“Well, I think it is definitely within your best interests to do so. I’ve been looking at the accounts of the company, and with the rapid increase in production and marketing, if you just us, you can double your sales as well. Plus Travis is a great guy and a killer boss, so what’s not to lose?” she told him.
The man looked at her, shocked for a second at the sheer utterance of her words. But then, he smiled.
“Wow, you’re smarter than I thought. I mean, Ivy would be so surreptitious about that crap, but you just put it right out there. You’re completely different, and I like you a whole lot better.
You picked a good woman Travis. I definitely agree to this. Now, I think we should at least get some sort of contract lined up for the two of us, with the help of Alyssa of course,” the guys aid.
Alyssa smiled, blushing a little bit at the look that Victor was giving her. He was a charming man, one who might not nearly be her type, but still charming nonetheless. After a little bit, she got it written up, and the two of them signed it.
“Well, I think that’s all gentlemen,” she told them.
“That’s right. Thank you Victor, I hope we continue to have a strong business together,” he told the other man.
“You’re very welcome. And here, a present for you Miss Alyssa,” he said.
Alyssa was confused. What sort of present would this man be giving her? She had no clue what, but when he thrust it into her hand, she immediately reddened.
“No way,” she said.
“Yes way. Come call me sometime. I really like a woman like you, and I would love to take you out,” he told her.
The blush that was present on her face seemed to be permanently there. Then, she looked over at Travis, who was both annoyed and perplexed.
“Wow, I guess Victor really does like you. It took about ten meetings before he pulled that trick on Ivy,” he stated.
“Wow,” she replied. So he really did have the hots for her, huh? It felt very strange, very strange indeed, and a part of her wasn’t a fan of the fact that some guys apparently found her attractive even when she wasn’t trying to talk about anything but shop.
Was she just naturally flirty or something? She never seemed to come off that way in the past, but judging from the frown that was pressed onto Travis’ face, he was definitely not too pleased with the fact that she was getting this attention.
Why was that though? Was there something that he wasted to say to her that she didn’t know about? It bothered her a little bit, but maybe he would tell her in due time.
“You okay? It’s not like I’m going to call him or anything. Nice guy, but yeah way too flirty for my tastes,” she told him. She didn’t mind a guy who complimented her every now and then, but that was a bit too forward for her.
“Well, I know that, but I definitely am not happy with it. Besides, it bothers me that he’s trying to flirt with the employees that are obviously mine,” he stated.
“Well I know that it does bother you. To be honest, it bothers me as well, but I guess if he doesn’t push the subject, no harm in just letting it go and move on. Right?” she asked him.
“Right. Yeah, that’s what I really like about you. I mean, you’re honest, smart, funny, caring, and you know better than to flirt with the guys who come on in. You’re just naturally friendly and they take that as being nice, which can be quite the pickle for people like me,” he told her.
“I imagine,” she responded.
“Yeah. Anyways, I think it’s time to meet with Roy. We can talk more about this alter,” he told her.
She nodded, feeling like there was something else that was bothering him, and she wondered as well if maybe, just maybe there was something that he wanted to say to her, like a confession or something.
Maybe she had been watching too many fantasy princess movies, but there was a part of her that deep down wanted him to tell her that he liked her even if it was just a tiny little crush that would never amount to anything.
At least, that’s what she thought at the moment, but she knew that there was something else that he was hiding that he was refusing to tell her, and soon when she found out about it, she would never be the same again.
Chapter Five
The party seemed to be going fine, at least that’s what Alyssa was telling herself. Everyone seemed happy, which was the goal of this whole party, it was to have fun and to network with one another. They were talking, drinking, and a couple were dancing with one another.
But it felt almost like a gathering of the richest business associates and some of the other clientele that were I’m important to the company. It felt strange, because she was expecting a bit more, but maybe they were saving that for later on.
Alyssa had another appointment to make though, and that was the appointment with Roy. It would be a two-hour meeting, because the bastard was very stubborn, and she wondered as well what might happen with him.
She had never met the man in her life, and she wondered as well how he would be in comparison to Victor. Would he be just as bad? Or worse.
Alyssa went to the area where he was, and immediately, she stopped. All around him were various women who were clamoring and talking with him like he was some big celebrity. He was smiling, listening to the women and humoring what they had to say.
It’s not like he really gave a shit or anything, he was just doing it to clamor for attention, which kind of bothered her, but at the same time it made sense that he was doing this sort of thing.
The women seemed to be all over him, and he was talking to all of them like they were his wife or something. Alyssa stepped over, and Roy looked at her, smiling.
“Ahh, so you’re the infamous Alyssa, I take it?” he asked her.
“Yeah, I am. May we meet with you?” she asked.
“That’s fine by me. I like you a lot, you’re very pretty,” he said with a coo.
She blushed, feeling a bit nervous about this whole thing. She never really felt pretty in a sense, she was just happy that he considered her to at least be kind of attractive.
He grasped her hand, causing her to blush even more, and soon she led him over to the office. When she got in there, she motioned for him to go through the door.
“After you,” she offered.
“If you insist. It’s always nice to have a lady go first,” he told her.
She nodded, doing so, but she could feel the gaze boring onto her. What the hell was this dude’s problem? It bothered her to no end that he was pulling this shit.
She wondered as well if there was some sort of target painted on her back, but she honestly didn’t know. The one thing that made no sense to her was the way this bastard was acting. She didn’t seem to be very attractive, but he was hitting on her like no other.
Fortunately, Travis could see this, and he was frowning. Alyssa gave him a pleading look, almost begging that he get Roy off her back.
“Hello there Roy. Now if you could stop flirting with Alyssa, that would be amazing,” he aid to the man.
The guy looked at Travis with a pouty look before sitting down.
“Aww, we were just getting to the fun part. I like your new assistant. She’s more open than the other bitch you used to have. What was her name, Ivy I take it?” he asked the other man.
“Well yeah. But I know that you liked to fuck Ivy, and I’m sure that you would do it again,” he told the other man. He was practically spitting venom at the other dude, and it made Alyssa a bit uncomfortable.
“Oh don’t be like that. Let’s just talk business. Right now isn’t the time to be talking about your women problems Travis. I know that you’re dying to find someone new, but maybe you should just be happy with what you’ve got. You have a great woman at your arsenal and right by your side right here,” the man said.
“You shut up! It’s not like that. Alyssa and I Are just working together, not dating or anything,” Travis said.
“Oh, but you want to be. I can see it in your eyes Travis, I know th
at the second I leave, you’re going to pounce on that. It’s cute really, but maybe she might not like that.
Maybe she wants a man that can treat her right, and not attack her because of his own wanton desires,” he told the other man.
“That’s not what this meeting is about Roy. What I do with someone is my own fucking business, and to be honest, if you care about it so much, we can talk about it later.
Right now, I’m here to talk business, and so is she. I’m sorry, but neither of us are here to talk about our dirty fantasies with you. And even if we were, I doubt that the two of us would even begin to talk about that sort of crap with you,” he told the other man.
“Are you jealous? Cause it sounds like it. Man, I was only complimenting her,” he stated.
“No you weren’t’. Please back off. I’m not comfortable hearing this,” Alyssa stated.
The other man looked affronted by the sheer words that escaped her mouth. Alyssa was the type who wasn’t comfortable with the fact that she was being hit on like this by a guy she didn’t know.
She didn’t like him like that, and it was obvious that it was also hurting Travis. She didn’t want him to think that she was interested in Roy, so shutting him down was the way to go.
“Okay princess. I’ll give in. But only because you’re so cute,” he murmured.
“Will you cut it out Roy? That’s cross,” he told the other man.
The two of them did talk for a bit longer practically duking it out with one another over the fact that Alyssa was cute.
It was kind of annoying, and sort of gross, but she tried to compose herself, knowing that getting mad over this wasn’t the way to go. The only way to really beat this, was to just sit around and wait for them to shut up about it.
Fortunately, after a little while, they finally did.
The two of them completely changed within moment, going from talking about girls and harassing one another to talking about the fact that they wanted to do a merging of the company in the research and development fronts.
Mainly because Roy had one of the best development teams out there, and Travis wanted a piece of that pie. On the same vein, Roy wanted the marketing, so the tow of them dealt with that. After a while, they finally came to a conclusion, and it was definitely better than they thought.
“Well Travis, I think it’s the first time in a very long time the two of us have ever agreed on anything. I think it’s time to celebrate that sort of thing. It’s not something that happens every day,” he told the other man.
“You’re damn right. Man, I can’t believe we actually worked things out. And I still had an hour left of time with you, but I guess we came to an understanding faster than I imagined,” he told the other man.
“Well we can spend the next hour or so talking about the past. About Ivy and such. What happened to her? I missed seeing that tight little ass. I mean Alyssa is so much better because she’s not a bitch, but I’m wondering what caused you to snap and fire her,” he asked.
“Well she fucked up and was harassing people. That’s all you need to know, and that’s all I’m going to tell you,” Travis stated.
“Aww, you don’t want to tell little old me? It’s not like I’m going to spread it everywhere,” he said in a mock sadness tone of voice.
“Bullshit. Everyone know as that you love gossip Roy, and you practically live off of it. Cut the crap,” he told the other man.
“Fine. Well, I guess since we’re done here, we can leave it at that. I hope life is treating the both of you right, and I hope we can meet again. Especially you Alyssa,” he said with a smile.
He slithered out of the room, and after a moment, Travis closed the door, breathing heavily against the surface.
“Jesus Christ that guy is really annoying,” he stated.
“You’re telling me. Just what is his problem?” she asked him.
“Well, the biggest problem is the fact that he’s one of the biggest flirts out there, and it makes me very uncomfortable to be around him for more than just a few minutes,” he told her.
“I imagine. I mean, he definitely was acting a bit crazier than I thought,” she admitted.
“That’s because he digs you. And if you know what’s good for you, you stay away from that. He’s a bit of a monster, and not the good kind,” he told her.
She nodded, listening to this.
“Well, I’m glad to have you. I mean, I would never want to work for a dude like that. Seems like he would do nothing but hit on me,” she told him.
“What’s sad is you’re not too far from the truth Alyssa. He did this a lot in the past, and not just to you or Ivy, but to a lot of other girls. I don’t like it because not only is it disrespectful, but it also scares them away. But I know that some girls love that,” he said with a sigh.
Alyssa was confused by that. Wait, some people actually like it when you act like that? Makes no sense, that’s for sure.
“Well I don’t. I would rather have a man that takes care of me and isn’t just all talk,” she told him.
“Good. I like that about you. You know, you’re growing to be someone that I admire a lot Alyssa, someone that I feel like I can trust,” he told her.
The blush that was present on her face was stronger than ever before, and for a moment, she felt happy and satisfied. The two of them were alone in the room together, and it was obvious that their hands were brushing up against one another.
“Do you ever feel like you want to tell someone something, but you’re terrified to do so because of what it might implicate to others?” he asked her.
She paused, thinking about this for a moment. She hated to say it, but that happened a lot to her.
“All the time really. I mean recently it’s been getting worse for me,” she told him.
“Same. But I’m afraid to let this person know about this just yet. I mean, maybe in the future, but for now, I just want to continue the pathway that we’ve gone so far.
If this person knew about the ghosts and demons of my past, they would probably hate me for it, and I hate to say it, but I would rather not be hated by this person,” he told Alyssa.
Alyssa knew that it was about her. It was obvious that he had some nuance of feelings towards her. But the question was why in the world was he so awkward about it, and why was he acting this way towards her.
It bothered her a little bit because of the fact that she was definitely not happy with the decisions that she was making right now, and she wanted to just scream out the truth to him.
“Well I think maybe once you’re ready, we can talk about this,” she told him.
“Fine by me,” he replied.
The two of them parted, letting the awkward tension start to fester and grow between their bodies. Alyssa knew that he was thinking about something, but she didn’t know what.
She left the area, and after a bit, was back at the party. He was gone, but she could feel someone next to her. She turned, and it was Roy. He grinned at her.
“Hey there Alyssa. Mind if I get you a drink?” he asked her with a mock friendly tone.
“Fine by me. I’ll just have some wine,” she relied.
He went and got it, heading over towards her. He motioned for her to come sit out in the garden, and she did so. Nobody was around.
“So what’s with the interest in me?” she asked.
“I just think you’re pretty. And I mean, you’re nice, and I have a lot to offer, he told her.
“That’s great. But I’m not interested,” she told him.
There was a pause, and she looked at him. Alyssa knew that he tried to put some drugs inside the drink. She could tell from the way that it looked that he altered it. She went over to the plant, dumping it out.
“What are you doing?” he asked her.
“I’m making sure I protect myself. Listen, I’m flattered that you like me and all, but trust me, I’m not into you,” she told him.
“But I thought you were just putting up tha
t front in front of Travis. That’s what Ivy used to do. I mean, she never liked Travis like that, and the two of us had a lot of fun together,” he told her.
That did it. Alyssa looked at the man, gazing at him and wondering just what the hell he was talking about.
“What the fuck are you saying?” she asked him.
“You don’t speak English? Well let me spell it out for you. Ivy and him used to be a couple, but she cheated on him. I figured that you were just acting nice towards Travis because of the fact that you secretly wanted me and didn’t want to hurt his little feelings,” he told her in a mock baby tone at the end.
She was floored by his words. She couldn’t believe that this was the man she just struck a deal with. She got up, wondering what the hell she was going to do now. But then, she did it.
She had never slapped a man before for being piggish, but the sound of her hand against his cheek reverberated through the area. She looked at him, and she realized what she had done, but the remorse that she felt was nothing.
She couldn’t stand for this bastard to get away with hitting on her and being a creep, much less thinking that she w acting this way because she wanted to sleep with him.
“If you seriously think that’s the type of chick that I am, you have another damn thing coming!” she screamed out at him.
“Seriously? Man, you’re hardcore as fuck,” he told her.
“Damn right. I’m not going to stand by and let you continue to be a creep dude. You’re a pig, and I have no interest in you. I’m going to tell Travis what the fuck you did, and you can bet your ass that he’s going to have fun with fucking you up,” she told him.
Before he could respond, she rushed over to the entryway, but then, she saw Travis there. However, instead of being angry with her, he smiled.
“You okay?” she asked him.
“I was about to ask you. I saw what that bastard was doing to you, and I wanted to check in on things. The second I saw you leave with him, I got a big red flag, and I was checking out the scene to see if you needed some protection. Because if you do, I’ll help you out,” he told her.
