that girl. I hope tomorrow’s a better day than how tonight was because I don’t think I can take
another day like that.
What has gotten into my father? He has never ever been this way before. My phone buzzes
on the night table, picking it up, I check to see who it could be. It’s Tori.
Tori- : I’ll be coming down in two days, Liz. I can’t believe it’s been two days since I’ve seen
you, I miss you already. I’ll text you the info of my flight and stuff so you can pick me up.
Elizabeth- : Oh my God, I can’t wait to see you. I’m sure mom and dad will be more than
happy to have you here with us, I just need to talk to the Alpha but I don’t see a problem.
After saying our goodbyes, planting myself down on the bed, I try to get comfortable, once I
wrap the blanket around me.
I finally start to doze off.

Chapter 3
Waking up to my mother yanking on my leg, trying to get me out of bed, I wouldn’t say
that’s the best method, but she insists on grabbing and pulling.
“Urg… Mom, come on. Seriously give me like five more minutes please.” I hear footsteps
walking around my room. I peek from under my pillow and see my mother pacing then she stops,
turning around she walks out of my room. Hum…that was weird. A few minutes later my mother
barges back into my room.
“Elizabeth, your five minutes are up. Get up. You have a handsome young man waiting for
you downstairs.” Hearing those words, I fidget around in my bed and I look around bewildered.
“What do you mean someone’s downstairs? Oh my God, is Ryan’s downstairs, he showed
up?” My mother nods, smirking as she leaves my room. Holy shit, Ryan actually showed up. I didn’t
expect him to show up after how my father was towards him last night. Then he was talking to the
girl, I was sure I was long forgotten.
I jump out of bed and look around my room to find something to wear, I finally decide on an
outfit. I grab my clothes and run to the bathroom, to take the fastest shower I’ve ever taken. I don’t want to leave poor Ryan downstairs, my mother I’m sure will be nice but my father on the other
hand, even if he isn’t a wolf shifter, he’s still pretty intimidating.
After taking the fastest shower in history, I get dressed and head downstairs to see Ryan.
Once I hit the landing at the bottom of the stairs, I hear Ryan and my father talking. I slowly tiptoe towards their voices. I stand beside the entrance of the living room.

“Ryan, I’m sorry for how I treated you last night, but Elizabeth is my baby girl and I don’t
want her getting hurt,” My father explains his voice thick with emotion. I stand there listening to my father talk with Ryan and it tugs at my heart. Just knowing that he loves me that much, he’s just
looking out for me; tears fill the corner on my eyes, and I try desperately to blink them back. I look up and see my mother standing there with a smile on her face, she starts walking towards me, and
she brings me into her arms, hugging me.
“Oh sweetheart, you know your father loves you. He’s just looking out for you. He doesn’t
want to see you get hurt.” I nod my head.
“I know mom, I appreciate him looking out for me,” I choke out, my voice cracking from all
the emotions overwhelming me, wiping my eyes; I give my mother a tender smile.
“Well, I better get in there. I think I’ve made him wait long enough,” whispering as I give my
mother another hug before going into the living room.
As I make my way into the living room with my mother in the toe, my father sitting in his
favorite chair with Ryan is sitting across from him on the couch, they both look up and see me, with smiles on their faces, and I can’t help myself but smile. I walk over to my father and lean down to
hug him; I’m trying hard to fight back the tears again.
“Thank you, daddy, I know you’re looking out for me, but I’ll be okay. Try and not to worry
too much, you will give yourself a heart attack, and then you won’t be around when I need you,” I
whisper hugging him tighter, he wraps his arms around me, chuckling.
“Oh Elizabeth, I know you can take care of yourself. I’m always going to worry about you. I
love you, Princess,” he mutters, as he lets go of me and looks up at my mother.
“Ryan here was just telling me his intentions for you, and I must say he had a lot of guts to
show up here especially after last night,” my father proclaims while he stares at Ryan, I must say I’m impressed Ryan doesn’t break my father’s stare.
“I will see you guys later. I love you, dad, mom,” I reach over extending my hand to Ryan, as
he grabs it, I pull him off the couch and we rush to the front door.
“Oh, by the way, Tori’s going to be here in two days, is it fine that she stays here with us?” I
ask, my parents both nodding, they love Tori; she’s like another daughter to them. We make a quick
move for the door; I want to get out of the house before my father gives another lecture. I don’t
want him to scare off the first guy that shows an interest in me.
As we make it outside, I turn to face Ryan.
“Ryan, I’m sorry for taking so long. I know you must have been uncomfortable sitting in
there with my father the whole time,” I mumble out fast, sucking in a breath as I finish. Ryan grabs my hand and brings me closer to him; he gives me a kiss on the cheek.

“Don’t worry Elizabeth, It wasn’t too bad. Your father just wanted to make sure I wasn’t
some creep after his daughter,” he says, as he holds me close. I melt against him, I hear someone
clearing their throat behind us. I snap my head around and see my father standing there; trying hard not to laugh at my doe-eyed expression.
“Ryan, make sure she’s back home by five for supper,” my father says glaring at Ryan.
“Sure no problem Mr. Mason, I’ll have Elizabeth back by five,” Ryan rushes to say while
nodding at my father. We head towards his truck, I’m about to open the door, when he comes
rushing over to me, opening the door before I could reach the handle. His gesture making me
swoon, no guy has ever opened a door for me before, and it feels nice.
“Thank you,” my voice a little high, I step up into the truck, Ryan runs around the truck and
opens the door getting in he starts the truck, pulling out of the driveway heading towards town. The radio is playing as we drive; he reaches over and turns the sound down, peaking at me from the
corner of his eye.
“So, what do you want to do today? We can go to my place or we can watch a movie? Or
maybe go get ice cream,” he says while he turns onto the main road to town. Not sure what I want
to do, but ice cream sounds so good right about now, but I haven’t even had breakfast yet so I don’t think that would be a good idea.
“Ummm… I haven’t had breakfast yet, is it possible to go somewhere to grab a bite to eat?
And then maybe go to your place and watch a movie?” I ask warily.
“Sure we can go get something to eat first. I know just the place and seeing as your new you
haven’t tried it yet, I’m sure you are going to love their pancakes, their amazing,” he points out.
“Oh, pancakes sound good, can’t wait. Do they have blueberry pancakes?” I ask as my
stomach
grumbles, blushing.
“Sorry, I haven’t eaten since supper last night,” I say as I hang my head in embarrassment,
looking at my entwined hands.
“Don’t worry about it, I had breakfast this morning but you know how us growing men are,
we need two meals at meal time,” he chuckles out as we pull into a parking space in front of a Diner.
I look up and see the bright neon sign on top of the cute little diner and it reads ‘Marge’s
diner’, that’s a cute name, I wonder if the owners name is Marge. It looks like a nice homey place
from the outside, I’m about to open the truck door.
“Wait let me get that for you,” he says as he jumps out of the truck slamming the door shut,
he runs around to passenger side and opens the door for me, grabbing my hand he helps me out of
the truck. That’s sweet of him.

“Thank you,” I whisper as he helps me down. Walking to the front door of the diner, Ryan
pushes the door in.
“After you,” he says softly. I walk through the door he places his hand on my lower back
guiding me.
“Where would you like to sit? At the counter or at a booth?” he asks while looking around
the diner.
“Booth is fine,” I mention I see there’s a booth available at the back of the room. Perfect, we
have some privacy; to get to know each other a little more.
We make our way over to the booth and we wait for the waitress to head our way. A few
moments later she comes up beside our table, heading us each a menu.
“What would you like to start off to drink?” she asks as she takes her pen and notepad out.
Ryan orders himself a coffee and I order myself a small glass of milk. I’m sure whatever I
order is going to be sweet and need to cut the sweetness with a glass of milk. I’m pretty sure I’ll have the chocolate chip pancakes with whip cream and syrup. My mouth waters just thinking of it. Yum…
The waitress leaves to place our order with the cook, my nose twitches and I sniff the air.
What is that smell? As if Ryan could read my mind, he puts me out of my misery with taking to figure out the smell.
“There are other shifters in the diner. You’ve never seen other shifters before?” I shake my
head. I haven’t seen any or smelled any before coming to the pack.
“This town has a few different shifters, of course, we have wolves. There are also bears and
cougars and panthers.” He mentions while I look around the diner. Everyone who looks my way
gives me a bright smile. Wow, I didn’t know there were so many different shifters around. It makes
me wonder if vampires are real.
The waitress stops in front of us with a tray in her hand, she places out our food in front of
us. My stomach growls as I look at the heavenly goodness lying on my plate.
“Are vampires real?” I ask as I take my fork and knife, cutting into my pancakes. Ryan
swallows his food with a loud gulp.
“Yes, vampires are real but I haven’t seen one. My father did many years ago, and so did
Caleb, I think. They wouldn’t come here to a town full of shifters that would be suicidal on their
part.” He mentions.
Hmmm… I’m curious about vampires. I’ve only ever read tales of them in books before and
now knowing they’re real, it’s pretty cool but scary all at the same time.

“So, who’s Tori?” he asks, as he continues to eat, the man he can eat. His plate is almost
done, while I still have half or more of my plate left.
I’m sure Tori would totally find Ryan attractive, but she hasn’t opened up to any guy since
her ex-treated her badly, she won’t try to speak or anything to a guy now, she’s closed off. I don’t know everything, she wouldn’t tell me all of it and I’m her best friend. Maybe she was worried that I would’ve shifted and tear that little shit apart.
“Tori’s my best friend from back home. She’s coming down to visit me for a few weeks. We
haven’t gone more than a day without seeing each other. She’s like a sister I never had,”
“You must be excited to have her here. I probably won’t see you much once she’s here,” he
pouts a little, his puppy dog face making me chuckle.
“Don’t worry, I’m sure I can fit you in somewhere, in my busy schedule,” he grins, then he
goes back to eating while I finish off my pancakes.

Chapter 4
We just finished having breakfast, Man, I just finished a huge plate and I could eat another. I
don’t want to make a pig of myself in front of her. I’m sure she understands that I’m a growing man
us male wolves love to eat. She’s sitting in front of me wiping the corners of her mouth with the
napkin. She looks up at me with a shy grin.
“What do you want to do next?” I ask she places the napkin down on her empty plate.
“We can go to your place and maybe watch a movie if you like?” She takes a sip of her drink.
“Sure, we can hang out at my place.” I wave the waitress down to get the check, the
waitress glances up giving a nod she heads over towards us. She stops beside me and smiles.
“Did you both enjoy everything?” she asks while she places the check down and grabs the
dirty dishes, we both nod. Before she leaves she asks if we would like anything else, and we both
shake our heads thanking her. I look down at the bill to see how much it is. I take a twenty out of my wallet and place it on the table.
I get up from the table and look down at Elizabeth.
“You ready to go?” She nods and gets up out of the booth and walks with me towards the
door.
On the way to my house, there isn’t much that happens, she’s quiet and acting all shy which
is cute. Once I pull up to my place, I park in my parking spot, turning off the truck. We exit the
vehicle and I guide Elizabeth towards the front door. I open the door for Elizabeth and she smiles.
Making our way through the house, my parents are in the kitchen talking about Caleb and
Kelly, but as soon as they see us, they get quiet and smile at us; I never took a girl home before.
“Ryan, I didn’t know you were bringing someone home,” my mother says as she looks
between the both of us. I shirk shaking my head, I’m sure she wanted to clean up around the house
before taking someone over, but the house is spotless. My mother’s a clean freak.

“Mom, dad, I would like to introduce you to, Elizabeth Mason. Of course, you both know she
just moved here with her parents.” I step towards the table where they’re sitting, Elizabeth following closely behind me. She steps out from behind me and smiles at my parents.
“Hello Alpha Jackson, Mrs. Jackson,” she says holding her hand out to shake both my
parents’ hands. We both take a seat at the table; I look around and notice Caleb isn’t home.
“Where’s Caleb? I wanted him to meet, Elizabeth.”
My father clears his throat, “Well he’s over at Kelly’s parent’s place with her, they’re talking
about the mating ceremony,” he says, looking over at my mother smiling. I’m sure my parents are
over the moon excited about this mating; means in time there will be grand babies. That’s
something my mother is dying to have lots of. M
y parents get up from the table and mention they
will be going out for a few hours, pack stuff.
After my parents leave, “Would you like to watch a movie right now or would you like to go
for a swim in the pool first?” I ask she looks out the window towards the pool and bites her lip.
“Maybe, we could go for a swim first and then we can watch a movie afterward?” she says
as she cocks her head, nodding my head because a swim sounds pretty good right now. We make
our way outside but she stops and turns to me.
“I don’t have a bathing suit but I do have something close to one under my clothes. I hope
that’s okay?” she asks.
My God, I’m more than fine with her going completely naked but then that would kind of
throw up red flags for her. I’ve never seen a naked woman up close I don’t think nudity magazines
count but I can imagine, I’ll embarrass myself pretty quick if she was nude in front of me right now.
I’m already wearing my swimming shorts because on a hot day like today, I like to be
prepared. The blood flow to my head is cut off as soon as she lifts her shirt, and pulls her shorts
down her slim legs. Sweet Jesus, she’s wearing black boy shorts and a black sports bra. She has an
incredible body, toned and slim. My wolf ‘Malakai’ perks up, seeing the beautiful she-wolf in front of us. He would love to chase her but she’s never been around pack before. Don’t want to end up
scaring her off.
She turns, giving me a quick lopsided smirk, “Are you coming or what, slow poke?” she takes
off running and dives into the pool. When her head breaks through the water, she looks like a wet
goddess. I have to remember she’s not used to male wolves; I need to take things slow. I snap out of my thoughts as she starts splashing the water out of the pool towards me. I grab the bottom of my
shirt and whip it off jumping in close beside her, the water splashing around her. She squeals as I
grab her leg underneath the water. I come up for air and laugh as she tries to get away from me, but I hold her to me, smirking.
