Alyssa looked at Nell, and she nodded. Ivy was definitely the type that would be okay with this sort of thing. She then turned to Travis, who was smiling.
“Okay, let’s do this,” she said in a sort of confident manner.
“Great. I can’t wait to discuss this with you,’ he said.
She nodded; feeling a bit shocked right now. She followed him out to his limo, which was parked right in front of the shop. The others were looking at Alyssa with curious glances, and she just flushed red. She didn’t expect this, not at all. But she got in the backseat, and he looked at her with a smile.
“Coffee good with you? I need some,” he said.
“That’s fine,” she squeaked. She just tried to keep herself calm and collected. It wasn’t every day that she got to hang around a man like this. He told the driver some directions, and he did so. Within moments, they were at a hole in the wall coffee shop in the side of town.
“What’s this?” she asked.
“This is a rare coffee joint I like to hit up every so often. It has some great drinks,” he stated.
She nodded, but her bigger concern was the fact that she was alone with him. She wondered how the hell she got so damn lucky, but she wasn’t going to jinx fate.
“Well I guess we should get started then,” she said.
“Oh yes let’s. I’ll have them bring out two lattes. Good with you?” he asked.
“That’s fine,” she replied.
He went to get the drinks, and Alyssa sat in the chair, trying to take all of this in. It totally wasn’t happening, and she totally wasn’t at one of the most popular and best coffee joints in town with the hottest billionaire that she’s ever met.
But here he was, grabbing drinks for them like it was nothing. It was definitely not what she was thinking and she was definitely ready for whatever. He cleared his throat, looking at her with a smile.
“So, you’re probably wondering why you’re here,” he stated.
“Well that would be a nice start,” she replied.
“It’s pretty simple as to why I called you out. To put it simply, my assistant gave you a terrible interview. I don’t know what the hell was going on with him, but he was telling me how under qualified you are, how you have no people skills, and other bullshit.
I thought that he was pulling my leg, so I did my own investigation. That’s why my other assistant was in the shop the last week. Well that, and his boyfriend loves his flowers. He says thanks by the way,” Travis stated.
“Well I’m glad that he likes them. So tell me more about this,” she replied. Alyssa couldn’t believe that the one guy who was bothering her and harassing her was actually saying that.
“Apparently both him and his junior were both harassing you. They were very mad that I actually said that I wanted to have you on my team. I asked them why, and soon I found out. You’re more qualified in your field than either of them ever would be.
I was shocked and mortified by the way that they acted, and after getting some information from Paul, I deduced that they were definitely lying about you for whatever reason. Do you know a lady named Ivy? She has a very big grudge against you. That was the lady who was bothering you,” he said.
Alyssa thought about this, but she didn’t know what to say. “I think I might have gone to school with her,” she replied.
“Yeah, she was saying that apparently you ruined her life. I don’t know what you did, but I can tell that there is some lie around here that is starting to mess with things. Anyways, I actually terminated both of those two without any second thoughts, and now I’m coming to you.
I want you to be the head of personnel for the company, along with my personal assistant. Paul is great, but I think he’s better working in a place that deals with less bullshit. I think you two will work together, and he said that he would be okay with working under you.
So what do you say? Will you take the job? Because I know that you’re not going to say no. I can see it in your eyes,” he told Alyssa.
Alyssa couldn’t believe this. She got a job with him! This was unbelievable, and she was shocked like no other.
“Sure. I’ll do it. But why me? Do you think that I can deal with this sort of thing?” she asked.
“Honey, if you can deal with Carmelita being a bitch to you. You’re fine in my company. Besides, when I heard you call her out, I actually was shocked by that.
I’ve never seen anyone stand up to her, and I know that she gets entertainment out of terrorizing and intimidating the other candidate that come in. I don’t know why, but she almost got off to that sort of thing,” he said.
“I imagine. She seemed to be a bit of a no-nonsense bitch,” she told Travis.
“That’s because she is. Anyways, I want you to do this for me. I don’t want to take no for an answer either, so I would like to have you report to me on Monday at ten A.M.
You will be working under me as the director over the personnel. The job is hard, but you’re definitely the right person for the job, and I like you a lot because of it. So what do you say?” he asked.
He was a bit of a pushy guy when it came to this, but Alyssa knew the answer. She couldn’t believe this was happening anyways, especially since she knew that this was probably something that would never happen again, and she would be getting an opportunity that nobody would probably get unless they were damn lucky.
“Well I can’t say no to a guy like that. I will definitely take the job,” she replied.
“Good. Then you’ll see me Monday, and we can talk about the other stuff there. Man, I feel so bad for how they treated you, but I guess that’s why I should be checking in on my staff more often. I’m far from perfect, but I hope you’re okay with that,” he replied.
She smiled. She was happy to hear that he wasn’t just a guy who thought that he was all-powerful simply because he was a billionaire boss. When he smiled though, she felt it warm her heard.
Alyssa realized that under the hardened disposition, there was a guy within there that was desperately wanting someone to see him, desperately wanting someone to help him out.
“Well I’m definitely not going to say no now,” she replied.
“Good. Then let’s get started. Welcome to the team,” he said.
His rough disposition was back, but mainly because he had to be rough. He had to be the type of guy who was a bit hard to really understand, but one who know what he was doing.
But Alyssa could see past that, and she could see that he definitely needed her. What would happen next was up to them, and she couldn’t wait.
“Good. I’m game,” she replied.
The two of them continued to converse, and she learned a bit about the company. It was a computer software company, one of the best in the world. Some of this stuff she could get from reading his biography online, but some of it was not what he was expecting.
He was definitely talking about the company in a different light, and when he talked about it, he acted almost impassioned by everything. She could tell that he was proud of what he’s created, and it was obvious right then and there that she was working for a great boss.
“Oh and by the way, you will be able to run the flower shop as well. When I saw that you were able to do that, I was pretty shocked. Good job,” he replied.
“Thank you sir,” she said.
The two of them conversed until the end of the day when he dropped her back off at her floral shop. She told Ivy that she got the job, and Nell was practically in tears hugging her.
She was amazed herself, mainly because she never thought that she would ever get to have that sort of encounter with someone like that. It was definitely a sign of good things to come, but a part of her wondered if maybe there was more to this than what met the eye. She would just have to wait and see.
Chapter Three
The first day was definitely not what she was expecting. Alyssa got up early, got herself ready, and then went over to the company. When she walked in, the re
ceptionist’s eyes immediately widened, and she got super excited.
“You’re the one!” she screamed out.
Alyssa stopped, looking at the woman with a glance.
“Pardon?” she asked.
“Well I heard that someone managed to get that bitch Carmelita fired, and I thought that they were joking. But she’s gone. You totally are a lifesaver to the company. I’m Candice by the way,” she said.
She extended her hand, and Alyssa shook it. Candice looked like your average college student who was starved for a job, but she was totally sweet so it was okay that she was like that.
“Well I’m Alyssa. I’m glad that you didn’t like her either,” she replied. She was happy that she did a service to others in the company.
“yeah, she was totally mean to everyone and thought that she was great because she was a former friend of Travis and got the job in that way. Guess cronyism only gets you so far,” the other said.
So she was a friend of his. Why did she get fired then? Was there a reason for that? She would have to ask him about that later.
She wondered what in the world was going to happen. Alyssa was definitely scared of the possible consequences of what might happen next, especially if she even bothered to ask him about it. She might do so at a later date, but for now, that might be a subject that is too personal for them.
So she went to the elevator. She could feel the chills coursing through her body as she pressed the button, feeling both excited and nervous as hell at the idea that she would be working for him. The elevator took her to the top floor, and when she got out, she went to his office. When she got there, she knocked on the door, and he opened.
“There you are. You’re early. Come on in,” he said. His voice was different, a bit meaner in a sense. She wondered why that was, but she wasn’t going to even bother to ask. For now, she was just happy to at least have a damn job. She followed him in, and when they got inside, he closed the door, turning to her.
“So you’re ready for your first day?” he asked. It was more of a statement than a question, probably wondering if she could handle it.
“I think I can,” she replied.
“Good. You have big shoes to fill, but I’m confident that you can do it. Here are all of the files that have to be entered into the computer. They’re new and former personnel files, and I need those for records. I also have a meeting at one today that I need you to sit in on.
I’m going to be having you take notes on different business patterns for me, and to help with any issues that might come up. I know that wasn’t what I told you when we talked last week, but you have an MBA, so you should at least know how to administer a business.
I want to skyrocket my company, and you’re going to help by assisting me,” he said.
Alyssa took all of this in, realizing that she was definitely doing way more than she thought before. It was definitely not what she expected, because she thought that things would be a bit chiller in a sense, but she took it.
She would do whatever it took to impress this man, even if it made her feel like she was about to go insane.
“You got it,” she replied.
“Good. I hope you’re ready, because this is going to be a big change from the pace you’re used to,” he said.
His voice was rough, but Alyssa kind of liked it. It was kind of arousing to hear him like this, but she knew that she couldn’t focus on that right now. She had a company to work for, and she was going to have the best experience she could possibly have.
Alyssa was determined to make this work. She wanted to work with this man, and in a way, she felt like Travis was challenging her to be something that she normally wasn’t, which was a self-sufficient woman.
She wondered if she would be able to make this all work out, and a part of her felt like this might be unlike anything she ever expected before. But then again, Alyssa felt happy that she was even getting this chance, although it felt like a second chance.
“Well I’ll give you what you want then,” she said in a sultry manner.
“I can’t wait to see,” he said.
Alyssa felt something strange when she said those words. She felt a feeling of power, a feeling of lust for him that she didn’t have before. Was she turned on by the fact that she wanted to prove herself to this man?
Seems like a strange thing to be aroused by, but then again, Alyssa definitely did have a very strange outlook on life. She wanted to prove to others that she was worth it, and that she was the best. This man would allow that to happen.
Alyssa started with the personnel files that were nearby. They were of the former employees, and when she looked at Carmelita’s file, she sighed. That woman was quite the bitch, and for whatever reason, she felt annoyed when she looked at the file on hand.
What did Carmelita have against her? That’s what she wanted to know. But when she looked around, she noticed that Travis was gone for whatever reason.
Man, apparently that guy was a hard ass, but trusted her enough to think that she would be all right with dealing with this sort of work. Maybe he was just challenging her to see if she could handle it.
She was ready for this challenge though. Alyssa went to the computer and started to open up the database. She peered into the file, realizing that she was looking at all the information on that bitch.
Apparently, Carmelita didn’t have any higher education besides high school, and she was picked up from a bar as a bartender and started to work at this company.
Well that explains why she was such a bitch to Alyssa. She probably thought that Alyssa was a bar patron and doesn’t know how to treat her with respect. Figures.
But what made her wonder as well, was what the other woman did. Apparently, Carmelita wasn’t that great at her job. She did it, but apparently the company was not growing as much as they should be.
They were losing in some valuable areas, and the employee well-being was at about 55%. That was pathetic, and according to some of the reports, it was because Carmelita was a bitch to everyone and only hired people who were equally as bitchy as she was.
“Well, I guess we’re going to have to do an entire employee cleanout,” she told herself. Alyssa hated that she would have to do this, but apparently this bitch couldn’t tell her head from her ass, much less a good and bad employee. But Alyssa would have to deal with that later.
There were numerous reports on her filed by other people that worked in the company. Reports of her harassing workers, reports of her just being a complete bitch to people, and reports of other such activity. Alyssa glanced over these, realizing that what everyone was saying was kind of true.
She got the bitch vibe from Carmelita whenever she was around her, and apparently the employees hated her. They wrote up what she said to them, and some of the words were unlike anything Alyssa had ever seen a boss say to someone.
It disgusted her, but there was another problem that fell into play when she looked at this.
Why hadn’t she been fired sooner? If Alyssa was Travis, she would’ve fired that bitch the second she was harassing coworkers. She shouldn’t be doing that, and it was just wrong, but apparently she stayed. Why the fuck was that? That’s what really bothered her to no end.
But Alyssa sighed. She didn’t know what to do really, she just kind of waited there, looking around at the place and trying to make sense of everything that had been going on.
Alyssa was confused by this, but she felt like there was a secret here that wasn’t being said, which worried her even more. She was okay with reading about an employee’s bad behavior, but there was another line entirely if the employer wasn’t getting rid of the behavior that was ruining the company.
“How is that work going Alyssa?” the voice said.
She squeaked, turning around to see that Travis was there. His face was calm, but se could tell that he was determined to find out what the status was on everything.
“Oh fine. I’m just working on a thing or two. Sorry
for the delay,” she said.
“It’s fine. I’m going to need you in about an hour for that meeting. Please do show up on time,” he said.
She nodded, feeling the heat rise to her face. For whatever reason, she was feeling jealous. She was jealous of the fact that Travis wasn’t helping her but apparently demanded that she go to a meeting. Was he like this towards Alyssa? Or did they have another relationship altogether.
She shook the thought from her mind. She wasn’t going to get jealous over a woman that didn’t work here anymore. It would be dumb if she did that shit, and she didn’t feel like making herself feel any worse than she did now. She was supposed to stay calm, not have these thoughts invading her every move.
“What the hell am I going to do?” she told herself. She was curious about the past, but at the same time, she didn’t want to spend too much time on this. Alyssa definitely wanted to know what her relationship to him was, especially since it was starting to bother her.
Was she jealous? Maybe, but she didn’t know what else to really say. She wanted to prove to Travis that she was worth the investment, but she had no idea how to. Maybe it was for the best that she waited a little bit before she talked with him about that.
The rest of the day was pretty easy that was until she got to the meeting. When she got there, she stepped inside, and soon she was starting to move herself over to the area where she needed to go. Of course, all of the individuals in there were stately men probably twice her age and looking at her expectantly. Did she do something wrong? What was the problem?
She gulped, wondering why she was feeling this way. After a moment tor so though, Travis was right behind her, breathing against her ear as he said a few words.
“You can take a seat next to me. I need you to take some notes for me,” he told Alyssa with a smile on his face.
Alyssa immediately blushed, wondering how this would work for Travis and her. She was already starting to feel exhausted by the sheer presence of this man, and the fact that he was making her feel like this was only making the situation a whole lot worse.
