"No." I say back.

"Little fairy, if you want, I can erase their memory of you." He taunts while approaching me with shaky hands. It looks like he's ready to throw a temper tantrum again. Suddenly, my Mom sits up wide awake.

"Elaine, be a good hostess and show your friend around our house. Ah I must have slipped on that cheap rug your father bought earlier this week..." My Mom says while standing up and dusting off her pants. She looks distracted, but then she walks off into the living room.

"What did you do to my mother?" I accuse Viktor.

"Nothing. I simply removed the memory of me grabbing her head and replaced it with you telling her you want me to come along with you to your house in the human world." He scoffs like it's no big deal.

"All this time you could have been messing with my mind!" I shout in a whisper.

"Whose to say I haven't?" He says mockingly.

"You killed Colt, well you sent him Hell-but that's the same as killing him. You kidnap me. You force me to follow you. You barge into my family life and steal my family member's memories away from them. Not to mention you slapped me across the face, dragged me across the floor...you have given me no reason to trust you! You want to use my powers? How do you even think you'll ever get me to willingly bend to your will?" I say raising my voice.

"Quiet or your mother will hear." He says.

"Let her hear me! I'm sick of you! You disgust-" I say while pointing at him and narrowing my eyes.

Before I can finish, he rams into me and puts his hand over my mouth.

"Shut up little one." He says, when I grudgingly nod my head he removes his hand. Gulping for air, I shove myself away from him.

"We will be going with your parents back in the human realm. I need to read your father's memories." He commands.

"Sleep on the couch. I'll be in my room." I say while turning away from him in anger. At least in my room, I can scream like a child into my pillow because of my temporary predicament and no one will hear me.

Forgetting that I'm tied to Viktor still, I start to walk off to head upstairs. However, before I can make it to the stairs, I'm jerked backwards by the rope.

I lift my head over my shoulder giving him a death glare, he only smiles evilly in return.

  Chapter 12-Cursed?

"I think your mother will take us to the human realm right now." He says while lifting in an eyebrow. Right on cue, my Mom comes into the room holding an odd looking pouch.

"Let's go you two." My Mom says in a hollow voice while pouring the contents of the pouch onto the floor. The chalk-like powder coats the floor in a shimmery pool of silver.

No doubt Viktor is the one who made her do this, she looks like she's in some kind of zombie state. I shoot him a glare full of hate.

"We better listen to your mother." Viktor coos.

With a huff, I follow after him.

  ______________________________________

We arrive at my old house, in the human world that is. It's kind of eerie being back in my house after everything that happened in here, I can't help, but let the memories come flooding back into my mind.

"Ah Elaine, I see you brought a friend. We were wondering where you went off to the last couple of days. I'll have to talk to you about that when we get back. I'm sure your mother let you get off the hook, but you can't just wander around the fae realm without telling us." My Dad says while shutting the garage door. He gives my Mom a nod, she still looks dazed, but when she glances at Viktor she says nothing and the zombified look leaves her face.

  "I know Dad." I reply.

"Right then. Your Mom and I will be off at the realtor's, if you want to take anything back to the fae realm, now would be the time to gather those things. When we come back, we'll be leaving to go back. I'd say be ready to go in about two hours, we'll see you then." My Dad says while giving me a tight hug.

  "Okay." I say.

"And don't leave the house." He says sternly before shutting the door behind my Mom.

"And don't leave the house, princess." Viktor says mocking my Dad. Great. Now it's just the two of us.

"I'm guessing your waiting to read his mind later? You might have lost your chance." I tell him in a skeptical tone.

"He seemed in a hurry, I don't want to appear anymore suspicious than I already am. I'll get my chance when it comes." Viktor says defensively.

I roll my eyes and tell him we need to go to my room so I can take a couple of my belongings. Surprisingly, he complies.

When I reach my room, I slide my hand on the smooth surface of the windowsill, picking up a good layer of dust. I then open up the chest at the end of my bed and grab the book I got from that strange store a while ago, the one with the faery drawings inside it.

"What's that?" Viktor says in a bored voice.

"Nothing. Just a book I picked up." I reply shortly. He shakes his head and snoops around my room with an odd curious look. His huge towering frame seems out of place in my small room. He shouldn't even be in my house to begin with.

When he reaches for my dresser, I close my book and walk over to him, blocking his path.

"Why would you want to look through my clothes?" I say angrily.

"Don't you humans hide things in your underwear drawers?" He asks feigning innocence.

"I'm not a human, I'm a faery now." I say while crossing my arms.

"There must be something in here that will lead me to the source of your power." He says gruffly.

"There is nothing in here for you to see. In fact, there is nothing in my room for you to see. Just wait in the hallway." I say sighing.

Suddenly, Viktor grabs my throat, his golden eyes narrowing on me.

"Are you forgetting the reason we are here? If I find no answer to what your powers are, I will dispose of your parents." He threatens in a low tone, while raising me off the ground. I claw at his hand to try and pry his grip away from my throat. Annoyed at my squirming, he slams my head against the wall, sending sparks into my vision. He continues choking me.

I feel my face turn purple, Viktor speaks up again.

"Why are humans so stubborn? You're pathetic..." Viktor grunts while releasing his hold on my neck. I fall onto the ground awkwardly, trying to catch my breath I take deep breaths.

"Well...I must say you were hard to track. Am I interrupting something?" Silvia says from the doorway.

Her voice makes my skin crawl and if I had the energy to attack her, I would.

"Oh I suppose you forgot I was visiting your brother? You might have done me a favor by killing my kindred. I mean I wasn't planning on sharing her powers with any of them." Silvia says while stepping into my room.

How is it the two very people I hate the most are now both in my home at the same time?

"Get out of my house." I say in a shaky voice.

"Or what?" Silvia says while picking up one of my photo frames and dropping it onto the floor.

"Why are you here?" Viktor says suspiciously.

"Isn't it obvious? I came for the girl. And you're going to give me her." She says with a glint in her eye.

"Why would I listen to a witch?" He says impatiently.

"I assure you, I will reward you generously for taking care of the witches." She begins to say. Viktor didn't really kill the witches though, I'm pretty sure the fire killed them, not Viktor.

"Go on." He commands while stepping in front of me, seemingly forgetting my presence.

"In exchange for the girl, I will allow you to use one of the portals in my possession to get to Hell. I know of the situation between your brother and you." She says in a knowing voice.

"That is a tempting trade, although I'm not one to negotiate." Viktor says with a strange tone.

A shocked look comes across Silvia's pale complexion, but she hides it with a serious look.

"I'm giving you the very answer to what you've been looking for. Is it not what you planned to use the girl for to begin with?" She interjects.

"Demons tend to take as much as they c
an, to do that I need her." Viktor says in a guarded voice. His demon form reappears, losing his faerie disguise.

"I was hoping you would take my offer. Looks like I'll just have to take her." She says while stretching an arm in my direction. However, before she can say a peep, Viktor lunges for her and Silvia gets knocked backward into the hall. Of course I'm pulled along like a rag doll, chained to a rabid dog.

"Looks like you're in a little bit of a dilemma, Viktor. What happened to your powers? Did she take them away? I could use that kind of power..." Silvia hisses while landing a punch.

"I don't need any power to kill a witch." He says while managing to lift her up and throw her down the stairs. A sickening crunch resounds from the first floor and I nervously follow behind Viktor.

Silvia's neck is bent in an unnatural angle, her body looks limp.

"Is she dead?" I say in disbelief.

Apparently, I was right to be suspicious, because Silvia manages to say something under her breath before disappearing.

"Witches don't die so easily." He says grimly while brushing off his hands and turning away.

Remembering him choking me, I back away from him. If Silvia never interrupted him, maybe he would have let me choke to death.

I steal a glance his way and nearly fall down the stairs myself before managing to get a grip on the railing.

"Viktor..." I say uneasily while looking over his shoulders.

"What?" he snaps carelessly. Then the things behind his back disappear. I blink my eyes in disbelief, maybe I was seeing things...

As if it couldn't get any worse, Lorcan comes crashing into the house through the front door, flying up the stairs literally to land in front of me.

"You." He says with venom at Viktor.

"Now what?" Viktor says with a glare.

"YOU TOOK HER FROM ME!" He shouts with rage, Lorcan then begins beating up a confused Viktor. Was Silvia right? Did he really lose his powers entering the human world? Even though Viktor lost his powers he manages to land a couple hits on Lorcan.

Lorcan picks up a table and tosses it at Viktor, Viktor ducks out of the way and tosses one of the broken picture frames that fell off the wall in Lorcan's path.

Perhaps, they both forgot or failed to notice that I'm tied to Viktor.

"Lorcan stop!" I yell while tugging on the rope tying Viktor to me, I pull with all my strength to try and get Viktor's attention too.

"A demon has stolen you away and yet you tell me to stop?!" He shouts while continuing to fight.

"I am not an object!" I scream loudly, making the two of them stop.

"Where were you all this time?" I say in a steady voice.

"Investigating, I had to follow the witch to find you. Although I appreciate you taking out Colt." Lorcan says toward Viktor.

Sadness seeps through the cracks in my heart at the mention of his name, a deep rooted pain boils to the surface inside of me.

"Get out." The words leave my mouth just under my breath, foreign to me.

"What?" Lorcan says with shock. He takes a step toward me.

"Get out." I say a little louder, my voice shaking.

"Do you know I never gave up looking for you? Your demon “friend” was killed by the very demon that stands beside you. You tell me to get out? I'm glad Colt's dead, want to know why?" Lorcan says with a deadly look.

He doesn't wait for me to respond.

"Because it's one less demon I have to kill. From the start I told you not to trust him, but you didn't listen to me. Ever thought I might get tired of having to chase after you while your off with other men?" He asks with anger.

"Ever thought, I was worried sick when you left me outside of that bar. You could of told me your plans beforehand, before you went away with Silvia." I say numbly.

"You've changed. That demon deserved to die, he's the one who changed you. Now I'll just get rid of this one." Lorcan says while watching Viktor.

"Colt didn't deserve to die. Don't forget you're the one who changed me into a faery to begin with Lorcan. I cared about Colt, can't you at least acknowledge that?" I say tiredly.

"If you don't want my help, you can just save yourself. Get of this on your own. You still are so clueless about our kind...and when you realize you need me, I'll be waiting. Goodbye, Elaine." Lorcan says without a hint of remorse.

I shake my head in disbelief as the very person who could get me free of Viktor storms out of my house.

"Coward." Viktor says while turning back into my room.

"Lorcan is braver than you'll ever be. You, who tries to kill someone at their weakest point." I say numbly.

"The witch was right. My demon powers are gone." He says. Maybe that was why he randomly attacked me, trying to choke me. He probably thinks I took his powers, when in reality I have no idea what Silvia was even talking about! I really don't know why his powers are gone.

"I didn't have anything to do with it. All I know is that the two people I care about, maybe even loved, have both just walked out my life." I reply in a quiet voice, on the verge of crying.

"In Hell, I never experienced this word you call love. That faery is a coward, he should have killed me if he loved you while he had the chance because next time I see him I will kill him." Viktor says in a serious voice.

"Oh and what has a demon like you learned about love in your short stay in the human world?" I ask coldly.

"I only know what I see." Viktor says offhandedly.

"We better clean up this mess before my parents get back." I say quietly while brushing a strand of hair behind my ear.

I consider bringing up the fact that Silvia mumbled something before she disappeared, but maybe now isn't the best time. I don't know how Viktor would take it if I told him what I really saw behind his back. Knowing him, he would probably burn them off his back. I wonder if Silvia cursed him? Or maybe I was just seeing things.

Yes, there's no way I could have seen what I thought I saw.

Because a demon with fairy wings would just be ridiculous. Viktor with fairy wings, the very thought of Viktor turning into a fairy is laughable.

  Chapter 13-The Greenman

Of course Viktor doesn't bother helping me clean up the mess he made in my house, so I take it on myself to sweep up the shattered glass and attempt at putting some pictures properly back on the wall. I squint at the wall beside my bedroom door to see a long scratch etched into the pale paint, hopefully my parents won't notice.

I watch Viktor wave his hand over the rope tying us together to see the rope extend a decent length. If I could burn this rope off my arm, I would.

I hear Viktor downstairs helping himself to the contents of our fridge. Well, at least he isn't snooping around my room. I head downstairs, grabbing a paper towel from the kitchen to swipe up a small blood stain from where Silvia landed on the floor, gross.

When I toss in the dirty paper towel I close our metal trash can, I nearly jump out my skin when I hear my parent's pull up in the driveway.

"Company." Viktor states bluntly while feigning excitement, as he wolfs down a peace of cold leftover steak.

"Elaine, I've got some bad news, they're placing our house under a temporary eviction-the realtor told us the inspector they sent out to our house found asbestos in the living room ceiling." My Mom says while setting her purse down on the counter with a deep frown.

"Apparently, it's going to be $10,000 if we want it removed by the end of this month, we wanted to get the house sold before then." My Dad says with a scoff.

"Well maybe we should just stay at a hotel, it isn't safe in here with that deadly stuff floating in the air. " My Mom adds.

"No, it isn't safe for us to stay in the human realm that long. It's best if we just take turns, someone has to contact the inspector again. This process is going to take a while to begin with. We haven't even got the house on the market yet." My Dad sighs.

"I'm not leaving our daughter in the fae world alone again!" My Mother screeches out of the blue. I'm taken
back by her outburst, maybe she was hiding her concern of my absence because Viktor my "guest" is with me.

"We can't sell the house if none of us are here." My Dad replies while yanking one of the kitchen chairs out to sit on. Viktor, looking bored, walks off into the asbestos filled living room to sit down on the couch. He turns on the tv probably to drown out my parents' arguing.

"Mom, Dad, why don't you both just stay here? You can finish the house business and I'll just stay at our house back in Hunrel. You could just go to a hotel and when the house is done, come back." I explain.

"Don't think I've forgotten about your little charade-going off for days without our consent!" My Mother hisses, I guess now that they think Viktor is distracted they can unleash their fury on me.

"I'm not a little kid anymore, I'm eighteen. I promise I won't go off anywhere like that again." I plead gently. I wouldn't be surprised if they made me stay here with them, but I know Dad is already worried about being in the human realm enough as it is. And if I stay with them, who's to say trouble won't come my way again, endangering my parents.

"You're still our little girl, Elaine." My Dad says quietly.

"Then it's settled you're staying here, with us." My Mom says while crossing her arms.

"She isn't safe here." My Dad replies.

"I know that honey, but-" My Mom begins to raise her voice, but my Dad talks over her.

"Let her go back. I'm going to make a call for James to keep an eye on the house, have him put up a ward or something." My Dad says defeated.

"What?! He's barely older than Elaine! I suppose you want her to go back by the greenman way too?! I'll go back with her and stay with her." My Mom argues. I fidget my feet anxiously as my parents continue arguing.

"They need both of our signatures and both of our presence for the contract. We both have to be here to sign the house over." My Dad says patiently to my Mom.

"Alright, I don't like this though...Elaine you and your friend are going to have to go. It's best if you leave now before it's dark out. Your father wants you to go back by the greenman way. One of our neighbors, James, will watch the house while you’re there, you'll be safe as long as you don't go running off again." My mother laughs nervously.
