“Just let the women be, bro,” Jason pulls him towards the bedroom door. When they hit the hallway, he turns back and winks at Siofra, letting her know he’ll keep her mate occupied so she can have her girl time.

Heeled footsteps give away Sylvia’s arrival, and Siofra ushers them both into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her. She takes a deep breath as they both look at her.

“What’s up, girl?” Sylvia gives her that ‘You’re wasting my time’ look, but Siofra ignores it and reaches into the top drawer. Placing the positive test on the counter, she just points, jerking her head to get them to look. Confusion still on their faces, Cassie and Sylvia move over to the sink and peer down at the proof.

Wide eyes come up from their inspection and Cassie is the first to break the silence. “When was your last period?”

“Halloween, I guess, maybe before,” Siofra plops down on the toilet lid. “It must have been around the full moon.”

“Girl, this is a good thing,” Sylvia bubbles with joy as she kneels in between Siofra’s legs, hugging her middle. “Why the sadness?”

“I didn’t want it to happen like this……. I wanted to be married first. Don’t you think Connie will feel it’s too fast, after everything’s that happened?” Leaning her cheek on Sylvia’s head, she sighs.

“Oh, Girl. Don’t worry ‘bout that,” Sylvia pulls her to her feet. Siofra stands there as her future sister-in-law fixes her hair for her, brushing a few stray strands behind her ear and even wiping some smudged mascara from under her eye. “Now before we go back down there, are you telling him or not yet?”

Looking between the two, Siofra says, “Not till I go see Dr. Trapper.” She tries her best smile and it gets squeals out of her two companions. They hug her tightly and usher her back down to the den.

Dodging the questioning looks from her fiancée, Siofra pushes through the rest of her evening, and puts Roan to bed after thanking everyone for coming as they make their way out the door. Taking an extra-long, extra hot shower, she feels a calm come over her. With her head on the tiles as the water rushes over her, she runs her hands over her stomach; smiling a little to herself at the idea of having another baby. It’s scary and wonderful, all in one.

Exiting the shower, wrapping a towel around her, she walks out into the bedroom to Conall sitting on the edge of the bed, staring at a little white, tube shaped object in his hand. Siofra gasps and he looks up. She sees that his eyes are tearing.

“When were you gonna share this with me?” He holds up the pregnancy test, shaking it a little.

Siofra walks over to stand in between his knees. She can feel the disappointment and a tiny bit of anger rolling off of him, as he doesn’t look at her. “I was gonna tell you after I went to see the Doc. I just didn’t want to get your hopes up and then something……go wrong.” Running her fingers around his scalp, she forces his head to tilt back, making him look at her. He rests his chin just below her breasts, staring at her. She runs her fingertips over his face, tracing the lines of his facial hair and jaw; his eyes slide shut for only a second, snapping open with a hint of neon green in them.

In lightning quick movement, he wraps his arms around her waist and moves her to her back on the mattress, his weight gently pressing her into it. Planting his lips to hers, he explores her mouth at a feverish pace. Gasping for air, Siofra releases his lips and he moves to nipping the skin on her neck, around his bite marks, setting her body on fire.

Moaning, Siofra moves her feet to the mattress, pressing her thighs around his hips. Running her hands over his shoulders and chest, she pushes away his shirt and tosses it to the floor. Conall leans to one side to remove his jeans, his eyes never leaving her body. He pauses before returning to his feast of flesh, just staring at her toweled body.

Siofra slowly moves her fingers to the top of her towel covered breasts. Conall’s eyes widen and a growl murmurs through his chest. Unhooking the towel, she pushes it out from under her body and scoots back towards the pillows. Leaning on her elbows, she winks at him, jerking her head in a ‘come-hither’ manner, while making herself giggle.

Crawling on his hands and knees, Conall straddles her body, splaying his hands out and running them all over it. “Lay still, love. I’m going to try something,” he whispers, trailing kisses from her lips, across the bite marks, and down her right breast. He stops to hover over her stomach.

Looking up at her, he makes sure she’s watching, locking his glowing green eyes around hers, he places his lips to her bare skin, just below her belly button. Taking a deep breath in, he lets out a reverberating, sensual growl; his lips vibrating on her stomach. It sends warmth and tingles throughout her body, bringing even more heat to her core while making her legs tremble.

Gasping, Siofra grabs at the quilt trying not to squirm. She swears she can feel the growl all the way through her spine, as if something inside of her is reacting to it. Conall again issues a sensual growl and it feels like it reaches inside, grasping at the little being inside her, surrounding it in love and safety.

“Oh God, Conall,” she whispers, looking down at him, “what was that?” She massages her fingers around his scalp as he begins to trail kisses up her torso. Coming to lay over her, his weight gentle and warm between her legs, Conall takes Siofra’s mouth in a demanding kiss, mating their tongues as his engorged cock brushes her core, making her whimper.

“I was just letting him or her know that their father loves them very much,” he whispers, kissing her softly as he slowly enters her; taking her breath away.

His thrusts aren’t hurried or demanding, they are loving and passionate as he kisses her, moving his lips to her neck as she arches into him. His hand runs down her side, pulling her tight to him, as if he wants to mold their bodies together and Siofra can’t help but tear up at all of the emotion her mate is showing. She pulls his lips to hers with her hands on his cheeks, just in time to catch a few tears running down his rough skin, and she kisses them away.

Conall brings her to climax more than a few times with passionate and gentle, yet demanding, touches. He nips at her marking scars just as she falls over the ledge the last time and he thrusts into her, spilling his seed deep within her; his eyes glowing and teeth elongated as his wolf claims her once more as his.

Falling into a light sleep in each other’s arms, Siofra wakes up once to Conall’s head resting on her stomach. Running her hands through his hair, hearing him groan happily, she falls back asleep smiling.

  CHAPTER SEVENTEEN:

  Christmas

“Okay, okay! Everyone sit down for dinner,” Susan Johnson shouts over the noise filling her home. The crowd of guests made up of her sons, their wives and children, Jace Smithe, Trey Rainwater, Marcus O’Hana Sr., and Jace’s parents, Bubba and Jan, oblige and start to take their seats.

This Christmas, the Alpha house is stuffed to the brim. Folding tables had to be brought in from the barn to accommodate all the guests. Their chatter and laughter warms Susan’s heart tremendously; especially that of Siofra. After all the girl has been through, she still has sun rays shining through her. Susan smiles sweetly at her future daughter-in-law and takes her seat to the left of her husband.

Siofra revels in the joy of the holiday, the smiles and the laughter filling her heart. Especially since the day before, on Christmas Eve, Doctor Trapper had confirmed her pregnancy. She is about six weeks along, taking conception back to the night of the bonfire, which made Conall laugh uncontrollably for almost two hours. The doctor has also determined, to Conall and Siofra’s surprise, that they are expecting twins. This fact made Connie laugh even more, and Siofra had playfully kicked him as he rolled around on their living room floor, trying to breathe through his chuckles.

They have decided to tell everyone after dinner, during dessert, thinking it’ll be an awesome holiday surprise. She can’t wait to see the look on their faces when they announce they are having twins.

Slabs of ham, bowls of roasted potatoes, and jugs o
f cider make their way around the conjoined tables, as everyone settles into conversation. Siofra makes her plate with three thick slices of ham, a mountain of potatoes, three biscuits and a pile of garlic green beans. Handing the basket of biscuits to Conall, she smiles at him; he just winks, shaking his head knowingly. She-wolves usually double their appetites when they are pregnant with cubs. The Doc told Siofra that since she’s having twins, she’ll probably eat constantly. That explains the three bags of potato chips she’s been eating, a day, for the last few days.

Clearing his throat, Clyde Johnson addresses the group as they all fall silent. “Merry Christmas everyone,” he says, standing and raising his bottle of beer in salute. “I just wanted to say a few things and then you may all return to your food.” Laughter spreads because everyone knows their Alpha is not a man of few words.

“Oh ha ha, laugh at me. Seriously now, I want to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday and new year. Everyone knows that in the spring Bubba and I, are stepping down and passing leadership to Michael and Jace.”

Everyone lets out excited yips and howls, as Clyde continues, “And, we are welcoming two new members to our family; Siofra and Roan, which many of us already thought of as family even before the engagement.” He winks at Siofra, “So lets cheers to many new beginnings in the coming new year!” Clyde holds up his beer and everyone follows suit, a resounding howl echoes through the home and sips are taken.

Placing his hand on Siofra’s thigh, Conall leans in and whispers in her ear, “Should we tell them now?” kissing her on the cheek.

“If you want,” she whispers, looking him in the eyes as butterflies fill her. “Go on, you do it,” she nudges him in the side with her elbow.

Conall kisses her on the lips, smirks and starts to push his chair back, standing in the noisy room. Faces turn his way as he taps his knife on his beer bottle. “Excuse me, everyone,” he laughs. Siofra can sense his nervousness.

He waits for everyone to turn their inquiring faces towards his and then he reaches for Siofra’s hand, pulling her to her feet beside him. “We have something to tell everyone.” Kissing her on the forehead, he places his hand on her belly. “We’re having a baby!” His smile is wide enough, Siofra thinks his face might split in half and she can’t stop from laughing lightly.

Cheers and yips go through the room and the women stand up and hug Siofra. The children start inquiring on what the commotion is, but their parents just tell them to go back and eat; they’d tell them later. Chatter fills the room as questions are shouted at her over the noise and Siofra’s attention is being pulled in a million directions.

“One more thing everyone,” Siofra interjects through the chatter, “its twins!” More cheers and hugs go around, and Siofra is passed from well-wisher to well-wisher, ending at the head of the table and her female Alpha; her future mother-in-law and someone she owes a lot too. Susan accepted her right from the beginning, helping her at every turn when she asked and even at times when she didn’t.

“Susan,” she smiles, and her hand automatically falls to her belly as her female Alpha’s happiness washes over her.

With tears coming to her eyes, Susan takes her future daughter-in-law in a tight embrace. “I am so happy,” she chokes out, hugging her tight and rubbing her hand over Siofra’s belly. Releasing Siofra to embrace her father, Marcus, Susan goes and hugs her second youngest son, telling him that he’ll be a great father.

Everyone settles back into their food and dinner goes smoothly. Dishes are cleared away and the leftovers packed into the fridge. They all take desert and coffee into the den to watch the kids open their gifts. It’s a happy sight watching the kids rip open packages and freak out over getting exactly what they wanted.

Squeals and the sounds of paper ripping, fill the house for over thirty minutes. When the children are satisfied playing with their new toys, the adults start to pass around the gifts. With piles in front of every person, Jason starts the countdown.

“Now if anyone gets a hundred dollars, it is mine; I must have miss-gifted,” he jokes as Roman elbows him, knocking the small package out of his hands, before they start shoving and pushing. Their older brother Mike tries to break it up, but they just pull him into it and gang up on him, and, within seconds, almost every man in the room is involved in the playful tussle.

“That’s enough, boys,” Siofra’s father says sternly, his voice booming out over the laughter and music causing everyone to snap their attention to him. Siofra can feel her father’s Alpha presence slip around the room, as he keeps his stare on the group of men, his brow creased; but she smiles to herself knowing he’s not really mad. She watches her son hop up into his grandfather’s lap right before Marcus Sr. breaks out into loud laughter along with Clyde Johnson and Bubba Smithe, rendering the scolded men speechless.

“That right,” Roan shouts, sticking his chest out proudly from his seat on his grandfather’s lap, “listen to my Papa. He knows best.”

This little display makes everyone break out in laughter and the room soon goes back to normal. This time Mike takes over the countdown to rip into the gifts and as soon as he says ‘one’, the Johnson boys go crazy; ripping, tearing and tossing wrapping paper all over the room. It’s a silly tradition and Siofra shares a look with Cassie and Sylvia, all of them giggling quietly.

Siofra receives a new pair of jeans and a cashmere sweater from Jason and Cassie, which she can’t wait to wear. From Mike and Sylvia, she opens a box full of her favorite body washes and lotions, all Pumpkin scented; she thinks Conall is more excited about them than she is. She elbows him in the side when his teeth latch onto her ear and he growls that he can’t wait to get her in the shower to see how they really smell. Clyde and Susan give her and Conall plane tickets to Hawaii, which will have to wait till after the birth of the twins. She’s overwhelmed with the gesture and she hugs the Alpha pair repeatedly. Trey and Jace have gone in together and got her numerous scented candles and a certificate for a year’s worth of car washes and interior cleaning from the local car wash. It’s a typical ‘single male’ gift, but she is thankful for them regardless, and hugs both of them with a slight growl from her fiancée when Jace pinches her butt.

After Conall pulls Jace into a playful headlock, they tussle for a second, getting all of the children riled up. Siofra’s father comes to stand in front of her. “Hey daddy,” she smiles up at him, still laughing at the guys and he holds out a thin, narrow box to her. She knows it has some sort of jewelry inside and taking the box, she hugs him tight.

“You didn’t have to, Dad,” she smiles, untying the ribbon that secures the box shut.

“Yes, I did. It was your mother’s,” he whispers and she stops. Astonishment fills her gaze as she looks back up at him. She knows that he has never gotten over Cecilia; she was his one true love, like Conall is to Siofra. She hopes that one day her father will find someone worthy of his love again and dump her terrible step mother.

Squeezing her father’s hand, Siofra flips the box open. Inside is the most magnificent necklace she has ever seen and she immediately recognizes it, the sight of it taking her breath away. Running her fingers over the diamonds, set in white gold; she hovers over the teardrop shaped, deep blue sapphire, set in the very middle.

“Mom’s wedding necklace?” she gasps. Siofra had seen so many pictures of her parent’s wedding day, always adoring the necklace that her mother had around her neck. This very necklace. “Dad…… I can’t,” she whispers as tears fill her eyes, shaking her head, trying not to cry.

“Yes you can, and you will,” Marcus Sr. grasps his daughter’s hands, pulling them to his chest and holding them with a tight, loving grip. “Your mother wanted you to have it for your wedding day,” tears in the man’s eyes wrench at Siofra’s heart. “She would talk about how happy it would make her to see you wear it. I can’t disregard her wishes.”

The moment overwhelms Siofra and she embraces her father as tears fall from both of their eyes. She sinks her
face into his shoulder when she feels his arms tighten around her, trying to scare the sorrow away as he always does.

“Papa,” Roan’s little voice breaks up the moment, “Papa, up?” Reaching his little arms up to his grandfather, making both father and daughter smile and laugh, the little boy gives them a sugar cookie laden smile. Obliging his grandson, Marcus picks him up, swinging him around as Siofra dabs at the tears on her cheeks.

She watches her father spin Roan around, making him giggle uncontrollably, when her fiancée’s arm snakes around her waist from the back, pulling her back into his warm front. She doesn’t miss the extra second he takes to splay his large hands out over her stomach. The shiver the contact makes runs over her body; her eyes slipping shut as her head lolls back on his shoulder. She sighs happily, leaning into his neck and placing a light kiss just below his jaw as a lusty rumble rolls almost silently through his chest, making her smile.

Opening her eyes when her son squeals again, Siofra sees that Conall has produced a ring box and is holding it up in front of her face. “I had a little help from your father with this,” he whispers into her ear, pulling her tighter into him and kissing her temple.

“Connie, you didn’t have to. You just got me this,” she holds up her left hand, wiggling her fingers so that her engagement ring glints in the low fire light of the room.

“This is a little different,” he says, nodding for her to go on and open it.

Looking at the little box, Siofra wonders for a second what else he could get her and flips the top open slowly. She is overwhelmed to see her mother’s Claddagh ring staring back at her. Her mother had worn it every day and Siofra had expected that it had been lost in the auto fire that had claimed her mother’s life. Its sterling silver band, hands and crown surround a rose-gold heart, set with a single, tiny ruby in the middle of it. Her hands start to shake as she stares at the little ring nestled in the velvet of the box.
