  She passed West a napkin. “It’s okay if you want to take it back. I did kind of ambush you. I meant everything I said and I’ll wait for you if you need more time, but if you want me to go, then I—”

  West put a finger against Camille’s lips and grinned through her tears. “It’s a good thing you’re a judge and not a litigator ’cause you don’t really know how to quit when you’re ahead.” She pulled Camille up beside her. “I meant everything I said too. I’m just a little overwhelmed. There was a time in my life when I never thought any of this was possible. Those doubts will probably always creep in from time to time.”

  Camille’s heart ached that West would ever doubt she deserved the best life had to offer, or the love she had to give. She put her arms around her and hugged tightly. “Oh, sweetheart, when the doubts sneak in, I’ll just hold you close and tell you I love you every day for the rest of your life.”

  West tilted her head and just before they kissed to seal the deal, she murmured against Camille’s lips, “That would be perfect.”
