“Fantastic.” Tae told me. My suddenly changed, and the storm disappeared.
“Thanks!” I told him excited.
“Now we know you need to change your mood before you use this.”
“Yes, it was a lot easier this time. Oh, and I’m still standing here, not on the ground passed out.” I told him laughing.
“That’s right, and that’s because you released only the energy from the lightning, not your own.” He told me. It made sense. We kept trying to practice getting the thunderstorm to start without me feeling anger, but no luck.
“Hey guys. Finally. I’ve been walking around for an hour trying to find you.” Kierce has now joined us.
“Yeah, that’s good. Exactly what I wanted. I didn’t want strangers walking by and seeing this. It’s never good to get humans involved.” Tae told us. I felt a sudden urge of attacking Kierce. I didn’t understand why. I wanted to put my hands around his throat and kill him.
“Tae, get Kierce out of here. Something’s wrong.”
“What do you?” Tae responded.
“Kierce, what did you do. I don’t know what’s happening, but I’m guessing I has something to do with me being a watcher, and I want to rip you apart. Get out of here now!” I screamed. I was no down on my knees, holding myself down. I wanted to scream and destroy Kierce right where he stood. There was no more love here, only hate.
“Kierce, get out now.” Tae yelled at him.
“Why am I supposed to leave? Amabel what’s wrong? Why are you acting like this? It’s just me!” Kierce told me. I didn’t feel like that. All I felt was a hunter interfering. A hunter that did something wrong.
“Kierce, get the fuck out of here!” I screamed louder. He still didn’t listen to me. Tae looked hopeless. He didn’t know what was going on as well as Kierce himself. I on the other hand, just got all my answers.
“Her being a watcher is about to finish. She is fully transferring. It’s her nineteenth birthday. I forgot. Kierce, get out here before it’s too late. She’ll rip you apart. I don’t know her abilities, but they will come out to their full potential if you don’t leave.” Tae tried explaining to him.
“No, I’m not leaving! This is ridiculous! Amabel, you know me! I love you Amabel! Don’t do this!” Kierce screamed. I couldn’t help it anymore. My love for Kierce disappeared and the watcher came in within in. I now knew what I had to do. I knew what I had to do as the last watcher.
I rose off the ground and stared into Kierce’s eyes.
“If you don’t leave. I will kill you. This is not my choice. This is the choice of a watcher. You have broken the watchers’ law, and have hunted a human.”
“Wait, what. No.. I…”
“Kierce Pence, you hate hunted a human today.” I told him. This wasn’t me talking anymore. I would never hurt Kierce, but me as a watcher, wanted to destroy him.
“Amabel, I’m sorry. How did you know though? I didn’t kill him. It was a traveler. I just wanted to taste human blood. My father never told me not to. Amabel, please!”
“Kierce, get out. Now!” tae screamed at him.
“Tae, I can’t. I can’t believe I did such a thing, but I won’t leave. If she wants to kill me, so be it. I can’t live without her love. I just can’t.” Kierce cried out.
“Listen, this isn’t fully her talking. She will still love you after this. You need to leave. She won’t be able to control herself any longer! Please go!” Tae screamed at him. I could see Kierce looking back at me, and I knew he was ready to go. As the last watcher, I couldn’t let that happen. I fully got up to my feet now, and all I saw was Kierce. Him running away will be not a choice. As I was looking at him, I felt it within me. I felt the power of the watcher. I felt unbeatable. With a simple thought in my mind, it was the biggest storm of the year. I wasn’t going to use electricity though. Within seconds, Kierce was now on the ground screaming in pain. I was torturing him with every bad thought I had. I made a fist, and was about to break every bone in his body with a simple thought. I knew I was capable of it, and there wasn’t anything that could stop me. As I stared at him being tortured, I laughed at his pain.
“Fucking hunter.” I said laughing. “This is my revenge. This is for what you have done.” I continued laughing. As I was about to put the last straw on killing him, Tae attacked me. He wasn’t a lycan, yet a simple human who distracted me from hurting Kierce.
“Amabel, snap out of it! You don’t want to kill him. This is not the hunter you need to hurt. Come back to me my love.” I heard Tae saying to me. He was pinning me down on the ground. I knew I could easily get Tae off of me. I didn’t need to use strength, All I needed to do was make a simple thought. Before I could continue, he kissed me. I felt Tae’s soft lips against mine. I suddenly felt warmth, and love came back into my heart. I kissed Tae back passionately, and no such thing as hate was inside me. I suddenly realized what I have just done.
“Kierce!” I screamed, stopping Tae and pushing him off me. “Oh my god, what have I done!” I screamed, running over to Kierce. He was laying on the ground, in terrible pain. I could feel what I have done to him, and felt everything he did. “Oh Kierce, I’m so sorry!” I started crying trying to hold him. He was in too much pain to even look back at me.
“Amabel. You are very strong when the watcher come within you. You almost broke every bone in his body with a simple thought. I read everything you were thinking. You need to help him!” Tae yelled. I knew he was right. How could I have done such a thing to someone I loved. I couldn’t believe I didn’t feel any love when I was hurting him.
“Kierce, oh I’m so sorry. Kierce please stay with me. I love you, please stay with me.” I cried to him. I wanted to heal him. I wanted to hold him and make the pain stop. I tried collecting all the energy within me and send it towards Kierce, but failed. He was laying there almost dead, and I couldn’t do a thing! I tried again, and failed.
“Tae, I can’t help him! I can’t send my energy to him!”
“You need to relax. You are too worked up right now. It’s not going through for a reason. Find it within you again, and send it to him almost with a shock.” He told me. I did as he said. I took in a few deep breathes, and collected all the energy I had. I put my arm on his chest where his heart would be, and sent all the energy I could. I felt the warmth within me once again. My vision started to blur, and I felt the electricity running though my arms. I sent it into him with force, until I had no more. I opened my eyes to see Kierce looking at me. As I see him smile, my mind goes empty.
Chapter Eleven – War
When I woke up the next day, something felt strange. It wasn’t the usual surrounding. I didn’t only feel Kierce and Tae being here but I felt someone else. Someone I have not met yet, or seen. I suddenly got up, and ran out of the room. I realized Tae didn’t wake me up today, and Kierce was probably still hurt. I didn’t know if I healed him fully.
“Kierce! Tae!” I screamed. No answer. Where were they? I could feel them, but I couldn’t see them. I checked to see if they were in the other bedroom or the bathroom. No one. Last place to check would be outside. I stepped outside, and got blinded by the sun. It was amazing out. So beautiful and warm. I didn’t need my winter coat today, that’s for sure. I looked out front and didn’t see a soul. As I went to check in the back, I heard someone laughing. It was Tae and another voice.
“Oh, Amabel is awake!” Tae said excited. He wasn’t with Kierce, but someone new. A stranger. It was another man. He didn’t look much older than Tae. His skin was the same as Tae’s, and mine for that matter. Tan and muscular. His eyes were bright blue and his hair a deep burgundy color, but very short.
“Hello, Amabel.” The stranger said to me. “I’m James, your brother.” My brother? No, I didn’t have one. I was an only child. How much more could my mother hide from me.
“Is this true?” I looked at Tae in confusion.
“Yes my love. This is your brother. You’re blood brother. Not from Richard, but your
real father.” He told me.
“How could it be though?” I didn’t know how to take this in. All my life I had a brother unknowingly.
“Amabel, my name is James Black. I have our father’s last name. Our father… disowned me.. if that’s the right way to put it. This happened many years ago. Right before you were born.”
“Why did he do such a thing?” I asked.
“I am a lycan, like Tae. He did not approve of it.”
“Approve of it? Are you kidding me? You’re his son! Why would he need to approve you in any way.”
“Our father was a difficult man.”
“Difficult? This is absurd!” I was furious with how my father made his choice on having a son or not. I don’t understand how a father could do such a thing to his own son. “How have you lived all these years?”
“I pretty much have lived by myself. I have met others like me. For a while, I was in a pack with them. But soon after, stepped away, and tried to find you. When mother used to contact me, she used to tell me about you. Then, she suddenly stopped and I lost full contact of anyone I ever knew. With that, I enjoyed life as much as I could, hoping one day, I’ll at least find you.”
“This is horrible. Oh James, I’m so happy. I wish you were in my life all along. I needed a best friend though out my life.”
“I know Amabel. This wasn’t my choice though. I do have to tell you one thing though. I at first did not transform into a lycan for a very long time. I grew up until now, and then stopped. I think I’ve been about twenty five for the last five years. When I passed by a few other lycans. They have told me the hunters are closing in all over Alaska. I than thought of you, and how you will need my help. I’m the only one that knows what you really are capable of.” This is great in a way. If he knows what I can do, he can show me more.
“Great! Will you practice with me?” I asked him.
“Yes, I will be more than happy to.” He told me, laughing at my excitement. “But I need you guys to fill me in on what has been going on so far. I’ve felt trouble within you Amabel. I didn’t know how to find you, but passing nearby, I caught your scent.”
“Oh James, I’m so happy you did.” I said, running to him with open arms. It was nice to know I had someone so close to me here. Even though this is our first time meeting, it sure didn’t feel like it. He took me in and held me tight. I welcomed him with great honor.
“I’ve missed you sweetie.” He told me. I looked up at him and caught him smiling from ear to ear.
“So, fill me in now. What has happened.” James asked. Tae and I looked at each other, and started from the beginning. We told him all about how Kierce came in to lure me in, and how Tae and I met. I told him in detail on how I was kidnapped and Tae coming to save me. The most important things, were my abilities. We explained how hard it was for me to enhance them, and how angry I had to get to use them. James didn’t seem surprised. What he did seem surprised about was that the watcher came in within in me towards Kierce.
“I could expect that happening since he fed from a human, just not how you attacked him since you have such love for him.” He told me. I knew that, and was also surprised at that fact. Speaking of Kierce.
“Where is he?” I asked looking at Tae.
“Since he was so weak from your attack, he went out hunting again. He promised it would be an animal.” Tae told me. I looked at him hoping he was right. I didn’t want to get like that towards him again.
“We need to practice Amabel. Well, you do. I don’t want to at the same location since you said you’ve practiced here before. I want to go somewhere with new surroundings and I have the perfect place. Don’t seem amazed by this, but I owe a mini plane. I built it since I had so much free time, and that’s how I traveled everyone.” As he said that, he gave us a small giggle. “You guys want to see it?” He told us. Of course we did. We walked about half a mile into the woods, and came to his plane. It was a white color with red stripes. It looked small enough to fit about four people.
“So, what do you guys think about my master piece.” James said to us with sarcasm.
“Absolutely stunning.” I told him laughing. We got onto the plane and headed to where James has planned to go. He told us it would take a few hours since the plane didn’t have the best engine. I didn’t mind. I was looking forward to spending some time with my brother. In a way, it was weird thinking I had someone related to me. Someone part of my family, yet I never knew him until today. How could I have not known, or even felt it. In other words I guess, when someone disowns you, you really aren’t part of the family anymore.
It has been only about an hour since we’ve been in the air. I loved seeing Alaska from up top. I never had the chance to enjoy such a beautiful view. All the mountain tops covered in snow that was glaring from the sun. The rivers that were only half covered with ice and the trees that were flourishing green, from the spring that was coming. It was truly amazing. I didn’t get to enjoy it long enough though. I felt the plane tremble. I looked out the window on the right, and saw nothing. As I looked on to the left, I saw someone. A hunter. As the plane started trembling more and more, I saw not only one of them, but maybe close to five now. I could see the fear raising in my Tae’s eyes, as well as my brothers. We knew we were going down. I didn’t know if Luthius was involved yet, but it really didn’t matter. It was life or death right now. The plane started going down, and the hunters disappeared. I could hear Tae’s heartbeat racing, and my brother’s eye started to widen. There was absolutely nothing we could do.
“I can’t get control of the plane!” My brother screamed.
“Do something!” Tae screamed already knowing the answer.
“Tae, I can’t. We’re going down.” James said calmly now. Tae looked at me and came closer to hold me tight. The comfort of his body calmed me from the fear. Now, I only had the fear for my loved ones. It had nothing to do with. I backed away from Tae. I now felt the familiar feeling. It was hate, and anger for the hunters. They were going to kill us and had no remorse. How could someone be so heartless. Why would they kill people who have done nothing to them. Lycans don’t stop them from anything, they only keep an eye on the watchers. It was me they wanted, not them. Without being able to fully stand on my feet, I fell on my knees. I opened the door of the plane and felt the air hit my face. We were going straight down. I started to get another familiar feeling. The feeling of a watcher. I smelled the hunters, and their feeding of humans. They broke the watchers’ law, my law. My body started to tremble and I felt more hate come to me. All I wanted to do was scream and let out the fury.
“Tae! Those blood suckers better be prepared for war!” I screamed. I felt a force on my arms, and tried lifting them up. It felt as if I was trying to pick up two of my body weight. With greater force, I pushed my arms up higher and higher. With my mind fully focused on the hunters, and my loved ones in danger, I started controlling the plane. It slowed down more and more as we flew down. I looked below us, and saw land.
“Amabel, keep going! It’s working!” James screamed from the front.
“I can’t hold it!” I screamed.
“Try!” He yelled back. I could feel what they were feeling. The fear they had. With greater force, I fully lifted my arms. The plane slowed down more, but it didn’t look like we’d make it. We were too close to the ground, and I could see every detail of the flourishing trees. With more anger built inside me, I fully stopped the plane. With only a slight bump, we landed.
I looked at Tae and James, and their eyes were filled with amazement. Without a word, I stepped out of the plane.
“Amabel, we need to get out of here. Hop on my back, we run faster than you.” James told me. I didn’t listen. I felt the watcher inside me. I felt all the power I had at that moment, and I wasn’t going to pass it up. I started walking into the woods, straight for the hunters. I could smell their skin, and the human blood they drank. I could feel it running through their veins.
“Amabel n
o! You haven’t fully enhanced your abilities! Amabel!” I heard Tae scream. I didn’t care. I couldn’t feel anything but fury. As I walked I felt the ground shake. I didn’t know if it was me or the thunder that came from the sudden storm. I could feel my eyes getting wider, and my veins pumping blood. My heartbeat got louder, as well as the hunters’. They were close, too close.
“You blood sucking demons! Get out here, now!” I walked to a stop. I could hear their breath, yet I saw no one. “You lousy bustards. What, are you too scared to come out?” I screamed towards them. They were coming out, and I got a wide smile on my face. This wasn’t going to be just a fight.
“You want me? Come and get me!” I screamed. They lined up in front of me. I could see about ten. I gave another smile.
“Little girl, little girl.” One of the hunters said smiling. “Will it be you against us this lovely night?” He added.
“No, it will be you against two lycans, and the last watcher. So walk away before it’s too late.” Tae said, stepping in with me, as well as James. With Tae on my left and James in my right, this was going to be better than I thought. Still feeling the watcher within in me. I was ready to fight.
“Well then, I declare this a war.” The hunter said, who seemed like the leader of them all. With a smile on my face, I felt it all within me. I looked to each of my sides, and saw Tae and James change. Tae with his black and white fur on my left as before, and James with his brown and black fur on my right.
“Oh, it’s on.” I told the hunter. The tension between us blew off the charts. With a simple thought and a clenched fist, I brought one hunter to the ground. I had no remorse for any of them. I’ve never even seen any of their faces before. If they were going to kill us, I was going to fight right back. I saw the other hunters looking at the one I put to the ground, and for my enjoyment, I crushed him slowly. With their eyes in surprise, they looked back at me and seemed ready to attack. I saw Tae and James run at them. They took out two more with no problems. The other seven seemed stronger, and were helping each other to fight off Tae and James. Suddenly, the hunters did not look the same as before. It was as if they turned into something else. Their pale skin was now a grayish color with red veins popping out of every inch of their body. They did not look human, or any hunter. They looked like straight creatures. Staggers! I heard Tae scream to me in my mind.
