He grinned at the idea, hungry for the delightfully wonderful idea of introducing his wild woman to something truly depraved.

But he’d go slowly for her sake.

  He could wait.

  Or could he?

He wanted to hear her gasp, wanted to feel her squirm from the pleasure as he forced her to feel every sinful sensation and then he wanted to fuck her so hard her teeth rattled.

A possessiveness ripped through him as he grabbed her ass and spread her cheeks.

Still hazy and weak from her orgasm she didn’t have time to react before he plunged his tongue deep into her sweet ass, rimming her as if she were the sweetest candy.

Tana cried out, groaning, losing herself again.

He could become addicted to pleasuring Tana.

  Hell, maybe he already was.

Tana jerked as he tongue-fucked her ass, using his saliva to juice up her tightly closed bud.

Ahhh, if only he’d come prepared to take her virgin ass. Another time, he promised himself as he drew away, positioning himself at her entrance. He didn’t need to finesse his breach — she was hot and wet, more than ready for him.

Reece lost himself inside Tana, groaning with extreme pleasure as she clamped down around him, squeezing his cock with her slick walls.

His eyes rolled back as he thrust against her, burying his shaft balls-deep in her willing softness.

  F-f-fuck. This was heaven.

His plan had been to draw out the pleasure, to switch up, using his mad skills to drive her insane with need but they were both edging that precipice in record time. He tried to school his unruly brain away from the hot and torrid sensation of fucking but it was simply too good.

  He couldn’t fucking control himself.

Reece felt an irrational need to finish inside Tana, as if his seed was going to somehow mark her as his. He wanted to crow, to shout, to growl to the rooftops that she was HIS and if anyone tried to get between them, he’d rip them apart.

Even worse, he suddenly resented the latex between them, wishing they were skin on skin, without a barrier to block his seed from finding its target.

  But that was lunacy.

And it was that shockingly rabid errant thought that snapped him back into focus. Withdrawing, he turned her over and flipped her long legs over his shoulders, bending her in half as he plunged back in, hitting that G-spot. She groaned and clutched at him, drawing him closer.

He was only too happy to oblige.

He couldn’t go deep enough for his tastes. He wanted to hammer her with his cock and leave her sopping wet and weak, thoroughly fucked.

And he wanted the world to know it was he who had done the honors.

Shuddering, he couldn’t stop the building pressure no matter what he tried.

Her nails bit into his shoulders but he welcomed the pain, groaning loudly as he came hard.

“T-tana,” he gasped her name, thrusting wildly as he came in giant, pulsing jets of seed. He wanted to soak her with it but that damn latex prevented what he desperately wanted in that moment, which stole a corner of his joy.

  He was losing his mind.

Reece rocked back on his heels, his cock slipping from her well-fucked pussy as he fell back on the bed, breathing hard.

Black dots swam in front his eyes and he wondered if he was passing out. Well, there were worse ways to go, right?

When his vision cleared, he pulled the used condom and dropped it in the trash.

Tana was still adorably spent, her legs splayed like a broken doll as she whimpered from the aftershocks.

Her dark hair was tousled and spread across the pillow and her beautiful breasts, full with pebbled tips, begged for some attention.

Reece rose and went to the champagne, pouring two flutes and grabbing the strawberries as well before he returned to the bed.

“Thirsty?” he asked with a grin as he handed her the glass.

“Very,” Tana admitted with a shy smile before sipping the fine champagne. She savored the champagne but added, “Water would’ve been great, too.”

He chuckled and selected a ripe, red strawberry, biting into it. “True. But how am I supposed to have my way with you if you’re completely sober?”

She laughed and wagged her finger at him. “Bad boy.”

“The worst,” he agreed, handing her a strawberry, watching as she bit into the juicy fruit.

A tiny dribble of juice escaped her mouth and before she could wipe it away, he licked the sweetness from her lips with a slow, sensual drag of his tongue, ending with a kiss that tasted of summer and endless days spent at the beach.

Careful, a voice warned. Remember what you’re doing this for.

But before he could regroup and launch into his counter attack, she shocked him with a question of her own, one that he couldn’t help but answer honestly.

“If you’re nothing like the rest of your family, why do you work for them?”

  “Because I don’t have a choice.”

He hadn’t meant to reveal so much but he couldn’t seem to find the words that would’ve made lying easy.

“Everyone has choices,” she murmured, softly knuckling his cheek, her brown eyes warm.

Reece smiled through the painful zing in his heart and briefly kissed her hand before removing it.

  “Not everyone, darling. Not everyone.”

  Chapter 13

  z

What did that mean? Tana frowned with confusion. “I don’t understand,” she said. “Are they forcing you to work with them?”

Reece didn’t look happy with his own admission but it was already out there and he couldn’t take it back. Nor was she going to let him.

He sighed and showed her a thin scar on his knee that she’d never noticed before. “See this?” he pointed and she nodded. “That’s from the surgery to repair my torn ACL my junior year in college. Up until that point, I was a champion lacrosse player with my sights on going pro. I never wanted to work for Buchanan Enterprises but shit happens and you make the best of it.”

Reece tried to make light of his statement but he couldn’t quite keep the bitterness from leaching into his tone.

  “What happened?”

“Got tripped up, landed all wrong, and ripped my ACL to shreds. It’s a common enough injury but I never thought it’d happen to me.”

She could just imagine how confident a younger, athletic version of Reece must’ve been. Of course, he’d never imagine that something as simple as an injury could end his burgeoning career.

  “How’d your family handle it?”

Reece’s expression shuttered as he shrugged off her question. “They never thought a career in lacrosse was something I should pursue. My father said it wasn’t a career; it was something to do in college to stay busy and get laid. He never understood the true meaning of being an athlete but whatever, that was a long time ago.”

“That sucks,” she murmured, sensing Reece’s hidden pain in spite of his attempt to act as if it didn’t matter any longer. “That must’ve been rough.”

“It is what it is. Maybe my father was right…lacrosse isn’t exactly something you can do when you’re fifty. No one is getting rich playing lacrosse and God knows the Buchanans don’t do anything that doesn’t make them money.”

“You must’ve been really good to think you had a shot at going pro,” she said.

A reluctant smile edged his mouth. “I was. I had scouts blowing up my phone until I was injured.”

She smiled. “I’ll bet. So what happened after you realized that you weren’t going to be able to play any longer?”

Reece fell into a pensive silence that thickened as the seconds ticked by. Finally, he shrugged with a sigh, saying, “Nothing, actually. I finished school, got my degree, like a good boy, and then went to work for Buchanan Enterprises. Everything was nice and tidy, just the way my family likes it. Chapter closed.”

“But what about your feelings? From wha
t I understand, you loved the sport. How did you deal with that huge blow to your life?”

Tana could tell that Reece was squirming under her questioning.

Maybe he’d buried those feelings for a long time and it was difficult to pull them out and examine.

A lot of repressed anger had a way of bubbling up when you scratch the surface of its tomb.

“When my mom left, well, the second time she left,” Tana clarified, clearing her throat. “I was devastated. I thought that this time she had changed. That she was going to do the things she promised, like stick around, but she didn’t. In fact, she bailed within the first two weeks of returning. And I was stupid enough to think that maybe she’d come back until I realized, I didn’t want her back. She brought chaos and heartache wherever she landed and I was tired of watching her put my grandparents through hell as well as what she did to me. The constant back and forth was excruciating. I was seven when I finally told her to leave and never come back.”

“That’s pretty young,” he said, his brows pulling with concern.

“Yeah, it was but I knew, even that young, that my mom was toxic and I didn’t want her around any more. Even so…it hurt. It hurts a lot to admit that your mom is an asshole.”

At that an unexpected chuckle followed as he said, “Yeah, I know the feeling. My family is filled with assholes.”

“And an asshole with money? Probably the worst, right?” Tana teased.

  “Absolutely.”

Reece reached for her, tucking Tana into the cove of his arm, wrapping her in a tight embrace that felt perfect. Their bodies fit together like puzzle pieces and even though that was cliché, it was true, just the same.

“You know…just because you can’t play anymore doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy the game,” Tana said, glancing up at Reece.

He frowned. “What do you mean?”

“Have you ever thought of coaching or sponsoring a team?”

An unsure laugh followed. “No. Not really.”

“Why not? If you have a gift and a love for something…you should share that with people.”

“Always the little do-gooder,” he murmured, brushing a kiss across her lips. “Does your halo ever fall off?”

Tana scowled at his playful mocking. “I’m being serious. You have all these resources at your disposal and yet what do you have to show for it? You could do some serious good with your money but instead, you spend it on, God knows what. I’m just saying, put that money to good use for someone else.”

“Calm down, firecracker,” he said, climbing on top of her.

She tried to resist the distraction of all that lovely muscle and fine-ass man meat but she was only human. “I’m just saying…” she trailed, her gaze dipping to his hardening cock lying against her belly.

“I know what you’re saying and I’m saying that’s not my deal. Besides, lacrosse is in my past, not my future and I’ve dealt with that fact. Now…I say we shelve all this serious talk and get back to what was originally scheduled for the evening.”

A smile found her. “Which was?”

“Total abject depravity, epic orgasms, and morally ambiguous adult fun.”

“Sounds like an STD waiting to happen.”

“Not if we’re careful,” he said solemnly before descending on her breasts like a starving man, sucking in the taut nipples and causing her to forget why she was annoyed in the first place.

  Ohhh, that man had talent.

That brief moment of vulnerability was like crack in her system, infecting her with a desire to know more, to get to know the real Reece Buchanan, not the rich playboy who seemed to care for nothing and no one.

Real pain lurked beneath the surface of that handsome smirk and it was that glimmer of genuine emotion that deepened her craving.

Tana clutched at his head, anchoring him to her breast, losing herself to the sensation of being suckled by this incredible sexy, surprisingly deep, man and she hazily wondered, how was she going to survive this game with her heart intact?

The scary part was…she had a feeling she wouldn’t.

  ***

The following morning, Reece awoke to the sound of his cell buzzing.

When he saw that it was Dillon, he climbed from the bed and left the room to take the call.

“What do you want?” he asked, irritated. “You’re like a Goddamn stalker.”

“You’ve been dodging my calls. I need to know your progress. Time is ticking. We have a schedule to keep.”

“Fuck your schedule. You’ll just have to wait if you want your precious building. Tana isn’t like most girls. She doesn’t simper and she isn’t easily wowed by the superficial things that you prescribed.”

“Then find her weakness and exploit it,” Dillon said, impatient. “I’m done pussyfooting around on this deal. I have investors lined up and all I need is the green light to start the negotiations. This deal has the potential to make us all a lot of money.”

Big deal. They were already rich. What were a few more millions in the bank? “Yeah, whatever. I told you I’m working on it, now get off my fucking back.”

He clicked off before Dillon could respond. He’d never been a fan of Dillon anyway. The man had always been an arrogant prick and not much had changed.

Nolan had always been more his speed. Whenever they’d visited summers, Nolan had been the one to include him in their antics.

Of course, those antics were usually ripe with trouble but at least Nolan had made an attempt to make him feel included.

Perhaps he could talk to Nolan about this situation.

But even as he thought it, he knew Nolan wouldn’t go up against Dillon, not in business, anyway.

Besides, he was so busy being a doting husband and father that he couldn’t be bothered with how Dillon was running the empire.

Sutton was useless, too. That man’s brain was completely consumed by his new bride and he was only recently starting to take a fresh interest in the business and likely would agree with Dillon because at the end of the day, Sutton liked things that made him more money.

  And Whitney?

Hell, Whitney wasn’t going to help either. Something was eating that girl and she wouldn’t share with anyone but then she’d never really taken much of an interest in anything business-like in her life, preferring her parties, shopping trips, and constantly revolving door of boyfriends.

That left him completely on his own.

  And back to square one.

He had to deliver this deal or else he was going to discover how much he despised true poverty.

“That asshole,” muttered Reece, wishing he had the balls to tell Dillon to shove his threats up his puckered pie-hole and let the chips fall where they may.

But even as pissed off as he was, he knew that wasn’t an option.

Reece didn’t know how to be poor.

So he was going to suck up his righteous indignation and bad attitude and put a happy face on it so he could get the job done.

And what happens to Tana then?

  Not his problem.

  Yeah, sure. That’s convincing.

Even as he fought a silent war with himself, his gaze was already locked on her sleeping form, noting how the morning light caressed her skin and brought out the caramel tones in her dark hair.

How would he quit this rapidly forming addiction?

Reece held no delusions that once it was all said and done that Tana wouldn’t hate him forever.

A grim sadness gripped his heart and he had to push it away.

  That’s life. Get over it.

In the meantime, time to put his game face back on.

Quietly padding to the kitchen, he returned with a tray laden with fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese, orange juice and coffee.

“Hey sleepyhead, time to rise and shine,” he called out, smiling as she lifted her head from the pillow with a drowsy look of confusion.

  “What time is it?”

  “Almost nine.

Her eyes widened and she pushed the covers away, revealing her nude body but he didn’t have time to enjoy the view because she was hurriedly dressing as if the devil were coming.

“What’s wrong?” he asked, worried. “Don’t like bagels? I can have something else brought aboard. It’ll just take a phone call.”

“The bagels are fine. I have to get home. The night nurse is only scheduled until eight. Anytime after that is time and a half, which I can’t afford.”

“That’s easy enough to fix. I’m paying for the nurse so don’t worry about it.”

“I told you I was going to pay you back.”

“I’d say you put a pretty good down payment on that debt last night,” he leered and she snapped her head to glare with an aggrieved frown.

“That’s not funny,” she said stiffly. “I’m not paying you with sex.”

Realizing he’d made a grave error, he immediately apologized. “That was in bad taste. I was just kidding. I would never suggest…”

“It’s fine but I don’t appreciate that kind of humor.”

  “Duly noted.”

She pulled her hair into a hasty pony tail and shimmied into her dress from last night with a grimace. “I should’ve brought a change of clothes. If this doesn’t look like the walk of shame, I don’t know what does.”

He was rapidly losing all the ground he’d gained. “Hey, don’t worry, I’ll get you home and because it’s my fault you’re late, I will cover the extra hour. How does that sound?”

Tana eyed him warily. “That sounds reasonable.” Then she grabbed a bagel and quickly lathered it up with cream cheese. “How quickly can you be ready?”

Realizing she meant business, Reece grabbed his jeans and made quick work of securing the boat for his friend.

Then, he and Tana climbed into the awaiting Towncar and they melted into traffic, their time spent on a luxury yacht shoved aside for the time being.

As Tana exited the Towncar with a quick goodbye — not even a kiss, mind you — Reece was left to puzzle over the sudden cold shoulder.

  What’d gone wrong?

A chilling thought came to him.

Had she somehow overheard his conversation with Dillon?
