  Hisuru Amajoo: The city fortress home of the Nhia-Samri. Situated in a hidden location in the mountains west of Nasur.

  Hopu Rinyaru: A unified kingdom of displaced Duianna citizens and the remains of the Nhia-Samri city-state of Hisuru Amajoo. Established by treaty accepted in the Duianna Assembly in the War of Hope of 15292. Hopu Rinyaru was originally the southern portion of Laeusia, taken over by the Nhia-Samri. Its borders were ratified in 15293 as being from the eastern border of Yalthum to the western border of Nasur spanning between the latitudes of 8° north and 2° south. Capital: Lumendaria. Ruler: King Maru-Ashua, Grand Warlord of the Nhia-Samri. Abbreviation: HR.

  Hyly: A semi-sweet liquor made from honey.

  Innadyt: the sixth month of the Imperial year considered the third and final month of summer. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Journeyman Mage: Title of a mid-level magician for the Argos Guild of Mages; carries a unique badge of office and is seen as a direct representative of Argos.

  Karakia: A mixed nation of tribes spanning the central part of the South Duianna continent, from the Darain Ocean on the east, to the Occiduis Ocean on the west. The northern border is the Circumveni Desert, and on the south, the Dulgrium Nation. Capital: None. Primary gathering: Summer solstice in Wakiza Valley. Ruler: None, however each year a speaker for the tribes is named at the Wakiza Valley gathering of tribes. Also, there is a deadly warrior competition to be the speaker’s companion, adviser, and guard known as Honor Warrior Guide. Speaker for the tribes: Great Chief Otoahhastis. Honored Warrior Guide: Eyota. Abbreviation: KA.

  Khab: (vulgar slang) (verb: khab; 3rd person present: khabes; past tense: khabed; past participle: khabed; gerund or present participle: khabing) express displeasure; grumble. (synonyms: complain, whine, grumble, grouse)

  (noun) 1. a spiteful or unpleasant woman. 2. a difficult or unpleasant situation or thing. 3. a complaint.

  Kiliun Lol: Primary research station for advanced secret Elracian research. Conducted dangerous experiments using secondary facility called Niuni Lol.

  Kishadyt: The eighth month of the Imperial year considered the second month of fall. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Kliasa: The daughter of House Elaeus of Rea-Na-Rey.

  Knife: An assassin or hired killer, strongly controlled by a secretive guild.

  Laeusia: A human kingdom that lies between the Duianna Empire and the Kingdom of Yalthum. Laeusia was originally a Duianna Empire barony that was made into its own kingdom by the Duianna Covenant of 5231. Capital: Pentegull. Ruler: King Brinus Laeusia, Heir Apparent Princess Sheila Laeusia. Regent Lord Madiyaa Isran. Privy Councilor: Lord Anduelo. Abbreviation: LA.

  Lahmudyt: The ninth month of the Imperial year considered the third and final month of fall. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Larak: The Lion Lord, God of Archery, Healing, and Guards. Larak is said to guard all cities that pay tribute to his wife Dalpha. His symbol of a winged lion can be found in every city of the Duianna Empire on the guard offices. A statue of a roaring, winged lion stands watch over the arched entry of the palace in Gracia, as well as any major government building throughout the Duianna realms. Legends state Larak was the commander of the Meassatoni Army, charged with protecting all of the cities of the Gods. Although he traveled often, he lived and spent much time in Aridu-Veni-Kussi with Dalpha.

  Lebuin of House Caerni: Born 15268 in Llino and raised in Llino. Son of Waylen and Alia, Grandson of All Father Lord Argos and Lady Lothia. Although a God, Lord Lebuin lives as a Dagger working with Ticca of Rhini Wood.

  Llino: The Sea Princes’ stronghold and capital. Notable places: Blue Dolphin Inn, the Night Market.

  Lodi: The day of the week before Vendi and following Merdi. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Loehesh Pattern: A specialized magical filter that alters the state of mana. Once mana has been transformed by the filter it gains a surface tension like ability and can be held by mages almost like a physical ball, while still being usable as a power source for incantations.

  Lords and Ladies: Also Lords or Ladies. A polite expression used to indicate surprise or give emphasis. Also, used as a euphemism for any deity.

  Loren Sound: An inlet of the Darian Ocean bordering the southeastern part of the north Duianna Continent.

  Lothia: The Raven. Primary Goddess of Karakia and wife of Argos. She often takes the form of a large raven.

  LUMED: Light-Unit-Microbot-Emitter-Displays.

  Lumendaria: Capital city of Hopu Rinyaru. See Hopu Rinyaru.

  Lundi: The day of the week before Martidi and following Solidi. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Mage (pl. mages): The common informal term for wizards, or sorcerers, or magicians. The term may be used to refer to female or male.

  Magus (pl. Magi): A higher magician who has achieved the rank of master in the Guild.

  Magus Andros: A fifty-year master mage of the Argos Guild of Mages and Lebuin’s mentor at the Llino Guildhouse.

  Magus Cune: A twenty-five-year master mage of the Argos Guild of Mages and Lebuin’s nemesis for all of Lebuin’s twenty years at the Llino Guildhouse.

  Magus Gezu: A seventy-year master of the Argos Guild of Mages that died in the summer of 15348.

  Magus Nillo: High councilor and a sixty-year master mage of the Argos Guild of Mages and Lebuin’s mentor at the Llino Guildhouse.

  Magus Seriel of Elraci: An ancient mage who wrote the secret tombs of magic Lebuin acquired and studied.

  Magus Vestul: An immortal master mage who predates the Argos Guild of Mages. Close friend of Duke. Lives in Algan.

  Mana: The energies of magic which travel through and around the worlds of Yur’s Universe. Mana takes on the influences of the materials it passes through and is also used or generated by living creatures. Mana is a form of energy which can be controlled and made to do work as well as be converted to matter. Mana measured in ancient times in units of rellum.

  Mark: A period of time equal to a twenty-fourth part of a day and night and divided into 60 minutes. The name ‘mark’ is based on the tick marks used on all clocks. (see Lebuin’s Lexicon–TIME)

  Martidi: The day of the week before Merdi and following Lundi. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Menadyt: The first month of the Imperial year considered the first month of spring. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Merdi: The day of the week before Lodi and following Martidi. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Miniath-Tur: A great fortress complex at the center of the universe where the All Father Lord Argos sits on his throne constantly overseeing all things and keeping magic flowing for all.

  Minute: A period of time equal to 60 seconds or a 60th of a mark. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Miumi: Port trade city on the Loren Sound on the eastern border of Oslald.

  Muriel Neyon-Banaschel: Countess Muriel Neyon-Banaschel born in 10289 in Waylisia, an Imperial province on the eastern border of the Imperial capital of Gracia. She was also the last chief systems engineer for the Duianna Empire. See Electra.

  Nabudyt: The seventh month of the Imperial year considered the first month of fall. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Nae-Rae: An elven kingdom spanning the eastern third of the North Duianna continent, bordered on the north by the White Ocean, the south by the Burga Mountains, the east by the Darain Ocean, and the west by the Duianna Empire. Nae-Rae is a member of the Duianna Alliance, but is not part of the Duianna Empire. Capital: Rea-Na-Rey. Ruler: Lady Saba-Arrur, High Lady of Nae-Rey. Abbreviation: NR.

  Nanadyt: The third month of the Imperial year considered the third and final month of spring. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Nasur: A human kingdom on the southeastern edge of the North Duianna continent, bordered on the north by the Onasa Channel, the south by
the Halias-Ne Mountains, the east by the Sea Princes’ Kingdom of Aelargo, and the west by the Western Burga Spine Mountains. Oslald was originally the Duianna Empire province of Megea. It was renamed the Kingdom of Nasur after, and granted to, Imperial Cousin Lord Sesitak Nasur by the Duianna Covenant in 5231 for his heroic conduct with Lord Oslald preventing war with the Rhonian Empire in the Reislen Bay Kidnapping of 5230. Nasur supports the Duianna Covenant but is known to be friendly with the Nhia-Samri. Capital: Thilis. Ruler: King Helman Nasur with Regent Lady Adurh Chena. Abbreviation: NA.

  Newton: The scientific unit of force used in the original non-magical universe. It is equal to the force that would give a mass of one-thirteenth of a stone (originally known as a kilogram) an acceleration of one meter per second.

  Nhia-Samri: A shadowy, ruthless mercenary group of warriors of unknown size, who fight with inhuman speed and agility.

  Nigan of Eppon: A combat specialist Dagger who works out of the Blue Dolphin Inn in Llino. Partners with Risy and is called “Hairy” by Ticca.

  Night Market: A unique black market in Llino, in which any service or goods may be purchased through brokers known as Hands. The market opens every day at sunset and closes at sunrise.

  Ninurdyt: The twelfth month of the Imperial year considered the third and final month of winter. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Niuni Lol: Secondary research station for Kiliun Lol. One of a pair of secret advanced Elracian research labs built for dangerous experiments.

  Niya-Yur (Yur): The world. The elves called the world Nhia in ancient times. The dwarves called the world Garduan-ka-Gadriel (Loosely translated, it means Gadriel’s Flesh).

  Niya-Ziel (Ziel): is one of the seventeen Duianna Imperial worlds built at the founding of the universe. It is home for three Duianna Union citizen species, the Zielats, Urganthiats, and Bratinians. Niya Ziel is named after the dominant humanoids’ home world. The Juntiath House immortals have adopted Niya-Ziel as their symbiotic-protectorate.

  Odassi: Single-edged magical weapons of the shadowy faction of warrior mercenaries called the Nhia-Samri.

  Onasa Channel: Inlet of the Loren sound, which traverses through hundreds of miles of canyons northerly, to the great Empire Lakes, generally salt water transitioning to fresh water near the Empire Lake outlets. Also known as the Onasa River.

  Orahda Ima: Weapons master for the Kingdom of Aelargo, personal trainer for Lord Dohma Gerani-Uriosal, current regent ruler of the Kingdom of Aelargo. Orahda Ima is an alias for Amia-Dharo adopted to hide from the Nhia-Samri during the 40 years he was hunted for betraying Shar-Lumen. See also: Terms: Amia-Dharo.

  Oslald: A human kingdom on the southeastern edge of the North Duianna continent, bordered on the north by the Burga Mountains, the south by the Sea Princes’ Kingdom of Aelargo, the east by the Onasa Channel, and the west by the Darain Ocean. Oslald was originally the Duianna Empire province of Steosae. It was renamed the Kingdom of Oslald after, and granted to, Imperial Cousin Lord Nimri Oslald by the Duianna Covenant in 5231 for his heroic conduct with Lord Nasur preventing war with the Rhonian Empire in the Reislen Bay Kidnapping of 5230. Oslald has remained a strong supporter of the Duianna Covenant. Capital: Stegen. Abbreviation: OS.

  Patredyt: The fifth month of the Imperial year considered the second month of summer. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Poalua: Lord of Air and Yur, twin of Uialua, chief God of the Circle, and according to legends, was once ruler of all the Gods. Poalua is the God of Laeusia, although he does not ban temples to other Gods. His symbol is a feather-robed and turbaned archer figure, seated in a throne and superimposed on a sun disk with fire around the edges. Legends also say he created a crystal city at the center of heaven, which was visible to all the realms of the heavens, called Thi-Illi-Veni (literally Brightest Star City), which touched no lands or seas and floated over all of creation, giving light.

  Red Door: A high-class brothel.

  Rellum: A scientific unit of measure for mana, abbreviated RL. The scale the RL unit of work or energy, equal to the work done by a force of one Newton, when its point of application moves one meter in the direction of action of the force. When used in physical construct equations, one rellum is the necessary energy to produce one-thousandth of an ounce of carbon.

  Rhini Wood: The old-growth forest along the northwestern edge of Bear Foot Sea in the Kingdom of Aelargo. Also the name of the village and farming lands in the same location.

  Rhonia: The largest main continent six hundred leagues east of the Duianna Empire eastern coastline. Home of the Rhonian Empire. Also, used to refer to any of the hundred plus islands that are part of the Rhonian Empire.

  Rhonian Empire: A vast empire of eastern islands founded by Rhonias III after 834 p.m. and brought to the height of its power and glory by his daughter, Ruth I, and her sons, Amizin and Eluar, from 974 to 1024 p.m. The empire extends over three thousand leagues, and the waterways between the islands are fiercely patrolled.

  Risy of Eppon: A combat specialist Dagger who works out of the Blue Dolphin Inn in Llino. Partners with Nigan and is called “Frumpy” by Ticca.

  Runa-Illa: A converted Nhia-Samri warrior who is now the high priestess and first disciple of Lord Lebuin. Runa-Illa lives and works out of the Blue Dolphin Inn with Lord Lebuin and Ticca.

  Samudyt: The fourth month of the Imperial year considered the first month of summer. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Saturdi: The day of the week before Solidi and following Vendi, and (together with Solidi) forming part of the weekend. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Sayscia: The high priestess or the great lady of Dalpha in Llino.

  Sea Princes’ Kingdom of Aelargo: A human kingdom on the southeastern edge of the North Duianna continent, bordering on the northern edge of the Halias-Ne Mountains, between the Darain Ocean and the Kingdom of Nasur. Capital: Llino. Abbreviation: AE. Commands the largest known navy and tightly controls all sea trade.

  Second: Is the smallest unit of time measurable by available clocks and is of time equal to one-sixtieth of a minute. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Sencial (aka Sentient): An artificial life form that lives in the ancient machines and technologies. Sentients are not machines but life forms created by the non-magical races before coming to Niya-Yur. When Niya-Yur was settled, Sentients were considered alive, with all the same rights as any other intelligent race. They were voluntarily put to sleep as the old societies fell, by an act of the assembly, to wait for the time of the races’ re-ascension.

  Sharludyt: The tenth month of the Imperial year considered the first month of winter. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Shar-Lumen: (14223-15292) The Grand Warlord of the Nhia-Samri. Born 14223 in Nae-Rae to the Shar clan. He left Nae-Rae in 14523 with the brothers of the red robes to study their ancient tomes and learn their ways. Kishadyt-14537 Shar-Lumen starts the Nhia-Samri mercenary band based on the ancient descriptions he has learned and mixes a number of tactical and historical references together for the foundation of the group. Shar-Lumen was killed in a royal duel with Ticca ending the War of Hope late in 15292.

  Sharre: A sweet wine made by the elves from unknown ingredients. If kept properly, it grows more potent over time. Five to fifty-year-old sharre is very robust and gives a little energy, as well as making people drunk extremely fast. Sharre over one hundred years old can heal wounds, revive tiredness, and sharpen the mind dramatically. Sharre over five hundred years old is thought to restore youth.

  Skeed: (vulgar slang) (verb: skeed; 3rd person present: skeeds; past tense: skeeded; past participle: skeeded; past tense: skeed; gerund or present participle: skeeding) expel feces from the body. 2. soil one’s clothes as a result of expelling feces accidentally.

  (noun) 1. feces. 2. something worthless; garbage; nonsense. 3. unpleasant experiences or treatment. 4. personal belongings; stuff.
r />   (exclamation) used alone or as a noun the hish or a verb in various phrases to express anger, annoyance, contempt, impatience, or surprise, or simply for emphasis.

  Solidi: The day of the week before Lundi and following Saturdi, and (together with Saturdi) forming part of the weekend.

  Sula: With the death of Lady Dalpha in the War of Hope of 15292 Lady Sula took up her mother’s mantle of Lady of Light, Goddess of healing, woods, and the elves, represented by large temples in almost every major city on Niya-Yur. Her symbol is an oak tree with eight rays of light forming a circle.

  Tarudyt: The second month of the Imperial year considered the second month of spring. See Lebuin’s Lexicon: Time

  Ticca of Rhini Wood: Born in Rhini Wood, a farming and trapping community in the southern section of Aelargo, Ticca trained as a Dagger. She has worked for Gods, and served as the Senior General of the Imperial Armies under the direct command of Duke for the War of Hope of 15292. Ticca maintains a permanent Dagger table in the Blue Dolphin Inn in Llino.

  Uialua: The Great Queen, Lady of Birth. Twin of Poalua. Uialua is worshiped in all nations of Duianna. Her symbol resembles the Greek letter omega (Ω), which should always be placed on the upper tier of any structure, indicating her importance. The Duianna Empire uses her symbol on all of its boundary markers in the top border. Legends state she once was queen of the greatest of heavenly realms, known as Meassatoni, where she ruled from the great city of Aridu-Veni-Kussi (literally Greatest City of Beauty), which she built. It was the birthplace of Argos long before the great migration.

  Urd: (verb) To be condemned by the deities to suffer eternal punishment. “Lord Argos urd you.”

  (exclamation) Expressing anger, surprise, or frustration. “Urd! I completely forgot!”

  (adjective) used for emphasis, especially to express anger or frustration. “Close the urd door!”
