Well, that explains why he looks so fit. Aura sighs loudly in my head, and I have to fight the

urge to roll my eyes at her, again.

“Well, I guess I’ll see you tonight at the pack house tonight? There’s a huge supper to

celebrate my brother finally choosing his mate," he says as he shoots a stone across the river. The stone skips across the top of the water effortlessly.

“Oh wow, that’s awesome. Your brother must be really happy that he found his mate." I

stare out at the calm water. Mates’ I hadn’t thought about it much before, but as I get closer to my birthday, I can feel my wolf longing for her own mate. I hate this for her. For both of us. I know there might not be a true mate for us.

Shaking his head, he says “Oh, Kelly isn’t his true mate, but like we’re all told when we are

young, it's rare you actually find your true mate. And that’s assuming my brother even has a true

mate. He seems pretty happy, though. He says that Kelly’s an amazing girl.”

“Oh...Ummm...well, I hope he’s happy in his mating. I wish them all the best.”

Ryan turns to look at me.

“You can tell them yourself at supper tonight if you want.”

He takes my hand and places a soft kiss on the top, swirling his thumb across my suddenly

very sensitive skin. I'm not too sure how to react. I just smile. He releases a deep breath and bends his face towards mine. "Elizabeth, you are so beautiful. I know we just met, but I would really like to kiss you if you’ll let me."

I stare into his eyes; unsure how to respond to that. Luckily, my body decides for me.

My heart pounding against my chest as I nod and he leans in and when our lips touch, I feel

how soft his lips are. I get a little tingly feeling in my stomach. I’m not eighteen yet, so I wouldn’t know if he was my mate or not, but somehow that doesn’t matter. I just enjoy my first kiss.

When his tongue tries to make its way into my mouth, I gasp and back away from him.

Ryan’s stares at my lips like he wants to kiss me again and then he leans back towards me, giving a

  small peck.

"Well, I better get going. My parents are probably waiting for me. I told them I wouldn't be

long. It was nice meeting you, Ryan.”

He smiles at me as he grabs my hand, kissing the top of it and leaning towards me.

“I’m very attracted to you. My wolf is going nuts right now. I don’t even know if you feel the

same way, but I would really like you to be my mate. I know I have to ask for permission from my

father, and we have to talk to your parents as well, but I’m sure we can make each other very

  happy."

I blink up at him, not sure what to say. I’m pretty sure there is no harm in becoming mates,

but like he said, we have to figure out what is going to happen, see what our parents think, and if we do it this way, it will give us time to get to know each other.

“I’m not allowed to mate until I’m eighteen.”

“Yes I know,” he says excitedly.

“That’s why I will talk to my father and we will announce our planning to mate on your

  birthday.”

“That seems fair,” I say, my cheeks burning.

Ryan leans in and kisses me again.

“Thank you for giving me a chance. I know we just met but I feel drawn to you, and I felt

something when we kissed, didn’t you?”

I nod. I’m smiling so much right now, I’m sure my face is going to be sore later.

"I will see you later at the pack house.”

After waving goodbye to Ryan, I turn and head back in the direction I came. When I get back

home, my parents are sitting on the porch swing. My mother has a book in hand and my father is

  reading the newspaper.

I slowly walk up the steps and see my parents are quiet as they stare at me. My mother tilts

her head and sniffs the air, and then a grin spreads across her face. Can she smell Ryan on me?

“Sweetheart, while you were gone for your run, the alpha’s son, Caleb, showed up to greet

us. We won’t be having supper at home tonight. There’s a pack supper to welcome us to the pack

and for the Alpha’s son Caleb to make an announcement,” my father says, setting his newspaper on

  his lap.

I nod and make my way into the house. I walk towards my room, opening and closing the

door. I flop back onto my bed, closing my eyes. I can’t stop thinking back to Ryan and that amazing

kiss, and I can’t wait to see him later. I need to take a shower. I’m sure I smell like dirt and sweat from running. Grabbing my essentials, I make my way towards the bathroom.

  Chapter 2

Supper should be starting in an hour. I haven’t seen my brother since he came back, he was

gone out before I left the house this morning; I wonder where he ran off to. It’s not like him to be late for anything. I finish getting dressed; I take a glimpse of myself in the mirror. My wolf seems to be nervous today; I’m not sure why he’s acting all weird, he has never been this quiet with me

  before.

“Maverick, is everything okay?” I’m silently hoping everything is fine.

“I’m not sure. I don’t feel hundred percent, sure about this, mating Kelly. I feel as if there’s something missing.” Maverick exclaims. I can feel he’s getting antsy. I try to talk to him, trying my best to soothe him on the idea, get him to be supportive of the idea of mating with Kelly; she’s a great she-wolf. “Don’t distress Maverick. Kelly will make us a fine mate; you and Misty seem to get along great. Don’t think too much about it. We’re getting a chance that not everyone gets and that is to have a mate who cares and loves us, even if she’s not our true mate.” Maverick doesn’t say

another word, I sigh it’s like pulling teeth for him to listen to me. I leave my room in search of my father and brother.

I’ve not seen my brother in over a year. I wasn’t there this morning when he got back from

my uncle’s pack, was visiting with the Mason’s as my father instructed.

I finally make my way to the main hall of the pack house. I see there are plenty of people

that have already started to show up to welcome the Mason’s, and to also hear my special

announcement. I start chatting with a few fellow pack mates, as I’m about to turn around I feel

myself getting lifted off the ground.

“Nice to see your ugly ass face big brother,” Ryan mocks chuckling, as he sets me down. I

turn to get a good look at him. I can see he bulked up; he’s gotten much stronger than he was before he left.

“Wow, look at you, going to Uncle Demon’s for training has done you good; you’ve grown

since you left, and those muscles,” I say, grabbing his arm, squeezing his muscles. He’s still not as big as me, but he did bulk up a lot from the little boy he was when he left. Well, I can’t really call him a little boy, he was nineteen when he left, he was just a scrawny little guy, I’m just glad he filled out since.

“The girls in the pack will be just falling at your feet now.” I give him a light shove with my

  elbow, teasing him.

  Ryan smirks.

“Well, dear brother. This morning while I was gone for my walk down by the river, I met

someone who I would love to get to know more, she could possibly be a mate for me, She’s perfect.

When I was with her at the river, we kissed and I swear my wolf went hay
wire as soon as our lips

touched. She should be here tonight, her family just moved here.”

As soon as he said he met her this morning and her family just moved here, I knew he was

talking about the Mason’s and their daughter, that I did not get the chance of meet this morning

because she was out for a run, I guess she was with my little brother, and from the sounds of it,

seems really happy to of met her.

I can’t help but smirk at Ryan. “Looks like there could be two mating, instead of just one,”

Ryan gives a small smile, shaking his head. Why is he shaking his head?

“Why are you shaking your head?” Ryan stays silent for a moment, and then he opens his

  mouth.

“Well, the thing is she only turns eighteen in two weeks. So, we’re going to wait till her

birthday to say anything.” Ah, that explains why he isn’t jumping at the idea of having it announced yet. He has to get to know her a bit more too; they did just meet this morning, I don’t want him to

rush into a mating, if she was his true mate he would know, and he hasn’t mentioned that she’s his.

I’ve known Kelly my whole life and we’ve been dating for a couple of months before I got

permission to mate with her. I can see where Ryan is with all this. I hope everything works out for

the both. My father comes marching out of the dining hall and declares that supper will be starting in a few minutes and that everyone should go and grab their seats.

Kelly walks up to me with a huge smile plastered on her face.

“There you are, I was looking for you. Are you ready for this, I mean the announcement, and

if you’re really ready to be mated to me?” She asks as she bites her lip, probably worrying that I’ll change my mind.

“Yes I’m ready, don’t worry. Everyone will be happy for us.” She gives me another quick

smile before she walks away from me into the dining hall. Man, it’s crazy to think I’ll be a mated man within a month from now. I can’t wait to start this next stage of my life. Grinning, I walk into the dining hall towards the main table where my father, mother, and brother are sitting.

A chill runs down my back what the hell was that? I never felt something like that before, my

wolf seems to be pacing inside my head, what has him all tied up in knots? Maybe it’s all the

  excitement?

We finally arrive at the pack house, we’re lucky to arrive just in time. There are tons of

people standing around chatting with one another. My mother smiling and waving to the people she

remembers from once upon a time. My mother isn’t from this pack; she’s the daughter of an Alpha

  from the Sliver mountain pack.

So all, in all I’m the daughter of an alpha female. Which meets I have alpha blood running

through my veins, pretty cool right? We make our way towards the dining hall. We notice all the

tables lined up, each family having their own table, which I found pretty neat. We find a table

marked ‘The Mason’s’, we take a sit and wait for the rest of the pack mates to file in. My mother is smiling wide staring at me.

“Elizabeth, I hope this isn’t all too much for you,” Shaking my head. At first I was angry

about moving here but now being surrounded by everyone, it feels like home.

“No, I’m perfectly fine,” As soon as those words leave my mouth. I feel like I’m being

watched, I look up and see Ryan at the head table smiling at me. I blush my mother notices and

  R a v i s h i n g E l i z a b e t h ‘ W h i t e T i m b e r P a c k ’

turns towards the direction where I was looking in and she sees Ryan waving. She turns back to me

  grinning.

“Oh my Elizabeth, he’s cute.” My eyes widen, oh my God shoot me now; my mother did not

just say that. My father’s laughing at my reaction to my mother’s response.

“Don’t mind your mother, Elizabeth.” That’s easier said than done. Everyone gets real

quiet as a man I never seen before entering, this must be the alpha, and everyone bows their heads,

showing respect, everyone takes their seats.

“Good evening everyone. I hope everyone brought their appetites with them tonight; we’ve

planned a huge feast. There are two things we’re celebrating tonight. We are welcoming a new

family to our pack. Everyone, please welcome the Mason’s.” On cue, everyone turns their heads in

our direction, clapping and whistling. My face going beet red as all the pack members stare in our

direction, oh my God, talk about being put on the spot.

My mother stands and gives a little ‘thank you’ speech.

“Thank you, Alpha Darren. We’re happy to become part of this glorious pack. Thank you for

the warm welcomes everyone.” She sits down after her speech, and Alpha Darren nods.

“It’s our pleasure to have you here Sarah, with your husband Roman, and your lovely

daughter, Elizabeth.” Alpha Darren looks between me and my family giving a warm smile.

“Now we’ll move onto the second announcement. Well, I am proud to announce that my

eldest son Caleb has finally chosen a mate and the mating will take place in two weeks’ time. Caleb

and Kelly please join the head table as we celebrate with this feast.” There’s a man that steps out from behind the curtain, I’m assuming is Caleb. There’s a girl that stands up from a few tables over; she kisses her parents before leaving the table. She makes her way to the head table and takes a

seat beside Caleb. Ryan’s brother is handsome, Kelly’s one lucky girl.

The feast begins; digging into our food, my mother decides to find out more about Ryan.

“Sweetheart, how do you know the Alpha’s son?” I knew she wouldn’t leave it alone, my

  mother loves to gossip.

“When I was on my run earlier today, I was by the river and I heard something, I wasn’t sure

what it was until Ryan stepped out of the woods, he walked over to me, and we chatted for a bit.”

She’s smiling at me as I replay the story of meeting Ryan.

“He seems smitten with you Elizabeth, how old is he?” I’m sure she’s planning a ceremony in

  her head as we speak.

“He’s twenty Mother.” She nods her head she goes back to eating. Once we’re finished

eating, I look up to see Ryan heading our way. Crap, my head snaps over to my mother, and she’s

smiling. Please, dear God, don’t let me mother say anything stupid that will embarrass me.

  R a v i s h i n g E l i z a b e t h ‘ W h i t e T i m b e r P a c k ’

“Hello, Mr. Mason and Mrs. Mason, Elizabeth.” He nods.

“Well Hello Ryan, is it? Elizabeth has told me that you guys met earlier today by the river.”

Ryan smiles at my mother before giving a crooked grin.

“Yes we did, you have a very beautiful daughter Mrs. Mason. I can see she gets her beauty

from you.” I’m blushing like crazy I’m sure. He’s smooth, got to give him that much.

“Why thank you, Ryan, that’s really kind of you to say.” My mother blushes a little, my

father clears his throat, and Ryan stands straight, waiting for my father to say something to him.

“Ryan, it’s nice to meet you, but my daughter is only seventeen. I know the laws of the pack

even if I’m not a wolf. I know when she is eighteen, she can find her mate. But as of right now I

would like her to be mate-less for as long as she can. I’m sure you understand she’s my little girl.” Oh my God, shoot me now. I look at my father wide-eyed, shocked at what he just said. My mother is

; also shocked, her jaw drops, she hits me father under the table, he grunts under his breath.

“Roman.” She hisses under her breath.

I sit across from my father; I’m astonished by his behavior.

“Ryan please excuses my husband.” He nods his understanding Ryan turns to me, grinning.

“See you tomorrow? I mean if it is okay with your parents of course.” My father is about to

open his mouth but my mother elbows him in the side, and his mouth snaps shut.

“Ryan, don’t worry about us, you kids have fun. I’m assuming you know where we live?” He

puts his hands in his jean pockets, swaying back and forth under my father’s glare.

“Yes, Ma’am, I’ll see you tomorrow, Elizabeth. Mr. Mason, Mrs. Mason, have a great night.”

He returns back to his table and sits down with his family. I’m speechless at what just occurred here, just now.

“Dad, what was that?” My father doesn’t say anything but I hear him mumbling under his

breath but I can’t catch what he says. My mother’s sitting there staring at my father, with a

  disapproving look on her face.

“Roman, we need to talk about this, you know you can’t stop her from growing up, no

matter what you do.” Sighing, he hangs his head.

“Alright let’s head home; I think I’ve had enough excitement for tonight.” My mother

exclaims as she stands up from the table, pushing her chair in. I get up and follow my parents.

I turn to see Ryan talking with some girl that’s around our age, jealousy shoots through me.

It’s like he knows I’m watching him, he turns and gives me a smile, I give him a tight smile, and I walk

  R a v i s h i n g E l i z a b e t h ‘ W h i t e T i m b e r P a c k ’

out of the dining hall as fast as I can. My parents are waiting for me. Hopefully, my father hasn’t

scared him away. I’ll see if he shows up tomorrow like he said.

  I hope he does.

Once I get home, I say good night to my parents. I head upstairs to my bedroom, grabbing

my PJ’s, I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth, could tonight have gone any worse? With Ryan

coming over to say hello, then my father acting like a cave man, and then seeing Ryan talking with
