RAINBOW
Fluorite
Arguably one of the most beautiful and interesting crystals, rainbow fluorite carries bands of clear color throughout each crystal. Common band colors in rainbow fluorite include blue, violet, purple, green, aqua, and pink. Cleanse and charge rainbow fluorite after every use to keep its clear vibrational energy pure. Protect from scratching. Don’t use water or salt to cleanse this crystal.

Fuchsite
Also known as chrome mica, fuchsite is a green, rough stone with a sparkle to it when the mica catches the light. When polished, it ranges from light to deep green, and it often occurs with bits of ruby in it (see Ruby in Fuchsite here). It is commonly known as a healer’s stone.

This semiprecious gemstone is transparent and translucent and characterized by deeply vivid colors.

Hematite
Hematite is a deep red to silver lustrous crystal that has a metallic sheen when polished. Hematite is made of iron oxide. Its root, hemo, comes from the Greek word for blood and refers to the red color. Many people believe hematite is magnetic, but this is true only of artificially magnetized hematite. Stick with natural hematite.

A Herkimer diamond is a double-terminated clear quartz point (points at both ends). The crystal is clear, although it may have a few inclusions. It is a very high-vibration stone.

Howlite
You’ll often find this white stone with black bands dyed a vivid turquoise blue. It is then used in jewelry as an inexpensive replacement for turquoise or lapis lazuli, because when it is dyed it has a similar appearance. If you’re looking for the properties of turquoise (see here) or lapis lazuli (see here), then make sure you’re not looking at dyed howlite, as the properties differ between the stones.

Iolite
Iolite—also known as water sapphire—is a lovely indigo or violet clear stone. It often has a tinge of gray in it as well. It gets its name from the Greek word ion, meaning violet. It is a moderately hard stone, but it is best to keep it protected when it is used with other stones.

Iron Pyrite
Iron pyrite is known as fool’s gold for a good reason: it looks a lot like gold but doesn’t have the same value as the precious metal. You may find it as gold flecks within a darker stone, or you may find full nuggets or cut shapes of iron pyrite. It is opaque with a shiny golden luster.

The most common color of jade is watery green, but jade comes in many other colors, including white, purple, red, and black. Green jade helps improve relationships via the heart chakra. White jade aids focus and decision-making. Purple jade facilitates the discovery of inner peace. Jade is smooth with a translucent, creamy quality. It is a very popular semiprecious gemstone used in jewelry and carvings. Don’t use water or salt to cleanse this crystal.

Jasper
Jasper comes in many colors. All are opaque with bands or spots running throughout. It often has interesting natural designs, which you’ll see in the polished stones or slabs. While the uses below apply to all jasper crystals, green jasper tends to create harmony in relationships, red enhances vibrancy and passion, and yellow strengthens perseverance.

Jet
Jet looks like an opaque, dark black rock. It may be tumbled smooth, polished, or in its rough form. It has a dark, waxy but dull luster. It may also be called black amber, although it isn’t a form of amber. Instead, it is fossilized wood that, over time, has turned into lignite coal.

In its rough form, kyanite looks like a long slab with blades. When polished, it is smooth with a soft luster. The stone may be transparent or it may be opaque. You may also find blades of kyanite embedded in larger pieces of stone. Don’t use water or salt to cleanse this crystal.

This rich blue stone is opaque with veins of gold or white running through it. In the middle ages, lapis was ground and used as ultramarine, a pigment for oil paints. Some manufacturers dye howlite (see here) to look like this stone, so it is important to make sure you are using genuine lapis lazuli.
