The One Awakened

“I wish you would join us when we start our classes, Mel,” Sofia said and handed Ar’ch her sunblock. As he took the sunblock from her, his hand lingered on the new tattoo on her inner wrist. After her death day, her wrists were branded with her weapon to call – a set of Chinese throwing stars emblazoned with fire. Her heart skipped a beat with his touch.
“Not a chance, girl,” Mel said. “College is not my thing. Kai and I are working on finding a location close to the college for Z to open up her own nightclub, and then we are going to work with her on making it a success.”
Sofia smiled at her best friend. She had never seen Mel look happier. Kai leaned over and kissed her. He wore his shades but only because the sun was brilliantly shining. After he came to Earth, his eyes adjusted so that they were a dark gray with a few specks of silver. On the few occasions that he took off his shades, most people thought that he wore colored contacts to stand out.
“We need to keep an eye on the time,” Angel reminded everyone. “Father wants us to begin our training regimen tonight.”
Everyone groaned, but Sofia laughed. Rafe’s basement had been turned into their secret training facility. Nolan insisted that they continue to practice their skills and keep up with their strength training. There had been reports that some Raizyns had moved to Earth, and Nolan wanted everyone always alert and prepared to protect the humans from both Raizyns and other evil doers. As eager as Sofia was to test out her new weapons to call, she was having too much fun to want to leave.
“Oh, no you don’t,” Rafe said. “You are not getting out of this, Angel. A promise is a promise.”
Angel laughed. “I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“Yeah, right. Ever since I mentioned it, you’ve been trying to delay it,” he said.
“I say you guys just do it now,” Ar’ch said. “That way, we can all head out to Make Out Point and see if it’s worth its hype.”
Angel rolled his eyes. “Fine! The sooner it’s over, the better. You guys are driving me crazy.”
They all laughed. Sofia patted his leg. “You’ve got this, bro,” she said and winked.
Angel smiled. “Thanks, sis,” he said. He kissed her cheek and stood. “Come on, Rafe. Let’s go.”
Sofia stood with everyone else and followed Rafe and Angel. She walked, hand in hand, with Ar’ch and couldn’t stop smiling. She had never felt so happy or so loved. A few months ago, she lived an ordinary life, and life seemed good, but it had all been a lie. The past few months were the most difficult moments of her life, but she had survived.
Now, she had two mother figures who loved her and a father figure who adored her as the daughter he never had. She went from being a single child to having two half-brothers. She was not just a simple human; she was a Diasodz and a heroine to her kind. But the best part of the past few months was the fact that she had gotten her own fairy tale love with the happiest of all endings.
Ar’ch looked at her and smiled, almost as if he knew that her thoughts focused on him. The love and happiness in his eyes melted her every time. She sighed and felt her entire body relax. The Goddess truly had blessed her, and she sent Her prayers of gratitude every day. No matter what happened on her life’s journey, she knew that with love and light, she would prosper and be happy. She kissed Ar’ch’s cheek and pulled him to catch up with the others.

Angel climbed the last set of steps and shook his head. When he had promised Rafe that he would bungee jump with him at the watering hole, he had not expected to ever return to Earth nor had he thought that he would be expected to jump from the highest station.
“Are you alright?” Rafe asked, beaming with excitement.
He looked down at the long drop below them. Kai and Mel stood next to Ar’ch and Sofia. They were yelling and cheering them on. He shook his head and swallowed.
“I’m not the biggest fan of heights,” he admitted.
Rafe laughed. “Are you serious?”
“My affinity is water. I tend to prefer sea-level activities.”
Rafe laughed again. “Well,” he said, pointed below them. “At least, we will be falling above water, right? If the rope should break, you can use your affinity to soften our fall.”
“Is the rope known for breaking?” he asked, unable to hide his concern.
“No, of course not! If it were, the park would shut the jump down.”
The park attendant motioned for them to take their places. Rafe kept laughing while the attendants secured the belts on their waists. Angel held the thick chord in his hands and focused on his breathing. He felt someone take hold of his hand, so he opened his eyes and looked to see his hand clutched in a comforting embrace. Then, he slowly looked up to see Rafe smiling at him.
“I’m right here,” Rafe said reassuringly. “We’ll jump together.”
He exhaled and allowed Rafe’s happiness to embrace him. Just as he began to nod, everything went black. At first, he thought he had fainted, but he still heard the sounds around him; he just couldn’t see.
“Holy hell!” he yelled.
“What’s going on?” Rafe said, a slight edge in his voice.
Kai thought he’d make things a little more interesting, Ar’ch spoke into their minds, his laughter trailing his thoughts.
Rafe laughed and thought back, Three can play at that game.
Angel smiled. Just wait until we get down from here.
He felt Rafe squeeze his hand. “Are you ready?”
He took a deep breath and smiled. “With you by my side, absolutely!”
Hand in hand, they jumped willingly into the unknown.
Dear reader,
Thank you for reading the final book of the Chronicles of the Diasodz. I hope that you are pleased with its ending. There were many parts where I cried hysterically while writing (and then I cried again while I edited…lol!). This series is truly a work of heart for me, and I hope that it has impacted you in some way.
Although I mentioned that this is the finale of the series, it is not the last time that I will write about my Diasodz and Raizyns. In fact, I am already beginning to write a prequel to this series which will follow Drake’s life up until his incarceration at the Dimension of Redemption. It will also tell the stories of Damiana, Liana, Nolan, and Valerie. I’ve shared parts of their pasts with you through this series, but the whole truth has not been told. I hope you will keep in touch with me through my media sites so that you will know when it is released.
Please take a moment to write a review on whatever site in which you purchased my book. If you are angry that I killed off one of your favorite characters or if you feel someone should have had a different fate, I would love to hear from you. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so if you feel that you have found an error, please email me at calleirobooks@aol.com. My goal is always to provide you with a well-written, thoroughly enjoyable story. And please share your love of reading so that others may venture into the world of the Diasodz. As always, I look forward to reading your reviews.

I have known the ending of this series from the moment that I began planning the first book. The journey to share this story has brought me so much enjoyment. The idea of not writing about Sofia, Ar’ch, Rafe, and Angel sits heavily in my heart, but I am sure they will work their way into a few short stories at some point in my life. There are many people who have been with me on this journey from the very beginning, and they have supported me and helped me make these books enjoyable for you. So, please give me a moment to share my gratitude for their assistance with you.
My mom and sister have been two of my biggest supporters. Mom, thank you for reading every one of my drafts and giving me your feedback. Kristy, your grammar knowledge is incredible, and I appreciate you taking the time out of your crazy schedule to always nitpick at my drafts. Roxy, your passion for my stories never gets old. Lol! Thank you for reading and rereading my scenes and for providing me with honest criticisms.
My beta readers have been with me since book one. I know how lucky I am that you all have stuck with me through all five books. Jeni H, I feel blessed that you continue to share your input on my books, especially with everything that has happened this year. Claire, your dedication to scrutinize my story lines helps me feel confident that I have provided my readers with a complete story. Bina, thank you for sending me your thoughts and helping me close some of the gaps. And Lin White, I don’t know what I did to earn your commitment to helping me, but I am honored that you have taken the time to help me enhance my writing.
I also cannot end without thanking Tatiana Villa of Vila Designs for the mesmerizing cover of this book! It encompasses everything that this story is about, and I absolutely love it! And finally, thank you, my reader. Thank you for sticking with the series. Thank you for writing your reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. Thank you for sharing my books with your friends and family (and followers). I truly appreciate your support and hope that you will continue to follow me for future books. Until then, happy reading!
