“Let’s all meet up Friday night for food and drinks. We can double date and Jay can meet Demetrius too,” Brook said happily.

“Yeah, we can do that. That sounds like a good idea,” Kamora said. They talked until Kamora made it to the restaurant and told each other ‘I love you’ and hung up.

Nikki was already inside when Kamora made it. She texted and told her she left her name with the hostess. “It’s crowded in here for a Monday,” Kamora said as she was being led to her table.

“DAAMMNNN!! LOOK AT THAT RING!! OH MY GOD…. IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!” Nikki said while grabbing her friend’s hand before she could even sit down. “Wait, when did this happen?” Nikki asked, looking at Kamora sideways.

“It was just Saturday night at his mom’s house, but I wanted to tell you face to face girl,” Kamora told her.

“I guess I’ll let you slide. I’m so happy for you guys. I think you two are perfect for each other,” Nikki said while smiling.

“Thank you, Nikki. For everything. You pushed me when I didn’t even want to give him a chance. I gotta fill you in on some other shit, now that we have the pleasantries out of the way,” Kamora said.

“Shit. I’m scared to know, but spill it,” Nikki said. The waitress came and took their orders before Kamora could start talking. They ordered ribs, chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and mac and cheese to share. Along with a sweet tea for Nikki and water for Kamora since they never placed their drink orders because of Nikki becoming ecstatic when she saw Kamora’s ring.

Nikki was ready to fight this Trish bitch, and she didn’t even know what she looked like at that exact moment. She was pissed the fuck off as she listened to her friend run down the story. She even filled her in on Brook and her new man and told her that she was supposed to meet him on Friday. She gave her friend the run down on every single thing that had been going on and when she was finished, it was Nikki’s turn to fill her friend in on her crazy life. They both laughed, cried, and did everything in between while talking and chowing down on their food. Nikki even told Kamora about the cop who had been checking in on her. ‘Ohh baby, you and I… together for all times’, by Avant and Keke Wyatt sounded from Kamora’s phone and she smiled before answering. “Oh shit now! It’s really real!” Nikki said while laughing at her friend.

Demetrius let Kamora know that he dropped Dee off at his mom’s house, and he was about to pull up to the restaurant she was at so he could get a kiss before heading to handle his business. “Isn’t he just the sweetest… and there he is now,” Nikki said as they were getting up to leave. Kamora turned around and smiled when she saw her boo.

“You didn’t say you were already outside,” she said to him while running onto his arms. He scooped her up and gave her a hug and kiss.

“Hey Nikki,” Demetrius spoke to Nikki after he put Kamora down. She spoke back and told him he did excellent choosing Kamora’s ring.

“Thank you, but it’s not as beautiful as she is,” he replied while looking into Kamora’s eyes. Kamora tried to leave a hundred-dollar bill on the table, but Demetrius picked it up, put it back in her purse, and replaced it with one of his own.

“I got this!” he said and smacked her on the ass before she could say anything back.

As they were walking out, Kamora noticed a woman walking towards the restaurant and her blood began to boil. Just as she was about to reach into her purse to grab the picture, the lady stopped dead in her tracks and was about to turn around and leave. “TRISH!!” Kamora yelled and the lady made a mistake by stopping and confirming her identity.

  “Oh shit!” Nikki said.

“Trish!” Demetrius said, but Kamora didn’t hear either one of them because she was already headed towards Trish. Trish tried to run, but Kamora grabbed her by her hair and pulled her backwards.

“I’m sor-” Trish tried to say, but Kamora cut her off by hitting her in the mouth.

“You took my fucking son!” Kamora screamed and punched her repeatedly in the face. Demetrius was reaching to grab Kamora but, when he heard her say you took my son, he was in shock. Nikki stood there watching and not caring to stop Kamora at all because she felt like Trish needed the fuck beat out of her. While Nikki and Demetrius shared glances, Nikki confirmed what he was standing there thinking. Kamora had sent him a text; someone by the name of Trish was D’Mani’s birth mother’s name, but never in a million years would he have guessed it was Trish Nichols. Sirens blaring caused Demetrius to snap back into reality. When he looked down, Trish was damn near unconscious. He finally grabbed Kamora, not to protect Trish, but to try and save his fiancée. It was too late because two police cars pulled into the parking lot, and he was sure they saw him pull Kamora from on top of Trish.

“That bitch took my baby. I don’t give a fuck if she is the one that birthed him. She left him and doesn’t know shit about him. Call Detective Johnson down here,” Kamora spat to the officer angrily as she was being handcuffed.

“Calm down please ma’am. We’re going to get to the bottom of it,” the officer told her. The other officer was bending down calling for an ambulance because Trish had been fucked up and it appeared that she may need some medical attention.

“No. I’m okay,” Trish said barely above a whisper, trying to stop the officer from calling for an ambulance.

“So, y’all not gonna handcuff that bitch!” Kamora said the officers.

“Calm down baby. I got you,” Demetrius said to Kamora.

“This bitch needs to be arrested for kidnapping,” Nikki stated angrily while pointing down at Trish. She made a sudden move towards Trish, but Demetrius moved around and grabbed her. I fucked that bitch back in the day… I wonder… nah that shit is just crazy, Demetrius thought to himself. Trish stood to her feet and the officer beside her grabbed his handcuffs and proceeded to put them on her.

“D’Mani is your son, Smoke!” Trish said and all eyes turned to her immediately.

“What the fuck?” Kamora and Nikki said at the same time.

Kamora tried to move towards her, but the cop grabbed her and the cuffs on her wrist tightened a little. Demetrius stood there in a daze while thinking what the fuck himself. He thought all of his suspicions before had been too farfetched, but it seemed as if they were becoming a reality. The officer who was standing near Kamora called Detective Johnson and briefed him on the incident. Kamora heard the officer telling Detective Johnson that he wasn’t going to have a choice but to bring both women downtown and everything could be sorted out later.

“Stop lying bitch!!” Nikki said to Trish.

“I know I’ve done some fucked up shit and I have been paying for it all my life,” Trish said as the ambulance was pulling up. “I lied to Marquez about being D’Mani’s dad because Smoke was locked up,” Trish nervously confessed.

“Just put me in the car before I kill that bitch,” Kamora told the officer.

“I’m back now and I can raise my son. Smoke, you can raise him with me,” Trish argued.

Kamora turned around and took off running towards Trish again, only to be grabbed by the officer.

“You done lost your muthafuckin mind!” Demetrius screamed to Trish angrily. “Do you realize what the fuck you’re saying and all of the damage you’ve caused?” he continued.

“It ain’t even a long story baby. I fucked her back in the day but didn’t have not one got damn clue that she had a baby by me,” Demetrius revealed, facing towards Kamora. While he was pleading with a speechless Kamora, Trish was refusing services by the EMT’s, so she was put in the back of the other police car. Kamora stared at her with hate. She was thankful she was handcuffed because she envisioned herself choking the life out of Trish.

“What are y’all charging her with? Is the victim pressing charges?” Detective Johnson asked as soon as Kamora was escorted into the police station.

“We’re not really sure yet,” one of the officer replied.

“Get those handcuffs off of her!” Detective Johnson demanded and they
took them off of Kamora immediately. Kamora rubbed her wrists because the cuffs had gotten really tight, as a result to all of the moving she was doing. She looked down at her wrists and saw a couple of marks. She was taken to the back and put in a holding room, instead of a cell. Detective Johnson explained to the officers how the current case was connected to a high caliber kidnapping case.

“I thought she looked familiar,” the officer who was with Trish at the scene said.

Demetrius walked into the station after finally finding a parking space. Nikki was only a few steps behind him. ‘I’m here to bail Kamora Whitfield out,” he said loudly to the first person he saw. Detective Johnson was in the next room over and heard him, so he walked out. He told him that Kamora was supposed to be in a cell because Trish stated that she wanted to press charges if she didn’t agree to give her son back, but they just had her in a holding room. He told Demetrius they didn’t want to upset Kamora with that information, but assured him that he would get a bond set soon. Demetrius told him he wasn’t leaving and went and sat down.

“I can’t believe this shit,” he said to Nikki after sitting down in the chair beside her.

“This is a hot ass mess. So, you and Marquez had not one, but two of the same women,” Nikki said unbelievingly.

“That bitch don’t count. I’m sure he fucked her for the same damn reason I did… plus being young and dumb,” Demetrius replied. “You think your girl gon flip out on me for this?” he continued and asked Nikki sounding sad and frustrated.

“Hmm… nah, not for this. I’m not saying she ain’t gon make ya ass sweat, but she won’t hold anything from the past like that against you. Besides, I know she loved Marquez dearly, but if you’re really D’Mani’s dad, that kinda makes it better, if you ask me. He doesn’t remember much about Marquez, but y’all will have to figure out how to handle that.”

“I can’t lose her. I know that much. We gonna make it work,” Demetrius said confidently.

They sat there talking for about an hour before someone came and told them that Kamora’s bond had been set at twenty-five thousand dollars and an emergency hearing had been set for Wednesday morning. Demetrius told them to start the paperwork and he would be back with the money within thirty minutes.

“Did y’all set a bond for the kidnapping bitch?” Nikki asked unrelenting. She was told they weren’t supposed to disclose that kind of information to non-family members, and Nikki rolled her eyes and mumbled if they wanted her alive, it would be best if they kept her.

  Chapter 22

“Baby, let’s go out Friday night. I really want you to meet my cousin,” Brooklyn said persistently to Jay. He sat silently so she continued. “Come on… pleeaasseeee! My parents aren’t alive anymore, as you know, and this is really my only family. No one else matters more to me than her. Just do this one thing. You know I don’t ask for much,” Brook pleaded with a puppy dog face. Jay thought about the fact that Brooklyn really didn’t ask for much, and it wasn’t going to kill him to meet her cousin, so he might as well agree if it would make her happy. He could show up, stay a few minutes, then leave the two women alone to enjoy each other.

“Ok baby. You’re right; you don’t ask for much and I love that about you. I’ll come through and meet your cousin. Where y’all eating at?” Jay asked.

“I haven’t decided. I invited her, so I will pick a place soon, but I want you to pick me up so we can go together. I’m gonna have a few drinks and get myself naughty and take care of you afterwards,” Brook said seductively.

“Word? Aight then, I’ll roll wit it,” Jay replied. “What happened wit you and Coco?” he asked.

“Ugghhh!! That bitch started acting funny when I told her about our engagement. I ignored it and went to breakfast with her anyway a few days later when she invited me. It went downhill when she saw my ring. The hoe started flapping her gums, saying you pass out rings all the time and she pulled one out of her purse. I’m tryna be a better person, so I decided to get up and leave ya know. The bitch followed me outside and had the nerve to open my door. I beat the fuck outta her then. I don’t need no fake friends,” Brooklyn said while rolling her eyes and waving her arms up and down, recapping the story to Jay.

Jay listened intently and decided Brooklyn’s story sounded more believable than the bullshit story Coco had fed him. “I know you had other bitches in the past, so I ain’t tripping, but I ain’t gon be disrespected by them. I hope you done let all of them hoes know I don’t like to share,” Brook said as she walked up and kissed Jay sensually. He smacked her on the ass after she broke the kiss. Brook unbuckled his belt and looked at him mischievously. The next thing he felt was her hot mouth on his dick. It took less than a second for it to spring to life.

“Shit! Suck that dick girl,” Jay moaned and said as Brook went to work. It started feeling too good for him to continue standing, so he eased backwards and fell on the chaise. Just when he didn’t think his dick could get any harder, Brook started making slurping noises and deep throated him; his shit got harder than a brick. When she felt his legs tighten, she knew he was about to cum; she massaged his dick with her right hand, squeezed his balls, and swallowed every last drop of his cum.

“Thanks for agreeing to meet my cousin baby,” Brook said after she got up to head to the bathroom.

When Brook came back out, Jay was getting ready to leave. “If you leave, be sure you call or text and let me know,” he said on his way out of the door. Brook told him okay while silently thinking that was the biggest issue she had with Jay, him being so controlling. After she got married, she was planning to enroll in school and didn’t know how he would feel about it. She realized she had no life and wanted to make something out of it. She told herself she would mention it to him later but, for the time being, she decided to just let the relationship flow. While surfing the internet looking at different wedding dresses, Brook started to get sad thinking about her best friend Keisha. She missed her friend dearly. Her phone chimed with a text message and brought her away from her memories.

Coco: Ain’t no beef. I just hope you know what you doing.

Brook read the message over and over and over. She wanted to reply and cuss Coco the fuck out, but something wouldn’t let her. She knew Coco was jealous, but she also knew there had to be some valid reasons behind her jealousy. I done whooped her ass once and don’t have a problem doing it again if she gets out of line, Brook thought to herself before replying to Coco and telling her that everything was all good.

After Brook replied, she picked a couple of wedding magazines she bought, browsed through them, and decided to call and check on Kamora. She really couldn’t wait until the weekend because she missed being free to hang out with her cousin. She told herself that once Jay met her and saw how nice she was, he wouldn’t trip when she went to visit. He wouldn’t know that Demetrius was going to be there until they got there because he would probably back out, being that he was funny acting around new niggas. Brook purposely withheld that information. She was learning what and what not to tell Jay. Asking him to meet Kamora was the first time she mentioned her name to him since they were on vacation.

Coco had thoughts of backing out of her plan to give Peanut the rest of the information she had, including Jay’s name, but after he cussed her out and called her a bitch ass hoe and a liar, she said fuck him and told herself she would go through with her plan. She texted Brook because she realized Brook really wasn’t the problem; she was just caught up in the situation just like she was herself, but she truly hoped Brook would be careful with Jay because he was a snake in the grass.

Coco pulled up to IHOP where she was meeting Peanut. When she called him earlier, he said he was hungry, so Coco asked him to meet her at IHOP and he agreed. To say she was elated would be an understatement. She didn’t know what she was to him, but she was feeling him. He started breaking her off with cash from time to time, so she hoped he was feeling her too.

  They p
ulled up at the same time, got out, and walked in. Once they were seated, the waitress asked them what they were having to drink. They both ordered orange juice and also told her they were ready to order. Peanut ordered the T-bone steak and scrambled eggs with a stack of pancakes on the side, and Coco decided on the Breakfast Sampler. As soon as the waitress left, they started talking. Coco let Peanut make small talk first, then she got down to business. “Jay, his name is Jay,” she told Peanut and then filled him in on weak links and ways to get to him. She told him that a nigga named Red had been down with Jay for years and had his back through the worst, but he was sick of Jay’s bullshit, so it wouldn’t be hard to convince him on the right time and day. Once their food arrived, they dived in and Coco continued to school Peanut on the ins and outs of Jay’s operation.

“So, exactly why are you doing this again?” he asked her as they were walking out to their cars.

“I know it’s crazy and out of the blue. I guess you could say I’m just tired of him fucking innocent people over. That poor girl he’s engaged to now just doesn’t gave a clue what kinda monster he is,” Coco said after sighing. They both left with their own individual thoughts. Peanut knew Smoke was still dealing with the kidnapping shit, even though D’Mani was back, so he was going to hold off on telling him. Coco was hoping that Peanut trusted her and didn’t turn on her after getting what he wanted.

  Chapter 23

“You good babe?” Demetrius asked Kamora while holding her hand before going into the courthouse.

“Are YOU okay? I know this is the last place you want to be,” she replied to him.

“You got damn right about that, but I’ll be any and everywhere my baby needs me,” he said and kissed her sweetly on the lips.

“I’m just ready to get this shit over with. And I pray I don’t kill this bitch,” Kamora said before they walked inside. The last couple of days had been unexplainable. They hadn’t decided what they were going to do about finding out the paternity of D’Mani, but they both agreed that it needed to be determined since the issue was brought up. Demetrius let it be known that he loved Dee already and nothing could change that. He told Kamora he loved that little boy with all of his heart and, if by chance Trish was telling the truth, he wouldn’t be able to love him any more than he already did.
