his wet tongue before engulfing it with his hungry mouth.

“Aaah, fuck yeah. Aaah, fuck,” Kirby repeated as he leaned his head back and closed his eyes, enjoying the feel of a warm, wet mouth sucking him off. After a few minutes, Antonio stopped to pull off Kirby’s socks and shoes and then he completely removed off his pants as Kirby lifted his legs to assist. Having a fetish for big, athletic, masculine feet, Antonio lifted Kirby’s left foot to his nose to inhale it and then to lick the ball of his foot, before moving on to suck his big toe then returning to Kirby’s waiting cock. Meanwhile, Kirby just kicked back and took a couple of sips of his wine as Antonio continued to service him greedily.

Having the stamina of a bull, Kirby let Antonio suck him for a while before eventually taking Antonio to the bed where he plowed him long and hard, just the way they both liked it. Kirby fucked him ’til kingdom come missionary style, doggy style, standing, sitting, sideways, and every other kind of way until they were both spent.

After they were done and depleted, both felt satisfied and relieved. After a long buildup of sexual frustration and tension—having not had any action since Hawaii where Jake had put the clamp down on him yet again—Kirby finally got the release he felt he needed. Sure did beat wanking to Internet porn.

On the other hand, Antonio believed Kirby’s appearance potentially marked an opening in their relationship. After all, Kirby was on the cusp of something big in his life and he chose to be with him in that moment, Antonio surmised, and not with Jake. Not a good sign. They must’ve had a falling out, Antonio thought as he and Kirby lay next to each other quietly, recovering from their bang session.

  Chapter Fourteen

“Why don’t you stay the night?”

Kirby hesitated for a moment before answering. “I think I will. Not in the mood to be around Jake tonight anyway.”

“What’s going on with you two?”

  “Same ol’ same ol’.”

Not satisfied with that response, Antonio pressed. “I mean . . . are you guys together? With him not getting married and all, I thought you two would be together now, especially after running off to Hawaii and everything.”

“What do you mean by ‘together’?”

Antonio sighed. “You know what I mean. I know that you’re in love with him and that you prefer him over me.”

That’s true, Kirby thought but didn’t dare utter. “I’ve never said anything to you about wanting to be with Jake.”

“Oh, Kirby, come on. It’s been obvious all along. The way you talk about him and how you are always so willing to do things for him or with him at the drop of a hat . . . like going off to Hawaii. I mean that wasn’t exactly planned.”

“He’s my best friend, and he just went through a major breakup with his fiancée. Of course I’m going to support him and be there for him when he needs me.”

“Yeah, but you guys fuck around, just like we do. I’m sure you do with him more than with me, since you live together. Now that he’s called off his wedding, one would assume that you guys planned to be a thing now.”

“Well, don’t assume anything. And we’re not fucking around anymore.”

“Really? Since when?” Antonio asked skeptically.

“We stopped fooling around months ago,” Kirby lied, feeling protective of Jake in light of their recent clash over the issue.

“Months ago? How many months are we talking? It wasn’t that many months ago when the three of us were together at your bungalow.”

  “What?”

  “What do you mean, ‘what?’”

“Man, that wasn’t Jake. What are you talking about?”

  “That wasn’t Jake?”

“No! That dude I met on Grindr. I can’t even remember his name. You thought that was Jake?”

“That wasn’t Jake? Are you sure?”

“Am I sure? Hell yeah, I’m sure. That wasn’t Jake, man,” Kirby said, chuckling in amusement. “He was out of town that weekend.”

“But that guy was already over there when I showed up.”

“Dude! Jake was out of town that weekend. Otherwise, I wouldn’t’ve had you and that guy over.”

“That wasn’t Jake?” Antonio asked again quizzically, feeling alarmed about his mistaken identity of the guy he viewed as his principal rival for Kirby’s affection. “But he had blond hair like Jake, and he was really handsome, I recall.”

“Yeah . . . so, but I didn’t introduce him to you as Jake. Th
at’s for sure,” Kirby said with a chuckle. “How funny, you thought that was Jake all this time.”

“But I recall you said to come over for a threesome with Jake,” Antonio asserted, trying to cover his ass somehow.

Kirby snickered and shook his head. "No. That’s what you thought you heard, but that’s not what I said. You were a little buzzed that night anyway, so I’m not surprised that you confused that dude for Jake. That’s hilarious, but I hope you haven’t told that shit to anyone, man. Jake’s already paranoid enough about being outed,” Kirby said with a chuckle, as he stepped out of bed and walked into the bathroom without confirming whether or not this story of mistaken identity had been told to anyone else.

Antonio just sat quietly and stared straight ahead with a look of befuddlement on his face. “Shit!”

When Jake awoke the next morning to head to the office he discovered that Kirby hadn’t made it back home the night before. Jake noticed that his bedroom door was still cracked open, just as it had been when he’d come home from his meeting with Amanda, and then he looked out the front window, not seeing Kirby’s car parked in its usual spot. “Thank God. I really don’t want to deal with you right now.”

The night before, Jake had felt too depressed and heartbroken over his conversation with Amanda to confront Kirby about this guy Antonio, who, to his recollection, he’d never met nor heard of before. Having hardly been able to sleep before being forced out of bed by his alarm clock, Jake was now pissed and wanted to get to the bottom of the situation with Kirby and this alleged boyfriend. However, with a full schedule and long day ahead of him leading up to tomorrow’s closing of the big merger and acquisition deal he’d been tirelessly working on for months, Jake didn’t want to start off the morning with a heated and cantankerous exchange with Kirby about some mystery boyfriend who’d outed them. He didn’t have time for it. Although he knew that confrontation would come soon enough. “That’s the last fucking thing I need to think about or deal with right now,” Jake said aloud as he hurriedly washed up, dressed, and gulped down a bowl of cold cereal before darting out of the house to head downtown. But Jake wouldn’t be able to avoid Kirby for long.

By midday, Jake had received a series of texts from him.

Just want you to be the first to know. It’s official!!! The courier is on his way with the contract for us to sign. Woo hoo, baby!!

Tied down in meetings and buried in documents still being finalized for the big closing the next day, Jake didn’t see the text right away.

Kirby texted him again, Hope you’re not still mad about yesterday.

A few minutes later, a third text, I still love you, Kirby wrote with a series of hearts following, trying to be cute.

And then a fourth text, Everything cool?

An hour and a half after the last text had been sent, Jake took a break from what he’d been doing and finally saw them all.

AWESOME! CONGRATULATIONS!! he wrote back, but nothing more. In light of the revelation that word had gotten out about their secret relationship, Jake strongly believed that Kirby had lied to him and he felt too conflicted to be in a celebratory mood, notwithstanding the magnitude of Kirby’s accomplishment.

Thanks. Having a little get-together later with the guys. Are you in? Time and place TBD.

Can’t. Closing is tomorrow. Working late again tonight.

Aiight, Kirby texted back, feeling a little disappointed. But knowing how busy Jake had been lately, he didn’t protest or try to persuade him to change his plans.

We need to talk though, Jake wrote, wanting to put Kirby on notice that something was up without going into a lot of detail via text.

  K. See you when I get home, if you’re not already in bed asleep.

A part of Jake wanted to be with Kirby and their buddies to celebrate and toast Kirby’s milestone. Jake knew better than anyone how hard Kirby had worked since graduating from college to land something BIG. And this was it—a deal to co-produce his first TV pilot episode and he was only twenty-seven years old. It could lead to the network ordering a full series of episodes for its prime-time lineup of new shows and Kirby would be on his way.

As the day wound down and early evening approached, Jake slowly began to have a slight change of heart, feeling tempted to text Kirby or one of the guys he knew would likely be joining the group for the meet up. Perhaps he’d surprise them, he thought, and show up unexpectedly, if only he could find out where the gathering was taking place. But then Jake received a phone call that made him change his mind.

“Hey, Mom,” Jake said, seeing his mother’s name on his caller ID.

“Hi, honey. How’s your day going?”

“It’s been really busy. We have the big closing on that M&A deal tomorrow. I think we’ve killed off a forest or two with all of the paperwork that’s been generated around here.”

  “Finally?”

“Yes, finally. I swear, since I got back from Hawaii, I’ve worked past eight or nine o’clock nearly every night.”

“Oh, dear. Well, I know you’ll be glad when this is over.”

Jake chuckled. “Yeah, and then it will be on to the next one. Welcome to my life as a corporate lawyer.”

“At least you’re doing exactly what you wanted,” Jamie sang with a motherly, don’t complain melody.

“Yeah, but it’s puttin’ a dint in my social life at the moment. Kirby signed his first deal today to produce a pilot episode for a potential new TV series on the GTV Network.”

“Oh . . . how wonderful,” she said, sounding disingenuous.

“He and some friends of ours are hooking up tonight to celebrate. I was thinking about joining them, although I probably shouldn’t.”

“Well, um,” Jamie uttered, clearing her throat. “So I wanted to tell you something.” Jamie paused for effect.

  “What?”

“I spoke to Granny not too long ago. She attended a luncheon with a group of friends earlier today and one of them told her something very odd that I thought you should know.”

  “Oh? What?” Jake asked, curious.

“Ahem,” Jamie cleared her throat again. “Well, there appears to be a ridiculous rumor going around that you broke up with Amanda because you’re gay.”

Jake didn’t respond. He just sat quietly and listened to see what more his mother had to say.

“And, so, anyway, this lady is friends with Vangie Climent and that’s where she heard this, presumably. But it gets stranger because she told Granny that they, meaning the Climents, believe that you’re in some sort of relationship with Kirby. Well, she said your best friend. Didn’t know his name, Granny said, but she assumed her friend was speaking of Kirby.”

Jake continued to listen on the other end of the line, stunned and speechless. After an awkward silence Jamie directly asked, “Have you heard anything about this? Obviously it’s utterly ridiculous and not true, but I was wondering if you were aware of this in any way.”

Jake started to give a knee-jerk reaction and say that he wasn’t aware, but then he just blurted out, “Yes, I am aware. I spoke to Amanda yesterday actually, and she told me this.”

“You spoke with Amanda?” Jamie asked, shocked.

“I think it’s just a misunderstanding. That’s all. I’m still trying to get to the bottom of it and where the rumor came from.”

“What . . . did she tell you anything else?” Jamie asked, curious to know if Amanda had revealed her pregnancy to him. The last thing she’d heard from Rick was that they were trying to persuade her to abort.

  “What do you mean?”

“Just anything else about how she’s been doing. How she’s handling things. That’s all.”

“Other than that she hates my guts, never wants to speak to me again, and is moving on with her life—is there anything else to know?”

Jamie didn’t respond. What could she say?

No longer wanting to take part in this conversation Jake said, “Listen,
I gotta go. Need to get back to work.”

“Oh, okay. Want to come over for dinner Sunday night?” Jamie randomly asked, attempting to change the subject before ending the call on such an awkward and uncomfortable note.

“Yeah . . . sure. That sounds good. Okay, I gotta go, Mom. Talk to you later.”

  “Okay. Bye, bye, honey.”

“Bye,” Jake said, hanging up. He then placed his hands to his face and sighed deeply as he leaned back in his desk chair.

  Chapter Fifteen

It was just past midnight when Kirby walked through the front door and found Jake sitting in the leather armchair with a beer bottle in one hand, still dressed in his work clothes sans the suit coat and necktie.

“Hey, man,” Kirby said with a broad grin on his face, “I thought you’d be in bed already.”

“Nope, I stayed up just for you,” Jake said before taking the final sip of his beer as he eyed Kirby intently.

Kirby wanted to turn toward the kitchen to get a drink of water, but Jake’s stare and energy were so intensely focused on him that it stopped Kirby in his tracks and he couldn’t force himself to move or look away from Jake’s gaze. Something felt amiss, but before he could discern the root of his buddy’s ire, Jake made it plainly known.

“So tell me, who’s Antonio Villar?”

“He’s a guy I know,” Kirby said with a shrug.

“Oh, that’s it, huh? Just a guy you know?”

  “I mean . . . yeah, he’s a friend.”

“Is he more to you than just a friend?”

Becoming defensive, Kirby said, “We’re friends. Okay? What’s this about anyway?”

“I think you know what this is about.”

  “Sorry, but I don’t.”

  “Cut the bullshit, Kirby.”

“You said I know what this is about, and I—”

“Kirby! I asked you more than once if you’d ever told anyone about our relationship and what did you say?”
