“Can you feel that?” I whispered breathless into her mouth, and she gasped.

“You can feel me, Kyr?” Her eyes teared up once again as I nodded.

  “All of you.”

My lips crashed against hers, our tongues dancing together as I made her mine. Damn everyone else. If Avrielle would have me—even if only like this—I would find a way for us to be together, I couldn’t let her go, not after experiencing her like this. I began to push against the end of her—wishing I could truly make her mine. With every thrust her moans increased, becoming deep, ragged and aching sounds. It fueled the need inside of me, making me rock into her even harder, crashing against her limit over and over.

“Open up for me, Avrielle,” I begged, on her lips as I kissed her, unable to keep my desire hidden from her. “Please.” Her arms held me fiercely to her, as though she was afraid I would let her go. I focused on her eyes. “You are mine, you hear me. Only mine.”

Shudders began to shake her body under me, and her legs tightened around my hips as she neared the edge once more, and I pushed inside her persistently. The next second, Avrielle came apart in my arms, but I didn’t stop. I couldn’t. I thrust my hips forwards, and suddenly her warm walls opened up around me. I gasped from shock and pleasure as I slid all the way inside her. A wild wave of ecstasy rolled over me, and for a second everything ceased to exist.

Avrielle had opened up to me.

I moaned, halting any thrust, unable to move an inch as I experienced something I’d never been able to before—never thought I would. Avrielle’s body held me in tightly until there wasn’t an ounce of air between us. It felt as though her skin had molded to me. Unexpectedly, her walls began contracting around me in a continuous motion, stroking the life out of me. I hid my face in her neck while I shook in her arms. Strangled moans left me and mixed with Avrielle’s, becoming louder by the second while she desperately clung to me. The sounds escaping from her lips drove me closer to glory.

Our bodies reached the most magnificent peak, and we fell together. We remained still from the intensity of the feelings rushing through us, while the universe as we knew it exploded all around us, and I with it.

Avrielle and I gasped for air as our bodies shivered together. I claimed her lips, unable to open my eyes as the sensations still traveled through us. Slowly, our bodies calmed, and our heartbeats became normal again. When our gazes met, we shared the same look of absolute astonishment. If I weren’t still inside her, I would have thought it a desperate dream.

“You opened up to me, Avrielle…” I wasn’t able to finish the thought, as we stared at each other.

Tears filled her eyes, as she gently nodded. “I’ve always been yours, Kyr.”

I searched her face, trying to find logic to it all. “How is this even possible? You are fated to Ze—”

She cut off my words with a kiss. When her gaze met mine again, she smiled as the tears fell from her star-shaped lashes. “He might be fated to me, but I’m yours. I’m yours, Kyr. I’m yours and only—”

My lips crashed over Avrielle’s, unable to resist it. She was mine. My hips began to rock deliciously slow into hers. I craved her again, and I wasn’t sure I would ever get enough. I stopped when she hissed in pain, and her hand flew to her forehead. I was about to numb her aching with my mind when the nobility markings on her temples began to glow blue—like mine usually did. The lines shimmered, elongating, curling and sliding upwards over her forehead where they reconnected. They transformed before my eyes, no longer forming just a pattern but a full royal crown on her skin. In a way, it resembled my mother’s, but it was much more intricate and striking than I could have ever imagined seeing on my fated.

I had no idea how this was happening, but I had no doubts about what it meant anymore. I could smell her and taste her. Avrielle had brought me back to life, and her scent had compelled me like nothing ever could. I made her mine, and in the process, she had opened up to me, beautifully so. The crown that now rested on her forehead was binding proof.

Avrielle was my fated, and I was never letting her go.

She looked at me scared, and I grinned. Turning without separating us, I reached for a hand mirror on my night table, she moaned with the movement, and I grunted in pleasure, bringing it back to her. I held the mirror above her, and her eyes widened as she stared at her new reflection.

“Oh, my Lord! Kyr…” She trailed off, and I could feel her heart racing against my chest.

“You are my queen, Avrielle. Mine.”

Our lips touched while the mirror fell beside us, and my hips began to sway into her. Our kisses morphed into moans while we devoured each other, the love we had repressed all these years exploded out of us, pushing us to the marvelous peak that was now ours, and falling apart all over again in each other’s arms.

“You are never leaving my arms… we can walk like this right?”

My lips curved into a wide smile at Kyr’s words, while my eyes remained closed. My body laid against his, nestled under the crook of his arm while my cheek rested on his chest. We had spent what felt like hours together in his bed, making love, and I had miraculously opened up to him, giving all of me to him.

Kyr’s fingers lifted my chin, and I felt his lips close over mine ever so slightly. I felt like I was flying. “I have something for you,” he whispered, briefly sitting on the bed and I protested as his warmth left me.

Kyr chuckled, reaching into the pocket of his pants, took a silver chain that was placed on his night table and turned towards me, getting into bed again. I snuggled back into his arms, but when he lifted the chain, I gasped. The most beautiful pendant hung from it. It was a blue, gold and red crystal, yet the colors seemed to swirl inside it as though they had been trapped somehow.

“It’s a Dragon Breath crystal. It’s created when the Fire and Ice breaths of two dragons collide. I found it during my journey, and I want you to have it.”

My eyes widened at his words. “Are you sure? That is priceless.” My fingers reached for it, and as I touched it, the energy inside it hummed through my skin. My eyes connected with Kyr’s. “I don’t know if I can accept it. You will never find another one. That jewel is incredibly precious.”

His lips stretched into the most brilliant smile, and his eyes filled with love. “Just like you are to me, my queen.”

Emotion burst through me as he kissed my lips and looped the necklace around my neck. My fingers lightly touched it, while Kyr wrapped his arms around me and I once again rested my head on his chest.

I felt like I was dreaming, and although I didn’t want to question this gift we were given, a part of me knew that sooner or later we would have to deal with the reality outside this room. We would have to speak to Zeph and the Dark King. Still, there was no doubt about it, I was Kyr’s, and that was all I had ever wanted to be.

Kyr’s fingers lazily stroked my back, getting lower and lower each time. My lips stretched into a naughty smile this time, as he reached my glutes and firmly massaged them, then began to lift my leg around his waist, I turned my head leaving small kisses along the hard muscles of his chest and sucked his nipple, hearing him moan. Kyr’s throaty moans were pure bliss, sinful, delicious and torturing all at once. And knowing I was the one causing these reactions on him—the great Commander of the Dark Army, the man I had silently adored and admired all my life, and lusted after since I was able to experience my first fantasy—made it all the most pleasurable.

The way his body moved inside me, how he had made me lose myself in him, and come apart for him was wicked and absolutely perfect. The way he had tasted my body… I wanted his mouth on me all day and all night.

“What happened to your hair?” I asked breathless, while his hands did wonders on me.

  “That isn’t important right now.”

“Well, I like it. You look incredibly sexy.”

Kyr grinned. His fingers lifted my chin, and he kissed me, turning
our bodies, so I was over him. I smiled naughtily while biting my bottom lip and he groaned, eyes sparkling with desire. His hands guided my hips, sitting me on top of him, and I moaned feeling him become part of me. Pushing myself up on his chest, I arched my back, and he followed. I held his head to my chest, while his lips closed over my nipple, and a moan escaped me as his tongue played with the tip. I began to move on him.

We barely had a chance to react as the doors to his room flew open, and three guards marched in. One grabbed my arms and pulled me from Kyr brusquely. I screamed, falling on the floor, the next second all three of their necks snapped as Kyr rushed to me.

  “Are you all right?”

Kyr asked worriedly and enraged for what the guard had done. He lifted me to my feet while his hands flew over my body, checking it, and then reached for his robe covering me swiftly.

I looked at the dead guards on the floor around us, while Kyr secured the belt of the silk robe at my waist, and reached for his pants, putting them on. He had killed them so easily. I didn’t even see him move. Kyr had never used his ability so instinctively.

“That was you?” I asked, trembling as fear rushed me. If the royal guards had come into the room like this, it only meant one thing. The Dark King knew, and he wasn’t pleased.

Kyr finally nodded, coming back to my side and holding me to him. “I’m so sorry I scared you.”

He kissed my lips, and I shook my head. “It wasn’t you, I—” Two more guards came in, but before they could reach us, their bodies crashed against the walls and the armoire, falling unconscious to the floor. Kyr held me fiercely to him. “What’s happening?” I choked on the words as my eyes widened.

“What the hell is going on here?!” The Dark King bellowed, walking into the room and Kyr tensed. His eyes flew to me in his son’s protective embrace, and rage transformed his face. “How dare you touch her?” I jumped slightly in Kyr’s arms. Ten more guards rushed in.

“If any of you even dares to look at her I will kill you,” Kyr vowed to the guards, and they stopped in their tracks, their weary gazes went to the king. “These are my chambers, get out!” Kyr ordered.

“Seize her!” King Laeroth yelled at the same time, and the guards moved. The king’s command was stronger.

Before they could reach us their necks cracked in unison and I gasped. I wasn’t the only one as the king looked at Kyr stunned, and I could feel the surprise, even in Kyr. His ability had never been this strong.

“I will do anything to protect you, my queen,” he whispered, kissing my temple, as though answering my silent question.

Laurel ran into the room followed by more guards. “I told you she was here, my king. I heard them.”

“Thank you, Laurel,” the king said to her pleased.

My shocked gaze went to her. “You exposed us before we could even figure this out ourselves? You told the king?”

She straightened, her gaze filling with disgust. “You don’t belong in the prince’s bed.”

“You treacherous bitch!” I yelled, feeling betrayed. Laurel didn’t owe anything to me, but Kyr had trusted that woman with his life.

Kyr stared at her in silence, and I knew he was devastated by her disloyalty to him. “How could you do this to me, Laurel?” Her eyes teared up just before she dropped them to the floor ashamedly. “Get out.” He said resolute, and her head snapped up in shock. “You are banished from the Winter Court, and forbidden ever to return,” Kyr ordered calmly, yet his voice dripped with venom and hurt.

She stared at him horrified. “No, please. My King!” She begged the Dark King to undo the order, but he didn’t even bother to look at her as the magic of Kyr’s command fell over her. “No! Please!” She began to cry as her own feet dragged her away from there.

Kyr’s hands brought me even closer to him, as the king’s defiant glare reached him, as though daring him.

King Laeroth motioned the other five guards. “Bring her to me.”

“Please stop!” I begged the king. “Kyr will kill anyone to protect me. I’m his. Please don’t do this.”

“His?!” He roared. “You are his?? Why, because he gave you an hour of sex? You have no idea what you two have done!”

“Stop it, Father!” Kyr answered, just as strongly. “She is mine! My fated, and I will marry her and make her my queen whether you can accept it or not.”

The king’s eyes flamed and true fear rippled through me. He was going to kill me for this. I knew it. He wouldn’t touch me, but I was as good as dead.

“Whether I can accept it or not?” He took a step forwards looking insulted. “I am your king, and you will do as I say. You don’t even know what a fated is; you are dead inside; did you forget that? You’ll be left alone for eternity! Now you think because you are the prince you have the right to take anyone you choose? Well, you can’t have her!!”

Ash and Nyx burst into the room at that moment. “What the hell is happening here?” Ash asked, taken aback by the scene before him.

Kyr’s chest rose and fell sharply as he let go of me and guided me behind him, protecting me with his body. He didn’t register that his brothers were with us as he faced his father off. “She is mine,” he seethed. “My fated, and I’m not letting anyone touch her.” His fists clenched and I feared the worst. He was going to fight his own father for me. I couldn’t have that.

“Please stop,” I begged, sidestepping Kyr and as the king’s eyes settled on me, they widened.

“What have you done to her?!” He asked, finally seeing my new royal markings, and stepped closer.

“She is my fated!” Kyr bellowed. “She opened up to me, and you can’t take her from my side!”

Everyone gasped. Nyx and Ash looked at each other stunned, just as the king staggered back, horrified at his son’s words.

Estharis arrived then, she rushed towards me, and I hugged her, crying. “It’s true,” I whispered. “I opened up to him. I’m his. We are fated.”

The king snapped, in a fraction of a second his glowing hand was on Kyr’s arm. His enhanced strength kicked in, and he tossed his son up as though he was nothing. Kyr crashed against the vaulted ceiling and plummeted all the way back down. The sound of cracked bones echoed around us as his legs fractured on impact.

“No!” I yelled, running to him but the guard chose that opportunity to grab me, pulling me back against his chest.

“What are you doing?!” Ash roared disturbed, walking up to the king as Kyr tried to get up—his ability had begun healing his legs. Kyr’s infuriated eyes connected with the king and his father screamed in pain. He cupped his head and dropped to his knees while I struggled against the guard’s arms.

“Let Avrielle go this instant!” Nyx ordered the guard, but his command wasn’t strong enough. My gaze went to Kyr. He struggled to stand—not fully healed—as two guards rushed him. I screamed dismayed, seeing them place the magic blocking cuffs on is wrists.

They hauled him up, and Kyr turned, kicking the guard’s chest and punching the second on the neck. Nyx and Ash began to fight the others, defending their brother but it was too late. The blocking bracelets were on Kyr, and I feared what the king would do to his son. King Laeroth grunted, finally standing from the floor, he still held his head from the attack Kyr had sent to him, but he wasn’t weakened by any means. When his eyes met Kyr’s again, they seemed all black.

“You dare attack your king?” He said, baffled at Kyr’s behavior. “Take him to the dungeon!” he roared.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” Ash asked, standing tall against his father while the tears fell from my eyes. “He’s been the perfect son. He’s done everything for you, even your dirty work and this is how you repay him? What kind of father are you? What kind of king are you?” He defied, stepping closer. “Avrielle opened up to him, she is his whether you like it or not, and he deserves her!”

“It’s a lie because they are obsessed with each other!” The king answered. “What, you thought I didn’t know?
That I hadn’t noticed your pathetic behavior?!” He spat at Kyr. “Well, snap out of it. Avrielle can’t be your fated because she is your sister!”

“What?” I choked on a sob, as my heart began to rip apart. I looked at Kyr. Estharis gasped, as Nyx and Ash stood frozen.

“You are lying,” Kyr answered, tossing guards aside as they attempted to grab him, and rushing towards me. The man behind me let me go, afraid of what their prince would do. Kyr lifted my face with his bound hands and looked straight into my eyes. “Don’t listen to him. You know what we felt. We belong to each other, Avrielle. You opened up to me, and you are mine.” He placed his forehead on mine, and I nodded as he kissed me. “You are my queen.” He whispered, just as the guards who had held him before recovered and grabbed him, pulling him away from me.

“What you proclaim is impossible, Father.” Nyx offered, and turned to knock out a man that attempted to hold him. He fixed his glasses, returning to the conversation. “I don’t know why you are trying to keep them apart, but she would simply not have opened up to him if they were related. It’s impossible, and I am sure my brother Kyr isn’t lying.”

More guards entered the room and placed magic blocking bangles on Ash and Nyx, before they could fight them, seized them too. The brothers tried to fight them off, but they had managed to hold down all three brothers. The king looked at me, and disappointment entered his eyes.

“What I say is true. I wanted a daughter after only having boys, and the seer assured me Alannah would give me one. The Duke accepted my proposal, and I made him my treasurer as payment for a night with your mother. He and Alannah got to raise you as their own, but my condition was you were to grow up in the castle, by my side.”

“No! No….” I cried, desperately grasping to the words Kyr had shared with me.
